Hi guys once again sorry for the late update. Thankfully I have been accepted into medical school so I no longer have to worry about that and with all this free time in quarantine hopefully, I can get some chapters out before life gets hectic again. Honestly this chapter was hard to write mostly because it's taken so long to write. However, I'm still obsessed with the Hunger Games and its victors so I'm sure I'll get inspiration soon again. Thanks to everyone reading new and old! Stay safe out there, wash your hands and flatten the curve. At least now we can stay inside and read/write more fanfiction haha! Anyways enjoy our newest Victor. If you have any comments I would love to hear them!
Panem Events
Sterling was a very pleasing Victor. He wasn't as popular as his district partner, but One was ecstatic for its second Victor. The Capitol loved his well-mannerism and charming looks. The Capitol thought that the previous Games had a lot of low parts with few moments of excitement. The Capitol liked the idea of the Arena but thought that it was poorly executed. Head Gamemaker Julius Falco wanted to make this year's arena simpler and to give the tributes more freedom of interaction. Julius did not promote the arena with any propaganda footage but did get the approval of President Marcellus.
The main Career pack consisted of the tributes of One and Four. The girl from One, Glory, had the highest score of this year's Games, a ten, and was a crowd favorite although she wasn't as beautiful as many past One tributes. The pair from District Two were both volunteers and scored reasonably well. The male, Optimum, scored an eight and the female, Diandra, scored a nine. The One and Four tributes did not want to automatically allow the Two tributes into the Career pack again due to the actions of past Two tributes in recent Games, however, Diandra was accepted into the Career Pack. The standouts of the outer tributes consisted of the District Ten tributes, Canyon and April who scored a six and seven. District Ten has become a largely favored underdog in recent games. A large outer-district alliance formed consisting of the tributes of Ten, Eleven and Twelve. Another alliance formed between the males of Five and Six, Rio and Dallas, who both scored sixes in training. Another alliance was of Willow of Seven and Celina of Eight. Then finally the pair from Nine were allied together as well. This is also the first Games post-rebellion to have a Silent-Baby or a baby that was born during a Hunger Games meaning if they were ever reaped they could potentially have a birthday during their Games. They are known as a "Silent-Baby" because their cries during birth are not heard over the cries of tributes during the Games. The Silent-Baby in these Games is Dallas of Six, so if he lives until day nine he will have a birthday in the Games.

Day One
The twenty-four tributes rise up in a small clearing in the middle of a bamboo forest. Giant stalks of bamboo cover the mountainous terrain and small streams criss-cross the small arena. The bamboo stalks are thick and close together making it hard for the tributes to see far into the forest. The tributes wear brown cargo pants, hiking boots, and a dark green long sleeve shirt with their District emblem on their right sleeve. Only Pix and Tucker decide to take the risk of not going into the Bloodbath.
Delphini makes it to the Cornucopia first and quickly picks up a belt of throwing knives and turns around to find her first target. She sees Espen sneak past Glory but she can't sneak by Delphini. Delphini throws her knife and it lands in the middle of Espen's chest.
24. Espen Sho, 14, D6- knife thrown into chest by Delphini Crook D4
Castana is digging through a crate looking for a knife when she is kicked in the side by Optimum. She screams as he hacks a machete into her chest.
23. Castana Nickels, 18, D9- hack in the chest by Optimum Zedona D2
Caleb runs around to the backside of the Cornucopia and finds Fabrick and Abe fighting over a pack. Caleb runs over to help his ally and he stabs Fabrick in the back with his spear.
22. Fabrick Tudd, 17, D8- stabbed in the back by Caleb Sowell D11
Gucci spots Samsun running towards the bamboo forest with a bag in his hand. Gucci takes aim with his spear and throws it. The spear sails through the air and impales Samsun in the back. Gucci runs over to retrieve his spear from the poor boy's body.
21. Samsun Fone, 17, D3- spear thrown in back by Gucci Tiando D1
Honey cries out for help as Glory corners her inside the Cornucopia. Honey tries to climb over a crate but Glory grabs her by the back of the neck and throws her off onto the ground. Honey screams as Glory stabs her sword into Honey's gut.
20. Honey Derricks, 17, D11- stabbed in the abdomen by Glory Gretchen D1
Eddy finds Fusia staring blankly at the dead body of Castana and Eddy easily kills her by slashing his sword across her stomach.
19. Fusia Tuley, 16, D5- abdomen slashed by Eddy Lowen D4
Diandra spots Optimum going through a crate near the side of the Cornucopia and runs over to him. "You have to get out of here the Careers will kill you. I won't be able to protect..." Diandra doesn't finish her sentence because April stabs her sword through Diandra's back.
18. Diandra Istani, 17, D2- stabbed in the back by April Ulrich D10
Optimum raises his sword to attack, but April's District partner, Canyon, is already there and stabs his own sword through Optimum's chest. The District Ten pair then run off into the bamboo to look for the rest of their allies.
17. Optimum Zedona, 17, D2- chest slashed by Canyon Ashwell D10
The Bloodbath comes to an end as eight cannons boom. The Careers regroup at the mouth of the Cornucopia. Both pairs from Four and One survived all though Eddy got his left arm slashed by Milo's scythe. Delphini bandages her District Partner's wound as Gucci and Glory start sorting supplies. The rest of the tributes spread out across the arena. Pix travels the furthest from the Cornucopia since she didn't partake in the Bloodbath. She finds a small alcove in the side of a hill to lay in for the night. Dallas and Rio each got a pack from the Bloodbath. They find food, rope, water, and two knives collectively. Tucker also fled from the Bloodbath without getting any supplies and he makes camp near one of the many streams in the arena. Willow and Celina quickly race through the bamboo before finding a resting place in an area of dense bamboo. Celina managed to get a small pack containing jerky and a knife from the Bloodbath, while Willow grabbed an empty water jug. Milo lost his ally and District Partner in the Bloodbath but he managed to grab a scythe and pack of supplies before wounding Eddy and fleeing. Milo finds a place to rest in the northern part of the arena in a small cave in the side of a mountain. The large alliance of Ten, Eleven, and Twelve survived with only one casualty, Honey. April, Canyon, and Caleb all managed to get kills in the Bloodbath. The group managed to get a plethora of goods from the Cornucopia. The group knows that the Careers will be hunting them down so they travel late into the evening before stopping to make camp.
Day Two
The Careers are up early to begin hunting for other tributes. Eddy and Delphini begin cooking breakfast as Gucci and Glory start packing packs for the day ahead.
"Are you sure you'll be fine here by yourself," Delphini asks pointing to Eddy's wounded arm.
"Of course, it's my nondominant hand and besides I still have my sword," he says with a grin, "Besides hopefully, a tribute tries to sneak by so that I can prove to the Ones that I'm not completely useless."
"Well you know the dynamics of the Career alliance have been tested in recent Games. I just don't want one of us to go out too soon before the Ones try to backstab us," Delphini whispers.
"If that's the case, I should be worried about you."
Gucci and Glory walk up to the Four pair. "If breakfast is ready we should take it to-go. We have a long day ahead of us," Gucci says holding a pack out to Delphini.
"Sounds good to me!" Delphini says quickly hopping to her feet and grabbing the pack.
Glory, Gucci, and Delphini all grab some of Eddy's cooked bacon and hashbrowns and head off into the bamboo.
For the rest of the tributes, the day starts slowly as they slowly wake up and start to mill around. Tucker didn't get any supplies from the Bloodbath but he finds some edible roots near his stream and spends the day collecting them. Pix also didn't grab anything from the Bloodbath and has a harder time finding any food. She eventually finds a fallen stalk of bamboo and begins to peel and chew on its inner-fibers. Rio and Dallas follow a stream until they find its source, a spring inside a shallow cave. The boys then decide to set up camp there. Willow and Celina stay within their clearing surrounded by densely-packed bamboo. They have enough food and water to last them a few days. Milo searches closeby his cave for fellow tributes in the morning but after seeing no signs he stays the rest of the afternoon in his cave. The large outer alliance finds a place to set up camp for a few days in the eastern portion of the arena in the valley of two mountains. The boys start working on building small shelters while the girls go look for water. As the tributes become accustomed to their new environment the Careers return back to the Cornucopia without seeing a single tribute.
Day Three
Starting at daybreak, Glory, Gucci, and Delphini go off to search for more tributes. This time they plan to stay out for two days to hunt further away from Cornucopia. Eddy stays to guard the Cornucopia and to allow for his arm to continue to heal. Delphini and Eddy have a quick conversation to meet in the southern part of the Arena if anything big happens. The Careers don't come into contact with any tributes and make camp by a small stream for the night as Delphini keeps watch.
The only interaction between tributes was when Milo spotted Tucker drinking from a stream. Milo charged towards Tucker, but Tucker quickly noticed Milo and took off. Milo chased after Tucker for almost twenty minutes before giving up after losing him in a dense patch of bamboo. The rest of the tributes stayed close to their camps for the day. Pix spent the day gathering inner-fibers of bamboo but realizes that she is quickly losing energy each day. Rio and Dallas spent most of the day inside their cave and only came out to use the bathroom. Willow and Celina remained in their small clearing. Celina showed Willow how to weave baskets from the bamboo leaves and soon they had built ten of them. The large outer-alliance stayed at their camp and talked about their home lives.
Day Four
The outer alliance is beginning to become restless about staying in one spot for too long. Canyon makes the decision to pack up camp and to look for another place to settle down for a few days. Canyon and Caleb work to dismantle their camp while Lolli, Abe, and April volunteer to collect some edible roots for their journey. It doesn't take long before the group finds the area to collect the roots. "Stay close guys, and we only need enough to get us through today." April states. Lolli and Abe both shake their head before heading off in different directions. Lolli begins to hum as the group starts digging through the dirt. The melody is broken by a gasp from Lolli. April and Abe both stare in shock as Delphini holds Lolli by her collar and stabs a neck into her neck.
16. Lolli Egrett, 16, D12- stabbed in the neck by Delphini Crook D4
Lolli's cannon booms as Abe and April go on the offensive. April attacks high and Delphini turns to evade the blade but is meet by Abe's sword. Abe slashes his sword across Delphini's chest and she falls to the ground choking on blood.
15. Delphini Crook, 17, D4- chest slashed by Abe Benson D12
As Delphini's cannon booms Gucci and Glory appear. April and Abe slowly back away as Gucci and Glory advance with smirks on their face. "Canyon! Canyon!" April screams.
"Canyon! Canyon!" Glory mocks. Her and Gucci both swing their swords out towards April but she manages to jump out of reach. Abe doesn't stick around races away. "No Abe, please help me fight," April pleads. Glory swings her sword again and April deflects it but Glory compensates and manages to lunge her sword forward and it impales April's neck. April falls to the ground and her cannon booms.
14. April Ulrich, 18, D10- stabbed in the neck by Glory Gretchen D1
"Why didn't you chase after him!" Glory hisses pointing in the direction Abe left.
"I don't know I was distracted by her," Gucci states pointing to April's corpse.
Glory looks over to Delphini, "It's a shame that poor Delphi didn't make it."
"Quite a shame," Gucci says squatting down and removing Delphini's pack and belt of throwing knives, "Let's see if we can find where that boy went."
Glory and Gucci go in the direction that Abe fled but he had already warned Canyon and Caleb and they had already left. Glory and Gucci don't see any more tributes in the afternoon and with the sun starting to set they decide to stay out one more night before heading back to the Cornucopia.
The other tributes are shocked by the rapid-fire of three cannons. After this most stay still throughout the day in fear of being the next death. Eddy spends the day waiting anxiously to see if any of his allies were killed. That evening, Eddy sees Delphini's face in the sky. Dread shakes his body, he and Delphini were close friends and he's is upset that he couldn't protect her. Eddy doesn't stick around for Glory and Gucci to come back in case they are responsible for Delphini's death. Eddy already has a pack ready; he quickly gathers his things and starts to head south.
Day Five
Pix wakes up with a terrible pain in her stomach. The bamboo fibers have aggregated in her gut and start to scratch her insides. Any small movements are unbearable and she starts to cry from the pain. Milo hears Pix's soft cries from a distance and follows the sound. Milo finds Pix laying on the ground withering in pain with tears down her face. Pix is emaciated and covered in dirt. Milo only recognizes her by the District Three emblem on her sleeve. Pix only gives a whimper as Milo slashes his scythe across her chest. Her cannon booms almost instantly. Pix doesn't have anything for Milo to take. The sight of Pix's body gives Milo the creeps so he hurries away to keep the thought of her out of his mind.
13. Pix Reston, 18, D3- chest slashed by Milo Bradford D9
Glory and Gucci make it back to the Cornucopia and are not surprised to find Eddy gone.
"I don't blame him," Gucci states as he sits down on a crate, "It's probably for the best."
"At least this way we don't have to end the alliance in violence. That's an improvement from previous years," Glory says with a short laugh.
"Yeah well, next time I see him, I'm going to kill him. You can count on that," Gucci says seriously.
Canyon, Caleb, and Abe managed to trail Gucci and Glory from a distance and followed them back to the Cornucopia. They watch from the edge of the clearing, hidden behind the bamboo, as Gucci and Glory start to reorganize their supplies.
"Let's ambush them," Caleb says quietly.
"I don't know, maybe we shouldn't," Canyon states back.
"Why did we follow them, if we weren't going to attack them?" Abe asks.
"I don't know," Canyon says dishearted.
Abe huffs, "I know you and April were close but I lost my District Partner yesterday too. We can't give up winning, we have to fight."
Canyon takes a few deep breaths, "I know. I just feel bad, April had two younger siblings to go back home to. And not to make y'all upset but the only reason we wanted to ask y'all into an alliance was so that y'all would be easy targets for the Careers if they found us."
Caleb and Abe sit in silence before Caleb says, "Well I only accepted to be in the alliance because I knew you and April could protect me. We're still alive though and we have to fight."
Canyon thinks for a minute before answering, "Okay so this is what we will do."
Canyon tells Caleb and Abe his plan of attacking Gucci and Glory at daybreak. That way the person on guard will be tired from the night before. However, one of them has to stay up all night as well to make sure the other two have enough rest to take down the Career. Abe volunteers to stay up since Caleb and Canyon are stronger. The face of Pix is shown and the tributes settle in for the night.
Day Six
Abe jerks heads up as he starts to doze off for the countless time. The sun is just starting to rise. He peeks out towards the Cornucopia and is shocked to only see Glory in her sleeping bag. He quickly shakes Canyon and Caleb awake. "Gucci is gone. This is our chance."
"What? Where did he go?" Caleb asks.
"I...uh...I don't know maybe he ditched Glory," Abe stutters back.
"We can't waste this moment," Canyon says with newfound fervor.
The three boys quickly move towards the and stop of Glory's sleeping body.
"Go get some supplies, I'll take care of her," Canyon whispers to Abe and Caleb.
Canyon stares down at Glory with hate, "I want you to suffer for what you did April."
Canyon slashes his sword across Glory's abdomen. Blood and intestines flow out and Glory awakes screaming for Gucci. "Hurry boys," Canyon says. Glory continues to scream for Gucci as she frantically tries to put her intestines back inside. Gucci appears on the edge of the clearing as he starts to pull his pants up from using the bathroom. "Glory!" he yells. Abe, Caleb, and Canyon look at each other frantically and the sound of Glory's cannon prompts them to run.
12. Glory Gretchen, 18, D1- abdomen slashed by Canyon Ashwell D10
The boys run away as Gucci throws his spear. It sails through the air and lands in Caleb's back. Caleb falls to the ground screaming but Abe and Canyon continue running. Gucci follows after them, he pulls the spear from Caleb's back but he loses Canyon and Abe in the bamboo. Gucci heads back to the Cornucopia as Caleb's cannon booms. Canyon and Abe run for almost two miles before finally resting.
11. Caleb Sowell, 16, D11- spear thrown into back by Gucci Tiando D1
Gucci doesn't mope over Glory but instead fills his pack, grabs his spear, and heads off into the bamboo to look for tributes. He doesn't find any tributes and settles inside a small cave for the night. Eddy travels a large distance across the southern part of the Arena and finds a small outcropping on a mountainside to set up camp under. Rio and Dallas are almost out of food and spent the day making snares although they didn't find any signs of wildlife. Willow and Celina are also almost out of food but decide to wait another day before venturing outside their hiding place. Tucker stays close to his camp for the day as well.
Day Seven
Gucci, Eddy, and Milo are the only tributes to actively look for other tributes. Rio and Dallas aren't surprised to find their snares empty and spend the day looking for plants to eat. Willow and Monet leave their hiding place for the first time and find a bayberry bush. They fill two woven baskets full before heading back to their camp. Canyon and Abe spend the day mostly in silence. Canyon blames himself for his allies' deaths and Abe is too afraid to start a conversation and potentially angering Canyon.
Day Eight
The Gamemakers release four large panda mutts into the arena. The first panda is met by Milo as he starts to head south. Milo defends himself with his scythe. As the panda mutt charges him, Milo thrusts his scythe out and it impales the panda in the chest and dies almost instantly. Gucci meets the other panda as he stops to rest by a stream. The panda bellows and Gucci easily throws his spear into the panda mutt's head. Eddy meets the third panda mutt when he is hunting for tributes. His arm is practically healed now and he uses both hands to slash his sword across the panda mutt's side before impaling it in the chest. The final panda mutt crashes through the bamboo into the clearing where Willow and Monet are sitting. The girls only have small knives to protect themselves and are soon slaughtered by the panda mutt. The mutt slashes it's claws across Willow's face and digs at her chest before biting into Celina. The girls' cannons boom and the blood-covered panda mutt leaves their mangled bodies. For the first time since Post-Rebellion only boys remain in the final eight.
10. Willow Monet, 14, D7- killed by panda mutt
9. Celina Ryanes, 15, D8- killed by panda mutt
This leaves the final eight: Gucci Tiando of One, Eddy Lowen of Four, Rio Delarosa of Five, Dallas Fitzpatrick of Six, Tucker Douglass of Seven, Milo Bradford of Nine, Canyon Ashwell of Ten, and Abe Benson of Twelve.
Day Nine
Today marks a special day for Dallas because it's his sixteenth birthday. Rio wakes him up by singing him happy birthday although to a tune different than what Dallas learned in Six. Dallas even receives a sponsor gift and he quickly opens it to find a wafer with the District Six emblem on it. "It's not much but I'm grateful for it," Dallas says holding back tears.
"It's impressive that you even got a sponsor gift. Those things are rare especially for outlier Districts," Rio says amazed.
Dallas nods his head. It's true that sponsor prices have been exponentially higher priced in recent Games in order to let the tributes "play as is". "I guess the Capitol must love me," Dallas says with a short laugh.
Rio rolls his eyes, "Okay well even though it's your birthday we still have to check our snares."
The two boys go to check their snares which are once again empty. The pair decide to collect more edible plants for the day before trying to head back to the Cornucopia to see if any supplies remain there.
Tucker has already decided to head back to the Cornucopia in order to look for food. He has been living off edible plants for over a week and doesn't have any supplies so he decides to take the risk of going to the Cornucopia. He knows that the Cornucopia is towards the east and after traveling for most of the day he finds it near dusk. Tucker quickly tiptoes over to the Cornucopia and peeks inside. He's surprised and rejoiced to find it empty. In fact, it seems like no one has been there for days. Tucker starts to dig through the crates and collects a few knives before opening one to discover a loaf of sweet bread and a bottle of apple juice. He eats half the loaf and drinks most of the juice before opening another crate. He finds a package of jerky and a small bag of cookies. Tucker greedily eats the food and finds himself almost sick. He doesn't want to leave his newfound paradise and decides to stay inside the Cornucopia for the night. He stacks a few crates in the back of the Cornucopia and climbs over them to hide behind them. He uses blankets to cover himself up for good measure and he soon falls asleep.
Day Ten
Milo is looking for tributes when he comes across the Cornucopia by accident. He's low on supplies so he decides to check it out. He peeks into the mouth of the Cornucopia and is shocked to see Tucker sitting on the ground eating a package of dried oranges. Milo charges into the Cornucopia with his scythe swinging. Tucker only gulps as Milo's slashes his scythe across Tucker's throat. Blood starts to gush from Tucker's throat and Milo starts to gag. The cannon booms and Milo rapidly fills his pack with packages of food and a few bottles of water before running off towards the west.
8. Tucker Douglass, 12, D7- throat slashed by Milo Bradford D9
None of the other tributes come into contact with one another. Dallas and Rio find a small rabbit in their snare and are happy to eat something other than plants. Gucci stalks the eastern part of the Arena for tributes, while Eddy stalks the southern part. Canyon and Abe stay in the west. Canyon still hasn't talked much even when Abe prods him to.
Day Eleven
During the morning, Eddy stumbles across Gucci sitting against a stalk of bamboo as he chews on a piece of jerky.
"Did you kill Delphini!?" Eddy shouts startling Gucci.
Gucci almost chokes on the jerky but jumps to his feet and raises his spear, "No, of course not, some outlier killed her. However...you I may kill," he says with a smirk.
Eddy swings his sword around and marches towards Gucci, "We will just have to see about that."
The two clash as Eddy slashes out his sword which Gucci barely evades. Gucci tries to thrust his spear at Eddy but Eddy manages to hack his sword into the shaft causing Gucci to lose his grip on it. Defenseless Gucci tries to turn from Eddy's thrust but he's too slow and he gets impaled in the chest. Gucci collapses to the ground, sputtering on blood. Eddy simply leaves Gucci there to die as he takes Gucci's pack and continues on hunting for tributes. Not long after the cannon sounds.
7. Gucci Tiando, 17, D1- stabbed in the chest by Eddy Lowen D4
Later in the evening while Rio and Dallas are checking their snares they spot Canyon and Abe silently walking their way. Dallas and Rio decide to hide behind a thick patch of bamboo to ambush the pair. Once Canyon and Abe get closer they jump out. Dallas goes to attack Canyon but is surprised by his reflexes. Canyon almost instantly slashes his sword across Dallas' chest. Rio goes for Abe but is shocked to see Dallas fall. Abe stabs Rio in the thigh causing Rio to drop his knife. Rio is quick to react and punches Abe in the jaw, knocking him to the ground. Canyon stares down at the body of Dallas as he bleeds out but Abe falling to the ground grabs his attention. Rio starts to hobble away as swiftly as he can while Canyon tends to Abe, not wanting to lose his final ally.
6. Dallas Fitzpatrick, 16, D6- chest slashed by Canyon Ashwell D10
Abe ends up being okay; he and Canyon spend the rest of the day resting. Dallas manages to make it back to the cave. His leg is a bloody mess and he uses his shirt to stop the blood. That night many of the tributes are happy to see Gucci gone, meaning only one more Career remains in the Arena.
Day Twelve
The only tributes to actively look for other tributes are Eddy and Milo but they end up seeing no one. To keep his mind off of Tucker's death Milo starts talking to himself and to the audience. Although he had killed Pix before Tucker, Pix's death seemed more of a mercy killing. Milo talks about anything that comes to mind; his job working as a plow-boy in Nine, stories about his siblings, and even the girl he has crushes on back home. Abe and Canyon move about a little bit but Canyon is becoming more adamant of hiding away from other tributes after yesterday's occurrence. Rio stays within his cave. His leg continues to slowly bleed through the makeshift bandage of his shirt.
Day Thirteen
The morning passes without much action, but towards the evening Eddy comes across Abe and Canyon walking. Eddy charges at the pair with his sword held high. He slashes down towards Abe but Canyon protects him by blocking the attack. Abe only has a dagger and tries to stab Eddy with it. Eddy steps out of the way and spins towards Canyon and knocks him back. Eddy stabs his sword out and it lands in Abe's abdomen. "No!" Canyon yells in rage. Canyon and Eddy continue to clash as Abe slowly starts to bleed out on the ground. It's over a minute before Abe's cannon booms.
5. Abe Benson, 16, D12- stabbed in the abdomen by Eddy Lowen D4
The sound of Abe's cannon fuels Canyon on. Him and Eddy duel for almost fifteen minutes, both gaining minor scrapes. Eventually Canyon gains the upper-hand when Eddy deflects Canyon's sword at an improper angle letting Canyon to slide over Eddy's sword and slash Eddy's chest. Eddy falls to the ground and his cannon soon booms.
4. Eddy Lowen, 18, D4- chest slashed by Canyon Ashwell D10
Canyon goes over to Abe and says a final goodbye before leaving, that night Canyon doesn't get much sleep as he mourns his last ally. Rio unwraps his shirt from around his leg and is sickened by the sight. His thigh is swollen and hot to the touch. He tries to squeeze puss out of the wound but the pain is unbearable and he passes out. Milo spends his day continuing to talk and look for tributes although he finds none.
Day Fourteen
Early in the morning, Milo goes out to search for tributes to finish up the Games. Milo is in the northern part of the Arena and he travels around aimlessly in search of tributes but has no luck. Milo continues his storytelling with the audience. Canyon is in the southern part of the arena and doesn't travel much. He blames himself and is devasted by the loss of his final ally. With it being the final three, Canyon decides to get his head in the right place. He will try to win for his fallen allies; starting tomorrow he plans to start actively looking for the other two tributes. Rio is still hiding in his cave in the south-eastern part of the arena but he spends his day falling in and out of consciousness while the infection in his leg gets worse.
Day Fifteen
Rio slowly wakes in fevered sweat. He checks his wound and gags at the sight. The large gash is puffy and leaks puss; large black marks run up his leg. The stench and pain make Rio light-headed and he passes out once again. After losing consciousness it only takes three hours before his body succumbs to the infection.
3. Rio Delarosa, 16, D5- infection
The sound of Rio's cannon causes Milo and Canyon to freeze in their tracks. Both tributes have been hunting all day for other tributes. Milo and Canyon each continue searching for one another and expect the Gamemakers to intervene to drive them together but nothing happens. As the day ends both boys start to settle in for the night. Rio's face lights up the sky, and each of them believes that the other must have killed Rio. Neither boy gets much sleep as they anxiously await for the Gamemaker's intervention.
Day Sixteen
The next morning, Canyon is the first to stir and he begins walking in the direction that he hopes is the Cornucopia. Not long after Milo wakes up. With both tributes awake the Gamemakers release the panda mutts back into the arena to led the two boys together. At the sight of the panda mutts, both boys immediately start running. "These bastards again. Alright boys, led me where I'm supposed to go," Milo says with a laugh. Unexpectedly a panda mutt leaps out in front of Milo and swats its paw at Milo. Milo barely dodges the attack but easily slices his scythe across the mutts side. "Okay, I'll keep my mouth shut," Milo whispers.
Both tributes are chased into one of the valleys and almost run into each other before noticing the other. "Aha, glad to see you Ten. I'm just thankful that the boy from Four couldn't be in attendance." Milo says smirking
Canyon only grunts in response before charging towards Milo. Canyon swings out his sword but Milo deflects it with the staff of his scythe before knocking Canyon in the chest with the butt of it. Canyon stumbles backward but quickly recovers. Canyon lunges out and knicks Milo's right thigh. Milo grimaces but stands strong as he lashes out with his scythe. Canyon dodges the attack by side-stepping and then hacking his sword into the back of Milo's left arm. Milo screams out in pain as the blade cuts through muscle and tissue. Milo's arm goes limp and blood starts to quickly flow out.
Both tributes stare in shock as Milo's arm barely dangles from his shoulder. Rage and pain fuel Milo as he jabs his scythe into Canyon's stomach. Canyon jerks back from the pain and stumbles to the ground. Both tributes are surrounded by a growing pool of blood. Milo becomes light-headed and he mumbles, "I really liked that arm." Milo lunges forward and Canyon tries to swipe the scythe away but he's not fast enough and it stabs into Canyon's chest. Canyon's cannon quickly booms.
2. Canyon Ashwell, 18, D10- stabbed in the chest by Milo Bradford D9
"Congratulation, Milo Bradford of District Nine. You are the Victor of the 89th Hunger Games!" Milo drops to his knees as he quickly loses blood. A hovercraft suddenly appears and lowers a platform containing a stretcher and two medics. The medics quickly transfer Milo onto the stretcher and the anthem plays as they are raised back up into the hovercraft. The sound of Gamer Announcer, Argus Ptolemy's, voice can be heard over the anthem as he reminds the citizens of Panem that the gracious Captitolite medical doctors will have Milo in tip-top shape for his Victor interview the next day.
