Chapter 46: Tank War
We're still in the tank and we're still waiting for our vital air cover, just as it has been for minutes which felt like very long hours, we have been constantly firing shells at the enemy tanks as they come closer and closer. It's only now that they return fire, although they fire in all sorts of directions because they don't know where we are due to invisibility. Worse we're now out of ammunition, all of it gone. All we can do at this moment in time is wait for our air cover to come, which we hope will be soon but in the mean time we also hope that the shells won't hit us, and if they do we hope that our armour and our tanks are powerful enough to negate the damage of their shells. We're doing a lot of hoping but we also look to see if there are any Leanbox infantry with their tanks so we can at least fight them.
It is then that the shells do hit our tanks and there seems to be neither limit to the shells hitting us, nor any sign of the shells stopping but even if it is at least for now the shells do no effect. As it goes on however we then notice something of bigger concern: On our screens we see countless infantry advancing from the tanks. They must be after taking control of our own tanks.
"Hmmm looks like Leanbox are trying to send their infantry and dear goddess there appears to be an infinite number of them. They must have worked out we're out of ammunition and they probably intend to take control of our tanks, if they board any of them our tanks will be as good as theirs." Noire speaks with concern.
"Does this super tank have any means to defend itself against infantry without using the turrets?" White asks her.
"Fortunately this tank has not one but two coaxial mini guns and these guns are able to rotate horizontally and vertically 180°, in fact all of our tanks have them. Noire spoke with pride.
My wonderful girlfriend always having tricks up her sexy arm length black silk gloves, always able to come up with plans for any situation and her vehicles are well prepared for anything.
"I'll take control of one if you like?" Ram proposed.
"I can take control of the other one too?" Rom added.
"Sure no problem, I'm pleased my troops are doing the same thing as well. They can send their infantry but it won't be effective. As our tanks are very strong and able to withstand bullets, rockets, charges any explosives their infantry want to throw at us. They'll just get mowed down which is a big shame because I just know thousands upon thousands of their soldiers will be gone in a matter of minutes, oh Vert why do you have to do this, why do you have to spill their blood onto our hands?" Noire spoke initially with pride when she spoke of our tanks power, but her voice changed to sadness when she spoke of the impending massacre that is as sure to happen as the sun setting.
By now all our tanks are slowly but surely moving backwards ensuring we are slightly faster than their infantry's maximum speed, and while we head back our tanks fire their coaxial mini guns at them. Just like Noire predicted despite the Leanbox foot soldiers firing their various guns, firing their various rockets and trying to throw charges at us, our tanks prove invincible to their weapons. Not even the continued hits from the enemy tanks are able to put a dent into our tank's health, let alone destroy it completely. Our weapons on the other hand prove to be deadly against their infantry; the bullets not just mow them down but even gib them, separating their body parts reminding me of when I play World at War. What's better though is that our mini guns don't overheat at all no matter how many bullets have been fired, could this be down to the physics of this world or technology?
But just like before in this battle our weaponry maybe effective in taking down their intended targets, but there are just so many targets to shoot. And once again ammunition is running low and since the planes have still yet to arrive we have to think of other options. Not only that but the only way of ensuring our tanks don't get boarded, is to move back but in doing so we allow their massive army to Lastation, and when they reach there they'll probably destroy it and the war will probably be as good as lost, and with that any hope of a better world. But despite all that, surrender is not an option and neither is defeat, we will think of something.
"Noire, it's a shame that once again ammunition is nearly out but I do have an idea. We could use our infantry to attack their infantry; it will mean we have a means of wiping out their foot soldiers and any of our troops that die by their tanks we could heal after the battle. Do you have many racers we could use for battle? I mean we can hit and run them, or hell even run them over. Do you have any ground Pokémon in your disposal we could use against the infantry? I mean we could use them against the tanks. What do you think?" I ask her.
"It's a shame we do not have as many troops compared to theirs, if we can just use them without them having to deal with the tanks, we'd be able to suffer less losses and we'd also be able to inflict more damage to their infantry. As for the cars we have quite a large number but sadly not enough compared to their infantry and that's a similar story for the Pokémon. If we engage them now with the rest of our ground forces they won't last long against the tanks, but on the other hand if we wait the enemy could potentially reach Lastation and when they do, significant damage will be caused. No doubt game over for Lastation along with our hopes for a better Gameindustri. Hmmmm…" Noire our glorious CPU thought aloud.
Surrender, attack now, or stall what choice does she have?
It is then Noire gets on the radio as she's made her decision our nation in the balance.
"Attention all ground troops, I want you to form up a defensive line just outside Lastation, and do not advance and do not engage until you see the Leanbox massive army. Be advised we're retreating and heading your way with them in pursuit, we must hold out at that line at all costs before our air cover is ready. They shouldn't be too long now." The Lastation goddess spoke on the radio determined to keep fighting. Her spirit still as strong as ever.
For what felt like a long time we have been moving back to our defensive line while their tanks and infantry are in pursuit. It' s not looking good, our air cover has yet to be seen and worse we are nearly at our defensive line, where we will have to make our stand. I…we can just tell that this could be our last stand… well…. at least we'll die together in our glorious nation but by the time we reach the lines to make our stand as if on cue, squadron upon squadron of our bombers and fighters fly over the enemy ground formations with such speed, such agility, dropping their countless bombs on them almost as though they have a bomb specifically for every tank they have on the ground.
This cheers us up, boosts our morale as we see all the tanks being destroyed, just being scrap metal. Their turrets twisted, their hatches being full of smoke and flames, their infantry lie all over the place, body parts scattered all across the battle field. Corpses everywhere soaked in their blood, a gruesome sight. Once again, although more so now I'm reminded of the carnage: the death of so many people, so many soldiers even if it's the enemy it's still terrible, horrific and gruesome. This bothers all of us but despite that we still have a job to do as even if all of their tanks are destroyed, there's still a very massive number of enemy infantry. I don't know what to feel. I feel happy that we just have the infantry to deal with, and with our superior forces and our allied Pokémon I'm confident, but it's so sad to see the huge unbelievable cost of human life. It's so tragic and whoever truly is responsible has to pay for it no matter what.
"All enemy tanks are now destroyed; I repeat Leanbox has no more tanks, well done pilots, now I need you to take out the enemy artillery. Thanks for the cover; I think you may have saved Lastation. I'm proud of you and I thank you so much." Noire spoke with pride in her voice.
"Thank you, we will take them out, be advised we only have enough bombs for their artillery we will have to refuel after we take down their artillery." The pilot responded.
"Understood we should be fine against their infantry, we'll call for help if need be. OK thanks out." Noire replied.
"OK everyone, our high tech future proof air force has destroyed every single tank that Leanbox had for this fight, but this battle is not yet over, they still have a massive army of foot soldiers. Our aircraft is currently dealing with their artillery but rest assured everyone we have superior technology on our side, and we also have the help of our Loweean allies and their Pokémon. We will win this battle and I can promise you my friends, my loyal people that not a single one of our troops will die today and no matter what Leanbox throws at us, no matter how much they throw at us. They will not take Lastation and we will survive to ensure we get the Gameindustri we want!" Noire spoke with passion and determination. I was moved and inspired with her every word. I won't give up, I'll never give up.
After which we all get out of our tanks as we have no more ammunition inside them. When we have all left I like around and see a long line as far as I can see of our soldiers armed to the teeth, some of them throw out their Pokéballs and outcome different types: some big, some small, all different types apart from flying: electricity, water, fire, grass, normal, physic, ghost, rock, fighting, ice, ground, dark and steel. All of them from the actual series, and with them we all march together past our tanks in formation, our shields up. The Pokémon march in front of us too.
After what felt like marching for a while we then see the enemy Leanbox army. Although it's an army of infantry it's unbelievably massive, as I look across the terrain everywhere is covered with enemy soldiers standing there. Thankfully though they don't seem to be as well armed or equipped as us. They don't have any shields but perhaps they as well could have weaponry that is as powerful as ours. But I then look to the centre, outside of their army to see a short creature standing there. The creature is green and he wears robes, his ears are big and pointy like an elf and his hair is grey and little, he carries with him a walking stick because of a limp in his three fingered hands that look like claws. He is Master Yoda.
I wonder how powerful he is here. Can we hope to defeat the Jedi Master? Kinda sad we have to fight him considering how I have much respect for him.
"Come to stop you, Darth Vader I have. Your presence I sense, where are you hmmm herh herh herh." The little old green alien spoke in his distinct voice and style.
As if on cue he arrives along with his star troopers. He moves through our army only to stand before Yoda, his breathing distinctive and his star troopers playing his theme with their instruments.
"Ask you shall receive. Enough music guys thank you, Master Yoda it is so good to see you, aren't you pleased to see me?" The black cyborg said in his emotionless voice.
"So I see, still on the dark side, you are, defeated you, I had hoped Luke Skywalker would have." Yoda commented.
"I am no longer on the dark side Master Yoda and he has defeated me." Darth Vader replied.
"You may say that but believe you, I do not." The Leanbox Jedi turned Sith said.
"It is you that is on the dark side Master Yoda; I sense your brain being washed. I feel your will not being free." Darth Vader breathed heavily like he always does.
"To Master Green Heart my loyalty is herh herh herh." The Master said with determination.
"Why did you join her? She only seeks conflict with Lastation, join me and together we can live in Lastation as two great Jedis in peace." Vader offered his hand out as a sign of friendship.
"Tell you if you can defeat me Darth Vader, I will. However, never join the dark side of the force, will I. Though powerful it may be." Yoda said.
He then gets out his green light sabre. Our Jedi does the same although his light sabre is now blue as well as his weapon drawing quite slowly.
It is now they both start fighting with their light sabres as I hear the sound of them being on, as well as the clashes of those weapons. While our fighter fights in a similar style to fencing, Yoda is much more mobile in fact he is jumping all over the place as he tries to strike Vader. At first I thought it was an even match, even a stalemate but now I realise that Vader is too slow and he's just defending, as he's trying to block strike after strike from Yoda's sabre although it is very fast. I now realise that Vader had his power from the dark side of the force, and now he's on the good side he doesn't seem to be as powerful. This can clearly be seen here, eventually as I feared Yoda managed to disarm Vader by whacking the sabre off his hand, only to follow with Yoda using the force to send Vader flying to the ground.
Without time wasting Yoda was about to deal the finishing blow as he does acrobats in the air, only I thought he was going to kill Vader, but as his light sabre was within moments of killing our Jedi, Uni manages to shoot Yoda's sabre off of his hand in mid-air. He then lands beside Vader only to then jump away back towards Leanbox, he left with such speed that I don't even see him leaving that well.
It's a relief he left because could we have beaten him? A master of the force? Especially considering how agile he was, it's a miracle Uni saved Vader from Yoda. I can only hope that next time Darth Vader can defeat Master Yoda and bring him back to us.
Fortunately our guy in the black suit is able to get up on his own power though while he's OK, his pride is not, I can tell he's depressed, worried maybe even frightened.
"I am sorry Master; I am not powerful enough to become a Jedi once again." He said, I sense sadness in his voice.
"It's alright Darth Vader don't worry about it, you did well to fight him, I just think you was unlucky, hey I can train you in sword fighting or get some of my guys to train you. If that's what you wish." She reassured him.
"Thank you, I appreciate it but I think it's because much of my power had come from the dark side of the force, now I am back on the light side I have lost that power. I need to find a way of becoming powerful enough to face Yoda again without joining the dark side." He replied.
"Hmmm. Perhaps you should try and ensure you do as many good deeds as you can, perhaps talk to Cole McGrath see what he has to say, but don't worry I sense good in you now. I believe you can become a powerful goodie like us." Noire advised.
"Very well I shall train then, I wish all of Lastation the best of luck on defeating Leanbox. Master Uni I thank you for saving me, you're a very good shot." He said.
"Thanks for the compliment I'm pleased my mighty accuracy can be of use." The Lasation CPU Candidate spoke with pride.
With that he leaves with his star troopers, it's probably for the best as we cannot afford to lose him and if he was to fight the Leanbox army he probably wouldn't stand a chance. Although Yoda has now fled, we now see another person. He is covered head to toe in futuristic armour. He's covered in green and his visor is yellow. He is the Master Chief, he stands at the centre probably wanting a one on one duel or something. He carries an M41 rocket launcher from Halo in his hands.
Even though both our army and their army point their guns at each other, none of us fire, the guy in green doesn't even say anything. What does he want? After a short while of what appears to be staring down, our leaders walk to the centre to greet him. It is at that point where Master Chief turns his rocket launcher and fires both rounds at the Loweean CPU. Both shells are enough to send Blanc to the ground as she lies there with little sign of life.
I thought at first he killed her but it was then I see her sit up and then quickly get up. With fury she fires her Javelin and then fires shot after shot of her MM1 launcher. While every shot hits the Leanbox warrior they're more like dodge balls hitting him, as while they do hurt they don't seem to do any serious damage no matter where it hit: his head, his chest, his knees not even his manhood. But one shot from the launcher was enough to hurt his hand with such force that the chief was forced to drop his weapon. Not long after the Javelin missile then hits him on impact causing him to fly in the air and land on the floor with a thud.
"How do you like that Jackass?!" Blanc yelled.
"Are you OK Blanc?" I asked her.
"Of course we're OK, we're CPUs. If he wishes to take us down he's going to need more than that." She replied calmly with a smug look.
This knowledge pleases me and it's nice that our abilities as CPUs and the Juggernogs ensure we have plenty of health. Unfortunately it seems the Master Chief has a lot of health too as he now gets up, and in his hand is a sniper rifle from Halo. I'm no expert but is it a SES99C-S2AM? I don't know. Rather than retaliate against Blanc he decides to shoot his rifle at Uni standing in the front lines.
After 4 shots Uni lies on the ground, although for some odd reason while she lies seemingly unconscious and lifeless there is no blood on her body at all. Like with Blanc my silver curly haired younger sister gets up and with her Barrett 50 Cal in her right hand she fires multiple rounds at the Master Chief. How can he survive all of these shots? Not only that but he's still standing. I'm convinced he's not indestructible though because at least he flinched with every shot, and like before one shot even hit his hand with such force he dropped his gun. I know the Barrett is a powerful weapon but it doesn't seem to be enough to defeat him. At least it's a stalemate while it's difficult for us to defeat him it is difficult for him to defeat us.
"Hmph your luck ran out when you found me." Uni boasted with pride.
He then gets out a special sword that's full of light, I remember this to be another weapon from Halo: The Type 1 Energy Sword, I remember how powerful this weapon was and this concerns me. I think this weapon could potentially kill us with one strike. With the sword in his hand he charges at our Lastation CPU.
By instinct she quickly throws an EMP grenade at the Chief which causes the sword to lose its light and its power. Now because of the EMP the sword is just as powerful as a regular sword, made of your average metal. He strikes repeatedly and hard at Noire but rather than slicing through the shield which he had hoped for, the shield just blocks the sword constantly. Both of them then get out their respective pistols and start shooting at each other.
Thanks to the EMP grenade the stalemate is no broken, as while the Leanbox warrior cannot penetrate through Noire's future proof powerful riot shield, her G Con 45 is very powerful and causes a good amount of damage to the Master Chief. When he runs out of bullets he doesn't feel he can fight anymore as his body aches from the bullets causing him clutch on to his wounds with his hands. To finish him off Uni shoots the sword and his M6D pistol off his hands with one shot.
Rather than dying on the battlefield, not to mention him losing all his weapons he runs away. I find that odd that first Yoda flees and now him? I didn't think that they would be allowed to do that considering how the others are insistent that they fight to the death. But perhaps this is all part of their scheme, to taunts us with their characters.
"Heh heh. It looks like a got a little too serious." Noire remarks in her usual posh voice.
By the time he leaves our sight the Leanbox army decides to shoot at our Pokémon. If they tried to surprise us it didn't work as we return fire and give the order for our Pokémon to charge at them, as well as to do their various moves in hopes that with our combined might, we can defeat their overwhelming army or at least bring chaos into their formation.
All I see now are just various Pokémon attacking their enemy but I do hear different sorts of sounds. I hear fire being unleashed, water flowing, the ground shaking in the distance, the sound of thunder and electricity, as well as the noises of rumbling, screaming and lots of gun fire. And that is all I see, I have no idea of the progress our Pokémon makes as I just see our Pokémon attack them. I don't even see any Leanbox troops, I only hear them fight. Though after a while I hear the Pokémon growl in pain, as I'm guessing they're fainting and as time goes on I hear more and more fainting. I'm not sure at this rate they can hold out for much longer, come to think of it, it's not long at all before I see a few Leanbox soldiers come out amongst the Pokémon that are still standing. Even though we're now able to shoot them as they come out, they still manage to come but even more so. While this happens more and more Pokémon faint.
While at least the Pokémon aren't dead but merely fainted I hope we can heal them all up, I hope they'll be OK. Thing is we're assuming we can survive long enough to be able to heal them. Pretty soon afterwards one by one the Pokémon are surrounded and their moves are just not enough to stop the army from surrounding them.
As I feared all of the Pokémon eventually faint and yet there are still a massive number of Leanbox foot soldiers. Although we're heavily outnumbered despite inflicting some casualties we open fire at them. We manage to take out hundreds if not thousands of them at once, but this is not enough. They just keep coming as they march towards us, eventually they return fire.
Even though our shields protect us from their bullets there are so many and they fire with such force that we couldn't fire back as we hide behind our shields, hoping they can withstand all of their bullets. Thankfully they fire in unison, meaning after a short while they have to reload their guns. This is our window to take out more of them and we do. They're closer to us and they can't fire back temporarily meaning we can hit a lot more of them and we do indeed kill a lot of them.
I see plenty of their troops just fall to the floor as they're shot in different places, they end up covered in blood, some even have lost their body parts due to some of our weapons being that powerful, as well as them lying all over the place as they are hit by our grenade launchers. What a waste of life there's just far too many of them dead but many more are soon to follow, as without a single kill they just keep on coming and coming, as well as shooting our shields hoping to break through. Even with Uni performing multiple head shots with one bullet, Blanc causing multiple deaths with her launchers, and Noire ripping numerous enemies to shreds with her mini gun along with others doing their bit, It doesn't seem to make a dent in their forces.
While we all keep fighting, it is taking a toll on me as there just seems to be no end to the enemy, no end to this carnage or destruction. They're not followers of Neptune or her arrogant friends like Plutia and Peashy. They're just soldiers following the orders of a CPU who's now gone bad, brain washed.
This process of mowing them down and them coming lasts for a long time, it's almost a battle of attrition as to who would fall first: us with our shields and superior weapons and abilities, or them with their vast superior numbers. Now I feel the question is answered for me, as after ages of guarding our position and an unbelievable amount of enemies killed, we're low on ammunition plus which I'm concerned with the state of our shields, while the Leanbox army they show no signs of diminishing. Is this the entire Leanbox population they're throwing at us? And what percentage of their entire army have we wiped out in this battle alone? When we all realise the difficult situation we're in Noire gets on the radio.
"All air units be advised we're engaging enemy infantry but we may be over run, we're low on ammo and we're concerned we could lose this. Are you able to engage the enemy infantry?" Our Lastation CPU asks on the radio.
"Be advised we're currently rearming, we'll be there as soon as we can." The pilot replied.
"Thanks." She replied.
So déjà vu again our air cover is coming but the question is can it come again as I notice the occasional few of our troops dying for the first time while many of us are switching to our side arms. When we run out of ammunition from those weapons, it will probably be knife work and I'm pretty sure that will end before it even starts. Come on aircraft will you be able to come in time like you did with the tanks? Or will it be the end, the end for us all?
