Chapter 3: "Enchanted Threads of Love"
Over the days that followed, Cinderella dedicated herself to nursing Prince Charles back to health. She kept coming to the castle every day, tirelessly caring for him, never once faltering in her duty, even though her heart was torn between the past and the present. As Charles regained his strength, they began to talk, slowly unraveling the tangled threads of their friendship.
Charles' voice filled with vulnerability yet sincere determination, "I'm so happy you are always here for me." he smiled.
Then he confessed the depths of his regret, "I'm sorry for what I did, and I want you to know how much I regret it. I lied and caused you a lot of pain, and it's been eating away at me. I look you in the eyes and promise I've learned from my mistakes."
With an earnest gaze, he held Cinderella's hand, "I need you to believe that I'm sincere. The love and respect I have for you grew when we were apart. I spent that time thinking about what I did and wishing I could make things right and being away made me realize how much I care about you without any hidden agendas. I messed up, and I'm truly sorry for the hurt I caused. I want you to know I've changed and am asking for your forgiveness. I hope you can see the genuine regret in my eyes and give us a chance to move forward together."
Cinderella listened, her heart slowly mending as she witnessed the prince's vulnerability and remorse. She realized that their connection, though tested, still held a significant place in both their lives. The genuine friendship they once shared had the power to heal wounds and bridge the gap between their different worlds.
Cinderella, her voice laced with remorse, spoke with a deep sense of regret. "Charles, I should be the one to say sorry to you for all the hurtful words I said. It was my fault that you fell ill, and I couldn't bear the thought of anything happening to you. Please forgive me."
A faint smile tugged at the corners of Charles' lips, and he whispered softly to himself, "Thank God I fell ill." He smirked.
Curiosity piqued, Cinderella caught his words and demanded, "What did you just say? Don't tell me you're still grateful for being sick?!" Her astonishment colored her words.
With a mischievous twinkle in his eyes, Charles playfully responded, "Well, only because it brought me the opportunity to be nursed by such a numb beauty." And he gently poked Cinderella's nose, eliciting a surprised squeal from Cinderella, which soon turned into laughter. Their joyous laughter mingled and filled the room, creating a shared moment of lightheartedness and relief.
Outside the prince's chamber, the sound of their infectious laughter echoed through the corridors. Alex, with a warm smile on his face, savored Charles' remarkable recovery. The king and queen, overwhelmed by the uplifting sound of their son's progress, exchanged glances filled with joy and gratitude.
As Prince Charles recovered, Cinderella and he rediscovered the joys of their friendship. They laughed together, shared stories, and opened their hearts to one another. However, he understood Cinderella's hesitation and respected her concerns about their differences in social status.
As Prince Charles regained his strength and their friendship blossomed anew, he found himself unable to imagine his life without Cinderella by his side. His love for her had deepened, and he yearned for more than just friendship.
One day, under the perfectly bright sun and clear sky, Prince Charles and Cinderella opted for a picnic outside the castle. As they strolled, Prince Charles and Cinderella found themselves surrounded by the vibrant colors of blooming flowers and the gentle rustle of leaves in the breeze. Cinderella, with a joyful spirit, began sprinting to each and every flower, smelling its fragrance, her delight filling the air like a melody.
Charles couldn't help but be captivated by her grace and beauty. The sunlight danced on her cheeks, casting a radiant glow that left him in awe. "Cinderella, you're more beautiful and enchanting than the flowers themselves," he was surprised by his sudden remarked. Cinderella looked at him and responded with a sweet smile, causing Charles's face turned red.
As they strolled through the garden, Charles suggested, "Let's take a break and enjoy the beauty around us." They found a secluded spot with a soft, grassy area, perfect for a picnic. Cinderella spread out a blanket, and they settled down under the shade of a blossoming tree.
Cinderella, her eyes gleaming with joy, unveiled a delicious spread of homemade treats. Charles couldn't hide his delight. "You truly have a gift for preparing wonderful meals," he complimented, savoring every bite. He couldn't help but imagine a life where Cinderella would prepare meals for him every day, envisioning himself helping her in the kitchen. Together, they could create a beautiful life not just for themselves but also for their future children. Charles chuckled at the thought, his heart warming with the vision of a shared and joyful life.
Cinderella, catching the twinkle in his eyes, couldn't help but smile. "Seems like you're thinking of something, Charles."
Charles laughed while scratching his head and rubbing his nose.
After an hour of eating, Charles excused himself, promising to return shortly. He made his way back to the castle, a glint of excitement in his eyes. Cinderella waited and succumbed to a peaceful slumber beneath the shade of the tree. When he returned, he held a small surprise for Cinderella—a bouquet of flowers he had personally picked for her.
Charles, beholding the peaceful sight of the one he cared for deeply, bent his knee and couldn't resist the urge to gently brush a strand of hair from her face. Then he stopped for a moment and looked at her intensely, captivated by the delicate rise and fall of her chest as she slept. A surge of emotions overcame him, and for a fleeting moment, a rush of feeling made him touch her soft red cheeks. Her face was so flawless. He brushed his finger on her lips like cherries. He bent over to smell it; it smelled like strawberries longing to be kissed. He bent to kiss her, but when he was about to touched her lips, Cinderella stirred, waking up with a soft yawn.
He panicked and quickly moved away.
"Hey, you're back," she greeted with a smile, oblivious to the moment Charles hid his disappointment, quickly grabbed his present, "Yes, I'm back. Surprise! Thanks for preparing our delicious meal," Charles said with a twitch grin. Cinderella's eyes lit up, and she accepted the bouquet with gratitude, "This is so pretty! So sweet of you, Charles. Thank you!"
Charles sighed in disappointment. However, he cherished the sight of Cinderella waking up, her smile like a radiant sunrise. The afternoon continued, but Charles's unspoken desire lingered on him, creating a tension on his heart that only time could unravel.
As they continued to enjoy the peaceful afternoon, Charles couldn't help but be drawn to Cinderella's serene presence. He gently took her hand, causing Cinderella's eyes to widen in surprise as he squeezed it. The gentle hum of nature, the warmth of the sun, and the love blossoming between them created a moment frozen in time.
"Cinderella," Charles spoke, his voice a soft plea, "why not choose to remain by my side in the castle? You deserve a life free from the shackles of mistreatment."
Cinderella's eyes widened in surprise, and a wry smile curved her lips. "Are you completely insane? You know that my stepmother and stepsister will be furious if I don't return to the mansion," she taunted, a defensive shield rising against the vulnerability his proposal exposed.
"Why are you so numb? That's not what I mean... I mean be with me forever," Charles clarified, his words filled with a depth of emotion that hung in the air like an unspoken promise.
Cinderella stood frozen; her usual quick wit momentarily silenced by the gravity of his words. The world around them seemed to fade as the weight of the proposal settled between them, and for a brief moment, time seemed to stand still. "Am I ready?" she asked herself. The gentle hum of nature persisted, oblivious to the internal struggle that unfolded within Cinderella's conflicted heart.
They ended the day with silence.
As Prince Charles found himself unable to imagine his life without Cinderella by his side. His love for her had deepened. With a resolute determination to express the depth of his emotions, Prince Charles asked the help of Alex to meticulously arranged a romantic dinner for Cinderella. His intention was to create an opportunity for her to open up and be honest with him, especially considering her continued silence following their emotionally charged confrontation in the garden. He hoped that this occasion would encourage her to reveal her true feelings, acknowledging that their connection could transcend mere friendship.
Without a doubt, Cinderella eagerly accepted the invitation wholeheartedly. With the aid of her godmother's magic touch, she was bestowed with the privilege of adorning the most exquisite and magnificent dress she had ever experienced throughout her entire existence.
