Foreword
/ Shift Zero to One
Gabriella Agathon
May justice be done, through the Heavens' Fall.
How do you pick up the pieces of a series that had a lot of potential, but squandered it trying to be something else?
It's a hell of a task, and one that I still don't think I'm up to yet, but it's still one that I need to challenge and will continue to challenge, and if you're reading this, it means that to an extent, I'm ready for this to face the world.
If I'm being true to myself as of writing this foreword, I'm not really sure what I'm expecting, from myself, or from publishing this. But I want to see what it means to rewrite something, and turn it into something that perhaps surpasses the original vision of the creators, and turns it into something deserving of having felt inspired by the Greats.
Hi!
My name's Gabriella, and welcome to one of my most interesting projects to date. I'm currently an unprofessional professional writer, who's studying Computer Science and Meteorology at a university in the Rocky Mountain Range of the United States, and for those of you who know my work from my ventures into fandom spaces in things like Arknights, Project Wingman and maybe even the Witch From Mercury, this is going to be something almost entirely different than what I've traditionally done.
This initially started as a writing prompt, where I was supposed to emulate the style of my friend, author, and fellow fanfiction writer, Matthew, better known as his pen name, BlueWay or his developing name, FlyAwayNow. But now, it's turned into something more, something ambitious and something more foreign to me than I expected a throwaway of 400-or-so words to be.
This project is one of love for the work of the creators and staffers for the project. For the countless hours spent working on it, to turn it into what I believe was the best possible product given the circumstances.
I don't want to step on the toes of what the initial vision for might've been, but I think that there's a certain necessity of doing so, when undertaking the mantle of rewriting a series.
This is a project of many hours, of studying intentions, character development and messaging, trying to figure out what story was trying to be told, and telling it as it emerges to me. Hopefully this story as presented lives up to that for you, the reader.
I'd like to think that a few thanks are in order —
First and foremost, my friend and girlfriend, Eris. For essentially letting me drag her into the agonies that is watching . She has been an excellent source of conversation and discussion regarding this show and story, letting me bounce ideas off of her, and being a beta reader for me as I've gone about writing this story.
Second, being my friends in Fanon2, for being constantly there while I lost and are losing my mind in the writing channel trying to produce a work of quality. You guys keep me sane despite my insane ramblings.
Third, is you, the reader — thank you for taking time out of your life to read this rewrite and continuation as it is.
I have no schedule, no plans for publishing chapters to keep myself accountable, as I am a full time student and part-time employee. But I plan to keep this as updated as possible as I work on it, and I explore within the bounds of it.
