Maybe Nami should have anticipated the scene that awaited her when she opened the door to her room and returned to the deck with Luffy.
Only now did she hear the loud shouting, seemingly coming from Chopper.

»What the - ...«, she muttered, looking for help from Robin, who was closest to her and also observing the scene. Apparently, Robin was torn about whether to intervene or not.

»COME ON, CHOPPER, SPILL IT NOW!«, Sanji hissed, angrily following the small reindeer across the deck, completely unaware that Luffy and Nami had joined them again. »Tell me what's wrong with Nami-san!«

Chopper, surprisingly fast on his short legs, shouted something that sounded like »Doctor-patient confidentiality!« but was then drowned out by another scream from the reindeer.

Robin seemed to have seen enough as she crossed her arms and conjured up another pair of hands a few meters in front of Sanji's feet. She held onto his ankles, and the cook, unable to react quickly enough, fell flat on his face. As luck would have it, he landed right in front of Nami.

»N-Nami-san...«, he mumbled, looking dejected as he struggled to get up on all fours before her.

The fact that Nami was still in her pajamas and pink slippers did not make her any less intimidating. She put her hands on her hips and glared down at him.

»What was that supposed to be?«, she snapped.

The cook swallowed nervously. »I just wanted to know what ailed you. But only to take care of you, Nami-san!« he assured her, to which Nami only rolled her eyes.

She knew Sanji meant well and probably just wanted to make sure his cooking wasn't the cause of her condition. However, he had not only massively invaded her privacy but also terrorized poor Chopper. The ship's doctor had sought refuge in Robin's arms and still clung to her, terrified.

»Next time, you ask ME«, she replied coldly. She couldn't pinpoint exactly where the chill in her voice came from. She averted her gaze from Sanji, who still knelt at her feet, and instead looked at the rest of the crew.

»I'm fine, guys. Just a bit of a stomach bug. It's not a big deal, don't worry«, she lied, forcing a smile. »Can we just continue as usual now? Thank you.«

»Wait! Nami-san!«, Sanji called, quickly getting up as she turned away. »Are you feeling better now? Should I cook something for you? You haven't eaten anything all day!«

His concern for her was somehow touching, even though the thought of food already made Nami's stomach churn again. She would have preferred to decline Sanji's offer and retreat to her bed, but then she remembered that she was no longer solely responsible for herself.

»Hmm... maybe soup?«, she pondered aloud. Liquid seemed to stay down. Sanji nodded enthusiastically, as if she had just provided the solution to world peace, exclaiming, »Aye Aye, Nami-san!« and disappearing quickly into the kitchen.

While the rest of the crew returned to their activities, Nami caught Luffy's gaze. Her captain studied her before offering an encouraging smile.

After informing Chopper about her decision to keep the pregnancy a secret for a few days, he immediately set to work making a medication to help with her nausea. He didn't want to give her any of the pills he kept on hand for the crew, unsure if they were suitable for pregnant women. So, she would have to live with the nausea for a few days.

Surprisingly, the person who suffered the most from her nausea was not Nami herself. Sanji went to great lengths to prepare her meals as digestible as possible and was visibly disheartened each time she couldn't keep them down. After noticing that the smell of the food was often enough to trigger her nausea, he developed a new tactic. This led to him presenting Nami with a selection of ingredients one by one during breakfast, creating her lunch based on her choices.

»That's okay«, Nami said when he presented an eggplant to her. Sanji nodded in understanding and exchanged the eggplant for a sweet potato. Nami grimaced before he could even offer it to her, prompting him to quickly put it aside.

»Is it contagious?« grumbled Zoro, who was finishing the last bites of his breakfast and scrutinizing Nami.

»Shut up, you dumb moss head«, Sanji snapped angrily, but in the next moment, he looked like he was about to cry because Nami rejected another vegetable with a disgusted look.

»I don't think you have to worry about anything«, Nami retorted with a raised eyebrow. »With your sake consumption, your body should be permanently disinfected.«

The laughter of the others filled the room, and Zoro mumbled something incomprehensible. Nami could have sworn she heard the word »witch« in his mumbling.

Sanji stared at the two ingredients that didn't elicit an immediate negative reaction from Nami.

A honeydew melon and an eggplant.

He let out a sigh between his teeth.

»I'm sorry«, Nami said meekly. He put in so much effort, only for her to barely keep down any of his meals. At least none of it went to waste, thanks to having Luffy on board – a perk of having a bottomless pit for a captain.

Sanji immediately lifted his head and looked at her. »You don't have to apologize, Nami-san! I can cook something delicious for you from these, I'm sure!«, he assured her with a smile.

She returned his smile hesitantly and stifled a yawn the next moment. »I'll lie down again«, she told her friends, surprised to see Robin also getting up.

»Do you mind if I join you? I stayed up late yesterday finishing my book«, she explained. Nami shrugged. »No, not at all.«

They said goodbye to the guys and returned to their shared room.

However, Robin seemed to have no intention of going to sleep right away. She sat with crossed legs on her bed, watching Nami.

»What?«, Nami asked as she settled in and pulled her blanket up to her chin.

»Nothing, nothing«, Robin replied, maintaining eye contact.

Nami felt herself getting more nervous. »Did Chopper tell you something?«

»No, what should he have told me?«

»Then Luffy?«

Robin blinked and smiled slightly. »No one told me anything.«

Nami sat up instantly. »But you know something!«

Robin's smile widened. »I wouldn't call it knowing. More like a suspicion.»

Nami narrowed her eyes. »And what suspicion do you have?«, she asked slowly.

»That there's more to your lack of appetite than just an upset stomach or some other illness«, Robin dryly replied.

Nami swallowed. »How do you figure that?«

The older woman chuckled softly. »Well, aside from the fact that you've barely kept anything down for days, you've been experiencing rapidly changing moods lately. And also, all your tops seem to have shrunk because they've become a whole size too small for your bust.«

Nami felt her cheeks heat up. »I don't have rapidly changing moods«, she grumbled. That was all she could say because Robin had pretty much hit the nail on the head.

»Forgive me, but you almost burst into tears yesterday because Usopp caught a fish«, Robin retorted.

Nami felt tears welling up in her eyes again.
»Yes, but only because he was so happy about it«, she whimpered defensively, taking a deep breath.

Robin still had a smile on her face.

Of course, she couldn't fool her. Not only were they sharing a room, but Robin was also highly intelligent. She had undoubtedly noticed that something was amiss with her friend.

Robin seemed to interpret Nami's silence as confirmation. »Congratulations«, she said warmly, standing up to put an arm around her friend as tears streamed down her face again. »Who's the lucky one, if I may ask?«

»I have no idea«, Nami sobbed. »Well, yes, I do know who it is. But it was just a one-time thing right before we reunited in Sabaody. It wouldn't have been a big deal otherwise, but... well.« She shrugged.

Robin gently stroked her back. »So, you're not happy about it?«, she asked hesitantly.

Nami sighed. »At first... it felt like the end of the world. But now... I don't know, it somehow feels a bit more real. I never thought about whether I wanted children. But now that I've gotten used to the idea... I'm kind of looking forward to it.«

Robin had rested her cheek against Nami's head. From this position, Nami could feel her lips forming a smile.

»I'm glad to hear that«, she replied. »And if I may say so: Your child will probably be the most loved baby in the entire pirate world.«
