12:04:14, after sleeping until morning, Snowden checks his inverted digital watch and learns that he and the others have been sleeping for fifteen hours. He then wakes Francis, Zoey and Louis up and checks the weather.

Snowden: Rise and shine, people. You wanna move out? Then come on now.

Francis: Alright, alright, I'm up now, mom.

Zoey: *yawns* How long have we been asleep?

Snowden: Fifteen hours.

Zoey: No way. What time is it?

Snowden: High noon. 12:04 to be specific.

Louis: How's the weather outside?

Snowden: *looks outside* Way better than last night. Nothing more than a light drizzle.

Francis: So, where are we off to next, Snow'?

Snowden: Ft. Lauderdale, a U.S. Army base not far from here.

Louis: Why not the airport?

Snowden: Well, with all the open, barely guarded space, every chopper or suitable plane there is most likely destroyed by now. With so many people desperately trying to escape when The Infection hit, there'll be more zombies than we can handle. And if we need to get outta here by wheels, the cars and trucks there are shit for escaping zombies. We'll need a military-grade vehicle.

Louis: I see.

Zoey: Sounds good. You boys ready?

[safe house door opens]

Snowden: Follow me. I'll take you guys there, no problem.

Once outside the Police Station, the Army Ranger accompanies his teammates through Little Havana. Where visibility is clear and the streets are covered in natural and man-made debris.

Snowden: Gonna take a pretty long while until this place is cleaned up, let alone populated again. *sighs*

Seven minutes of walking later, they reach the end of Little Havana and start passing by Miami International Airport. Killing a few Commons, Florida Men with P220 Pistols and Sniper Rifles, an Acid Spitter, and a Hunter along the way.

[gunfire]

Snowden: We're halfway there, keep it up!

[Spitter Voice]

[Spitter Spits]

[Sniper Rifle fire]

[Spitter Death]

Zoey: Nailed it!

[acid sizzling]

Louis: Ow! Ow! Ow!

Zoey: Ow, this shit burns!

[Hunter Growls]

[Combat Submachine Gun fire]

[Hunter Death]

Snowden: Enemy down.

Francis: Good one!

Snowden: There's Miami International. Unless you wanna fight a war you can't win, stay away from there and do not attract their attention. So let's get moving this way before we unintentionally do.

After fifteen more minutes of running and gunning in case some trouble is tailing them, the group reaches the Army Base. Where there are numerous dead soldiers, civilians and Infected, a few Humvees and MRAP (Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected) Troop Tansports in good condition, and an unusual vehicle bolted down to one of the installation's helipads.

Louis: Looks like a war went on not too long ago.

Zoey: At least they killed all the zombies.

Snowden: Yeah, but still, stay sharp.

Francis: Yo, Captain Snowden, can we take these cool trucks?

Snowden: Maybe. They look good. Perhaps if we can't find... a chopper.

What Snowden is looking at is an HH-60M MEDEVAC Black Hawk helicopter that appears to belong to a civilian hospital because of the red and white paint job.

Snowden: Now that is exactly what we need.

Zoey: That's an air ambulance, right?

Snowden: Mm-hmm, you're a smart kid.

Francis: So let's take it, fly outta here and not stop until we see civilization. Right?

Snowden: Damn straight. Come on, we can get around these fires and barbed wire through the infirmary.

The bird is on the other side of a few fences with barbed wire and burning aircraft fuel. But there is a safe way around them through the Army Base's infirmary.

And it is not only a path around the flames that the survivors find there.

Snowden: Just as I thought. Whatever CEDA was trying to hide from the civilians with their tactical maps, they couldn't hide it from the U.S. Military. *points* Look, CEDA says the entire Eastern Seaboard has fallen.

Zoey: But the Army says Washington D.C. is still standing.

Snowden: Makes sense.

Zoey: What doesn't is why try to hide it. Can you check these dead bodies, Snowden? I got a bad feeling about this.

Snowden: *checks dead bodies* You're right. These bodies are not infected. And they just have bullet holes on them.

Francis: Hey Snow', I've been thinkin'. Could the same candy-asses that attacked us on the ship and killed Brianna be involved in all this?

Snowden: I don't know. But if they are and still here, we need to leave. NOW.

Louis: Shit! What else do we do?

Snowden: The air ambulance, go.

Upon reaching the air ambulance, Snowden checks its components and fuel.

Snowden: Good news is the chopper's intact. The bad news is it needs fuel. Which means we're gonna get the attention of possibly every zombie in Miami International Airport. You know how loud aircraft fuel pumps are?

Zoey: Yeah, we've refueled a massive military plane before. And it wasn't quiet.

Snowden: Alright, thanks for the tip. Listen up, we gotta refuel the air ambulance in order to make it to D.C. Once that's done, you gotta cover me while I shut off the pump, detach the fuel line, disconnect her from the helipad and start her up. It's not gonna be quiet so be ready for a long fight. When things get tough, remember this: The only way home is winning. Defensive positions, let's go! *claps*

Francis: Aye-aye, Captain!

Louis: Let's do it!

While Louis and Zoey set up around the helipad, Snowden and Francis turn on the fuel pump.

[fuel pump starts]

Snowden: Yes, we're in business!

Francis: Awesome!

[Left 4 Dead 1 horde screeching]

Snowden: Lock and load! Ready up, people!

[gunfire]

[Tropic Nightmare Horde Theme plays]

As expected, the zombies from Miami International Airport notice the commotion from the Army Base and start swarming the place. To tip the odds in the favor of those who would use the air ambulance, a Minigun is placed on the helipad by the fallen.

Snowden: One rifleman needs to get on the Minigun! We need the edge!

Louis: I'll do it!

[Minigun spooling]

[Minigun fire]

Louis: Yeeeaaah! Whooo, baby!

While Louis mows down the incoming Commons and Florida Men armed with M16 Assault Rifles, Combat Rifles, AK-47s, Combat Shotguns and Hunting Rifles, Snowden counters a Smoker trying to constrict him.

Snowden: Short bursts, don't wanna melt any of those barrels!

[Smoker Voice]

Snowden: Oh NOOO!

[Combat Submachine Gun fire]

[Smoker Death]

Snowden: Screw you!

A Charger successfully gets Francis and starts pummeling him, but Zoey was ready to get some payback!

[Charger Voice]

Francis: Charger's beating my— Argh!

[Sniper Rifle fire]

[Charger Death]

Zoey: Payback's a bitch, ain't it?!

Francis: Thanks, Zoey!

With the first wave done, the first Tank charges in while on fire.

Snowden: If the Tank's smart, he'll come through the infirmary. So be smarter.

[Tank Theme plays]

[Tank Yells]

Snowden: Guess not. Kill him while we have the advantage!

[Tank Death]

After the Tank dies, a Boomer approaches the largest fence to put out its fire. Even though Louis manages to kill him before he could puke, the vomit-filled explosion snuffs out the flame.

Louis: There's a Boomer!

[Boomer Death]

Snowden: Ah, should've know it would do that. Try to be careful with our fires. A Boomer can put it out even with its explosion.

[Left 4 Dead 1 horde screeching]

Snowden: Second wave is coming! Check your weapons and ammo!

Zoey: How are we on the fuel?

Snowden: Air ambulance is half full right now. Let's try to be the same.

[gunfire]

Because of all the chaos that the survivors caused during the first attack, the second one is easier to deal with despite losing a literal defensive line of fire. And the smaller horde means the inbound Jockey and Sticky Spitter were too exposed.

[Jockey Voice]

[Combat Shotgun fire]

[Jockey Death]

Francis: Got the little vampire!

Snowden: Vengeance tastes great! Right, Francis?

[Spitter Voice]

[Minigun fire]

[Spitter Death]

Louis: Take that, bitch!

Zoey: Sweet shot!

[gunfire stops]

Snowden: Well done. Now get ready for the second Tank. We should be nearly full at the moment. Just a little bit more.

What comes next is not one but two Tanks.

[Metalized Tank Theme plays]

[Tank Yells]

[Tank Throws]

Francis: Two Tanks?! Aww, I hate the south!

Snowden: Focus fire on one Tank first! Then do the same for the second!

[gunfire]

[Tank Death]

Snowden: Louis, get off the Minigun! That Tank's too close!

Louis: Argh!

Francis: Hold on, buddy! I'm comin'!

Snowden: Louis, to me!

[Tank Death]

Zoey: That was good.

Once the third Tank falls, the air ambulance is ready to go. With that, Snowden gets organized.

[Left 4 Dead 1 horde screeching]

[Left 4 Dead 1 Skin On Our Teeth plays]

Snowden: That's it, we got enough! Cover me!

[gunfire]

Snowden: Shutting down the fuel pump! Louis, use your Pipe Bomb now!

Louis: Pipe Bomb out!

[fuel pump stops]

Snowden: Detaching the fuel line!

[explosion]

Snowden: Disconnecting the air ambulance! Zoey, use your Pipe Bomb!

Zoey first hesitates to do it but quickly realizes that she, Louis and Francis cannot fly and will die if Snowden dies too.

Snowden: Do it!

Zoey: Throwing a Pipe Bomb!

Snowden: Chopper's free! Starting her up!

[explosion]

[air ambulance starts]

Snowden: Get on board! NOOOW!

Francis: RUUUN!

Louis: Close the doors!

Just as Zoey, Francis and Louis run out of ammunition and the fourth Tank closes in, Snowden gets the air ambulance up in the air, saving his team on board.

Francis: We did it! *laughs* Washington D.C., here we come!

Snowden: The Infection will pay for what it did to you, Miami.

[Left 4 Dead 1 The Monsters Within plays]

The survivors have escaped!
