Hey Everyone, Miles here to say, like every fanfic, I don't own any of the media that I use or reference. I'm just telling a story and that's all there is to it.

Episode 8: Unfortunance With The Sailor of Death and Rebirth

ll

ll

Usagi argued with Haruka and Michiru before they suddenly disconnected.

ll

ll

(Usagi) And just when I was starting to trust those two.

ll

(Rei) Wait, Usagi! Where do you think you're going?

ll

(Usagi) We can't let them do this! For all we know, this could be extremely dangerous for them and they don't even know it.

ll

(Ami) But how do you know that?

ll

(Usagi) What?

ll

(Ami) I'm just saying that your conclusion seems a bit extreme. You say it could put them in danger, but how so?

ll

ll

(Usagi) Are you seriously saying that we should just let them do this?! Just let them take her from her father? Think about it? What if that were one of us? Would you still justify it?

ll

(Ami) I'm not saying I justify it, but I would feel safer if she were with one of the Sailor Guardians. Now, I want you to think about this. Would you rather her be with her family and at risk from just being around them? Or in the protective care of our fellow Sailor Guardians.

ll

ll

After some more convincing, they got Usagi to settle down and understand that what their fellow Sailor Guardians were doing wasn't the best thing to do, but it was something that would make their last member more safe from the infected. They even waited for an hour after midnight, just to be sure she wouldn't sneak out.

ll

ll

ll

Meanwhile, Sailor Neptune and Uranus...

ll

ll

(Haruka) How much further?

ll

(Michiru) Just a few more blocks, its close.

ll

ll

(Haruka) Good, these things are a pain in the ass to deal with.

ll

(Michiru) yes, yes, I understand, now lets keep going.

ll

ll

The two arrived at the home where Hotaru lived with her father, who still had amnesia.

ll

The lights were off, the staff had all left for the day, but there were security cameras outside, monitoring the building.

ll

ll

(Haruka) You think they'll see through the cloaks?

ll

(Michiru) Not at all.

ll

ll

The two went inside through a back door they had to silently break using Haruka's holy artifact.

ll

After gaining entry, the two walked inside, still wearing the cloaks.

ll

ll

It was strange, all the doors were closed, some of them were even boarded shut.

ll

(Haruka) What the hell...?

ll

ll

The two searched the building looking for Hotaru's last name on one of the door plaques.

ll

(Haruka) What was her last name again?

ll

(Michiru) I believe it was Tomoe.

ll

ll

The two looked for a while. Then after 5 minutes, Michiru heard Haruka call her.

ll

(Haruka) Found it!

ll

ll

Michiru was confused as to why Haruka has looked a little hopeless.

ll

That was, until Michiru realized that the door with the plaque "Tomoe", was one of the doors that had been boarded shut.

ll

(Michiru) No... You don't think...

ll

(Haruka) Of course not. But just in case, we're going in weapons drawn.

ll

Each summoned their weapons.

ll

Then, Haruka ripped each of the boards off and kicked the door down.

ll

They went in, expecting something to charge at them, but no.

ll

There was just a single corpse. It was Hotaru's father. A hole was through his head and there was dried blood near it. It didn't seem that there was any effort to get Hotaru out, but there was soft, muffled crying in the far corner of the room, opposite of where the body lay.

ll

ll

(Haruka) Hotaru? Hotaru Tomoe, is that you?

ll

ll

The crying stopped and there was silence.

ll

ll

(Michiru) Hotaru. It's us. Haruka and Michiru.

ll

ll

The girl came out of the corner as if she were an apparition. She was uninjured but she had aged to about 16. Meaning that her body had reacted to the crisis of the infection.

ll

ll

(Hotaru) What are you doing here?

ll

ll

(Haruka) We want you to live with us for a while. We don't want to risk leaving you in a dangerous place like this.

ll

ll

(Hotaru) But what about my dad? He's still there on the floor. I can't leave him like this.

ll

ll

(Michiru) I'm sorry Hotaru, but we cannot bury him right now. It's too dangerous to touch anything that is deceased. We can't risk infection

ll

ll

(Hotaru) But... I can't...

ll

ll

A swift chop landed on the back of Hotaru's neck, knocking her unconscious.

ll

ll

(Michiru) What the- Haruka, you didn't need to do that!

ll

ll

(Haruka) What, would you rather me hit her with my gun, gut punch her or or just tell her to accept her dads death and to move on?

ll

(Michiru)... I still think we could've convinced her.

ll

ll

(Haruka) Sure, like we've convinced Bun Head in the past. I still think that we did the right thing.

ll

ll

ll

The two left out of the back and went past the security cameras in the front and went home, successful in their mission.

ll

ll

The two snuck Hotaru out of the facility and went straight home.

ll

ll

Their next problem, hiding the girl from the military. Thanks to Usagi and the inner Sailor Guardians, they raided their apartment as well. They threw things around looking everywhere for the criminals that the inner Sailor Guardians were now.

ll

Now, instead of telling the investigators and detectives the truth, they had to find a way for Hotaru to live with them in hiding until something else gets their attention.

ll

ll

It was bad enough that Usagi, Minako, Ami, Makoto and their families were being paraded on the news as terrorist that were running around trying to spread the infection. The military never failed to sink lower and lower to avoid taking the blame for the infection. Nobody knows where it came from, but everyone for now is assuming it came from the military as an experiment gone horribly wrong.

ll

ll

The two walked into the large apartment. Michiru and Haruka were glad the mission was a success and that Usagi didn't try to stop them.

ll

ll

(Haruka) I guess they were able to stop her. Good thing because SHE would've been in danger herself, seeing how reckless she can be. Right Michiru?

ll

ll

Haruka expected to hear some kind of agreement but Michiru tapped her shoulder and motioned her eyes towards Hotaru who had awoken after they had laid her down. Hotaru, usually calm and collected, no matter the situation, even death, seemed to just be staring out through the window at the sky. She was completely still, except for the motion of her breathing.

ll

ll

(Haruka) Hey... Hotaru. You okay?

ll

ll

ll

Hotaru did move, but she responded.

ll

ll

(Hotaru) I know that we are originally of this world... But I never knew it would be so hard to lose someone like him.

ll

ll

(Michiru) you mean the doctor, the person that was your father correct?

ll

ll

(Hotaru) Yes.

ll

ll

(Haruka) What happened in there anyway?

ll

ll

(Hotaru) It all began a week ago. I noticed that he was getting extremely sick. He would go into coughing fits even though he had worn the gas masks we were given. He would vomit blood randomly every day without fail. Each day his condition would worsen. I stayed by his side, no matter what the nurses told me. He tried to tell me to listen to them but I didn't care, all that mattered was that I was with him for his last moments...

ll

ll

As she spoke, it sounded like she was mourning. She shook a little as she continued. She didn't want them to see that she had tears forming in her eyes as the reality set in. This time, her father was the one who died, and there was no way of bringing her back. There was no demon to plead with to switch places or to sacrifice herself for him, he was gone and there was nothing she could do.

ll

ll

(Hotaru) But... o-on the last day, they just boarded up his room like some of the others. They locked us in and treated us like we were dead. Then... a while later... he moved. I...I thought that he was finally better. T-then before I knew it, he attacked me and I impaled him.

ll

ll

Michiru went over and tried to comfort the girl by putting and hand on her shoulder.

ll

(Michiru) Hotaru... I'm so sorry, I-

ll

Hotaru spun around as the hand tapped her shoulder.

ll

(Hotaru) I DIDN'T MEAN TO! He was about to... and then I...I...

ll

The girl broke down. She was used to giving her life for others, but she had never taken a persons life with her powers, even if they were just a puppet for an infection.

ll

ll

The two girls didn't really know what to do. They weren't the best at comforting someone after death, especially in a case like this, but they knew someone who knew what this felt like.

ll

ll

(Haruka) I'll be right back.

ll

(Michiru) Where are you going!?

ll

(Haruka) Don't worry.

ll

(Michiru) What the!?-

ll

ll

ll

Haruka went into another room and closed the door.

ll

ll

ll

Her transceiver activated.

ll

ll

ll

ll

ll

Usagi was talking to the girls about the news when her transceiver buzzed.

ll

ll

(Usagi) What the?

ll

ll

(Rei) What is it Usagi?

ll

ll

(Usagi) It's Haruka.

ll

ll

(Minako) That's odd, why would they only be contacting Usagi?

ll

ll

ll

(Usagi) They might be in trouble!

ll

ll

Usagi answered quickly.

ll

ll

ll

(Haruka) Hey Bun Head. Are you alone right now?

ll

ll

(Usagi) No, why?

ll

ll

(Haruka) I need to speak with you in private. Is that okay?

ll

ll

(Rei, Ami, Makoto, Minako, Luna and Artemis Simultaneously) (Alone!? Why would she want to speak to her alone?) (I know, I'll follow her and listen in to their conversation.)

ll

ll

ll

(Usagi) Hey guys, is it okay if I speak to her in private for a minute?

ll

ll

(Rei) Oh sure!

ll

(Ami) Yeah, take your time.

ll

(Makoto) Okay.

ll

(Minako) I don't see why not.

ll

ll

ll

(Usagi) Ok, I'll be back in a minute.

ll

ll

ll

Usagi went outside, transformed into her Sailor Form and went onto the roof for privacy. Everyone else gathered under the roof where she was to listen in.

ll

ll

(Usagi) So, what is it Haruka? Did everything go well with Hotaru?

ll

ll

(Haruka) The mission was successful, but that's not what I'm talking about.

ll

(Usagi) Than what's up?

ll

ll

(Haruka) When we got Hotaru... it turns out that her father became infected and she...killed... her father. We don't know how to help her and I thought... maybe you could.

ll

ll

Everyone was stunned. They all looked at each other, wishing they hadn't gone out there.

ll

ll

You could hear Usagi getting sad on the phone as she continued to talk to Haruka

ll

(Usagi) I... I see. On my way now.

ll

ll

From the roof, Usagi leapt onto the wall and left the Shrine with pistol in hand.

ll

ll

ll

(Minako) What do we do?

ll

(Rei) We wait until she comes back.

ll

(Makoto) But it isn't safe out there! She could die!

ll

(Ami) Don't say such things! She is our friend. You should know by now that if someone needs help, she won't hesitate.

ll

(Rei) I agree. She may not look it, but she can hold her own out there without our help.

ll

ll

The girls went inside and anxiously awaited their friends return.

ll

ll

ll

It started to rain as she ran. She ran as fast as she could to get to Hotaru. The girl has sacrificed her life for her in the past to defend the Earth, she didn't deserve this to be put upon her.

ll

ll

As she ran, a few completely infected people crossed her path.

ll

ll

ll

*Bang* *Bang* *Bang* *Bang*

ll

ll

Shots were heard from people in their homes. Some even watched as Sailor Moon passed their homes, exterminating people that were too far gone with the infection.

ll

ll

She may be an enemy to the military, but in the people's eyes, she was still their Sailor Moon, who fought for love and justice.

ll

ll

People began to cheer her on as she went by.

ll

ll

There was an undercover living in one house that spotted her. The military was notified.

ll

ll

She ran and ran until she powered down as she arrived.

ll

ll

They heard a knock at the door and it was Usagi, completely dry after powering down.

ll

ll

(Haruka) Usagi-

ll

ll

Usagi walked past her and found Hotaru.

ll

ll

(Hotaru) Usagi, i-

ll

ll

Usagi walked right up to Hotaru and without hesitation tightly hugged the girl.

ll

ll

It was like a mother embracing her child. Usagi held Hotaru as she cried into her arms loudly. Usagi listened as Hotaru tried to tell her through her sobs.

ll

ll

(Hotaru) It wasn't my fault! It was an accident! I SWEAR!...I just want him back, even if just for a moment.

ll

(Usagi) I know. I understand Hotaru, it's okay, you're safe now... I know it wasn't your fault... I'm sorry Hotaru.

ll

ll

The two stayed together for a while, not moving, just letting emotions go.

ll

ll

After a while, Hotaru calmed down a bit.

ll

ll

(Hotaru) I'm sorry... I just...can't.

ll

ll

(Usagi) I know... because something similar happened to me.

ll

ll

(Hotaru) Yes... I remember. That boy, Akari, right?

ll

(Usagi) Yes. The thing is, he was a recent friend of mine.

ll

Hotaru looked at Usagi with wide eyes, not knowing.

ll

(Hotaru) He was a friend?

ll

ll

(Usagi) Yes. I had only known him a couple months before this all started. He was also Mamoru's best friend from childhood.

ll

ll

(Hotaru) Really? Then how? How were you able to... you know?

ll

ll

(Usagi) The same as you Hotaru, I reacted automatically. It wasn't until my Moon Tiara was back on my head that I realized what I had done.

ll

ll

ll

(Hotaru) I'm... I'm so sorry that happened.

ll

ll

(Usagi) It's okay... But that is why I am here. I'm here because I reacted. I also saved the lives of my friends and the people around me. But what I'm trying to say really is that, reacting the way you did, it saved your life. Your father probably wouldn't be able to forgive himself in the afterlife if you had gone after he had killed you. Now though, he'll probably be proud of you and grateful that you didn't let him kill you, his only daughter, or anyone else.

ll

ll

(Hotaru) You...really thinks so?

ll

ll

(Usagi) Of course I do. Because that's how I would feel if I were in that situation. I also think that's how Akari probably felt after he sucumbed to the infection.

ll

ll

(Hotaru) I see...

ll

ll

Haruka looked outside.

ll

ll

(Haruka) SHIT! Usagi, you gotta go, theres military coming!

ll

ll

Usagi calmly got up and walked towards the door.

ll

ll

(Hotaru) WAIT!

ll

ll

(Usagi) Yeah?

ll

ll

(Hotaru) Thank you, Usagi Tsukino. I know we've disagreed in the past, but I'm glad e can still be friends.

ll

ll

Usagi smiled a little.

ll

ll

(Usagi) Yeah, me too Hotaru.

ll

ll

Usagi ran out of the door, put on an invisible cloak and went back to the Shrine, avoiding all of the military squadrons that were looking for her.

ll

ll

She returned to the Shrine, powered down and went back with her friends.

ll

ll

ll

All of her friends were relieved as she walked in.

ll

ll

(Rei) Usagi!

ll

Rei went up and hugged the girl.

ll

ll

(Ami) We heard soldiers in the neighborhood, saying that there was a reported sighting of Sailor Moon.

ll

(Minako) We thought you might've been caught or worse.

ll

ll

(Makoto) Yeah, we were worried about you.

ll

ll

ll

(Usagi) Sorry, I just, had to take care of something, see as you guys know what that thing was because everyone was outside.

ll

ll

Everyone was shocked, how did she know that they were out there.

ll

ll

(Makoto) Um, what are you talking about Usagi?

ll

ll

(Usagi) When I left, I caught a glimpse of everyone's shadow on the building's wall.

ll

ll

(Ami) I see, then.. how is she?

ll

ll

(Usagi) She's fine now. It was just like what happened to me. She reacted out of instinct and killed someone that was infected, but also someone that was close to her.

ll

ll

The group talked about what happened for a little while before going to sleep.

ll

ll

The next morning, Usagi called her father and Mamoru into a private room. She wanted to talk to them at the same time.
