Panem Events

Most of Panem was shocked by Aeriel's victory however the citizens of Six were ecstatic to have their first Victor post-rebellion. Although some considered Aeriel's victory a fallacy, the Victor of the 92nd Games was soon pushed from the limelight. Instead, most of the attention was on President Marcellus and Head Gamemakers Julius Falco. President Marcellus was starting to lose even more support from his political party, Alpha Aurea. He continued to decrease District production quotas. He also went on a tour to District Five to speak at an opening for a new hydroelectric dam. A second political party, Augmenta Pax, was developing that better aligned with President Marcella's new policies. President Marcella even congratulated Head Gamemaker Julius Falco for an exceptional Games, which put off many Capitol citizens. Julius Falco knew that the President was only looking out for him because they grew up together, but Julius knew that this could possibly be his last Games if things didn't go to plan.

For this year's Games, Julius Falco created an arena that he believed could not be hacked in favor of certain tributes. He didn't give any propaganda of the arena, hoping that no leaks could be given to the tributes. He did promise that there would be the use of some mutts in this year's Games and that slackers would not make it to the end. As the Games drew nearer many Capitolites were still weary if Julius would be able to pull it off.

The Career Tributes this year were quite formidable. Both Mason of Two and Kale of Four scored tens, with the remaining Careers all scoring nines. All of the Careers got along well and had great personalities that the Capitol loved. However, a small rivalry between Mason and Kale was forming as both vied for the leader position of the Career alliance. The only other interesting tributes were Kara of Five, Adria of Nine, and Laura of Twelve. These three girls were the only outliers to score more than a 5 with Kara and Laura scoring sixes and Adria scoring a seven. Kara and Adria became allies during training and they offered an alliance to Laura but she kindly declined. Instead, Kara and Adria asked Avia of Eleven to join to which she gladly accepted. Laura however did ally with Lacey of Eight. They created a unique bond on the last day of training, and Lacey reminded Laura of her younger sister. The only other alliance was a group of five younger tributes; Carter of Six, Brooklyn of Seven, Mikayla and Marshall of Ten, and Ryne of Eleven.

Day One

The tributes rise up in an underground catacomb wearing simple black tennis shoes, dark jeans, and a grey t-shirt with their district emblem on the left shoulder. Lanterns dimly lit the open space holding the Cornucopia and the small number of supplies that litter across the floor. Pathways exit the open space with only lanterns giving light, these pathways criss-cross and form an intricate maze that is miles long. A few tributes gasp at the sight of the skeletons that form the catacombs. The only source of water and food is at the Cornucopia although if they became desperate the tributes could try to eat one of the many rats that could be found crawling around. As the countdown ends and the gong sounds, the only tribute to flee the Bloodbath is Blue of Eight.

Kale makes it to a rack of throwing spears at the mouth of the Horn. He quickly grabs one and turns around in search of a tribute. Ryne is sprinting towards the Cornucopia and Kale easily throws the spear into the young boy's chest.

24. Ryne Diggs, D11- stabbed in the chest by Kale Kaho, D4

Chelsea reaches the Horn right after her district partner. She spots a silver trident leaning against the Horn, placed there just for her by the Gamemakers. Chelsea picks up the tridents and sprints over to Maya who is digging through a crate. Chelsea kicks Maya in the ribs and she falls to the ground with a gasp. Chelsea quickly finishes her off by stabbing the trident into her chest before sprinting away.

23. Maya Kelly, D6- stabbed in the chest by Chelsea Swinny, D4

Victoria grabs a small sword and spots Emmett of Five pinning the young boy Marshall to the ground. Victoria shoves Emmett off the young boy and says, "Don't pick on the little boy," before slashing her sword across Emmett's abdomen. Marshall scuttles to his feet and flees. Emmett's guts spill out but he still tries to crawl away but Victoria's attention is taken elsewhere and she leaves him to die.

22. Emmett Shyheim, D5- abdomen slashed by Victoria Renfrow, D2

Marshall runs away from the Emmett and Victoria battle sobbing as he desperately searches for his allies. However, Marshall practically runs into Kale who skewers him with a spear to the chest.

21. Marshall Waddle, D10- stabbed in the chest by Kale Kaho, D4

Riley digs inside a crate looking for any type of wire or electrical equipment when she feels a large hand grab her by the back of the neck and throw her to the ground. Vashon easily slashes his sword across the sobbing girl's neck.

20. Riley Lawrence, D3- stabbed in the neck by Vashon Anoma, D1

Chelsea chases after Elijah as he tries to flee the Bloodbath with a backpack over his shoulder. Chelsea aims for the small boy's legs and throws her trident. Elijah falls to the ground with a scream. Chelsea takes her time walking over to Elijah wanting his pain to last. When she makes it to the crawling boy she plucks her trident from his thigh and plunges it into the back of his neck.

19. Elijah Jacobs, D12- stabbed in the back of the neck by Chelsea Swinny, D4

Adria, Kara, and Avia are fleeing the Bloodbath together when they spot Chelsea walking up to Elijah. Adria remembers talking to Elijah once during training and rage fuels her as she runs over. As Chelsea plunges her trident into the back of Elijah's neck, Adria is there and she stabs her own sword into Chelsea's back. Chelsea gasps and falls to the ground and she chokes on blood. Adria quickly runs away and meets back up with Avia and Kara and they flee down a corridor.

18. Chelsea Swinny, D4- stabbed in the back by Adria Goodrich, D9

Wes finds a pack and a small knife and is about to run away when he meets Solei. Solei only smirks and brandishes her two daggers. In a flash, she swirls around and roundhouse kicks Wes to the ground. She then plunges her daggers down but Wes manages to roll out of the way. Wes tries to kick at Solei's legs but she easily leaps over the attack and lands on top of Wes's chest. The air is knocked from his chest as some of his ribs crack. As Wes gasps for air, Solei easily stabs her two daggers into his chest, quickly ending his life.

17. Wes Leatherwood, D9- stabbed in the chest by Solei Muzak, D1

Laura pulls Lacey along as they flee the Bloodbath. They each hold a pack and Laura managed to grab a knife from the outskirts of the Bloodbath. As they sprint away Laura notices Chelsea's dead body and the trident sticking out of Elijah's neck. Laura quickly plucks the trident from Elijah's body and the pair continues on. As they're running down a corridor they spot Clay a few paces ahead. With nothing to lose Laura throws the trident and it lands in the small of Clay's back. He falls to the ground with a grunt. Surprised by her own aim Laura pounces onto Clay's back. Clay begs for her to spare his life and Lacey only watches in shock as Laura uses her dagger to slash a cut across Clay's throat. Laura takes the trident and Clay's own pack before grabbing Lacey's hand and sprinting away.

16. Clay Harris, D7- throat slashed by Laura Lee, D12

Carter runs to the backside of the Cornucopia in search of his ally, Brooklyn. He finds her being chased by Lennox. Brooklyn screams as Lennox tackles her to the ground. Carter rushes over and shoves Lennox off of Brooklyn as she continues to scream in horror. Carter stabs Lennox repeatedly in the chest with an ice pick until he stops fighting back.

15. Lennox Bernier, D3- stabbed in the chest by Carter Forristall, D6

Carter turns around to see Mason and Victoria standing behind Brooklyn. Before Carter can warn Brooklyn her cries are cut off by Mason stabbing a dagger into her throat. Carter yells out as Brooklyn falls to the ground.

14. Brooklyn Thomas, D7- stabbed in the neck by Mason Hatcher, D2

Victoria jumps forward and slashes her own sword across Carter's throat and his body falls down beside Brooklyn's.

13. Carter Forristall, D6- throat slashed by Victoria Renfrow, D2

"They look kinda sweet laying there beside each other," Victoria says with a smirk. Mason only rolls his eyes as the pair makes their way back to the Cornucopia. Twelve cannons boom as the surviving Careers rendezvous at the Cornucopia. "I'm sorry Kale, but Chelsea didn't make it," Solei says. Kale only gives a little huff before replying, "I'm sure her cockiness got the best of her." Mason mutters, "Kinda ironic to call her cocky," but only Victoria seems to hear him and she doesn't comment on it.

The rest of the tributes continue to race away from the Cornucopia. Blue of Eight manages to get the furthest away since he opted out of the beginning Bloodbath. He went southward and raced down multiple different corridors before finding a nook to hide in. The endless walls of bone mess with his head and he simply sits in his nook with his eyes closed. Adria, Kara, and Avia head east. They managed to get quite a bit from the Cornucopia. Adria got a pack and sword, Kara got a sleeping bag, a jug of water, and a dagger, Avia managed to get a pack of medical supplies and some wire. The pair travel for quite a while before deciding to stop and set up camp at a dead end. Laura and Lacey also head east but without having a clear direction in mind, the maze network leads them to the northern part of the arena. The pair finds a place to set up camp in a nook at a dead end. Laura snuffs out the nearby kerosene lanterns to conceal their hiding spot in the darkness. Mikayla of Ten is the only living alliance member of the younger tributes. She grabbed a loaf of bread and a canteen of water from the Cornucopia and headed south as well. The skeletons don't bother her because they remind her of the bone graveyard of discarded livestock carcasses on the outside of her town in District Ten. Mikayla finds a box embedded in the wall. She peeks inside and finds a skeleton, she discards the bones and piles them along the wall to ease any suspicion. Mikayla climbs inside the crate and entombs herself inside for the night.

Day Two

The Careers wake up pretty early, although without any concept of time it's hard to know. Victoria cooks a breakfast of eggs and bacon as Kale goes over the game plan for the day. "We are gonna need someone to watch the Cornucopia while the rest of us go hunting. Any volunteers?" The other just look back and forth at one another until Solei raises her hand. "Okay, perfect!" Kale beams, "We should probably hunt together as one group until we figure out the layout of the Arena. I want us to stick together and stay strong as long as possible. I'm tired of outliers winning these Games." The rest of the Careers whoop and holler in agreement. As soon as breakfast is over the Careers, excluding Solei, head away from the Cornucopia and down one of the southern corridors.

The day goes by uneventful as many of the outliers stay close to their camps. Mikayla doesn't even leave her crate and nibbles on her loaf of bread in complete darkness. Blue roams a little bit vainly seeking a water source but his thirst isn't strong enough to motivate him to search for long. After about two hours of searching, he finds a new nook to snuggle up in. Laura and Lacey spend most of the day sitting in their darkened area of the catacomb. Laura teaches Lacey a few songs from District Twelve to help calm Lacey's nerves. They do roam around for a few hours but then go back to their darkened area. Kara, Adria, and Avia do nothing but stay at their camp and tell stories of their lives back home in the Districts.

Day Three

After an early breakfast, the Careers set out to go hunting with Vashon staying back to guard the Cornucopia. Their progress is slow as they try to leave a trail of skulls by placing them at the turns they take. Victoria came up with the idea to face them in the right direction to the Cornucopia so that they don't get lost. On one corner when Solei is placing a skull down she notices a hand placed about halfway between the ground and rocky ceiling that is pointing in the same direction that the Careers just came from. On the next turn they take, Solei notices another pointing hand. "I think placing the skulls is redundant because I think there's already a sign of which direction the Cornucopia is in. On the last two turns we've taken I've noticed this hand which points in the same direction we just left from. Maybe it's a clue from the Gamemakers and we're supposed to figure it out by ourselves."

"I think that definitely could be a possibility. It would be bad on their part if all the tributes ran around the arena with no ability to know where they are." Victoria says.

Kale and Mason are both not receptive to the idea, mostly because they didn't realize the clues first. At that moment a hatch slides open from the ceiling and a parachute holding a sack of oranges lands in Solei's hands. "Thank you Stella and my sponsors!" Solei says cheerfully.

"I think that's a sign that you were correct. I didn't realize you were the brains of this alliance," Victoria says with a short laugh.

"Me neither! Vashon is going to be jealous that I got a sponsor gift before him." Solei says with a smirk.

Mason gives a short huff, "Alright let's get moving." He turns away and continues down the corridor and Kale hurries to match his pace. Victoria and Solei only roll their eyes. Solei gives an orange to Victoria and they share it as they follow along behind the boys.

On the other side of the Arena Avia, Kara, and Adria are arguing. Adria woke up to find that her pack had been looked through and that half the bread was eaten. Adria immediately accused Avia since she kept guard duty throughout the night. "I know you ate the bread just confess already!" Adria hisses.

Avia looks to Kara for support but Kara doesn't meet her gaze, "I promise I didn't eat it."

"You've been complaining about how hungry you've been the past few days," Adria spits back. Rage runs through Adria'a and she raises her sword.

Tears start to fall down Avia's face as she begins to sob, "I promise it wasn't me."

Kara puts her hand out onto Adria's shoulder, "Stop arguing! Do you want the Careers to hear us," Kara looks at Avia and says, "I think it's best if you just leave Avia. I don't want any bloodshed between us."

Without another word, Avia grabs her pack and sprints away. Adria stares daggers into Avia's back until she out of sight after making a turn. Adria lowers her sword and Kara sighs in relief.

"That bread was supposed to last us a week. What are we going to do now?" Adria says dishearted.

"We'll be okay. We'll figure out a way to survive." Kara says back as she rubs Adria's back.

Blue spends most of the day roaming around a bit looking for a food or water source. As he walks down one corridor he comes across a small pack of rats scurrying along the wall. Blue grabs a skull from the wall and chunks it at one of the rats. The skull smacks the rat and stuns it long enough for him to kill it. Without a knife, Blue uses a sharp small bone to skin the rat. He debates eating the flesh raw since he doesn't have a way to cook the meat when an idea hits him. Blue grabs a lantern from the wall and using the flame inside he slowly starts to roast the meat. It takes a while for the meat to fully cook but the taste is worth it since Blue hasn't eaten in three days. Surprised by his ingenuity Blue gains enough sponsors and Blue's mentor, Marley, sends him a small water bottle. Blue is shocked by the parachute falling down from the opened hatch above him, but he happily thanks his sponsors and takes a few sips of water.

The rest of the day passes without any conflict. The Careers are able to make it back to the Cornucopia without trouble thanks to Solei's idea to follow the pointing hands. Kara and Adria roamed a little bit but after the confrontation with Avia, they didn't have a lot of energy to do much. Avia ran for a while before collapsing at a dead-end corridor on the southern side of the Arena. She laid on the dusty ground silently crying until she fell asleep. The energy from the rat Blue ate gave him the motivation to build some deadfall traps along the walls of some passageways to hopefully catch some more rats. Laura and Lacey did almost nothing but sit in the dark and tell stories to one another. The stories were somewhat entertaining to the audience but the Capitol was quickly getting bored of them especially since Laura was a favorite in the pre-game events. The audience is also getting very bored with Mikayla who hasn't done anything but walked through the passageways confused and lost as she slowly starts to run out of food and water.

Day Four

After a breakfast made by Solei, the five Careers come up with a new hunting plan. Victoria proposes that each Career hunts solo and use the trick that Solei discovered to guide their way through the catacombs. Everybody agrees on the idea. Kale surprisingly volunteers to guard the Cornucopia as the rest go off in separate directions to hunt for tributes.

Lacey and Laura venture out from their darkened corridor to search for a water source since their canteen is running low. The pair walk through the catacombs with Lacey trailing behind Laura who leads with her trident gripped tightly in her hands. The pair hasn't seen another tribute since the Bloodbath but beyond any turn could be another tribute. After a few hours of roaming without any luck in finding a water source, the pair decides to stop and eat a quick lunch. Laura breaks off a small part of a loaf of bread and hands it to Lacey, "I don't think there is a water source in the arena."

Lacey takes the bread and starts to nibble on it, "I don't there is one either. So what will we do for water and even food, because there doesn't seem to be any plant life."

Laura nods her head, "I think the Gamemakers really want us to struggle this year. I've seen a few rats run by so if it comes down to it we can try to trap them."

Lacey grimaces, "I might just starve rather than eating a rat."

Laura chuckles softly, "Well we still have a few days worth of food, but water is our biggest concern."

"So what are we gonna do about the water?" Lacey asks placing the last piece of bread into her mouth.

"We'll ration it as much as possible and if all else fails we might have to sneak into the Cornucopia," Laura says without confidence.

"Good luck trying to sneak into the Cornucopia," a deep booming voice sounds from the end of the corridor.

Laura and Lacey both quickly look up to see Vashon standing with a sword in hand. "Run!" Laura yells as she grabs Lacey's hand and pulls her to her feet. Laura sprints away with Laura trailing behind. Vashon wastes no time and sprints after the two girls. Before Laura and Lacey can escape Vashon catches up with the pair and slices his sword across Lacey's back. Lacey screams Laura's name as she falls to the ground. Laura turns to see Vashon standing above Lacey with a devilish smirk on his face. Lacey sobs and just as Vashon is about to make a killing blow Laura swings her trident out and it knocks against Vashon's head causing him to stumble backward. Before Vashon can orient himself Laura plunges her trident into his chest and shoves him to the ground. Vashon groans as his large body smacks against the hard ground and the air is knocked from his lungs. Rage fuels Laura as she repeatedly stabs her trident into Vashon's chest until his cannon booms.

12. Vashon Anoma, D1- stabbed in the chest by Laura Lee, D12

After the cannon sounds Laura races over to Lacey where a small pool of blood has formed. "Roll over Lacey let me see the wound, let me see" Laura cries. Lacey groans as she rolls to her side and Laura gasps at the sight. A gash runs from Lacey's right shoulder down her back to her left hip. Laura cries at the sight of the cut and the large amount of blood coating the back of her shirt. "We have to stop the bleeding," Laura state as she starts to rummage through her pack.

"It's no use, Laura. We don't have a medkit and it's too late," Lacey says through short breaths. Tears stream from her face as she silently cries.

"I'm so sorry Lacey. I'm sorry I couldn't protect you," Laura mutters.

Lacey removes a woven nylon ring from her finger and hands it to Laura, "Do not blame yourself, Laura, you've protected me enough already. Now, it's my turn to protect you. Take this ring and remember me so that I'll always be with you."

Laura doesn't have any words to say as she shakingly accepts the ring. Lacey gives a soft smile and after a few more deep breaths her cannon booms. Laura sobs and kisses Lacey's forehead before grabbing her gear and leaving.

11. Lacey Snead, D8- back slashed by Vashon Anoma, D1

The rest of the day passed without much action. Adria and Kara roamed the catacombs for a few hours but decided to conserve their energy. With Avia gone the pair has gotten along quite well. Meanwhile, Avia hasn't moved much at all as she is also trying to conserve energy since she only has a few sips of water and half a pack of jerky left. She grabbed a large femur bone from the catacomb wall to use as a weapon but didn't encounter any tributes and didn't have to use it. Blue doesn't have any luck with his rat deadfall traps but is optimistic for tomorrow. Mikayla however is getting into a darker headspace, she has completely run out of food and water and paranoia is starting to take over. She oscillates between sitting still and walking the passages not knowing which strategy will offer her the best safety. After hours of hunting, the Careers make their way back to the Cornucopia. Each one returns at different times since there is no way of keeping up with how much time has actually passed, but they all have the same response when Kale asks if they saw any tributes. Since two cannons went off they all assume that Vashon might have encountered someone and they all expected him to make his way back and are shocked to see his face on the catacomb ceiling later that evening.

Day Five

The day comes and goes without much action. The Careers have no luck with hunting and the rest of the tributes stay hidden away to conserve their energy. Most of the outliers are running low on supplies and don't want to waste their energy. Blue manages to kill two rats from his deadfall traps and resorts to drinking their blood for some hydration. Adria and Kara still have some water left but only have a pack of dried fruit and crackers left. They plan to raid the Cornucopia once their food is gone and hope that there won't be any Careers guarding the Cornucopia. Mikayla goes all day without food and water and spends the day laying on the hard ground quietly sobbing but too dehydrated to produce any tears. Laura is the only tribute who has a good day since she receives a sponsor gift of a small bottle of water.

Day Six

Avia wakes up with stomach pangs and takes the last few sips of water she has. Desperation to find a water source and the boredom of yesterday motivates her to roam the southern portion of the arena. Around midmorning Avia spots a heap of cloth on the edge of the corridor, she moves closer and is shocked to realize it's the little girl from Ten, Mikayla. Avia nudges Mikayla with her foot but Mikayla only gives a soft groan. "Wake up!" Avia hisses quietly, but Mikayla doesn't even react. Avia searches nearby for a pack or any supplies but only finds an empty canteen. "Seems like everyone is low on supplies." Avia starts to nudge Mikayla harder with her foot but Mikayla barely makes a sound. "How long have you been like this for?" Avia asks not expecting any response. A wave of cramping rushes through Avia's stomach and desperation floods her brain. Avia raises her femur bone and whispers, "Sorry," before smashing it against the side of Mikayla's head. Mikayla barely flinches and Avia smashes the femur against Mikayla's head once again. Avia expects herself to start crying at any second but instead, she feels nothing as she repeatedly clubs Mikayla's head until a cannon booms. Avia looks up to the ceiling hoping for a sponsor gift, "Please, please, please," she repeats under her breath. After a few seconds, a parachute holding a small bottle of water falls from a hatch in the ceiling and at this moment Avia begins to cry.

10. Mikayla Brice, D10- clubbed by Avia Feaster, D11

Day Seven

The day passes slowly as the tributes become even more lethargic from lack of food and water. Even the Careers are getting bored because they haven't even seen another tribute since the Bloodbath seven days ago. Kale and Mason have become increasingly hostile to one another and barely even speak to each other and when they do it normally ends in an argument. Kale believes that they should stay at the Cornucopia since the tributes may eventually come back here for supplies but Mason thinks that they should spend the nights deeper in the catacombs so that they don't have to waste time traveling to and from the Cornucopia. Meanwhile, Victoria and Solei's bond only strengthens as they mock the boys behind their backs and patiently wait for one of them to snap on the other. The fear of breaking up the Career alliance too early and allowing an outlier to win the Games is the only thing holding the alliance together.

Day Eight

After a day without much action, the Gamemakers release two packs of six beaver-sized and blood-thirsty rat mutts. The two packs are released near Blue and Laura, the two tributes the farthest away from the others. Blue is on the far eastern edge of the arena and Laura is near the southern border.

The mutts first encounter Laura as she is walking down a passageway with her trident in hand. The sound of scuttling catches her attention and she turns to see the first rat mutt make its way around a corner. Laura gasps in disgust and fear. The rat is quick and it jumps at Laura but she reacts fast enough to skewer it with her trident. The rest of the pack runs around the corner and Laura takes off in a sprint hoping to lose the rats in the process. However, the scent of human and their quick speed keeps the rat mutts close to her. Laura's legs start to tire from running and she turns around to face the mutts. She stabs her trident down and it impales one rat in the face. Before Laura can go for another kill a rut leaps up and bites into Laura's left forearm. Laura screams in agony and punches the rat in the face and it lets go. Blood runs down Laura's left arm as another rat tries to attack. This time Laura uses her trident to smack the rat against the catacomb wall causing a few bones to crash on top of it as it thumps against the ground.

Laura notices the hanging kerosene lantern on the wall and she swings her trident out to keep the rat mutts at bay as she reaches up and unhooks the lantern from the wall. Laura throws the lantern at the nearest mutt and it immediately catches on fire. As the kerosene pools on the ground, the flame grows and catches the last rat on fire. The rat mutts screech in pain and wallow on the ground before Laura puts them out of their misery and stabs her trident into each of them and silencing them.

As the fire burns out and the corridor starts to dim Laura sits on the ground and gives a sigh of relief. She's surprised to see a parachute falling from the sky containing a large container of vegetable and beef soup. She quietly thanks her sponsors and starts to sip on the piping hot soup.

On the eastern edge of the arena, Blue sits against the catacomb wall as he fingers the eye sockets of a skull. His head is heavy from dehydration and his body is stiff from sitting on the ground all day. The second pack of rat mutts turns a corner and jumps onto an unsuspecting Blue. Blue cries out in pain as the rat mutts bite at his flesh and tear his clothing. Blue shoves one rat away but another one clamps its yellow teeth on his arm and he howls in pain. Blue tries to fight off the rats but they easily overpower him and continue to scratch and bite him until his cannon booms. The rat mutts disperse and all that is left is a bloody mess of what was once Blue.

9. Blue Mayden, D8- killed by rat mutts

This leaves the Final Eight: Solei Muzak of One, Mason Hatcher and Victoria Renfrow of Two, Kale Kaho of Four, Kara Falcinelli of Five, Adria Goodrich of Nine, Avia Feaster of Eleven, and Laura Lee of Twelve.

Day Nine

The morning passes without much action, but in the evening the Gamemakers release the rat mutts once again. This time they target Adria and Kara. The pair has been spared thus far because the Gamemakers saw them as the best opponents against the Career alliance. The rut mutts quickly find the duo sitting on the catacomb floor staring in silence. Adrenaline rushes through the body's each girl as they leap to their feet. The rat mutts are less rabid compared to the ones yesterday. The rats jump at and claw at the girls but don't cause much harm. One rat manages to leap onto Kara's pack and drags her down. Four other rats chase after Adria as Kara calls out for help. Adria hesitates for a moment but a rat jumps and claws her arm which fuels Adria to keep running. The rats claw at Kara but she makes it back to her feet and continues running. She rounds a corner but sees no sign of Adria; with no time to spare Kara continues running. The rat mutts chase after the two girls on separate paths but still push them towards the center of the Arena where the Cornucopia and Careers are. After running for what seems like forever Adria stops to catch her breath and raises her dagger to defend herself but the rat mutts simply to continue running on. A similar occurrence happens to Kara. The two girls are now fully separated from one another and the rat mutts did their job. Adria tries to backtrack and look for Kara but has no luck. Meanwhile, Kara has no desire to look for Adria since she basically left her for dead.

Day Ten

The Careers leave the Cornucopia with Victoria staying behind to guard. It isn't until late in the evening when Mason encounters Adria walking down a passage ahead of him. Mason starts running towards Adria and the sound of his footsteps causes her to turn. Her eyes widen in fear as Mason raises his dagger to attack. Adria quickly removes her own knife from her belt and slices outward with it. Mason thought she was defenseless and acts on instinct to swerve out of the way of the knife. The blade still manages to graze his left arm. Mason hisses in pain and Adria lunges out for another attack. Mason grabs her arm and slashes her tricep with his dagger causing her to drop her own knife. Mason is already much larger than Adria and her malnourished is no match to him as he practically tosses her to the ground like a rag doll. Adria slowly climbs back up to her feet, "C'mon you can do better than that," Mason mocks. Mason wants to put on a show but the excitement of seeing another tribute since the Bloodbath fuels him to waste no time. He quickly stabs his dagger into Adria's chest hitting her heart just like he was trained to do. It only takes a second before her cannon booms.

8. Adria Goodrich, D9- stabbed in the chest by Mason Hatcher, D2

Mason is almost giddy as he races back to the Cornucopia. Victoria is shocked to see him running towards her and so she grabs her own sword but he quickly lets her know that he just got another kill. Mason retells the story to Victoria who fakes a cheerful smile for him. Mason rests with Victoria at the Cornucopia for the rest of the day until Kale and Solei return. Over dinner, Mason retells his story but this time giving a much more dramatic performance. "This story gets more entertaining each time he tells it," Victoria whispers to Solei. "I think Kale is really loving it," Solei whispers back with a giggle. Kale glares down at his dinner of pasta and red sauce with his jaw clenched as Mason continues his story of glorious triumph.

As for the rest of the tributes, not much occurred. However, Laura began to notice that each corridor had a pointing hand at about eye level. Once she spotted the first one she was amazed by the fact that she hadn't noticed them before. She followed the hands for a while before coming to the conclusion that they must be pointing in the direction of the Cornucopia. Laura debates with herself on whether to follow the hands to see if they lead to the Cornucopia or to wait until tomorrow. She ultimately decides to wait since it's late and all the Careers may be there. Soon after this decision, the anthem plays and Adrias face is projected on the catacomb ceiling. Laura thinks back to training and how she was almost in an alliance with Adria. Adria's true ally in the Games, Kara, is shocked to see her friend's face and she wipes a few tears from her eyes before quickly falling to sleep. Even Avia has some sympathy for Adria even if she wrongly accused her of stealing the bread.

Day Eleven

The Careers once again leave the Cornucopia early to go hunting with Mason staying behind. Mason wasn't a fan of this but it was his turn to stay back and guard the supplies. Kale, Solei, and Victoria spread out in search of tributes. It doesn't take long before Solei finds Kara sleeping in the middle of a passageway. Solei creeps like silent cat next to the slumbering Solei before placing a hand on Kara's mouth. Kara's eyes open in shock and she tries to scream but Solei's hand muffles her cries. "I really wish this was more entertaining but I'm not in the mood to chase after you." Tears swell in Kara's eyes as she tries to fight from underneath Solei. "I pity you, I honestly do," Solei says in a hushed tone. In a flash, Solei whips a dagger from her belt and slashes it across Kara's throat. Kara's eyes bulge as she gurgles and chokes on her own blood but her cannon soon sounds.

7. Kara Falcinelli, D5- throat slashed by Solei Muzak, D1

Solei stands up from Kara's body and gives it a disgusted look, "That was messier than I expected," she says as she wipes her bloody hands on her pants. Solei continues hunting for tributes because she'd rather walk the catacombs alone before spending the day alone with Mason at the Cornucopia. Victoria and Kale have no luck and return back to the Cornucopia later in the evening. Solei returns last but tells them of her kill, with much less theatrics than Mason's story. Laura roamed the arena a little bit before following the hands on the walls to the center of the arena. She ended up at the opening of the catacombs that holds the Cornucopia but luckily she was on the backside of the Cornucopia and didn't spot any Careers before returning deeper into the catacombs. Avia spent the day doing nothing but hiding in a nook of a corridor. She has ran out of food and water and the only weapon is her femur bone which she used to kill Mikayla with.

Day Twelve

Kale wakes up early and starts to cook breakfast for the rest of the Careers. Mason is quick to wake up by the smell and takes a seat near Kale.

"So when are we going to break up?" Mason asks.

"What do you mean break up?" Kale asks back as he cracks an egg into a pan.

"The Careers. There's only two other outliers left and they're not strong tributes. There's no point in us coming back to the Cornucopia each evening if we can just stay out and hunt for the left," Mason replies.

"We're not breaking up. We're all staying together until the end. The decision is final," Kale grits back.

"I don't know why you're the one who gets to make the decisions," Mason mutters under his breath.

"Because I'm in charge! I make the decisions because I know how to get one of us to the end!" Kale yells. The yelling wakes both Victoria and Solei who quickly orient themselves to the situation.

"I don't remember putting you in charge. When did we decide that you were in charge, huh," Mason quips back.

Kale grabs his spear from the ground and stands up over Mason. "Kale, calm down. Mason is just being dumb right now," Victoria says soothingly.

Mason chuckles, "Don't worry Vic, I'm not afraid. Fish boy won't hurt me. We've got to stick together right? Final four to the..." Before Mason can finish Kale plunges his spear into Mason's chest. "Don't call me fish boy," Kale hisses.

"Kale! Mason!" Victoria yells as Mason's body slumps to the ground. Solei sits in shock at the scene before her. Kale stares down at Mason as the District Two boy struggles to breathe. Victoria grabs a dagger nearby and slashes it across Kale's abdomen. Kale yells in pain as his guts spill to the floor. Confusion crosses Kale's face as he collapses to the ground. "What...why?" Kale stutters as he watches the blood spill from his abdomen. Victoria rushes over to Mason but it's too late to save him and his cannon booms which is soon followed by Kale's.

5. Kale Kaho, D4- abdomen slashed by Victoria Renfrow, D2

Victoria pats Mason's cheek before sitting back down beside Solei. Victoria wipes a single tear from her eye, "They were both idiots," she huffs. Solei weakly pats Victoria on the back, "I honestly thought it was gonna happen sooner. I wish they would have done it farther away from the Cornucopia, I hate the smell of blood. I'll drag Kale away, he's lighter, you take Mason."

Victoria nods her head and stands up, "I hate boys," she says with a soft laugh. "We all do," Solei responds with a smirk.

The sound of two cannons wakes Laura and Avia. They both made it to the final four against all odds. Laura knows that she will need a game plan for tomorrow. She knows that the other three tributes left are likely Careers so she will have to outsmart them. She assumes that they may not know the hand pointing in the catacombs so she could use that to her advantage. She knows that won't be enough to beat them though, she needs a trap. Laura then has the epiphany of using the kerosene lanterns on the walls as she did with the rat mutts. Laura spends the rest of the day working out the kinks of her plan. Avia on the other hand has no plan. She knows that her winning is a low chance. She only has a femur bone as a weapon and she's greatly dehydrated. She only hopes that the rest of the tributes kill each other before she shows up.

Day Thirteen

Laura wakes up fairly early and she starts to put her plan into action. She makes her way towards the center of the catacombs to the Cornucopia. She peeks from a corner down a corridor and sees Solei and Victoria eating breakfast together. The two Careers are getting fueled up and making a game plan for what is likely to be the endgame. Laura then goes to work making her trap. It's fairly simple, she collects the kerosene lanterns from the walls and uses the kerosene to drench the ground, and then she collects more lanterns to be used as fuel and ignitors. Laura focuses her mind and races down the corridor out into the opening that holds the Cornucopia. Both Solei and Victoria spot Laura and grab their weapons while leaping to their feet. Laura doesn't have to pretend to put a look of fear on her face, but she's thankful that they grabbed their preferred weapons; daggers and a sword. If her plan works all Laura has to do is outrun the Career pair. Laura has a ten-yard lead on the Careers which gives her a good head start. Laura races down the corridor and rounds the corner. She quickly grabs two lanterns from the ground. Solei and Victoria run around the corner, straight into the massive puddle of kerosene and Laura flings the two lit lanterns at Solei and Victoria. The first lantern crashes into Solei's chest dousing her in kerosene and instantly lighting her on fire. The second one lands at Victoria's feet and it lights the kerosene puddle on fire. Solei falls back onto Victoria and the two girls fall onto the ground as Laura throws two more lanterns at the girls for good measure. The two Career girls scream out in pain as their tribute uniforms melt and their skin burns. Laura watches in horror as they roll around in the kerosene, only making their situation worse. After a few minutes, all of the kerosene burns away. Solei and Victoria moan and wail in pain but their skin is burnt so bad that they can't move and their voices are hoarse. Laura is shocked at how well her plan worked and is horrified that the girls are still alive. In order to put them out of their misery, Laura uses her trident and stabs both girls into the chest, and their cannons boom.

3. Victoria Renfrow, D2- burned & stabbed by Laura Lee, D12

Without wasting any time Laura heads back to the Cornucopia. She knows that Avia is the only surviving tribute. Laura assumes that she will be weak and will be easy to finish off. Laura waits at the Cornucopia and snacks on the breakfast that Victoria and Solei were eating earlier. Meanwhile, Avia is gathering her bearings. The two cannons before woke her up and now she knows that only one other person will stand in her way to victory. However, she doesn't have high hopes since her only weapon is a femur bone. She also hasn't eaten or drank anything in four days. Avia tries to make her way to the Cornucopia and tries to devise a plan along the way, but she ends up getting completely lost. The Gamemakers send in a horde of rat mutts to lead her to the Cornucopia. The rat mutts leap onto Avia to guide her in the right direction but they don't harm her. Avia stumbles into the opening holding the Cornucopia gasping for air and the rat mutts recede deeper into the catacombs. Laura stands up and pulls out her trident and Avia's face blanches. She is shocked to see Laura standing in front of her. Avia only has her femur bone and so she sprints to the backside of the Cornucopia and Laura follows after her. Avia runs around to the mouth of the Cornucopia and desperately searches for a weapon to use. However, the Careers had moved all the weapons to the back of the Cornucopia. Avia runs into the Cornucopia but Laura has caught up to her. Laura lunges forward with her trident and it stabs Avia in the left shoulder and Avia falls to the ground. Laura pulls back and goes for a killing blow but Avia rolls out of the way and swings her bone. It connects with Laura's left knee and she howls in pain. Laura almost crumbles to the ground but she falls forwards and aims her trident at Avia's chest. Avia tries to roll away again but she's met with the side of the Cornucopia. With nowhere to go Laura's trident impales Avia in the chest. Avia screams and chokes as she gasps for air and blood starts to pool from her chest and mouth. Within a few seconds her cannon booms.

"Congratulations, Laura Lee of District Twelve. You are the Victor of the 93rd Hunger Games!"

Laura cries out in pain and in happiness. She tries to stand up but her knee crumbles under her so she has to limp out of the Cornucopia where a ladder is there to lift her into the hovercraft above. As she is lifted up into the hovercraft she can't help but cry as she clutches Lacey's ring that hangs around her neck.
