A/N The Thanksgiving Autumn request. The grandparents are her mother's parents because of her British dad.
It was the cold autumn season in November, and everyone was getting ready for Thanksgiving. They bought Thanksgiving food - to make dinner, and some bought suitcases, so they could go visit their friends and family to celebrate Thanksgiving. The next day, it was the last school day, so Autumn, Sawyer, and the kids celebrated Thanksgiving with a party, they ate cupcakes, carrot cake, and drank fruit juice, and also watched Thanksgiving cartoon movie about the mouse and the people traveled with the Mayflower ship to find a new home and then made friends with the friendly Indians (Rankin Bass Mouse on the Mayflower cartoon movie). After school was over, the children went home to celebrate Thanksgiving with their families.
When Autumn and Sawyer arrived at Sawyer's house where she lives, Autumn and Sawyer got off and thanked the bus driver and wished him a Happy Thanksgiving and the bus driver said the same thing and drove away with the kids on the bus. Meanwhile Autumn and Sawyer were playing jumping on the pile of leaves then Sawyer's mother told the girls come inside to have a snack. The girls washed their hands and ate apples with dip, peanut butter and cheese with crackers, and drank grape juice. After twenty minutes, Autumn's mother came and picked her up. Autumn thanked Sawyer and her mother wished them a Happy Thanksgiving and Sawyer said the same thing and they drove away after saying goodbye.
Four days later, it was Thanksgiving Day, but today was not a good day. It was snowy outside. It was snowing all night when everyone went to bed. But the problem was the train stations and airplane flights had been canceled due to the snowstorm, and some of the roads were blocked with big piles of snow too. Back home, Autumn was playing with her dolls and Thomas toys while her parents were making Thanksgiving dinner. Then the phone rang, and Autumn's mother picked it up, it was her parents, so Autumn's grandparents, and they told them the bad news that they were not going to make it because the snow blocked the driveway. After the phone call was over, Autumn's mother told her husband the bad news, and Autumn's parents told their daughter the bad news. Autumn didn't say a word, so she ran upstairs and shut the door with the loud slam. Now Autumn's parents are now feeling sorry for Autumn. Autumn was in her bedroom feeling disappointed, she did not cry, she did not get mad, but she was very disappointed. There's nothing to do, Autumn thought and decided to go see her friend Thomas.
When she arrived at Sodor, it was snowy at Sodor too. And she saw the children building snow people, snow engines, and some were sledding down the hill. Then she saw Thomas with Annie and Clarabel, Autumn so came by to say hello.
Autumn said, "Hi Thomas."
Thomas said, "Hi Autumn."
Autumn explained to Thomas about celebrating Thanksgiving and feeling upset that her grandparents couldn't make it cause the snow.
Thomas said, "Don't feel sad, Autumn. It wasn't their fault; it was the snowstorm's fault. And there's always next year."
Autumn said, "I hope so. If there's lighter snow, then it won't ruin everyone's Happy Thanksgiving."
Just then Sir Topham Hatt's grandchildren, Stephen and Bridget came by.
Bridget said, "Hi Autumn."
Autumn said, "Hi Bridget, hello Stephen."
Stephen said, "You want to help us build a snow engine?"
Autumn said, "Oh yes please. Show me how.". She had made snowmen, snow angels and even a snow tunnel, but that's all, so she wanted to make a snow Thomas.
Stephen and Briget said, "Come on."
So Autumn and Sir Topham Hatt's grandchildren went up the hill to build a snow engine.
Thomas could see Autumn was feeling better now.
Autumn, Stephen, and Bridget worked together to build a snow engine, and some other kids helped too. After it was done, the snow engine looked like Thomas, and the children clapped and cheered. Autumn waved at Thomas, and Thomas tooted his whistle.
Autumn made her rounds and found Nia, looking low, so she asked her "What's wrong, Nia?" and hugged her.
"I'm dreadfully homesick, missing Kwaku, my old friend from my old railway in Kenya," Nia said as she began to cry, sobbing loudly and sniffling. Except for Autumn, the little orange tank engine was alone, her crew on break.
Autumn, hearing Nia's heartfelt sobs, broke the hug to pull out her hanky and dry her friend's tears. "There, there, Nia," she said. "Let me wipe your eyeballs." She listened attentively, doing her best to be present for her friend and imagined how bad Nia felt, as she gently rubbed her friend's sodden cheeks and wiped her tear-filled eyes.
Nia said, every word another heartfelt sob, "I-I c-came h-here b-because I-I h-had l-lost m-my sh-shed. Th-Thomas f-found m-me o-on h-his w-world t-tour a-and t-told S-Sir T-Topham H-Hatt a-about m-me a-and h-he b-bought m-me. I-I l-like S-Sodor, b-but I-I j-just m-miss m-my o-old fr-friend s-so m-much.". She sniffled again, hard, coughed as she choked on her tears and hiccupped. She gasped and gulped, shaking with sobs, huge tears constantly pouring from her eyes as Autumn comforted her.
She said, as she continued to wipe the tears away, "Let it all out. I'm here to wipe your pain away, so just let your eyes be rainclouds. Your feelings are valid, given your experience, so I'm not here to put a positive spin on things or rush your healing. I'm not scared of emotion, because I feel so very deeply. I'm usually happy enough, but I have moments I tear up or even get overwhelmed with emotion and need to wipe my eyeballs.". She held the hanky to her friend's eyes and wiped all her tears away as best she could as she looked for context and ways to inspire her unhappy friend.
Nia sobbed and sobbed, her tears not once stopping until she had no more to cry. Autumn dried her friend's last tears away, wiping her cheeks and eyes dry of tears and gave her the inspiration she thought of. She put her sodden handkerchief away and went to find Thomas and the children again.
Since it was getting late, Thomas took the children back home. Autumn thanked Thomas for everything and said goodbye and went home.
When Autumn arrived home, she still held her Thomas toy, then she heard a knock. It was her mother. Autumn's mother can see her daughter felt much better. Her mother asked Autumn if she can put frosting on the carrot cake and Autumn said, "Yes", and went downstairs to help.
After Autumn was done helping her mother, she heard a doorbell ring, then Autumn went to go it. When she opened the door, it was Sawyer and her parents.
Autumn said, "Sawyer! Hi."
Sawyer said, "Hi Autumn."
They both shared a hug, then Autumn's parents came and saw it was Sawyer and her parents. Sawyer's parents explained to Autumn's parents that their oven broke down yesterday and the repair person wouldn't get here until the end of Thanksgiving. Now Autumn and her parents felt sorry for them, then Autumn got an idea.
Autumn said,"Mum dad, can Sawyer and her parents join us for Thanksgiving dinner, since my grandparents won't be here?"
Autumn's parents thought it was a good idea, and they said, "Yes". Autumn and Sawyer jumped for joy. It was 6:00 when Autumn and Sawyer and their parents started to have Thanksgiving dinner. They said a prayer, after they were done praying, they began to eat. After the Thanksgiving dinner was over, it was getting late.
Sawyer was sitting in a chair, her parents planning to leave after the snow stopped. Autumn's dad walked past where the girl was sitting and passed gas loudly.
"Excuse me," he said.
Sawyer said "PU, it stinks!" and began to cry. Things that happened before had taken her up to her limit and now she was wailing, having a meltdown. She pulled out her handkerchief and cried into it, blowing her nose loudly.
Autumn hugged her friend tight, as she liked deep pressure when having a meltdown and after the other girl was calmer, though drying her eyes of her last tears and blowing her stuffy nose, said, "Dad did a trump, as he calls it when he's got gas. It means fart, especially a stinky one like that, as they do use the word fart. He gets gassy when he eats a lot."
Sawyer said, "I hate meltdowns. They're always something like that, I wail so hard my nose is completely stuffed up and I got a drippy wet hankie. The stuffy nose bothers me especially."
The snowflakes stopped outside, then Sawyer and her parents thanked Autumn and her parents. They said goodbye and wished them Happy Thanksgiving and went home. While Autumn's parents helped clean up, Autumn brushed her teeth and took a bath. She watched one more episode of Thomas and Friends before she went to bed, after she was done, she read Thomas stories to herself and went to bed with her Thomas plush doll.
A/N Because of Autumn's British dad for plot convenience, I want all her fans to just let me do what I want with her, but I do plan to fulfill the old requests. She's a British-American hybrid, as her mom was born in Pennsylvania. Her home accent is Pennsylvania with British overtones, so she speaks British sometimes, like saying "mummy" when referring to her mother, as I allude to earlier. For anyone who's new, Autumn has dark brown curls and brown eyes. Autumn had her toy in her pocket for making the snow engine. Some on the spectrum don't like touch when having a meltdown, but others do, as Sawyer does, if it's deep pressure.
