17:57:02, after locking the big trailer safe house down, Snowden takes off his oxygen mask to check if the air is breathable.
Snowden: *takes off oxygen mask* Checking the air. Hold up.
[ten seconds later]
Snowden: Alright, the air is nice and clean. You can take your oxygen tanks and masks off now. *takes off oxygen tank*
Francis: Ah! Say, nice house.
Louis: *exhales* Trailer, Francis.
Zoey: *exhales* Okay. What's our next move?
Snowden: This place should be safe from the forest fire and smoke. So I say we earned ourselves a good night's sleep. Get comfortable, use the bathroom and rest well. I'll wake you up in eight hours.
Francis: Thanks, Snowden.
02:00:10, upon waking up, the survivors start opening the cabinets, wardrobes and lockers in the safe room. What they find is a treasure trove of heavy firepower and other valuable goodies.
Snowden: *grabs an FAL Battle Rifle* Taking the Battle Rifle. *grabs a Molotov Cocktail* I got a Molotov here if we need to cover an area. *spots and grabs Laser Sights* Laser Sights right here. Very useful.
Francis: *grabs a Tactical Shotgun* Hello, Tactical Shotgun. I've missed you. *grabs a Sticky Goo Bomb* Looks like someone's getting stuck today. *grabs an Adrenaline Shot* Hey, I'm about to go faster than you guys soon. *grabs Laser Sights* Cool laser pointers here.
Zoey: *grabs a Hunting Rifle* Hunting Rifle? Yes, please. *grabs Laser Sights* This'll make shooting a lot easier.
Snowden: Ghillie camouflaged Hunting Rifle? Time to snipe around like Captain MacMillan.
Louis: *grabs an M16 Assault Rifle* This one's for you, Bill. Hey, Snow'. What's the Army's chant or yell or whatever it's called? I know you guys have one.
Snowden: You mean battle cry. And it's "Hooah".
Louis: Hooah! *grabs Sticky Bombs* Sticky Bombs? I love blowing shit up! *laughs* *grabs Laser Sights* Laser Sights. Man, these bring back some fun memories.
Snowden: So, how did you learn to shoot, Zoey, Louis? Y'all seem pretty good at it.
Zoey: Is that what you think? I mean, what the hell is this anyway?! A simple question or some kind of stupid interview?!
Louis: Alright, Zoey. Calm down, I'll handle this. Well, Snow', I learned how to shoot from instructors in a local shooting range in Philadelphia. It was my favorite hobby. As for Zoey, her dad taught her. He was a cop. And... he was killed by Zoey to avoid turning into a zombie when he got bit.
Snowden: Oh, no. I— I'm sorry, Zoey. My condolences.
Zoey: Too late for condolences, dickhead! *sighs* Whatever.
Louis: Don't worry about her. She'll calm down.
Snowden: *nods* Okay, eight hours is up. Remember to check high and low out there.
[safe house door opens]
Now well-rested and ready to fight, Snowden, Francis, Louis and Zoey exit the Trailer Park and start making their way to the Mansion. After picking off a few Ghillie Zombies and CEDA Worker Infected in the way, they reach a main road.
Louis: We are officially out of the woods.
Snowden: Technically, but not officially. Yet. We still gotta get to that mansion and its airstrip. Move up.
Louis: Why not just drive to D.C.?
Snowden: I ain't having us get out of a car every five minutes to go look for another one because of traffic jams or some technical problem.
Louis: Oh, okay.
Francis: Are we there yet?
Snowden: We're close now. This road should take us straight to the mansion. If we're gonna find the safest, fastest way to Washington D.C., it'll be in its airstrip. Now, I don't expect this area to be completely empty or any of the aircraft to be fueled and ready to fly. Which means we may have to do some more heavy lifting before getting out of this dead countryside. So stay sharp.
Louis: You got it. Incoming!
[M16 Assault Rifle fire]
Snowden: Ugh! I thought you were trained by professionals, not gangsters!
Louis: Sorry!
With all the abandoned cars surrounding the main road and even outside of it, movement was slow. But the lack or even absence of narrow paths is the least of the group's problems, especially Snowden's.
[Baseball Bat hit]
[Tactical Shotgun fire]
[Boomer Groans]
Francis: Boomer!
[FAL Battle Rifle fire]
[Boomer Death]
Snowden: He's gone.
[Charger Voice]
[Hunting Rifle fire]
Zoey: Charger!
[Charger Death]
Snowden: Woah, shit! You are shooting me again, kid!
Zoey: Sorry about that.
Four minutes of walking, hopping and gunning later, the survivors reach the remote-controlled gate of the Mansion. Since the walls have barbed wire on them and the entrance's switch in the security post is shot, the only way in is to crash through again.
This makes Snowden get a police car.
Snowden: Thank God! We're finally here. Just need to get through this gate.
Zoey: Someone try the security checkpoint.
[click click click click]
Snowden: Why can't any button or switch be functional? Looks like we're ramming our way through again. While it's not gonna cause an explosion, it will make quite a racket. So get ready. I'm taking this police car.
[Police car starts]
[crash]
Snowden: *grunts*
The good news is the gateway is open, while the bad news is the Mansion's driveway is filled with cars too. So everyone will still have to go on foot.
[Forest Fire Horde Theme plays]
Snowden: More of these traffic jams! Stay on foot and get moving!
Zoey: Everybody run!
Snowden: Contact!
[gunfire]
Now by the stairs leading to the Mansion's front patio, the group holds to clear out the horde which is building up rather than shrinking. But then a Smoker starts coughing up plumes of its smoke at their position and gets Francis.
[Smoker Coughs]
Snowden: Smoke! Back bac— *coughs*
Zoey and Louis: *coughing*
Francis: Smoker!
[Tactical Shotgun clicks]
[Smoker Voice]
Francis: Reloadi— Nooo! *chokes* Kill the Smoker— *gasps* Shoot the tongue— *continues choking*
Snowden, Zoey and Louis can see Francis getting constricted and beaten to death but cannot get to him yet because of the massive group of zombies nearly overwhelming them. Once dealt with, they were too late.
Francis has been killed.
Snowden: Francis, NOOOO!
While Zoey and Louis kill the Commons and Uncommons who helped murder Francis, the Smoker tries to grab Snowden. But the Army Ranger dodges, catches its tongue, pulls it towards him and bashes its head to bits with his Collapsible Baton.
With the area clear, Louis finds out that the entire Mansion has been converted into one big safe house. So Snowden carries Francis inside, sets him down gently, takes his vest and tank top off, gets Louis' Defibrillator and starts reviving his only friend in the group.
[Defibrillator charging]
Snowden: Ready! One, two, three, clear!
[electric discharge]
Snowden: No pulse! Charging!
[Defibrillator charging]
Snowden: Ready! One, two, three, clear!
[electric discharge]
Snowden: No pulse! Charging!
[Defibrillator charging]
Snowden: Ready! One, two, three, clear!
[electric discharge]
Snowden: No pulse! Charging!
[Defibrillator charging]
Snowden: Ready! One, two, three, clear!
[electric discharge]
Francis: *gasps*
Snowden successfully brings Francis back to life.
Francis: Woah! Was I dead?
Snowden: Yeah, but only for a few minutes. I'm sorry I let this happen.
Francis: It's okay, Snowden. You brought me back, didn't you?
Zoey: Oh, Francis! *hugs Francis*
Louis: *hugs Francis* Don't you ever do that to us again!
Snowden: *exhales* We... did it. Barely.
We're safe... for now.
