FOREST FIRE
The only way out is to burn in Hell on Earth.
Joining a Campaign game.
Starring: Louis, Francis, Zoey, Snowden
Snowden: Sky's dark already? This fire must've gone on for far too long. Gonna be a short afternoon.
Louis: Are you sure you saw a mansion before we landed?
Snowden: I'm sure. I would've hovered around a bit longer before landing if I wasn't.
Zoey: Fine then.
Snowden: Keep your tanks and masks safe from the fire and Infected. If you lose one of them, you'll die in minutes.
Up ahead, the fires all over the woods are both an advantage and a disadvantage. Concern for the foggy and slight surrounding darkness is not needed because the pathways are well-lit.
Also, they will incinerate any Infected that crosses them, and they are too extensive for Boomers to snuff out. But the flames still make the trees hazardous to the survivors, and the smoke makes it impossible to go around without airway protection or see from afar clearly.
In the Hunting Grounds, Snowden drops his empty Combat Submachine Gun and suddenly encounters a new Uncommon Infected.
[gunfire]
[Combat Submachine Gun clicks]
Snowden: That's it, I'm empty. *drops Combat Submachine Gun*. Wait a minute. *looks ahead* Is that—
[M1911 Pistol and Glock Pistol fire]
A zombie covered in leaves comes out of a bush and charges at Snowden. But it is stopped in its tracks by Francis.
Snowden: I knew it.
Francis: Hey, Snowden, this one's new. What should we call him?
Snowden: If we're gonna encounter more of this sneaky bastard further in, we'll call him the Ghillie Zombie.
Louis: Ghillie Zombie?
Snowden: It comes from the fact that he's wearing a Ghillie Suit. Jackets, hoodies or blankets covered in leaves or grass. Military or civilian snipers wear them to hide from animals or other people.
Francis: Bullshit. If people can hide with this thing, then why is he a zombie?
Snowden: I guess the Infected can sense non-infected living beings with something beyond our normal senses. Maybe blood, body heat, or—
Zoey: Yeah, yeah, whoever made the zombies are geniuses. Can we get moving? I don't like staying here.
Snowden: Okay, but take it slow and smooth. Lots of places for Ghillie Zombies and Specials to hide.
Further in, the survivors find, encounter and kill more Ghillie Zombies before reaching the exit of the Hunting Grounds. What can be found there is a battery-powered lantern and some useful supplies.
Louis: Man, these grass-wearing zombies are everywhere!
Snowden: This must be the designated hunting area of the forest. It could explain why there are so many former Ghillie Snipers here.
Zoey: Hey, guys! I found a lantern, over there. I think its lighting the way out of the hunting grounds.
Snowden: Good find, Zoey. Come on now.
But upon arrival, they are ambushed by a Charger which misses Snowden but catches Zoey and knocks down Louis and Francis. Causing the two men to lose their Glock Pistols midair.
[Charger Voice]
Snowden: Look out! *cartwheels*
Louis and Francis: Argh!
[thud]
[thud]
Zoey: Shoot this God damn thing! Argh! Charger's beating— Argh!
[AK-47 fire]
[Charger Death]
The Army Ranger kills the Charger with an AK-47 from the Hunting Grounds' exit.
Louis: Can you move, Zoey?
Zoey: Yeah, I'll be fine.
Louis: Francis?
Francis: Good thing I'm indestructible.
Snowden: Everyone to the exit! We got weapons over here!
After Zoey, Francis and Louis recover and regroup at the exit, a Random Horde Event starts. Snowden at first plans to use his recently acquired Pipe Bomb to thin the herd, but Louis has it covered with an M60 Machine Gun.
[Forest Fire Horde Theme plays]
[AK-47 fire]
Snowden: We got a horde coming! Guns up!
[gunfire]
Louis: Now this is something I want in my living room! *laughs*
[M60 Machine Gun fire]
Snowden: Awesome shooting, Louis! Keep it up!
A Sticky Spitter comes out of hiding and gets the Army Ranger, but Francis almost immediately moves to cover his back.
[Spitter Voice]
[Spitter Spits]
[Sticky Goo Splattering]
Snowden: Stuck! Sticky Spitter's got me! Wait up!
Francis: Cover Snowden!
[Chrome Shotgun fire]
Snowden: Thank you kindly, Francis.
Francis: I got your back.
Zoey: Sticky Spitter!
[Scout Rifle fire]
[Spitter Death]
Snowden: I'm free! Good to go— Ahhh! Friendly fire, friendly fire!
In order to see if killing him in the midst of chaos is possible, Zoey barely misses Snowden's head on purpose. And the Army Ranger thinks it was unintentional friendly fire.
Regardless of the incident, the survivors find a safe house in the form of an RV (Recreational Vehicle).
Snowden: Safe house in the RV! Should be comfy.
Francis: Alright!
Snowden: I got the door. Get in.
[safe house door closes]
Snowden: Good work. Had some rough edges, but it's good enough.
We're safe... for now.
