Hi everyone! Happy New Year!
I apologize greatly for being gone for so long. There was a passion project I've been on for months and I finally managed to get to a good stopping point with it. So as of now, I'm back to pick up where I left off.
And if anyone didn't know, this year makes Steven Universe ten years old. Making it even more special for me and other fans to be putting in stories on this site.
Alright. No more delays! Let's go!
Episode 33: Double Trouble
September 9th 2:00 p.m. (One Year Ago)
Dichotomy. Two things that are the complete opposite of each other. One side contradicts the other; duality reflects their differences among each other. Both sides can either balance one another or exist together independently, but will always oppose each other for a reason or not.
Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. The clock ticked on the wall. Today... Today wasn't gonna be a good day. No, it was only going to get worse.
Within the principal's office at Dewey High School Kameron Evans and Zac Armstrong sat next to each other. Both boys were covered in bruises, harsh black-eyes, and several bandages placed on their cheeks. Each boy took a glance at the other with narrowed eyes before quickly turning their heads away. From behind them the door opened, making the boys turn their heads back to it.
At the door was an elderly man with short gray hair and eyes. He wore a white dress shirt with a black suit jacket alongside a striped tie, black dress pants, and black dress shoes. The elderly man slowly closed the door behind him and walked forward, walking passed the boys and toward his desk before taking a seat in his chair. Placing his elbows on the desk he intertwined his hands together while glancing at the boys in front of him.
"Now, would either of you boys please explain to me why you were fighting in my halls?" The elderly man asked softly.
Kameron turned his head to the elderly man, "Principal Owens, I was stopping Zac from harassing two girls."
"I wasn't harassing them. They were being too stubborn to listen to me and giving me a chance to explain myself to them." Zac instantly replied.
Kameron quickly turned his head to him as his eyes glared, "By grabbing their arms and hurting them?!"
"It wasn't any of your business, freak! It was between me and my girls!" Zac yelled back.
"ENOUGH!"
Both boys gasped as they turned to Principal Owens, sternly glaring at the two. Both boys turned away from each other, staring down at the carpeted floor.
"Boys. I need you both to understand that physical fights among school grounds is against the school's policies. I have also been told that you started the fight, Kameron. Is that true?" Principal Owens said firmly.
Lifting his head Kameron placed his eyes onto the principal and nodded.
"Why did you do that?" Principal Owens asked.
"This wasn't the first time I witnessed Zac harassing people, Principal Owens. I've told the teachers about it and none of them did anything. I've also told him to stop, but he would listen either, so he left me with no other choice." Kameron explained.
"Is this true, Zac?" Principal Owens asked.
"I wasn't harassing people." Zac immediately declined.
"Stop lying and tell the truth!" Kameron yelled.
"Stay out of my business, freak!" Zac yelled back.
"BOYS!" Principal Owens yelled. "THAT'S ENOUGH! It's pretty clear that there is some animosity that you both have gained among one another, but I will not have it be displayed on school grounds. Both of you will have detention once a week every Friday until the end of the month. Is that understood!?"
Both boys had their eyes shot open at their principal.
"But Principal Owens, I was going to do tryouts Fridays." Zac whined.
"You should've thought of that before you engaged in conflict." Principal Owens replied as he then turned his eyes onto Kameron, "And I also know that you've been having some inner difficulties Kameron, but you cannot use them as an excuse to act out. Now, both of you may leave and if any of you aren't in detention I'll have your time their doubled, is that understood?"
Both boys narrowed their eyes at each other and slowly looked away. "Yes, sir."
September 9th 7:00 p.m.
Detention was over...but that didn't mean the day was officially over.
Arriving back at home Kameron opened up the garage and placed his bike to the side of the wall. Taking off his helmet he placed it into his Gemstone and turned his head to the door.
Next comes the hard part. Telling the rest of the family how we screwed up - Z said.
"I'll handle it." Kameron replied as he approached the door.
Reaching his hand out he grasped onto the handle and twisted it. Opening the door he closed it from behind and walked into the living room to find his mother sitting on the couch. Turning her head she narrowed her eyes at him and silently pointed at the empty seat next to her.
Sucking in some air and exhaling it out Kameron walked over to the couch and sat down while putting his backpack on the floor.
"Care to tell me what happened today?" Christie asked coldly.
"I got into a fight." Kameron replied without much emotion.
"And you also got detention. Is that correct?" Christie said.
Her son nodded.
"Kameron. How many times do we have to tell you to not get into fights?" Christie asked as she raised her hand and pinched the bridge of her nose.
"I had to fight back." Kameron replied as he turned his eyes to her.
"No. You tell someone, honey. You don't fight back." Christie replied.
Narrowing his eyes at her Kameron stood up from the couch and grabbed his backpack. It was happening again... The same old cycle repeating itself and he wasn't gonna go through it another time.
"Excuse me mister, we're not done talking." Christie said firmly as she stood up.
"I don't have time for this, mom. I've got homework to do." Kameron replied as he walked away.
Walking around the table Kameron passed her before stopping in place. Turning his head his eyes noticed a hand on his wrist.
"Kameron, listen to me. I know things lately have been tough on you ever since Eliza-"
"SHUT UP!" Kameron yelled, ripping his arm away from his mother's. Christie gasped at her son's response as he glared at her. "Don't you dare say her name. I DON'T EVER WANT TO HEAR HER NAME AGAIN!"
"Honey, I was just-"
"NO!" Kameron yelled, cutting her off again. "Shut up mom! Stay out of my business! I screwed up. And it's my responsibility to make it right, which doesn't include you throwing it in my face as soon as I get home. My problems are my own. If I want your help with them I'll ask, so leave me alone."
Turning around Kameron reached the stairs and stomped on each step until he reached the top floor. Walking over to his bedroom door he reached out and swung the door open before slamming it shut. Throwing his backpack on his bed he walked over and sat down. His chest slowly rose up and down as he gripped onto his head.
Wow! What a performance! - Z applaud.
"Shut up."
I'm serious. You really nailed it back there. I'm also certain that you just made our mother cry. - Z said.
"I said shut up! I don't need a lecture from you." Kameron replied as he stood up and turned his attention to his corner mirror.
Just being honest, especially with how you just yelled at her after she almost mentioned our girlfriend's name and pointed out how you got into another fight. - Z said through his reflection.
"SHUT UP!" Kameron screamed as he rushed over to the mirror and lunged his foot at it. Raising his leg again he shot it out once more, aiming at the already cracked mirror. Again and again, and again, and again he kicked the mirror until all of the glass completely shattered.
Lowering his leg he closed his eyes as heavy breaths exited his mouth. Turning his body he sat down on his bed, placing both of his hands on his face.
"Dammit." He whispered.
September 5th 6:00 a.m. (Present Time)
Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep!
Groans exited his mouth as he turned his body over. His eyes twitched as they slowly opened up to see his phone going off. Reaching his hand out he pressed the 'SNOOZE' button, making it stop beeping.
Retracting his arm he slowly raised himself up from his bed and yawned. Pulling the blanket away he placed his feet on the carpet and raised himself up from his bed.
"Time for another year of survival." He said to himself as he stretched his arms out.
Ditto. Let's see what the universe has in store for us, Kameron. - Z replied.
Getting dressed and placing his backpack on Kameron exited out of his room and headed downstairs. Walking into the kitchen he placed his backpack down and reached into the cabinets for a bowl and cereal. Reaching his hand out he grabbed onto the fridge handle and opened it up to grab the milk. Pouring it into his bowl he placed it back in the fridge and made his way to the table.
As he was diving into his breakfast the sound of footsteps entered his ears. Turning his head he took notice of his sisters Lepidolite, Charoite, and Amber coming down alongside his brother Citrine.
"Kameron! Good morning." Lepidolite said as she walked over and kissed her brother's cheek.
"Morning sis." Kameron replied as he then looked at the others. "Morning everyone."
"Good morning little brother." Charoite said as she walked over to Kameron's other side and kissed his cheek. "Oh, look at you. You're growing up so fast."
"Totes. Our little brother is now a Junior. You and your friends only have one more year left until you graduate." Lepidolite added as she pulled Kameron's head into her chest.
"Lep, I'm eating breakfast." Kameron moaned as she let go of him.
"So... How does it feel being a Junior?" Citrine asked as he sat down next to his brother.
"I don't really feel all that different yet. But I'm sure it'll hit me as soon as I get to school." Kameron replied as he continued eating his breakfast.
"Jus' promise us ya'll keep yer fight count low, okay?" Amber said as she came up to him. "Ah saw the video of ya duking it out with Armstrong."
Swallowing his breakfast Kameron turned his eyes onto Amber. It was only a matter of time before that topic was gonna get brought up. "I'll try not to get into too many fights, but I'm not gonna make any promises if Zac starts something again."
"Hun, that doesn't solve the issue." Amber said.
"I know it doesn't Amber. But I've tried every other way before and it only worked for a short time until he acts up again." Kameron replied as he stood up. "Look, I know you all are look out for me and I appreciate it, but I'll handle this, okay."
Taking his bowl he walked over to the sink and began washing it. With the bowl clean and his spoon clean Kameron walked back to the table to get his backpack.
"Can ah at least take you and Steven ta school?" Amber asked. "Ah know you've got a bike, but ah got time."
Hmm... Sure, the school wasn't that far and he usually takes his bike. But...things were different now since this was Steven's first day, so...I guess just this once wouldn't hurt.
"Sure." Kameron shrugged.
September 5th 7:40 a.m.
Arriving at the front entrance of Dewey High School Kameron and Steven got out of Amber's car and onto the sidewalk. Looking over at Steven, Kameron couldn't help but smirk at his excited expression. Plus he got himself some new threads. He wore a black shirt with a large yellow star at it's center and a large white dove within it, light blue jeans, a pink hoodie jacket, pink sneakers, and a cheeseburger backpack.
"This is it, Kameron. I'm officially a freshman!" Steven cheered as he raised his arms up.
"Congratulations." Kameron replied before looking back at his sister. "Thanks for the ride."
"Have a good day you two." Amber replied as she drove off.
Reaching up to the front entrance Kameron opened the door for Steven, letting him in first before coming in behind him.
Steven gasped at the sight of the main halls. To Freshman, the main halls was like entering a whole new world. A brand new scenery to witness with their own eyes and experience the great unknown that can take place within them.
"Wow... I can't believe I'm actually here." Steven said in awe as he walked. "This is the beginning of my high school life. And I so can't wait to see how it goes."
"Just remember what we talk about little brother. High school isn't like what happens on TV, movies, or in musicals. It's rough, complicated, and sometimes the only thing you can do is survive." Kameron replied.
"I know. But at least you're here with me, right?" Steven said as they turned a corner.
"Of course I will. But listen, I'm not always gonna be around to watch your back or help you in a jam. You see something wrong, tell a teacher. Got it?" Kameron replied.
Steven's lips frowned at his brother's response. They talked about this, and yeah Kameron can't always watch over him, but having this kind of independence right now was a bit too sudden for him. It was just like entering middle school all over again, only this time things were definitely gonna be a lot different than Dewey Middle.
"I got it." Steven said.
Reaching out his hand Kameron patted Steven's shoulder with a small smirk. "Okay, I've gotta get to my locker. Go find yours and head straight to homeroom before the bell rings. And if anything Gem-related pops up on your phone let me handle it. It's your first day, so enjoy it."
Steven nodded as Kameron left his side. Putting a hand into his hoodie pocket he pulled out a piece of paper and unfolded it. On the paper was a schedule sheet of the classes he'll be apart of and on the back was a map of the school grounds alongside his locker number and combination key.
Taking another turn at an upcoming corner Steven turned his head to the right and found his locker. Entering the combination he opened up the locker to see nothing inside of it. Taking off his cheeseburger backpack he unzipped the first zipper and placed the notebooks he didn't need into the locker. Once done he closed it he picked up his backpack and made his way to Homeroom.
September 5th 10:00 a.m.
P.E. Class. If sitting in a desk all day wasn't good enough for ya, then look no further then the one class that you'll either hate or enjoy. That all depends on who your coach is, what he/she will have you do, and if he/she will show mercy on you. To answer that...you're gonna have to go to another school.
"Alright children. It's great to see you again. Another year to see what you all are capable of and to get yourselves into shape. You're no longer the wimps I've met during your Freshman years, nor the rookies making minimum effort as Sophomores. You are now officially Juniors, which means it's time to step it up. I wanna see you all do your very best with the plans I've got in store for you all. Understand?" The coach said.
"Yes, coach." The students replied.
"Good. Now, since it's your first day back all of us are gonna play an old favorite of mine and one I'm sure you all are aware of." The coach said as she walked toward the center of the gym and picked up a red ball. Lifting it close to her face she took a good sniff of the ball and sighed. "Aw, dodge-ball. A classic. Rough, harsh, yet very effective. The class will be split in half. Seven on one side and seven on the other. Let's go." She added as she raised her whistle and blew into it.
On cue the students took their places at the center of the gym. On one side was Kameron Evans. Lars Barriga. Sadie Miller. Angela Park. Chelsea Park. Scarlet Jane. Ronaldo Fryman. On the other side was Zac Armstrong. Kevin Samson. And their squad.
"Look at what we got here. A bunch of sheep ready to be eaten by wolves." Zac said while cracking his knuckles.
"These sheep aren't afraid of you, Armstrong." Kameron replied.
Zac huffed as his group stepped up and picked up their balls.
"We're so gonna get creamed." Ronaldo said as he slowly raised his arms up.
"Not without a fight, Fryman." Chelsea replied as she readied herself.
Then...the whistle went off.
Turning their heads Zac and his group quickly threw their balls at Ronaldo. The balls were coming for him. His whole body shook with small breaths leaving his mouth. His legs didn't even attempt to move with his breaths rapidly increasing with each second passing by. Closing in on him the only thing he could do was shut his eyes tight and let it happen. 'Hello another year of suffering.' He thought to himself.
One after the other each ball pummeled him. The sheer force upon impact sent ripples through his body, pushing him off of his feet and landing hard on the ground. The others merely looked at him with shocked expressions as groans exited out of Ronaldo's mouth. Turning their eyes on their enemies Zac and his group began laughing up a storm upon their brutality.
"Hope you liked our delivery Lamedo." Zac said as he continued laughing.
Jogging up to Ronaldo Kameron kneeled down and lifted his friend's head. Slowly opened his eyes the sight of Kameron in front of him made his lips stretch into a smile. "You...you always watched out for me. I've always supported what your family did. They've protected our planet...and they're good people..."
Kameron chuckled a little as he helped Ronaldo up with the coach coming up to help him get to the bleachers. Turning his eyes to the balls near him Kameron picked one up and threw it at Lars. His friend caught it without any trouble as Kameron then passed the remaining balls to the girls before picking up his own. Walking back to his friends they each glared at their targets.
"Ah look, the sheep wanna try to avenge their fallen comrade." Kevin said as he touched his hair.
No-one on the other side gave him a response. Instead they each pulled their arms back and threw their balls at them. Coming toward them Zac and his group dodged the assault and quickly grabbed the balls before throwing them back.
Kameron bent his body forward, flipping himself off the ground and catching the ball just as his feet hit the floor. Lars immediately crouched himself down, having the ball merely scrap across his hair before he grabbed onto it. Sadie sucked in some air and turned her body to the side, flipping herself upside down and pushing herself right-side up, dodging the ball while quickly catching it in her hands. The Park sisters jumped to the side, twirling their bodies in the process as two balls passed them until they managed to catch them and throw them right back, hitting two targets. Scarlett watched as a ball was coming right for her. Upon reaching her in close range she bent her body back, reaching the floor with her hands and flipping herself back. With her hands she pushed herself back up and caught the ball before throwing it back, hitting her target.
Four remained. Zac, Kevin, and the last target froze in place, unable to respond to the display that just happened. Taking the opportunity Kameron and Lars stood side by side and ran. Leaping into the air Kameron spun his body before throwing his ball right at Kevin's face. Lars stopped in place, twisting his body around and throwing his ball right at Zac's head, knocking him to the floor.
Only two remained. Sadie looked over to Scarlett. Both girls nodded at one another and ran at their targets. Jumping into the air Sadie turned her head to Scarlett who locked her hand into her own before she got spun around until she launched her ball forward. Coming in hot the hit the first target on the side and ricocheted off of him into the last target's stomach, pushing her to the floor.
*whistle sound*
"That's game!" The coach announced. "Alright, alright, that's what I'm talking about! Definitely a step up from last year. Never seen a game so intense like that." She added as she clapped.
The other group groaned as they picked themselves up while looking at their opponents.
"W-What the hell was that?" Kevin asked.
"That was for Ronaldo." Sadie answered. "Everything else was from preparation."
"Preparation?" Zac asked while rubbing his forehead.
"I suspected we would play dodgeball when we got back to school." Kameron replied. "Wasn't sure when, so I suggested to my friends that we should prepare just in case in happened."
"And it was so worth it." Chelsea added with a hand on her hip.
Zac and co growled at them as they walked over to check on Ronaldo. What kind of preparation was that? Their movements, their reaction times. No way they did all that just for dodgeball.
"You okay, Ronaldo?" Scarlett asked.
"I'll live... Especially after witnessing such an amazing dodgeball match!" Ronaldo replied with joy. "You've gotta tell how you did that!"
"It's not as easy as it looks." Angela replied. "Kameron insisted we try various techniques just in case of a plethora of scenarios. I'm glad I didn't have to do a backflip."
"The payoff was way better than I thought it'd be." Lars added.
"Alright kids, hit the showers. Next class is coming up in thirty minutes. *whistle sound* Dismissed." The coach announced.
September 5th 11:45 a.m.
*bell ringing*
"Okay class, that is all for today. Be sure that we will continue our discussion about the assignment tomorrow and I know it sucks to have homework on your first day back, but that's apart of growing up. Do your best, but keep in mind that I'll ask about what we've done today tomorrow." Said the teacher.
Grabbing his backpack Kameron swung it over his shoulder and made his way out the door. Going into the halls he made his way to his locker and opened it up.
Ugh. I'm so glad that's over. Third Period is so boring. - Z groaned.
'Tell me about it. Algebra ain't no walk in the park, but helps to exercise the brain.' Kameron replied in thought. 'Hopefully Steven's day is going well.'
You worry too much. Our little brother is gonna be fine. The kind of person he is, I bet he's already made some friends. - Z assured.
Kameron smirked as he placed some notebooks in his backpack. That was so true. Though he was certain it was a bit harder for him since Connie wasn't here.
Closing his locker door a collection of vibrations surged through Kameron's pocket. Reaching his hand into it he pulled out his phone and saw a Gem Symbol blinking on his app. Tapping on it his eyes immediately widened.
No way... Why there...? - Z said in disbelief.
Glaring at his phone Kameron closed out the app and opened up his group chat.
[Kameron]: Gotta go take care of a Gem-problem. Be back soon.
[Lars]: Got it.
[Sadie]: Okay. Be careful.
[Angela]: We'll keep an eye out for Steven.
[Chelsea]: Kick some ass, badass.
[Scarlet]: Please be careful. Come back as soon as you can.
[Kameron]: :)
Putting his phone back in his pocket Kameron raised out his right arm as his Gemstone began to glow. Summoning out his Warp Whistle he placed it near his lips and blew into it, warping away from school.
September 5th 12:00 p.m.
Tierra De Lobos, Mexico.
Why... Out of every location around the planet where a Gem-related problem could occur, why did it have to be this place?
Arriving at his destination Kameron removed the whistle from his mouth and placed it back into his Gemstone. A small gust of wind blew through his body as he slowly looked at his surroundings. All around him in a clear-blue sky were multiple houses made of brick and stone. The ground itself was sand and rock with small snakes and scorpions swiftly moving around. Though it was September it was warm and calm.
The people outside of the houses locked their eyes onto Kameron. Some looked at him with concern. Some gazed at him with hard glares. Others looked at him with confusion or shaken eyes. All eyes were on him. Just like before...
"Bastardo!"
Turning his head Kameron watched a familiar face coming up to him. A tanned-skinned young man with bushy brown hair and eyes, and a thin mustache with a thin beard. He wore an opened red collared shirt, showing his muscular chest, black jeans with a black belt, black shows, and black fingerless gloves. The glare and angered expression on his face rivaled Pyrope's. Just a mere glance at it would make you think twice about approaching him.
Coming up to Kameron the young man pulled his right arm back and threw it right at his face. The sheer force and power from that punch impacted Kameron's cheek and jaw, sending him straight into the ground harshly. The young man approached him and grabbed his shirt before pulling his left arm back and sending it straight into Kameron's right cheek. Over, and over, and over the young man continued send his fist into Kameron's face as the bystanders watched.
Lowering his left arm the young man stood up from the ground with heavy breath leaving his mouth. Still gripping on Kameron's shirt he pulled him up and placed him back on his feet. "Era para mi hermana!"
"Se." Kameron replied in Spanish. "Me lo merecia. Y mucho mas."
The young man then sucked in some air and slowly exhaled it out of his nose. He then released his grip from Kameron's shirt, "Te mataria aqui y ahora por volver a mi casa. Sin embargo... mi hermana me odiara desde el cielo por ello."
Kameron nodded. "Has visto algun corrupto cerca de aqui?"
"Sin Corruptos. Vi una Gema con dos cabezas cercas del canon." The young man replied, pointing behind himself.
"Gracias Miguel." Kameron said with a nod.
"Solo ve y manejalo." Miguel replied as he adverted his eyes away.
Without responding Kameron sprinted passed him. Miguel... Back then him and Kameron were "okay" with one another, but after what happened...that passionate burning hatred in his heart erupted and aimed itself at him. No blame there. Kameron deserved every amount of his wrath and even more if things went far, but...but his sister wouldn't approve of her brother's actions.
Pulling out his Warp Whistle once more Kameron quickly blew into it and vanished from the village.
Rattlesnake Canyon.
One of the most dangerous canyons in the world, and for good reason thanks to the name. Numerous rattlesnakes slither nearly everywhere here. It's nearly impossible for anyone to traverse through here or even take a tour unless you had a Snake Charmer.
Arriving at the location Kameron's ears were immediately hit with rattle sounds. Putting his Warp Whistle away he started walking into the canyon.
A Gem with two heads? Is that who we think it might be? - Z asked.
"Possibility." Kameron answered. "But we didn't receive any more messages from the Wailing Stone, so this might be something else." He added as he slowly began to sprint.
Up ahead Kameron sprinted quickly as his reached the edge of the trail. Bending his body forward he shot himself straight into the air and landed right on the other side. Continuing to sprint he turned a corner and shot himself into the air again. His body began to drop closer and closer to the ground right until he landed back onto the rocky trail.
From his surroundings there wasn't anything out of the ordinary happening as he walked. Straight ahead Kameron soon stopped in his tracks. There was a massive rock wall, but laying on the ground near it were two wolves. Quickly approaching them Kameron placed both of his hands on their bodies and gently moved them. No response. He tried again and received the same response. Raising himself up he released a scream of agony when a sudden burst of energy surged through his body.
"We have found you at last." A high-pitched female voice said.
"That didn't take too long." A low-pitched female voice added.
Kneeling on the ground heavy breath exited Kameron's mouth as he turned his head. His eyes shot open while releasing a light gasp. Right behind him was a familiar Gem and the one Miguel said was here. Only...their color scheme was all wrong. They were originally red and black, but now...now they were white and black with mechanical gauntlets on each arm with pointed shoulder guards and metal collars around their necks.
"R...Rutile?" Kameron struggled to say as he lifted himself up.
The twins' eyes widened at him. "You know of us?" Low-pitched Rutile said.
"Of course. But...what happened to the both of you?" Kameron replied.
"We've been sent here to find you." High-pitched Rutile replied.
"You, the Crystal Gems, and the Rainbow Gems." Low-pitched Rutile added as they raised their arms up.
They slowly walked up to Kameron with red electricity discharging out of their gauntlets. "The Diamonds gave us clarity. You all are the problem." Low-pitched Rutile said. "But after we're done with you, we'll seek out your father and the others." High-pitched Rutile added.
Approaching Kameron the twins raised their arms out, firing off large blasts of red electricity. With their blasts coming right at him Kameron quickly bent his body forward and pushed himself back toward the large wall behind him. Crystallizing his hands he attached himself to the rock solid wall.
"What the hell are you two doing!?" He yelled.
"What does it look like, abomination?" High-pitched Rutile replied.
"Surely you should know the moment you looked at us." Low-pitched Rutile added.
Kameron's eyes narrowed at them. "Abomination?" Their appearance, their weapons, their newfound objective to attack him and the others were all clear hints as to what was happening as of now. Pushing himself from the wall he spun himself forward toward the twins. Getting in close he stretched his legs out, impacting the twins' chests and pushing them back.
Both twins grunted from the attack before Kameron leaped off of them and landed back on the ground. Narrowing their eyes the twins glared at him as red electricity pulsed around their gauntlets. From their fingertips the electricity shot out of them and took the form of blades. Raising his arms out Kameron started to crystallize them until the points ended at his knees.
Kameron and the twins locked their eyes onto one another. They each raised their legs up and moved them forward, but...the moment their feet touched the ground they each sprinted ahead. Coming in close the twins raised their arms up and slammed them down at quick speed. Pulling his arms up they soon connected with the twins'.
"Surrender." Low-pitched Rutile said.
"You cannot defeat us." High-pitched Rutile added.
Small grunts exited Kameron's mouth as the twins continued to push him back. "Y-Yeah, I don't think so. Y-You're gonna have to do better than this." Kameron replied as he slowly pushed himself forward.
The twins glared at him. Soon after they quickly moved their arms away, making Kameron do the same and in a split second they raised their leg up, aiming it right at his stomach. Spit left Kameron's mouth right while he was pushed back, hitting his back against the rock wall. Lifting his head the twins were coming right at him. Retracting their blades they pulled their arm back and sent it right at Kameron's face.
With both hands they grabbed onto his shoulders with red electricity pulsing out. With no more time wasting the twins releasing large portion of it right at their target.
"GGGGAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!"
Tightening their grip the twins watched as Kameron wailed into the air. The electricity crackled through every inch of him. From above and below. From his head to his feet, the surged continue on as his wails grew louder by the second. Soon...the twins lightened their grip on him, halting their electricity. His legs began to shake and fall onto the ground. His eyes...were slowly turning dull while his crystal blades went back into his body.
"Surrendering was the better option for you." Low-pitched Rutile said as they released their hands from him.
"If you had listened to us then you would've been spared from this type of pain." High-pitched Rutile added.
Raising their arms out the twins reformed their electric blades. "Time to end this." they both said in unison.
Pulling their arms back they thrusted them forward. Just as they were about to make contact with Kameron's chest he rapidly raised his arms up, grabbing the blades.
Gasps left the twins' mouths. How? An organic nor an abomination such as himself can't merely touch electricity without receiving any kind of shock.
"Who said you two gets to decide when we're done?" Z said.
"W-What?" Low-pitched Rutile replied in confusion.
"As much as Kameron would like to go out on his own terms, it's my turn to have some fun for a while." Z said as he lifted his head.
The twins watched as Kameron's skin changed to green. Lifting his head his crystal blue eye now matched his cyan one. His lips slowly stretched into a large grin as he gripped onto the twins' blades. Their electricity started going into his veins, spreading all around his body as the blades began to shrink. Pushing them away Z lifted his leg, swinging it right at the left twin. Grunts left her mouth, but before her other twin could react Z placed both of his hands on their chests.
"Bang!" Z announced.
A large burst of energy erupted from his hands, blasting the twins back. Screams were released from their mouths just until the energy began to deplete and they themselves crashed into a wall from behind. Falling on their butt the twins groaned with their backs against. That kind of power...was familiar.
Gripping his hands Z began to walk up to the twins. "I'm disappointed the fight had to end this quickly, but then again, it could've been stale if we dragged it out for too long."
Groans leaving their mouths the twins raised their heads up to him. "This isn't over..." High-pitched Rutile replied. "We can still fight..." Low-pitched Rutile added.
"Yeah, don't even try that." Z said as he raise his left arm out. "This fight is done and gone."
From his arm a long crystal shard came out of his hand and split itself in two. In rapid speed both shards pierced themselves right at the twins' collars. Pulling them out the collars began to deactivate, reverting the twins back to their original color.
They both blinked at Z as he retracted his shards. Taking a step forward he raised both of his arms out to them. The twins turned their heads to each other and back to him before raising their arms to him.
Just as they were about to make contact the collars gave out a small "beeping" sound.
Gasps left the twins' mouth as they looked at their collars before quickly looking back at Z. "Oh no." They whispered in unison.
"What's going on?" Z asked.
"We don't have anymore time left." Low-pitched Rutile said in panic.
"Our time has run out." High-pitched Rutile added.
"What does that mean? What's gonna happen?" Z asked.
Looking at Z the twins lightly smiled at him while grabbing onto his hands. "The others will be coming too." Low-pitched Rutile said softly. "They will not be themselves like we were." High-pitched Rutile added. Their bodies began to glow light red. "Please tell Green Diamond...we're sorry." Low-pitched Rutile said with water forming in her eyes. "Please tell him..." High-pitched Rutile added with water forming in her eyes.
Z's eyes slowly widened. Tears flowed down their faces as they continued smiling. His eyes descended onto their Gem. Cracks began to form on it and were slowly getting bigger by the second. Raising his head to the twins his eyes started to dilate. He opened his mouth to say something...anything...but the twins shook their heads to him. Their red glow slowly engulfed their body in light and fragmented into pieces before fading away. Their Gemstone fell to the ground, and upon contact...broke into multiple pieces.
Z looked down to see their broken Gemstone, their gauntlets, and their broken collars. His hands released themselves from the gauntlets, letting them hit the ground. His lips quivered as his eyes dilated even more.
Picking himself up from the ground Z picked up the gauntlets, the broken Gemstone, and the damaged gauntlets and placed them into his Gemstone.
Closing his eyes he sucked in some air into his nose and exhaled it out of his mouth. Reopening his eyes he lifted his hand to his goggles and lowered them onto his eyes. "We need to get back to school, Kameron."
"Yeah..." Kameron replied with no emotion.
Letting Kameron take control again he summoned out both his backpack and Warp Whistle before leaving the area.
End of Episode 33.
Apologizes again for the hiatus. But now I'm back to pick up where I left off.
This is just the start. More battles will come, but at what price will we pay once victory is established?
On a side note: I have God Of War: Ragnarok and completed it. I won't spoil too much for those who haven't played it yet, but what I will say is that the creators did a beautiful job humanizing the characters and showing two sides of conflict. Hands downs, the best conclusion for the Norse Saga.
See you all later.
