Chapter 7

Preparing

After One month of Romeo's Training

"Thank you for being here, Dr. Shinya." Councilmen Org greeted as he and the rest of the council all nodded in agreement.

The man standing before them was one of the most well known and most respected magic scientists and researcher in Fiore, some even say in all of Ishagar, but Shinya would modestly state that to be an overestimation.

The man was middle aged, had short light colored hair, green eyes, and a small tufted of hair on his chin, the same color on his head. His glasses were rimless, while his outfit consisted of an open lab coat that had the sleeves rolled up behind his elbows, a dark green t shirt, a pair of dark blue pants, while his feet were adorned with brown boots.

"The pleasure is all mine." He stated smiling, "Now that we have the formalities out of the way, I would like to present to you all the latest info my team and I found on the gates and monsters that appeared recently."

The magic scientist pulls out a small, round metallic device and puts it on the table, in front of him so the rest of them could see. He presses the button, causing the machine to activate. The councilmen look in awe as they see a square shaped hologram being projected, displaying a map of the entire continent of Ishagar. Though what really stuck out was that there were numerous blinking red dots scattered through out the map.

"As you all can see, this is amount of gates that appeared a while ago." Dr. Shinya begins before pressing a button on a small remote he had in his hands, soon most of the blinking dots began to vanish. Some still remained, but not nearly as much as it did last time. "And this is how many that are starting to appear averagely, as you can see, the numbers have greatly diminished from when they were first starting."

The scientist hit the remote button again. This time it displaced gate portals, however there were six of them, all different colors.

"Not only that but it appears that the gates have been starting to change as well."

"How so?" A councilmember asked.

"It appears that the gates are now color coated to match how strong the monsters inside them are, and how strong someone has to be to beat said monsters inside of them." The man stated as he showed them, "Blue is E-Class, Orange is D-Class, Yellow is C-Class, Green is B-Class, Purple is A-Class, and Black is S-Class."

"Color coated based on strength?" one member questioned at the rather strange information, "Are you sure of this?"

"Yes, we double checked and everything," The man confirmed, "But that wasn't the only thing we found out. It turns out these portals radiate magical energy."

"And what does that have to do with anything?" Another member asked.

"If these were natural occurring portals they wouldn't be giving off any magic at all. Which means, someone or something is causing these portals to open, they're not natural." Dr. Shinya answers, causing all of them to widen their eyes in shock.

"Do you have any leads as to who could possible have done this?" Org asked as the good doctor could only shake his head no.

"Not to anyone specific, however these portals are appearing around the world, not just here, so whatever is causing this has an enormous amount of magic power, so I think we can rule out any humans and other mortal races." He stated to them.

The members of the magic council all look at one another before Gran Doma looks back at the magic scientist.

"We see," Gran Doma says as he looks at him, "Is there any sign that the gates will return to being more frequent like before?"

"We estimate that they will remain stable for right now, but we also guess that they will become more frequent later on down the road as well, time can only tell."

The council members all looked at each other once again, deep in thought before, once more, Gran Doma began to speak, "Thank you Dr. Shinya, you may leave."

The glasses wearing man nods before talking his hologram lacrima, bowing a thank you at them, and begins leaving.

Once he was out of the room, the Magic Council began there discussion.

"This is at least some good news." Org stated to them, "This small pocket of time will at least give everyone time to prepare."

"Agreed, we must send out word of this to the other nations as soon as possible," A member declares, "But we have more matters to discusses."

"One of them being the deaths of some of the Wizard Saints." A councilman stated to his fellow members. "And God Serena being a part of that death toll."

"He was an outstanding mage, one that had unrivaled power, the fact that someone or something out there, be it from here or the portals, had managed to kill him is unsettling to say the least."

"Not only that, but our informants have given us intel that someone is targeting the other wizard saints," Another councilman said, "Four more are already dead, the only ones remaining are Draculous, Wolfheim, Warrod, Jura, and Makarov."

"Should we set out on sending protection for the remaining ones and finding replacements for the other five?" A third councilmember inquired.

"No," Org answered, "A few days prior, the king had a meeting with the other rulers of the kingdoms of Ishagar. Like Shinya stated this is not only affecting us, but the other nations of the world as well. And when it was done a messenger from his majesty informed me of a new change, the 10 Wizard Saint System will be abolished, and instead will be replaced by another group of powerful mages. It's a part of, what he calls: "The Spartan Project"."

"The Spartan Project?" One questioned.

"It goes like this: Each of the 14 countries of Ishagar will find their strongest mage, and once all 14 are found, they will each come together as a group know as "The Spartans". The King believes this is a wise choice as it not only stands as a symbol a continental team work and peace, but the citizens of every country can be rest assured their in good hands as someone from their home land will be part of this team."

"I see, but how are we suppose to find our strongest mage exactly?" A female member questioned.

"King Fiore informed that every country may use their own methods to find such an individual." Org stated, "As such he will be using the Grand Magic Games as his way, the way he sees it, the strongest will most defiantly show up there."

"Thank you Org." Grand Doma stated before looking at the others, "Now as for the matter of the Dungeons here, we will create a set of rules to all legal guilds here. 1) Anyone going into a dungeon or doing a dungeon job must have a party of at least 5 or more members in order to do so, 2) Any group that wishes to enter a Dungeon that is either B or A Class must have at least 1 S-Class Wizard present within said group, 3) Any Dungeon that is S-Class, must be taken down by only a group of S-Class wizards. We shall discuss this more tomorrow, thus we Pray."

"Thus we pray."

In the Main Plain of the Overworld

The background was light blue while the ground below was cloudy, this was because the ground below really was made out of clouds. In the Center of the area was a large rectangular table with a fancy red table cloth with golden outlining on top of it. The sides each had six chairs, and as fate would have it, 11 beings were currently sitting in their spots.

These were 11, of the 12 Overlords.

Of course you all know about Magi, Desu, Jeevak, Sentō, and Sunna, and you also know about the fact that Magi wasn't here as he is currently in his own plain of existence. Desu, Jeevak, Sentō, and Sunna were currently sitting on the right side, in that order, with one other figure sitting next to Sunna.

She was a fairly tall female, with peach skin, long flowing curly pink hair, and blue eyes. She was wearing a fluffy sleeveless, pink dress that warped around her sizeable chest all the way down to her ankles, showing off some cleavage. Her feet were adorned with fancy red dress slippers. Around the back of her neck and over the front of her arms, there was a clear white veil. There was something not human about her though, in fact two somethings: The fact she had pink deer ears instead of normal ones, and the two brown antlers sticking out of her head. Her outfit was completed by a golden leaf crown on her head.

This was Bona, Overlord of Wind.

Sitting across from the time overlord was a male.

He was tall, very muscular, and had a serious expression. This overlord was also white, and I don't mean very pale, I mean his skin was actually the color white. He was completely bald and his eyes were brown as well as his two eyebrows. He has a red tattoo that went from his left eye, to his left arm, down to the left side of his body. The white colored man was completely shirtless allowing his muscles to be exposed as the only clothing he had on was the torn up pteruges, the brown leather fingerless gloves he had that stopped at his elbows, the leather leg armor that started from under his knees and stopped at his ankles, the black sandals he had on his feet, and finally the arm armor that was on his right arm. This being also had two scars, one in the center line of his abs and the other over his right eye. However, the most noticeable thing about him were the extremely long chains that were wrapped around the gloved parts of his arms and were connected to the two large daggers strapped to his waist. (AN: Look up Kratos from God of War.)

This was Kratos, Overlord of Strength.

Next to him and sitting in front of Jeevak was a female Overlord.

She was Short and petite, has light skin, and purple eyes. Her hair is black, in a bob style, with several strands of hair always hanging between her eyes. Her outfit was a standard shihakushō, while her feet were adorned by white socks and wooden sandal clogs. Attached to her waist was a long katana sword. All in all, she looked like a 15 year old girl, when in truth she was much older than that. (An: Look up Rukia from Bleach)

Her name was Joan, Overlord of Swords.

Next to her and in front of Sentō, was another male Overlord.

He appeared to look like a ninja. This ninja is a lean young man in a black gilet and hood with a white trim and a black outfit underneath. He covers most of his face with a red mask and opaque black visor, which has three glowing red dots over his left eye and one larger dot over his right. Under his red hood, he conceals black hair with center-parted bangs, each tapering to a point. He had various weapons attached to his body so he could reach for them at a moments notice. (AN: Red hooded ninja, Young Justice.)

This was Suterusu, Overlord of Stealth.

The one sitting next to Suterusu, and in front of Sunna was another male.

However, this one didn't appear human, or even have a humanoid appearance. His was that of a wolf, a werewolf in fact. He was a huge, muscular werewolf with grey fur, glowing yellow eyes, and wild sharp teeth. He wore silver fur of a lion monster over his shoulders, forearms, back, and lower legs, a ragged skirt with a thick silver fur waistline, and gold-trimmed white armor on his right shoulder and over his groin area. His Muscular chest and abs were exposed to the world while it's claws were extremely sharp. (AN: Werewolf version of Solo Leveling Beast Monarch.)

His name was Feng, the Overlord of Beasts.

The one next to the big lug, and sitting in front of Bona, was another female overlord. However, this overlord was the smallest of the group, to the point she needs to stand on the chair in order to see over the table.

She had the appearance of a small girl, with pale skin and light red eyes. She has pale blonde hair, tied in pigtails with a prominent cowlick, and elf-like ears. The female wears a red coat with a darker red embellishment and keyhole shapes in the hem over a white dress and shorts, as well as a fluffy scarf with a pom-pom, gloves, knee socks, boots, and a brown messenger bag. Lastly, she also wears a large red newsboy cap, with a pin featuring a clover insignia and two white feathers. (AN: Klee from Genshin Impact.)

Her name was Han'nō, the Overlord of Transmutation.

Finally, the Last Overlord that was sitting next to Han'nō, and in front of an empty chair that was next to the Overlord of Wind, was a male as well.

This one appeared to be a middle aged, or older, Caucasian looking male with a well-built body, notably face and arms, that's full of old scars. He has a shaved head, Amish-style beard without a moustache, brown or black eyes, and partially darker skin. He is wearing an off-white undershirt with medium-length sleeves beneath a beige overalls-like forger apron (with a brown pouch-like bag on the waistline) hung only by the left shoulder, black gloves, dark brown pants, and brown-beige upturned boots. (AN: Erhard from Rising of the Shield Hero.)

His name was Dhimat, the Overlord of Crafting.

All of them, with Magi, were the 12 Overlords.

In the front of one of the smaller ends of the rectangular table stood a giant golden chalice, and on the top stood a large crystal ball with a thin blue line down the middle of it.

"Nice of you all to finally make it." The line began to move wavily as the almighty voice spoke.

"It was are pleasure, Master." Sentō speaks as everyone else nodded in agreement.

"Though we are missing a member." Bona stated as she looks at the empty seat next to her.

"Yeah! Where's Magi, he's the best!" Han'nō stated as she pats her small hands on the table.

"Last time you said I was the best." Dhimat stated as he looks at her.

"Wait what, but she said that I was the best." Joan says with a small pout, as she figured she was the best.

"I think all of you are the best!" Han'nō stated with an adorable smile as the others couldn't help but feel happy at the cute ones antics, "Except Jeevak, he's weird."

"WHAT!?" The overlord of Death roared angerly as Desu and Feng couldn't help but laugh at this. "OI, YOU TWO FUCKERS WANNA GO! CAUSE I'M ABOUT TO-"

"ENOUGH!" Sentō screams, causing everyone to shut up, as he slams his large green fist onto the table, forming cracks on it's wooden surface, right before the furniture's magic kicked in and began to repair itself. "Would you fools leave your stupid games for another time, we have more important matters to attend to."

"Thank you Sentō," The Omnibeing speaks through his crystal ball, "Now, as some of you may have notice, Magi isn't here. The reason for his sudden is because he interfered with the mortal realm."

The ones who didn't know this widened their eyes at this.

"No way, for real?" asked Dhimat as he couldn't believe what he had just heard.

"I have my doubts about this." Feng snarls.

"Are you saying you do not believe the words of our master?" Bona glared at the werewolf. He in turn glares back.

The Omnibeing couldn't help but chuckle at their antics.

"Now now, calm down you guys." The crystal orb stated to them, "Yes, while it may seem far fetched, it is true, Magi did break the oath. He is currently in the void dimension, curtesy of Jeevak."

"Meanie." Han'nō pouts as she cutely glares at the reaper.

"Why are you looking at me like I'm a bad guy, Magi was the one who broke our sacred law!" Jeevak counters.

"I know, I just like him more than you." Klee admits smiling.

"Why you little-"

"Anyway," The sun overlord interrupts as she wants to get back on track, "There was one thing he said to us that was pure and utter nonsense before we sent him there." Sunna begins, "He told us that you actually gave him permission to go to the mortal world, and worse, that you actually see us as nothing more than petty entertainment tools."

The others were shocked when they heard this. That can't be right, there was no way that the being that created them and gave them such awesome power actually saw them as that... right?

The Omnibeing was not saying a word.

"Uhhhh, Master your silent." Desu stated in his little kid form, before turning back into an adult.

The crystal ball let out an ominous laugh. Everyone began to grow a little uneasy.

"Master your scaring us." Bona says as she, as well as the rest, look at the crystal.

The Omnibeing was silent once more.

"Master, please answer us." Suterusu begged as he couldn't take the silence.

The crystal ball was quiet before it finally spoke

"Yes, everything Magi said was true." The being spoke causing the other Overlords to widen their eyes in shock, "And soon, I will erase you all from existence."

The others couldn't believe what they were hearing. The being that created them, gave them their awesome and amazing powers, and their place in this world, just admitted that to them that he saw them as nothing more than tools to use, and that he would soon be rid of them for good.

"But why?" Sentō trembled, "We've been nothing but loyal to you, we've helped you create the very world below you! We've always followed your lead whenever possible! So Why-"

"Be silent," The Omnibeing's voice lost all understanding and love, and was replaced with malice and coldness, causing the green skinned Overlord to instantly shut his mouth. "Let me drill this into your thick heads so you won't forget," He begins to speak, "I do not care for a single one of you, you 12 Overlords are the very embodiment of disposable. I created you all just for my own simple amusement, and I can and will get rid of you if I want to." At this point all 11 of them looked at the talking crystal ball in fear, "You all severed your purpose well until this point, and I expect you all to die by my hands with no hesitation."

"Why do you expect us to simply sit back and take this?" Kratos asked as his anger kept increasing the more he hears this.

"Because, you fools can't do a damn thing to stop me. The power difference between me and you all is the equivalent to a building and an earthquake." He was stated finishing up, "Enjoy the last moments of your pitiful worthless lives my Overlords, it was fun while it lasted, but I've simply grown tired of you."

And with that, the crystal ball soon faded away out of existence, leaving the 11 Overlords at the table, distraught as they all had to process what they had just heard. However that would only last a couple of minutes before the 11 heard a very familiar voice.

"As the mortals would say: Man what an asshole." The other Overlords soon turn their heads as they wanted to know who was it that just said that. And to their shock it was Magi.

"What the- How did you-" Jeevak began to say surprised as he couldn't understand how he had escaped the void dimension.

"Master pulled me out of there." Magi answered the Overlord of Death.

"I see," Feng growls as he glares at the Magic Overlord, showing his claws off, "So you betrayed us to that bastard, so what now, your hear to taunt us about the fact we blindly trusted him only to end up paying for it, or you just here to kill us for him?"

"Calm down fur ball, it's not like that." Magi begins to say to his friends, "I didn't side with him, I'm working against him as a double agent, I just needed more info to get my plan in motion."

"What plan?" Joan asked.

"Simple really," Magi starts, "We're gonna team up and kill our former Master."

"Ha! And how are you gonna pull that off genius, last time I checked you can't kill someone who's Omnipotent!" Sunna shouted, still angry about her master's betrayal.

"With the same thing that's preventing him from hearing our conversation right now." Magi reveals to everyone the golden bracelet around his wrist.

"Ohhhh, what is it?" Klee asked staring at the piece of jewelry.

"It's called the Author's Authority, it's the only thing in existence that can kill him."

"What?" Dhimat said surprised, "But why would he even create such a thing?"

"He didn't." Magi simply answered, "He isn't the true Omnibeing, he has been coning us from the very beginning." He continued to show off the bracelet, "And this is proof. Master tried his damn hardest to destroy it, which failed. So he did the next best thing, he hide it away and it stayed hidden away, least until I found out about it. It was created by the real Omnibeing."

"Hold on, if he's not our real master, then who is?" Joan asked curiously.

"We will never meet him again," Magi informs, "But I did find out about his name at least, though admittedly it was a strange one: Greg27."

Sorcerer Weekly Magazine Headquarters

"What do you mean you don't approve of this story!?" Jason yells as the angry blonde slams his hands on his boss' desk.

His boss in question was in front of the desk, having a glare off with him. The boss was a pudge man wearing brown dress pants, black dress shoes, a gray dress shirt, a brown vest, and had a loosened green tie. He had dark blue eyes, grey hair, and a mustache.

"Did I say that let me rephrase that." He said before looking at him, "What I meant to say was that I don't want an obvious bullshit story in the magazine!"

The blond reporter grits his teeth, he had finally finished the full story on Romeo saving the town of Honio. It took him a whole month just to get the draft done, but it was worth it. However, the only problem was that his boss wasn't allowing it to happen.

"This story isn't bullshit!" Jason screams.

"Oh please, you mean to tell me that a 13 year old boy some how took on an army of lizardman all by himself and actually won?" The mustached man asked in annoyance, "And from that has been guild Fairy Tail Guild no less?"

"Hey! Fairy Tail might of had some set backs, but there back stronger than ever! And that boy is proof!" Jason countered pointing at his boss, "Besides the entire town are all witnesses! Do you seriously think I'd make an entire town lie just to get my story published?"

"Yes, cause your that crazy enough to do it." His boss countered-countered with a deadpan expression on his face.

Jason groans.

"Fine, thats fair."

Jason's boss sighs in frustration as he pinches the brim of his nose.

"Jason, look, I get it, you had some good times with Fairy Tail. You don't think everyone remembers the old days when Fairy Tail was number one? But things have changed, they lost that title and are now at the bottom, they aren't what they used to be, Fairy Tail is old news." The man throws the report back at Jason's face, "Besides, the only, and I mean the only, way I would ever allow this kind of far fetched story to ever be published, is if I saw this Romeo kid take down a monster even stronger than those lizardman with my own fucking eyes. Now quit focusing on the past and start focusing on whats happening now in the present!"

In the Pergrande Kingdom

"Is the procedure almost done?" A female doctor with pink eyes and shoulder length white hair named, Dr. Halsey, asked her crew as they were all in an underground lab.

The lab was underground, had various machines around it as well as many other scientist, and it was black in color. They were working around the clock on various devices and lacrima computers that had limitless info on the project, that was given to them by the king himself, they were working on. And said project was at the center of the back wall of the lab. It was a huge tube container that was connected to various machines and computers through cables. Inside of it was some kind of green liquid, however it was the other thing that was inside of that tube along side the green liquid that was the real project. It was a boy, around 15 years old, He was muscular, his dark blue eyes were closed, his hair black and spiked downward, and his skin was tanned to perfection. The teen's only form of clothing was a pair of black boxers while he sported a black breathing device that covered his mouth and nose, allowing him to breath air while submerged in the green liquid. Finally their were various clear cable wires that were on numerous spots across his body.

His name was Goto Fujieda, and one of the Pergrande Kingdom's most powerful mages.

When he was six years old he was in the park with his parents, when suddenly a gang of orcs attacked. His parents helped everyone else escape including him, however once they faced off against the leader of the Orcs, Gormarot, they were soon killed. Orphaned and alone the young Goto offered himself to the countries' military program, wanting to become stronger and kill off the gang of Orcs that did this. During the first 8 years, under Pergrande's young military training branch, he had learn history, military strategy, weapons, magic, and received both physical fitness and magic training. He quickly surprised the counties' military leaders and the King himself with the fruits of his training, surpassing in strength of even his peers as well. Goto quickly went on to take on and take down some of Pergrande's most powerful enemies and even got his revenge against Gormarot at just the young age of 14, and if anyone asked some of the military mages that were there on that day, they would recall it being one of the most gruesome and bloodiest battles that the country has ever had in years, at least for the Orc's side. It had been 6 months since that incident and nothing else has ever given him a real challenge since, at least until the gates had started appearing. Honestly, this had been the most fun he had in a long time, the dark guilds simply didn't cut it for him anymore, plus no Orcs were attacking ever since that day he killed Gormarot, guess his death sent the message pretty clear that they shouldn't mess with the Pergrande Kingdom.

And now, he was the countries prime candidate to make their strongest mage. Since the meeting of Ishagar's rulers agreed to find their respective countries' strongest mage their own way, the King of this great country decided that it would be best, for them at least, to create that mage themselves. Which is where Goto came in, once they made the offer to him, the 15 year old boy didn't even think of refusing. And here he was now, going through some serious body modifications.

"Is everything ready?" Dr. Halsey asked the other scientist.

"Machines are stable."

"Subjects vitals are normal as well Doctor."

"Perfect, lets begin." The white haired female stated as the rest begin pushing various buttons and noobs on the machines, causing the cables that were on Goto's body to glow a varied set of colors. Dr. Halsey watches to make sure nothing was going wrong as she ordered her crew to keep her informed on the procedure.

"Increasing physical power by 20%."

"Magical power is slowly increasing by 40%."

"Subject's vitals are still stable."

The white haired scientist smirked to herself as she watched this. Things were starting of without much issue, and if everything went well, the Pergrande Kingdom would soon have their strongest mage in no time at all. And soon Ishgar itself would have very a powerful Spartan as well.
