THAWNE
The attack had occurred rather quickly, just as he had planned. Thawne, along with Bucky, had lured tens of runners to the location of the S.H.I.E.L.D. base by the cliff. He had counted over eighty runners, all of whom could easily match his and Barry's speed, like Bucky. Most of the time, such a thing would've fascinated Thawne. An army of zombie speedsters with speed and lightning similar to his own, causing death and destruction. Bucky, a powerful but mind-controlled speedster at his will. His entire plan was beginning to fall into place. All for him to achieve his goal of destroying Barry Allen. Whether it was as Barry. Or as The Flash. But for whatever reason there may have been, he didn't feel the way he anticipated to feel. No pride in his master plan coming together, no pride in hunting Barry down, scouring the area for him. Several and countless S.H.I.E.L.D. agents came after him and Thawne slaughtered them, ended them. Neck after neck snapped. Heart after heart phased. And Barry still wasn't here. But he had to be. He would be. His plan was only falling into action but soon enough, it would work. Just as he wanted it to - no, as he needed it to. For the sake of whatever self-control and level of sanity he had left inside him. He would break Barry once again and feel the sugary, sweet taste of victory within him.
The runners scoured over the mountainside, the cliff, and stormed into the base. Bucky sped over to Thawne, white lightning trailing him as he did so.
"He's not here," Bucky reported.
"He will be," Thawne nodded. "He's too stupid not to."
"Yeah, you're right," Thawne and Bucky turned their heads as they recognized the man in front of them. "Cause letting you go unchecked is a horrible idea."
Thawne grinned menacingly. "Barry Allen. No suit, huh? That's a bit of a first. How's it feel? To have your speed, your power, and…not even be the Flash? No more suit, no more team Flash, no going home. How's it feel, Allen?"
Thawne could both see and feel the look of rage on Barry's face, the young speedster's fist clenching. The emotional conflict wasn't hidden very deeply within Barry. Not being the Flash, not being able to wear the mask. It was taking its toll on him, infecting him like a virus. Barry was fighting it within himself as much as he could.
"What do you want this time, Thawne?" Barry growled.
Thawne pointed at him as he and Bucky walked in a circular direction across from Barry. "What I want…is the same thing I've always wanted for years, what my rightful legacy is: to destroy you."
Barry scoffed. "You've been saying that for years yet when have you ever actually managed to do it? All this time, all these empty threats of destroying me, coming back to haunt me, making me suffer. You've created plan after plan, you've fought me battle after battle, timeline after timeline. You know what all these have in common? You failed. That…is your real legacy, Thawne. Failure after failure and in all your efforts to stop me, I'm still here, I'm still standing."
Thawne chuckled. "You're forgetting one tiny, little detail, Allen…you don't have your team anymore. No one to help you, no one to teach you, no one to turn to you. Look at you, poor Barry Allen, all alone, just like always.
"I'd love to stay and chat but that's not part of the agenda. Right now, you've got two choices, Barry. You can stop Bucky and help out your new friends. Or you can hunt me down and we can end this: you and me. Choose."
Thawne caught a glimpse of Bucky's white lightning as the rogue, mind-controlled winter soldier broke into the base with several runners. In a single picosecond, Thawne rushed at Barry with his speed, crossing the twenty five feet of distance between them in that single amount of time. Barry managed to react as he ducked under Thawne's punch and maneuvered himself away from Thawne. Thawne angrily growled as he aimlessly swung his fist at Barry, who caught it by the wrist before kneeing him in the stomach twice. The next thing Thawne knew, he took two punches to his jaw as he metallic taste overtook his mouth, blood pouring from it when Barry picked him up and tossed him. Thawne crashed to the ground as he landed near the edge of the cliff. Barry was different now. Stronger and more skilled. He charged at Thawne, who at the last possible fraction of a second dodged Barry's punch, which managed to destabilize the entire edge of the cliff. The rock broke down as Barry and Thawne were in free fall.
They tackled each other, trading hits as they fell over three hundred feet before crashing onto the grassy fields. Thawne got onto his feet as he huffed, shaking off the pain from the fall while Barry did the same. It was working. His plan. Just as he needed it to. Thawne ran off at his full speed as Barry chased after him, a hair greater than an arm's length away from him. In a single attosecond, the two of them had circled the Earth four times as their race ensued. The both of them traded punches with the same speed they ran with, trials of red and orange lightning spiraling around them. Barry eventually lunged at Thawne as he tackled him, the both of them slowing their speeds down to human level as they fell off an ice glacier in the Northern Arctic. Barry blocked two of Thawne's punches as he kicked him square in his chest pushing himself away as the two crashed into the arctic waters. It took a couple moments before the both of them swam out and sprawled themselves on the ice. Wet and drenched. The cold temperatures and breeze had a slight shivering effect on Thawne, one that he ignored. He could see Barry doing the same. The two rose to their feet as they glared at each other, Thawne's cowl was shredded as he forcefully ripped it off, tossing it as it sank into the cold, arctic waters. Barry glanced at the direction the cowl was thrown before looking back up at Thawne.
Thawne raised his arms. "See that's the difference between you and me, Barry. I don't need my mask to be what I am. Mask or no mask, suit or no suit, I am the Reverse Flash. The reverse of everything you are and everything you ever stood for. But you?" Thawne chuckled. "You don't even know what you are without the suit. Without your little "Team Flash". Do you? It's almost funny. Here I stand, vowing and trying to be the reverse of everything you ever were. Yet I know you better than you even know yourself."
As Thawne said the words, white, snowy winds came as they took over the entirety of the arctic. The winds were relatively soft but the breeze was cold with the countless, spread-out snowflakes that came. Thawne could see Barry through the winds as the two stood still, acting unfazed and unbothered by the winds that came. Barry stared at Thawne with an empty but strong look of rage as he started walking towards him. Thawne generated red lightning as he tapped into the negative speed force, feeling his rage and hatred. He threw a bolt of lightning towards Barry as it crossed the ten foot distance between them within a period of time that could only be defined as a zeptosecond. Barry tilted his body as he reacted to and dodged the bolt of lightning before standing back up and walking towards Thawne. He didn't even bother running, just simply walking. Thawne vibrated both of his hands as red lightning was generated all over his body. A thunderclap ensued as a circular expanding wave of red lightning came, moving at the same speed as Thawne's lightning bolt. The lightning hit Barry but he stood his ground, only being moved back by two feet, visibly unfazed for the most part. He stood tall as he walked towards Thawne again. This time, before Thawne could have even thought of what to do, Barry rushed him with all his speed as he tackled him to the ground. He kneeled on top of Thawne before the punches came. One. Two. Three. Four and on and on again. Punch after punch. Barry aimlessly and ragefully struck whatever part of Thawne he could. His chest. His neck. His face. For the most part, it was the face. Thawne could feel the hatred and emotional conflict it caused Barry. To see his greatest enemy wear the face of an idol he had practically worshiped. Thawne's face went numb with blood and bruising as his vision started to blur. Eventually, the numb feeling of a fist on his face ceased as he could somewhat see Barry holding his fist in the air. Thawne resisted a chuckle as his bruises ached in pain.
"Come on, Barry…" Thawne whispered in a taunt. "Do it…you know you want to, it's so simple, it's easy. Just as easy as it was to shove that knife in your mother's heart-" Thawne could now hear Barry's hand phasing as orange lightning coursed through it. "Yes…that's more like it. Now come on! Do it. Do it. Break your stupid little code. Kill me."
The lightning ceased as with his left hand; Barry grabbed Thawne by the collar.
"No." Barry growled.
That was the last thing Thawne heard before a final fist strike went to his head as he fell from the ladder of consciousness. However, as he did so, he knew he could rest easy, knowing that his fool of an enemy had fallen right into his trap.
A/N: I'm gonna try and post as much as I can because I really want to finish this first arc I'm on but I'll try not to rush it.
