LINK TO SECTION BELOW
We now return to Drake and Ashley with bright smiles.
"Anddddd we are back!" Drake grinned.
"Just in time because we still have ten more fighters to go through so let's not waste any more time!" Ashley brightened up.
LINK
NODE: SUPER SMASH BROS/THE LEGEND OF ZELDA
"Ooh, and just like we ended the first half with a bang, we also start the second half with a bang!" Drake grinned.
"Yes, you would think that he would be an instant lock during the post-resurgence era but no." Ashley pointed out, raising an eyebrow.
"It can't be helped." Drake frowned. "He showed up in the same section as Mario and Spongebob, the faces of Nintendo and Nickelodeon respectively. I do not doubt that it will be the same thing here."
"I suppose." Ashley said before shaking his head. "Regardless, that doesn't make Link any less prominent as everyone else here."
"And that goes for his subnode!" Drake nodded. "Barry, Rinky, it is up to you!"
The camera then went to a nodding Barry as Rinky hummed the tune to the Legend of Zelda.
"Leave it to us. Though even if you are a casual Nintendo fan, you should at least know about the Legend of Zelda." Barry said with a chuckle. "It IS the third biggest franchise, next to Super Mario Bros and Pokemon, after all."
"AND defined the Action-Adventure genre. While the story differs from every game, the main premise goes like this." Rinky explained before stifling a cough. "Link,he came to town. Come to save princess Zelda! Ganon took her away, now the children don't play! But they will when Link saves the day! Hallelujah!"
Barry blinked twice. "Isn't that the Link Song by Joe Pleiman?"
"Yeah, I gotta spice this up SOMEHOW!" Rinky shrugged.
Barry rolled his eyes. "But yeah, that is the basic gist, there is the hero, Link, the princess, Zelda and the villain, Ganondorf. Of course, they switch it up sometimes but still."
"The game has spawned several mainline titles, a few spin-offs and even its own cartoon and a couple of CD-I games!" Rinky explained before rolling his eyes. "But gee, the latter games sure are boring around here."
Barry narrowed his eyes. "My boi, these games are what all true YouTube Poop creators strive for."
"I just wonder what I M Meen's up to." Rinky mused.
Barry chuckled. "So yeah, technically there are three Legend of Zeldas, represented in the tournament. Four depending on how you look at it. Breath of the Wild, Ocarina of Time, A Link to the Past and A Link Between Worlds."
"We will not be covering them because while still remaining faithful to their respective games, they are still a mixture of other Links, Zeldas and Ganondorfs." Rinky pointed out. "Like sure Breath of the Wild Link doesn't have a grappling hook but instead have remote bombs, he doesn't have a regular boomerang or spin attack."
"No bad because Breath of the Wild not only got a Warriors spin-off but also a proper sequel." Barry said. "Regardless, that will show up in his moveset so I will leave you two to it!"
The camera then went back to a grinning Ashley. "Don't worry, leave it to us!"
"So let's start small with his moves from Super Smash Bros. He has his iconic Master Sword and shield, along with a bow and arrows, Remote bombs that he detonates at any time, a boomerang and a spin attack." Drake explained.
"He could also use a spear for quicker combat or a two-handed sword for power. He also has a flail that would turn a person's weapons against them." Ashley said. "He also has Cryokinesis where he could create a block of ice for defence, Magensis to draw in metallic objects and Stasis which is an instant time stop."
Drake grinned. "And we cannot forget about the Tears of the Kingdom!"
Ashley frowned. "Yes… About that."
Drake's grin vanished. "What? He won't be able to use his abilities from that game."
"No, it is not that he CAN'T. It is just that they are more situational." Ashley reminded. "Especially in a tournament like this. Let's review: Ultrahand allows you to pick up objects. Not people, OBJECTS. Same with Rewind which allows you to reverse the path of a moving object. Fuse is used to combine two objects. Ascend allows work if there is a ceiling or platform directly above Link and Autobuild… Is Basically Auto-Ultrahand and Fuse."
"Ah, when you put it THAT way." Drake said before brightening up. "But at the same time, I am sure that this tournament will find a way for Link to use them."
Ashley rolled his eyes. "Well, I suppose that is ONE way of looking at it."
PATRICK STAR
NODE: NICKELODEON ALL-STARS/SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS
Drake and Ashley winced at the song that played during Patrick's appearance. The camera then went to Cacey who looked just as horrible. The camera then went to Barry and Rinky. Barry was also wincing and Rinky…
…Gave a bored look.
"What are you guys going on out? The song is just fine." Rinky said, matter-of-factly.
Barry gave Rinky a weird look. The camera then went back to Drake and Ashley who looked just as stunned by Rinky's comment. Ashley then growled before getting out his phone and started to dial onto it. Waiting a few unconscious seconds, someone answered it.
"Ashley, I swear to God if I knew that Patrick would request 'I Wrote This Song' for his theme song, I would never have allowed it!" Xero insisted.
"Ooh, like you didn't allow Be Prepared to play during Simba's appearance in the first tournament!" Ashley accused.
"What are you going about!?" Xero scolded. "THAT song is actually a bop!"
"AND the song of Simba's uncle who KILLED his father and gaslighted him into thinking HE is the cause." Ashley shot back.
"Well, Scar isn't here so where else could I play it?" Xero asked.
"WHAT!?" Ashley roared.
Xero could be heard yelping. "Alright, alright, I admit it is complaints like that and the rapping dog from the Titanic cartoon is the reason I had Horace Horsecollar working the Sound Booth to prevent things like that."
"Well, spoiler alert: That didn't work." Ashley snapped.
"Look, I'm sorry, alright!" Xero muttered.
"You better be! There is not a single gym coach around to punish Patrick for his song choice!" Ashley scolded. "Sure, we have Sulley and his dodgeballs but he is too nice for his own good!"
"...It is a pity that I am mentally exhausted because I really wanted to congratulate you for a good line." Xero muttered.
Ashley groaned. "Whatever. See you later."
With that, he hung up and slumped in his seat. Drake chuckled nervously.
"So what about that em node research!?" Drake said.
The camera then went to Barry and Rinky both exasperated for different reasons.
"...Isn't Ashley the introverted one?" Rinky asked.
"There is a fine line between being introverted and being a doormat." Barry sighed. He then slapped his cheeks together. "Are you ready, kids?"
Rinky's eyes lit up. "Aye-aye, captain!"
"I can't hear you!" Barry scolded.
"Aye-aye, captain!" Rinky repeated, louder.
"Ohhhh!" Barry said. "Who lives in a pineapple under the sea!"
"Spongebob Squarepants!" Rinky cheered.
"Indeed! This guy needs no introduction. As he IS the face of Nickelodeon. Which is ironic because he is actually the TENTH entry in the Nicktoons series of cartoons." Barry noted. "Talking about an Ensemble Darkhorse."
"The cartoon is somewhat of a Slice-of-Life with Spongebob, an excitable yet naive sponge, his best friend, the dimwitted, heavyset Starfish, Patrick, his one-sided Vitriol Best Bud, Squidward, a grumpy and jaded squid, Mr. Krabs, his cheapskate of a boss crab and many more." Rinky said.
"Because the show was created by a MARINE BIOLOGIST, the entire setting takes place underwater so all of the characters, settings and other things are based on ocean-themed things." Barry pointed out. "The show does various things like Spongebob trying to get his boating licence, him working at the Krusty Krab, Krabs' arch-enemy, Plankton trying to steal the secret formula!"
"The show has spawned a whopping THIRTEEN seasons and three films through the long time Spongebob has been on the air!" Rinky grinned. "Along with so many games, spin-off shows and even future movies starring OTHER people like Patrick, Plankton and Sandy."
"It even had songs made for it from Jonathan Coulton, Lady Antebellum, They Might Be Giants, Panic! at the Disco, P!nk and even the late David Bowie." Barry explained. "As you could expect, it was a fit with both children AND adults."
"Yeah, it is a fountain for so many memes. Hell, they found an unofficial YouTube channel with the cast of Grand Theft Auto!" Rinky grinned.
Barry gave Rinky a weird look. "...Grand Theft Auto?"
"Yeah, the sky's the limit with Spongebob!" Rinky grinned. "Sure, it is not a big segment but what you see with Spongebob is what you get. Even now, it is still relevant! Back to you guys!"
The camera then went to a nodding Ashley. "Thank you, guys."
"Now despite Patrick being… Well, out-of-shape, he is deceptively strong." Drake pointed out. "In the games, he is portrayed with his super strength and in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, he is the resident grappler!"
"And apparently in that new trailer for the sequel of said game, he will have a move where he crushes his opponent with his rock home." Ashley offered.
"And don't forget, he has potenting hosting ability due to having the Patrick Show." Drake smirked. "So he should know how to drum up a crowd."
Ashley paused. "...I still can't believe they gave Patrick his own show. Didn't Nickelodeon learn their lesson with Planet Sheen?"
"Considering that nearly any major character is going to have a future movie, no, they did not." Drake sighed.
GARBODOR
NODE: POKEMON
Drake and Ashley blinked twice.
"...I mean I always knew that Xero had garbage taste but this is ridiculous." Ashley piped up with a smirk.
As Drake looked at Ashley in disbelief, Rinky played the Pokedex for Garbodor from off-screen.
"The toxic liquid it launches from its right arm is so virulent that it can kill a weakened creature instantly."
Drake winced. "Well, THAT'S not disturbing."
"...As disgusting as Garbodor is, am I the only one who thinks that they are… Overhated?" Ashley asked.
"Yeah, I guess in a way, it IS kinda created to be unappealing as it is based on not only trash but NEW YORK trash but I personally disliked Stunfisk more." Drake admitted.
"To be fair, Garbodor IS the Ace Pokemon of Oleana. Though your mileage may vary depending on how you feel about her." Ashley shrugged. "Still, a no-nonsense secretary with 'traditional' beautiful Pokemon before ending up with a Garbodor? That is iconic."
"True." Drake said before holding up his tablet. "Now Garbador's stats are mostly balanced albeit with a slightly higher Attack stat and a slightly lower Special Attack stat. So while it is recommended for them to use physical moves, it could still use special moves just fine."
"It has three abilities. The first one is Stench which has a chance to make the opponent flinch if they do a close-range attack." Ashley read before looking exasperated. "...That's not an ability. That's just a common reaction."
Drake chuckled nervously. "They also have Weak Armour where if hit with a close-range attack, they will have their defence lowered but their Speed raised by two stages. That's right. If left by itself, this literal pile of garbage has the potential to be a Fragile Speedster!"
"And his final attack is Aftermath which does damage, equivalent to one fourth of the opponent's attack if they knocked him out with a close-range move." Ashley noted.
"AND it has a lot of good moves. Gunk Shot, one of the strongest Poison attacks in the series, Stockpile that raises their Defence AND Special Defence, Swallow which goes while with Stockpile and heals Garbodor and the dreaded Explosion." Drake said.
Ashley gave a descending whistle. "For someone that is trash, Garbodor genuinely sounds like a threat. Especially when most of the fighters fight close-range."
"Yeah, whether Garbodor is like marmite, you either love it or you hate it." Drake said.
ANTONOV
NODE: KING OF FIGHTERS XV
BIG GUY ALERT!
Drake's eyes lit up. "ANTONOV!"
"Looks like we don't have to wait until SSBFreak updates his Megamix Tournament to see him in action." Ashley chuckled. He then paused. "Hey, wait a minute, isn't Link also currently in the third Battle of the Luminaries arena as we speak. At least in terms of the eyes of the readers."
"Huh. I noticed that too." Drake noted. "With so many characters at all three tournaments, who knew?"
The two then shrugged.
"So anyway, Antonov is the president of the G.A.W. also known as the Galaxy Anton Wrestling." Drake said. "So naturally, he has wrestling moves in his kit."
"Ironically enough, he only has one grapple move in his kit." Ashley noted. He then paused. "...Which is weird because according to Rooflemonger, nearly EVERYONE has at least one grapple move in XV."
"He IS definitely a Big Body type. Someone who uses their large frame for huge normals and huge damage!" Drake nodded. "He also has a somewhat technical move where he slams his hands on the ground and creates a tremor that knocks the opponent off of their feet."
"As the first sub-boss in the Verse saga, he intends to show that the Tournament of Kikai will head to the stars!" Ashley chuckled.
WOLF O'DONNELL
NODE: SUPER SMASH BROS/STAR FOX
Drake smirked. "Looks like Fox and Falco won't be introducing their subnode. Can't let you do that StarFox! Wolf has to start it with style!"
Ashley raised an eyebrow. "You DO know that we are talking about the guy who had the least impressive two elimination streak in the first Tournament of Kikai, right?"
Drake winced. "Yeah, I admit that his two eliminations. Though his first elimination of Lucas is a mixture of two things. First off, despite how he tried to keep cool about it, it is still that he was traumatised by how he got involved in the battle between Soul Calibur and Soul Edge and dealing with brainwashed people."
Ashley frowned. "To be fair, I think a good chunk of people were traumatised by what happened in the second Battle of the Luminaries."
"Secondly, at this point, Super Smash Bros have been dominating the eliminations so it made no difference if they started to go against each other." Drake shrugged. "Also, it is a little unfair to pick on Wolf for his second elimination."
"Yes, he was a victim of Beetlejuice's Disaster Dominos." Ashley sighed. "Regardless, not the greatest streak."
"Well, this could be his chance for redemption." Drake said. "But first things first, Barry, Rinky, your time!"
The camera then went to a nodding Rinky. "Aight! StarFox is a Nintendo Sci-Fi Shooter that stars a bunch of anthros aka they are popular with the FurAffinity crew!"
"Rinky!" Barry scolded before looking at the camera. "But yes, it is basically the Shigeru Miyomoto's tribute to the Thunderbirds cartoon, A British Sci-Fi cartoon."
"The games are about StarFox, a team of space mercenaries having missions through the Lylat system. Starring Fox McCloud." Rinky said before pausing. "...Wow, out of all people, I never expected FOX to be a narcissist."
"It also stars Falco Lombardi, the hotshot pilot, Peppy Hare, the older and wiser one and Slippy Toad, the clumsy yet surprisingly efficient mechanic." Barry explained.
"There were also other pilots like Miyu, Fay and Krystal." Rinky said before wincing. "But due to one thing or another, the main four has always been Fox, Falco, Peppy and Slippy."
"The series has spawned quite a few games. Some good, some… Controversial like Command and Zero." Barry winced.
"...Was Zero really THAT bad?" Rinky asked.
"I don't know. Maybe it is mainly because of the gameplay style. The Wii U was controversial." Barry shrugged before sighing. "Tragically, said Wii U was its last game with only Super Smash Bros keeping it afloat."
Rinky frowned. "Man, that's a bummer. Well, good thing that it is up to people like us to keep it alive."
Barry nodded with a small smile. "That is correct. Back to you guys."
The camera then went to a nodding Drake. "Alright, leave it to us."
"Now, Wolf is a semi-clone of Fox, which is wild because he already got a semi-clone in Falco." Ashley explained. "They all have blasters, dashing forward, a recovery that could go into any direction and a projectile deflector."
"What sets Wolf apart is that he is the heaviest of the three. Not THAT heavy but he has more survivability than his nodal companions." Drake explained. "His blaster shots are slower but deal more damage, his dash attack could spike airborne foes, OH, and did I mention that his blaster is a pistol version of a BAYONET!"
"So he has the potential to do better than last tournament." Ashley mused. He then winced. "I hope…"
KING ANDRIAS
NODE: DISNEY TELEVISION ANIMATION ALL-STARS/AMPHIBIA
BIG GUY ALERT!
Ashley raised an eyebrow. "Amphibia. ANOTHER cartoon I had the unfortunate regret of not watching due to it being a modern cartoon."
"Maybe we should go back to watching cartoons." Drake mused. "I think the dark era is far from over."
"Perhaps." Ashley noted before shrugging. "Hey, guys, we have another new subnode for not only this tournament but out of UVR as a whole!"
The camera then went to a smirking Rinky. "Aight, leave it to us! Amphibia is a Disney Channel cartoon that is a mixture of adventure and comedy created by Matt Braly. For those who don't know, he also worked on Gravity Falls."
"It is about a Thai-American teenage girl named Anne Boonchuy. She was a normal, everyday girl with her best friends, Sasha Waybright and Marcy Wu." Barry explained. "However, after Anne stole a magic music box, they were transported to a land full of frog men, Amphibia."
"Roll credits." Rinky said.
"Needless to say, the appearance of a human took the populace off-guard, she was taken by a helpful frog family." Barry smiled. "An young frog named Sprig Plantar, his grandfather Hopediah or Hop Pop and his little sister Polly. There, Anne finally found out what it means to have true friendship."
"Yeah, while not as bad as Penny Proud's 'friends' or Bloo or Patrick Star, Anne, Sasha and Marcy aren't exactly the ideal friends Anne thought they were." Rinky frowned. "Speaking of Sasha and Marcy, THEY got transported into Amphibia too and forced to adapt in their own ways."
"Eventually, Anne reunites with Sasha and Marcy and learns more about the magic music box with help from the king of Amphibia himself, King Andrias." Barry explained. "As everyone works together to help the girls return home, they discover that the music box might be the key to something much bigger than they could possibly imagine."
"The show ran for three seasons and had a spin-off book called Marcy's Journal: A Guide to Amphibia." Rinky explained. "Sharing a friendly rivalry with the Owl House, which we will cover later on. But for now, apparently the third season of Amphibia and the second season of the Owl House implies that it has a shared universe."
"There is a lot to unpack but we will give you the necessary info at the moment." Barry said.
The camera then went to a nodding Drake. "Thanks, guys. Nice work as always."
Ashley read the tablet and frowned. "Oof. King Andrias is quite the rollercoaster."
Drake raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"
He is presented as an ominous figure and when we actually meet him, he is… Quite affable. But when he has his hands on the music box, he shows his true colours." Ashley winced.
Drake's eyes widened. "So he is a villain?"
"Yes, for most of the show, but in the end, he ended up pulling a Heel-Face turn." Ashley explained. "There is more to the story but that is why he had such a mixed reaction from the crowd."
"Aye. So about his fighting style?" Drake asked.
"Well, despite Amphibia being more fantasy based, his body is actually mechanical." Ashley explained.
Drake jumped. "So he is a CYBORG!?"
"Pretty much. Which is why he is super strong, super fast and super resilient." Ashley continued. "Also, he has a big energy sword and an energy shield."
Drake gave a descending whistle. "He sounds like a threat!"
"Indeed. We should be grateful he pulled a Heel-Face Turn." Ashley nodded.
BAMBI
NODE: KINGDOM HEARTS/BAMBI
"Ah, it is good to see that Bambi isn't going into this in a blind rage." Drake smiled.
"For now… It seems that he is still wary about all of the guns." Ashley frowned.
"Yeah, can't blame the little guy." Drake sighed. "But we will explain why a little later with Barry and Rinky."
The camera then went to a bored Rinky. "...I still can't believe that BAMBI made it into the first Tournament of Kikai and yet Ariel and almost Zack Fair didn't."
"Now, now." Barry scolded. "Bambi is the fifth movie in Disney Animation canon, based on the book, 'Bambi, A Life in the Woods'."
"Apparently, it is a coming-of-age story, starring… Well, Bambi, a roe deer and his daily life." Rinky explained. "Anddddd that's it. It is about a roe deer.
He then paused. He then smirked before getting into a flying superhero pose.
"ADVENTURE, H…" Rinky started.
"NO!" Barry shouted, startling Rinky. "None of that! Shame! On! You!"
The ghost rolled his eyes before crossing his arms.
"Besides, it isn't all rainbows and gumdrops. The first book showed us how scary nature could be." Barry scolded.
"Meh. If I wanted a story like that, I would just watch Watership Down." Rinky said.
"The Disney film is like that too." Barry said before frowning. "Sure, it has that usual Disney cuteness but it can't get real dark real quick. Remember the scene with Bambi's mom."
"EVERYONE remembers the scene with Bambi's mom. And as much as I am not a fan of Bambi, I… Won't deny how INTENSE it was." Rinky winced.
"The movie has gotten a sequel, though it is more of a midquel, focusing more on Bambi's relationship with his father which he barely saw in the first movie." Barry said.
"All in all, what you see with Bambi is what you get." Rinky shrugged.
The camera then went to a nodding Ashley. "That is alright, Rinky. Not all node segments have to be lengthy."
"Now I remember you telling me that Bambi could fight with a standard platformer protagonist in the updated version of Chain of Memories?" Drake asked.
"That is correct. Of course, due to the combat system, you need a certain amount of cards but here?" Ashley shrugged.
"I actually heard that deer are actually quite heavy. Like not elephant or hippo heavy but apparently a baby deer weighs as much as an average human?" Drake said, scratching his head.
"That is correct. Also…" Ashley started.
"WAIT!" Drake shouted.
Ashley jumped. "W-What is it?"
"Can I have this one?" Drake asked.
"Um, alright." Ashley said, blinking twice.
Drake nodded before stifling a cough and looking at the camera.
"Despite its cute appearance, the eldritch deer uses its divine power to transfer the life essense of its surroundings into consumable orbs that infuse with one's soul and heals any warrior that has gained its respect. It can also do so to replenish their mana at its discretion. It also allows the bonded warrior to steal more life essence and mana from slain foes."
Ashley blinked twice after Drake's wordy explanation. He then smirked.
"Comment section of the dub for a Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy XV crossover fan comic?" Ashley asked.
"Yyyyyyep." Drake said.
"Nice." Ashley nodded.
The two then fist-bumped each other. Then, the Mystery Alarm went off.
"Ooh, it looks like it is time for our next Mystery Fighter!" Ashley smiled.
"Let's see which one if this one could surprise us like Bambi!" Drake smirked.
JAZZ JACKRABBIT
NODE: JAZZ JACKRABBIT
Ashley put his hand on his chin. "Huh. Just like with Gumball, I definitely heard of him a few times but nothing more."
"Yeah, same here, which is weird because Tinyhammer usually gravitates towards the more cartoony characters." Drake mused.
"Well, at least it gives the research team more work!" Ashley smiled. "Barry, Rinky, this is the last new node so make it count!"
The camera then went to a nodding Barry. "Alright! You know the fable, the tortoise and the hare? Well, take that, make them anthropomorphic, arm them to the teeth and be out for each other's blood!"
"I know, right!?" Rinky grinned. "It is Developed by Epic Megagames, now known as Epic Games aka the creators of the Gears of the Wars series, the Unreal Engine and Fortnite."
"It is about a green-haired rabbit called Jazz Jackrabbit who goes across galaxies to free the kidnapped princess of his home planet from the evil Devan Shell." Barry explained. "How is he going to do that? With his super speed and his LFG-2000!"
"Which is based on DOOM'S BFG!" Rinky grinned. "That's right! Jazz isn't merely a Sonic clone. I mean, to a certain extent he is, he is. However, Jazz the Jackrabbit isn't a simple platformer. It is also a platforming SHOOTER!"
"The game involves going around maze-like platforms while shooting enemy turtles." Barry explained.
"It also spawned a sequel with a LOT of extension packs for both games, adding more levels, including a Christmas-themed one. The original sequel even had a new character, Spaz, Jazz's brother and one of the extension packs, Lori, Spaz's boyfriend!" Rinky grinned. It then faltered. "...And a future pack called her Jazz's SISTER. Which means…"
"Yeah, no, we are not doing this." Barry muttered without missing a beat. "The series went to a standstill when its true third game went 3D. Not unlike Bubsy."
"But it is not all gloom and doom and not only does the games have a cult following after all of this time but it is STILL being played online." Rinky explained. "There even appeared on in 2017 anddddd… Apparently, it got a Spiritual Successor in Freedom Planet?"
"Freedom Planet? Wasn't the main protagonist of that game, Sash Lilac, in the third Battle of the Luminaries?" Barry asked, raising an eyebrow. "Maybe Xero and Maurice figured that out and that inadvertently got into inviting Jazz."
Rinky then shrugged. "Well, back to you guys. We will send you the list of Jazz's various gun ammo."
The camera then went back to Ashley. "Thanks, guys. I knew we could count on you!"
Drake gave a descending whistle as he looked at his tablet. "Rinky wasn't exaggerating. Jazz got a lot of ammo for his gun."
"Well, he IS a shooter protagonist." Ashley shrugged. "What does he have?"
"Well, he has his blaster which is the weakest but at the cost that it has infinite ammo. Toasters are bigger, fiery versions of the fiery shots, the RF Missile flew out in a V-Shaped fashion, Bouncers shoot bouncing grenades." Drake read. "Also, he also has TNT that acts like a mine. There are also grenades, ricocheting shots and rocket launchers."
"Wow. Good thing for everyone else, he has limited ammo for every one of them except the blaster, huh?" Ashley asked.
"Yeah, and he could have a half-pheasant half-eagle bird companion called a Hip Hop to act as an attack drone for him in terms of gameplay." Drake said. "He also has a hoverboard."
"Woah! Why didn't he get a comeback just like the likes of other platformers?" Ashley asked.
"Probably because EpicGames is using the money to fund a possible sequel to convert it into V-Bucks." Drake muttered, rolling his eyes.
Ashley frowned. "Oh… Right…"
NASTY CANASTA
NODE: LOONEY TUNES: WORLD OF MAYHEM
BIG GUY ALERT!
Ashley jumped in his seat. "How could a Looney Tune look so intimidating?"
"Yeah, I could see why World of Mayhem chose his original design." Drake nodded.
Ashley looked at Drake with a raised eyebrow. "Wait, original design?"
"Yeah, he has appeared in two more cartoons. However, he has a vastly different one in all of them." The mayor explained.
"...Well, THAT is not confusing." Ashley muttered.
"To be fair, I think the original design is what shows up nowadays and honestly, I think it is his best one." Drake said. "The second one is… Okay. Not bad but not great. And the third one… Looks like a completely different character altogether."
"Ah." Ashley said before reading his tablet. "So he has four variants: Cannoneer, Major, Ronin Canasta and Space Runner Canasta. Which translates to pirate, Clayton-esque hunter, ronin and space outlaw respectively."
"Yeah, that sounds about right." Drake nodded. "I wonder why they don't give Rocky more criminal skins."
"Because you can't take the gangster out of the Film Noir but you can't take the Film Noir out of the gangster?" Ashley asked.
Drake let out a laugh. "Good one, Ash!"
MEWTWO
NODE: POKEMON
Drake and Ashley's eyes lit up.
"The research efforts of a certain scientist ultimately resulted in this Pokémon. Its powers are dedicated to battling." Rinky's PokeDex said from off-screen.
Drake smirked. "See? What did I tell you? The best for last!"
"True. I was going to question why Mewtwo got the last fighter syndrome and not other runner-ups, but then again, he is not only the runner up in the first Battle of the Luminaries but also the first TOURNAMENT OF KIKAI." Ashley noted. "So it is only fitting that he will show up here."
"Though to be fair, I heard through the grapevine that it was PENNY PROUD who was supposed to come here but she asked Mewtwo to swap numbers with her." Drake explained.
Ashley jumped at this. "Wait, you can do that!"
Then, Ashley's phone started to go off. Raising an eyebrow, he went to answer it.
"I admit that this is a first for an UVR tournament. However, Penny AND Mewtwo both consented to it and it is not like Mewtwo's draw is that much later." Xero explained.
"Okay, fair enough. But if that is the case, why did Penny do that?" Ashley asked.
"She didn't specify. All she said was that she wanted to help somebody." Xero said.
Drake smirked. "Looks like she is already putting her status as a champion to good use."
"Looks like it." Xero said. "This should be the only instance of this, though. If there is, I will give you a text. Until then."
With that, he hung up.
"I know that there is no point in asking here and now but what do you think Penny needs to do to bother switching draws with Mewtwo?" Ashley asked.
"We may and may not find out when she expects the arena." Drake shrugged. "Until then, let's focus on Mewtwo."
Ashley nodded. "Now Mewtwo has his Super Smash Bros base kit, Shadow Ball as his standard projectile, Confusion which disorients nearby enemies and deflect projectiles, Teleport to get out of harm's way and Disable which temporarily stuns his opponent AND disables the last move they used."
"However, being a clone of Mew means he has access to a LOT of TMs." Drake continued. "Like Ice Beam for an ice-elemental projectile, Swift for weak yet never-missing star projectiles and Ancient Power for not only earth-elemental damage but having a chance to raise all five of his stats!"
"He also has his spoon. Something that he doesn't have in the games but in the MANGA to use a blade!" Ashley explained.
"He also has Pressure, an ability that exerts his presence over his opponent and has the opponent to use more for their moves, making them right out of PP, MP, mana, etc." Drake said. "He also has Unnerve his opponent… Into not eating berries."
"Do you think he will do just as well as he did in the last Tournament of Kikai?" Ashley asked.
"I don't see why not. Mewtwo let loose both then and the third Battle of the Luminaries and he managed to do well." Drake said. "So why not here?"
"Well, that is everyone." Ashley said. "Now Bowser, Fuzzy, Antonov, King Andrias and Nasty Canasta are all Big Guys so twenty people will be eliminated."
"This is also the part where I remind everyone of the Safe Zone vote. However, there is something that Cacey didn't mention." Drake said before narrowing his eyes. "You can only vote for a fighter per node. Which means if you voted for Bowser, you can't vote for Link or Wolf O'Donnell for the rest of your voteform."
"I think that rule is put in just so Super Smash Bros won't dominate the votes just like with the main voting at these things." Ashley shrugged.
"Well, it seems to be working because I saw so far that the Smash votes are quite skewered." Drake said.
"But otherwise, yes, other than you can't vote the same node in the voteform twice, you can add any character from the voteform, whether you voted for said fighters to Live or Die." Ashley said.
"As for the Side Battle, it is between Skitty and Treecko from Pokemon or to be specific, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon against Babbit and Catsello from Looney Tunes: World of Mayhem." Drake explained.
"So what is it for now? Now if we excuse ourselves, we have a lot of stuff to do." Ashley said.
