Carlistle's Confusion

Previously on Descendants:

"So, what did you find in Carlos's hand, Evie?" Jay asked.

"A spilled cup," Evie answered Jay. "I think Carlos might have been poisoned!"

"I didn't mean to eavedrop here, but why would someone want to poison Carlos so as to kill him?" Mal asked, she was puzzled.

"We don't know the answer yet, Mal," Evie answered. "but we're working on it."

"Our parents will not appreciate you guys spying on their meeting." Mallory said to Daniella, Carlistle, and Julian.

"Oh come on, we're the children of villain kids and the grandkids of villains or even villain side kicks, we're supposed to be wicked!" Julian said to Mallory.

"And what's more wicked than being rebelious?" Carlistle added.

"Boys." Mallory groaned irritably.

"Listen, Mal," Julian said. "like Carlistle's dad, you are the youngest member of our clique, so be on your guard!"

"Stop it, Julian," Daniella scolded sharply. "don't scare Mallory like that!"

"I'm not afraid," the Princess of Auradon protested. "let me listen too!"

"Good, we need all the eyes on this we can get." Ben said.

"I would hate to suggest this, but could somebody from the Isle be involved?" Mal asked Ben.

Evie was stunned, "Mal, do you know what you're suggesting?" she asked.

"I do, but we have to consider every possibility." Mal said to Evie gravely.

"Mal's right, if somebody has resorted to murder, we can't leave any stone unturned." Ben said.

Now on Descendants:

The four curious teens stepped back from the conference room door.

Carlistle was confused.

"Was my father really... murdered?" Carlistle asked.

"It would seem so, Carlistle." Daniella sighed.

Julian noticed Mallory had a thoughtful look on her face.

"What are you thinking, Mal?" Julian asked.

"I am just thinking," Mallory suggested. "that the four of us should play private eye and try to solve this mystery!"

The three older teens looked at the Princess of Auradon.

"Do you really think we can solve this mystery?" Julian asked Mallory.

"As sure as my name is Mallory Floriane!" Mallory answered Julian, her green eyes shining brightly.

"But we're not private eyes." Carlistle protested.

"Not even close." Daniella agreed.

"We can do this, I read a ton of detective novels." Mallory said.

"I read a lot of detective novels too," Julian agreed. "all we have to do is stay in the shadows like any good gumshoe does."

"Easy peasy lemon squeezy." Mallory said.

Daniella and Carlistle looked at one another, then, they looked at Mallory and Julian.

"I'm in, then." Carlistle said.

"Me too." Daniella agreed.

"Excellent!" the Auradon Princess exclaimed.

"We have a caper to pull!" Julian exclaimed.

Suddenly, Mallory heard the doorknob turning.

"It's our parents," Mallory exclaimed. "I know I don't want to be grounded until I'm thirty!"

The four teens raced out of that doorway as fast as their legs could carry them.

A few days later at Auradon Prep, Princess Mallory was sitting at her keyboard in the dormitory bedroom that she shared with Daniella.

When Daniella entered carrying a plate of gingersnaps.

"Come on, let's go to the tourney field to cheer Carlistle up." Daniella said to Mallory.

Mallory imspected the cookies, "Whoa! Gingersnaps?" she asked Daniella.

"Homemade gingersnaps, Carlistle's favorite." Daniella answered Mallory.

"That would cheer Carlistle up for certain!" Mallory exclaimed.

Over on the tourney field, the team was hard at practice.

When Carlistle took a tourney ball to his head and passed out.

Lonnie came over to where the boys were practicing to find Carlistle lying on the ground.

"What happened?" Lonnie asked.

"Carlistle just got hit in the head with a tourney ball, he's passed out." Julian answered his mother.

"Don't move him, get the team doctor, now!" Lonnie ordered.

"Right, Mom." Julian said.

Julian raced off to get the team doctor.

A few minutes after Julian had gone, Mallory and Daniella arrived at the tourney field.

Daniella almost dropped Carlistle's gingersnaps when she and Mallory saw Carlistle lying on the ground.

"Oh my gosh! Carlistle!" Daniella gasped.

"What happened?" Mallory asked.

"Carlistle got hit in the head with a tourney ball and passed out a few minutes ago." Justin answered Mallory.

"Where did Julian go?" Daniella asked, kneeling by Carlistle's side.

"Julian went to get the team doctor," Justin answered Daniella. "on his mother's orders."

Mallory looked at her fallen friend, "Poor Carlistle." she said.

In a short while, Julian returned with the team doctor, Thomas Stanton.

"What exactly happened?" Doctor Stanton asked.

"Carlistle took a tourney ball to the head, he passed out immediately." Julian answered Doctor Stanton.

The team doctor checked Carlistle over, "He's breathing. But we shouldn't move him, Julian, go call an ambulance." Doctor Stanton said.

"Right away, Doctor Stanton." Julian said.

Julian got his cellphone out to call an ambulance.

"I need someone to tell Carlistle's mom what's happened, Headmistress Jane would surely want to know." Doctor Stanton said.

"I'll go," Mallory volunteered. "Ella, you stay with Carlistle!"

"Right!" Daniella said to Mallory.

Mallory took off like a shot to tell Jane what happened to Carlistle.

Mallory found Jane in her office signing school documents.

"Aunt Jane! We've had an accident!" Mallory exclaimed.

Jane looked up from her mountain of paperwork, "What kind of accident?" she asked.

"Carlistle was hit in the head with a tourney ball, he's unconscious, Doctor Stanton is on the scene." Mallory answered Jane.

"Where are they now?" Jane asked Mallory.

"On the tourney field." The Auradon Princess answered.

"Let's go." Jane said.

Back on the tourney field, an ambulance arrived and Carlistle was being loaded on board.

Coming up in chapter 12: Visions:

"I know you're worried, Jane, but an ambulance had to be called." Lonnie said gently.

"First I lost my husband, Lonnie," Jane said, trying not to cry. "I don't want to lose my only son and precious baby boy too!"

Julian came out of the locker room in his casual attire.

"Carlistle is strong, Aunt Jane," Julian said kindly. "we won't lose him."

"I hope you're right, Julian, I really do." Jane sighed.
