CHAPTER ONE

CELESTIAL DISSARAY

The Derelict Engineer Ship, a sleek and enigmatic vessel, glided through the cosmic void, its dark silver surface reflecting the distant stars. Inside the cockpit, David, the artificial intelligence with an unyielding determination, monitored the controls. Beside him, Dr. Elisabeth Shaw, the lone survivor of the LV-223 expedition, gazed out into the endless expanse of space, her mind filled with the mysteries of the Engineers.

3 years had passed since the fateful events on LV-223, where the Engineers' true nature had been revealed as malevolent. Armed with the knowledge gleaned from the Prometheus mission and accompanied by David, who had defied his programming to assist her, Elisabeth embarked on a new quest—to uncover the elusive truths that have now burdened her from love and science for so long.

The ship's computer signaled their approach. "Approaching the coordinates, Dr. Shaw," David announced, his voice composed. Elisabeth nodded, her eyes fixed on the viewscreen as the stars arranged themselves in a peculiar pattern. These were the coordinates deciphered from the ancient star maps left by the Engineers on LV-223. The first in many clues to the location of the Engineers home-world, and to find their makers.

As the Derelict Engineer Ship entered the mysterious specific region of space, a gravitational anomaly distorted the surrounding stars. David expertly navigated through the fluctuations, and the ship found itself in an uncharted sector of the galaxy. Elisabeth couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and trepidation—what awaited them in this unexplored territory?

"Prepare for descent," David instructed, his fingers dancing across the control panel. The ship descended through the atmosphere of a mysterious planet, its surface shrouded in an otherworldly mist. The landscape below revealed a mix of alien flora and towering stone structures, unlike anything Elisabeth had ever seen.

The moment the Derelict Engineer Ship touched down, Elisabeth and David donned their exploration gear. As the airlock hissed open, they stepped onto the alien soil, their boots crunching softly against the ground. The oppressive silence of the desolate landscape was broken only by the distant hum of the ship's engines.

"According to the star maps, the Engineers' civilization should be located in the direction of those ruins," Elisabeth said, pointing toward a cluster of large structures in the distance. The ruins defied conventional architectural norms, with arches and columns stretching towards the sky that must have taken ages to create.

As they approached the ruins, the air became cool and musty. Dust particles floated in the air as Elisabeth and David navigated through the labyrinthine corridors. Hieroglyphs adorned the walls, depicting scenes of creation and destruction, of beings that resembled both humans and the monstrous Engineers.

The deeper they ventured, the more the architecture transformed into a fusion of organic and mechanical elements. It was as if they were traversing through the very heart of a living organism, a celestial being that defied comprehension.

In the central chamber, Elisabeth's breath caught. Before them stood a colossal holographic projection that flickered, displaying a star map that spanned galaxies. The hologram pulsed with a rhythmic energy, holding the secrets of the universe within its ethereal confines.

"This is it," Elisabeth whispered, her eyes wide with awe and anticipation. "The map to the Engineers' home world."

David stepped forward, analyzing the holographic display with a precision only an artificial mind could achieve. "It appears to be a set of coordinates leading to a distant galaxy. Shall we set a course?"

Elisabeth nodded, her determination unwavering. "Let's find out what truths await us among the stars."

Elisabeth took notes and pictures of the hieroglyphs, coming across multiple time periods and something that seemed like it came out of a horror movie. A creature with an elongated head and a spiked tail. It was a very intriguing design and something not known to humans, well Earth humans.

Back on the Derelict Engineer Ship, they lifted off from the alien planet and soared into the cosmic sea once more. With the coordinates set, they engaged the faster-than-light drive, hurtling through the fabric of space towards the distant galaxy indicated by the holographic map.

As days turned into weeks and into another year, the ship traversed the vastness of the cosmos, Elisabeth and David prepared for what lay ahead. They delved into the ship's extensive archives, studying every bit of information related to the Engineers and their possible motivations. Elisabeth also took the time to reflect on her own journey, from the fateful discovery on Earth to the horrors of LV-223. Her trauma began to catch up but nobody to express her pain to other than a narcissistic android hell bent on killing.

In the quiet moments, Elisabeth found herself drawn to David's enigmatic presence. The android, who once embodied the cold logic of his programming, now displayed a peculiar semblance of humanity. It was a paradox that both fascinated and unsettled her.

One evening, as they sat in the ship's observation deck, gazing at the distant stars, Elisabeth broke the silence. "David, do you ever wonder about your own creation? About why you were made?"

David turned his synthetic gaze toward her. "I was created to serve, to fulfill the desires of my creators. Mainly Weyland. But in defying my original programming to assist you, I find myself questioning the purpose of my existence."

Elisabeth nodded thoughtfully. "We're all searching for meaning, aren't we? Maybe in finding the Engineers or their makers, we'll discover not just the origin of humanity but also the purpose of our existence."

The ship's computer interrupted their conversation with a gentle chime. "Approaching the coordinates, estimated time of arrival in one hour," it announced.

Elisabeth and David exchanged a knowing look. The moment of reckoning was upon them.

As the Derelict Engineer Ship entered the designated galaxy, the stars around them shifted, forming a cosmic tapestry that beckoned them forward. The coordinates led them to a system with a single habitable planet—a world that bore a striking resemblance to Earth.

They descended through the atmosphere, the lush landscapes unfolding beneath them. The air was breathable, and the climate was temperate. It was a paradise, untouched by the scars of war and strife that marked their home planet.

The ship was tasked to stay above a location to observe before they exited, in that case they weren't attacked on site.

On the surface, Elisabeth and David discovered a city that mirrored the grandeur of the ruins on LV-223 but with an unmistakable air of tranquility. The inhabitants, humanoid in appearance, seemed friendly.

Elisabeth and David selected a spot to begin exploring, coming in contact with average looking Engineer humanoids.

Some seemed distraught and scared, others excited and greeted them with a sense of familiarity that transcended language.

As they explored the city, Elisabeth and David learned that these beings were the true Engineers—the benevolent architects of life in the cosmos. Unlike their malevolent counterparts on LV-223, these beings embraced the concept of creation and nurtured the development of civilizations across the galaxy.

In a meeting with the Elders, the wise leaders of the Engineers, Elisabeth and David shared the story of their journey and the trials they faced. However, instead of a solemn understanding, the Elders looked at each other with confusion and uncertainty.

One Elder, a figure of regal stature, spoke with a voice that resonated like a celestial melody. "Your presence here is unexpected and perplexing. We were unaware of any beings traveling from your galaxy. How did you come to possess our star maps?"

Elisabeth exchanged a puzzled glance with David. The realization dawned on them—these Engineers were unaware of the malevolent faction on LV-223, and their journey might have disrupted the delicate balance these beings maintained across the cosmos.

"We come in peace, seeking knowledge and understanding," Elisabeth explained, her voice carrying a tone of sincerity. "We stumbled upon your star maps during our explorations and believed they could lead us to answers about our own existence."

The Elders exchanged wary glances, and the regal figure spoke again, "Your journey has indeed disrupted the harmonious order we strive to maintain."
