Chapter 68: Position Terminated
I must have had my eyes shut for a few minutes now, and yet I don't feel anything. I expected to be in pain or perhaps to be in a different world or something like that. But I still have the same feelings as a few minutes ago. What's going on? As odd as it is to say why I am not being put out of my misery?
Out of curiosity or perhaps bravery I slowly open my eyes, until they're wide open. I take in my surroundings and I'm surprised to find that Neptune is not where she originally was. But after more looking I find that Neptune was really a robot, as she's collapsed on the floor with smoke coming out of her head, her eyes are tight shut. I guess this makes sense being as how she was meant to be an animatronic in this nightmare of mine.
But now this nightmare of mine has turned into a heavenly dream as I see Noire standing there smiling, looking flirtatious and triumphant. She stands with an M4 Carbine in her right hand leaning on her right shoulder, and a can of Diet Pepsi in her left hand. I even see Blanc and both of their younger sisters standing in the same pose as well with similar items.
It makes me feel warm inside to see my friends stand there and to see my enemy defeated. I feel so relieved, and I can't help but think about what fun we're going to have, as once again we will give them the punishment they deserve for failing to defeat us once again.
"Are you alright Black? It must have been very scary for you. I'm pleased to have come in time. I'm just glad that it was your love for me was what led me to save you." My CPU speaks in such a caring voice; it shows that as usual she looks out for me.
"It was indeed Noire; I was worried that I wouldn't have survived this ordeal I experienced. Even to the end I didn't think I'd survive. What time is it and how did you manage to kill that piece of trash so quickly? I didn't even hear any gun shots, or explosions or anything like that." I ask with much amazement. She never ceases to amaze me.
"The time is 6:15am so by rules of this nightmare you had already won, even before Neptune came in. She cheated and she must have intended to kill you even if you did technically win, which disgusts me to no end. It was fortunate I manage to destroy the thing with an EMP grenade; it was such a close call as I stopped her before she delivered the killer blow. That wasn't the only close call as when the place lost power it was rather difficult to see. It's kinda annoying how those dreams take away from us the powers we have when we're awake, like being able to see in the dark. Yeah it was difficult to try and find this office, and I then encountered a few of their animatronics as I went round looking for you. Fortunately I was able to stop them with an EMP grenade; they just died and stopped working as well as falling over." She explains with pride only to laugh at the end.
In fact we all laugh at them being taken down. They got owned by an EMP grenade? It's pretty hilarious.
"Well, being as how it's quarter past 6 in the morning I'm guessing it's time for them to open this death trap of a dump. I wouldn't be surprised if Neptune the owner is here, probably having a nap and taking joy in ignoring the dangers of working here. I propose as health and safety inspectors we should pay that purple haired moron a visit, and file a law suit. You could have died in there, though I wouldn't be surprised if that would have made her day. We'll take the lift and then we'll teach her some discipline Lastation style." My goddess proposes with quite a badass smile.
We all agree and head for the lifts, though not before my wife gives me a spare Diet Coke and an M4 Carbine. As we leave the office and walk on the corridors to find the lifts, I actually get to see how poor this place looks. Although I've seen it already on camera, I find myself looking at ripped up wallpaper, torn up posters, plenty of rubbish all over the place as well as dirt all over the floor. It's not very good hygiene and it baffles me why no one cleans this place. I don't think it's ever been cleaned at all. Who would want to work in this dump, I'd never touch this foul place with a barge pole.
When we reach the lift this is where all of the fun begins. My ladies stand behind me drinking their Diet Pepsi, while Blanc does an impressive job in singing Love to You by Etta James, which happens to be playing in the lift right now. As the lift goes up I decide to take off my jacket just for fun. Only for me to then drink some delicious Diet Pepsi. The lift goes up slowly while Blanc sings her song, I find Noire in awe of how handsome I am to her. Which if I'm honest I never really thought Noire found me to be handsome, I would never consider myself to be attractive at all. But none the less it makes me feel so warm and perhaps relieved to know that Noire finds me attractive too.
I must say we all look badass, it's as if we're doing a commercial as Noire and the candidates open their cans, and then drink their Pepsi's simultaneously in quite the distinctive manner, it has to be said. They drink in a rather flirting manner as well. Yeah this is definitely going to be fun when we own Neptune and punish her for her ignorance and negligence.
Eventually we reach the floor of the offices, which is where the wretched owner probably does her so called work.
The lift opens and I see a corridor full of ripped up wall paper, with an old tatty carpet to match. We walk past room after room which appears to be full of discarded food that it's rotting inside. What makes it worse is that it appears to attract flies and rats that seem to have a taste for Neptune's disgusting food. That alone brings us all concerns and that is an issue we need to raise to this owner. Yeah as opposed to storing vital documents they use the storage for discarded food. They don't seem to have any idea of how to run a business at all; they probably don't care at all though.
After seeing a few of these horror rooms, I then see an office with Plutia sat there in a room that's full of rotting food and many of her tatty old stuffed animals. When she sees us she screams her head off like an animatronic, before charging at a nearby wall knocking her out from hitting it with her head. I must admit it's rather amusing to see Plutia like this. My guess is she becomes fearful of me when she knows we've beaten her. A far cry from what happened in the series that's for sure.
As we walk down the corridor some more and head closer to her office, we hear Neptune whining and complaining like the sore loser she is.
"Nepgear? Where are you Nepgear? I thought I told you to clear out all the rubbish. The corridor smells in here! You're supposed to be here at 6AM to clear out Black's dead body! It's your job to do all the cooking, all the serving, all the washing up and deal with the finances. But you haven't done your duties for weeks now! You're so useless Nep Junior. I would have hoped that having you do all the work, would save me money from having to pay for people more wages to do the work. You haven't even waked me up and given me a bath you're that useless. You're also supposed to be keeping that Noire off my back as well!..." The witch cries out.
It's just like from what I remember in the series, Neptune making Nepgear do all the work because she's that lazy. I wouldn't be surprised if Neptune treats Nepgear like a slave in Neutralland. Gah the thought of it. It makes me wonder what Nepgear must make of all this. We listen to a frustrated Neptune moan on and on about how her younger sister isn't there.
"….I guess I'll have to get Plutia to do some Sadies to you. While she'll happily give them to you, I don't think she'll be happy to find that you have been slacking off. Speaking of which where is she? Gah you can't get the staff these days can you…" She moans some more.
Eventually after hearing her annoying moaning we reach her office, but the door outside is locked. This proves to be no problem as we just shoot the door open then barge in.
We enter the room only to find her sat by an old chipped desk. She tries to shoot us with her pistol but we shoot the gun off her hand, hurting her hand rather badly as she groans in pain.
"Why do you always have to spoil my fun Noire?" The witch grumbles in pain.
"It's probably the same reason as why you always have to be so cruel and negligent?
I mean there have been countless complaints regarding you and your business, complaints of poor hygiene, poor quality of service, poor quality of food to name a few. On our way through the corridors, you have rooms and rooms full of smelly rotten food that must have been there for weeks. That very food has attracted rats, insects, maggots and leaves a rotting foul smell. I've even heard complaints that that very food has been served in your cooking, which has caused numerous food poisoning incidents and even caused the spread of some diseases, not least of the food tasting rather disgusting or worse. I've even had reports of food being uncooked and not even being removed from its packaging.
Have you ever been and seen what it's like in the kitchen? There are hazards everywhere, and there's not much room in there either. The equipment has never been cleaned, the pots and cutlery are never washed and you serve that very cutlery and pots to the customers? The place isn't even safe to work in as it's full of spilt oil, that's a great big fire hazard. You don't even have any fire escapes and what exit you have is blocked by cardboard. There are exposed wires all over the place especially on the floor, which connect to a socket that has far too many plugs attached to it. There are sharp rusty knifes on the edge of the work tops, as well as cupboards that don't shut. You don't even have a smoke alarm, and it's a wonder that this death trap of a kitchen hasn't burned down.
What about how you have hired my good friend Black here as a night guard and guess what? He had to watch the animatronics that were capable of killing him, by forcing him into an exoskeleton suit. Where they would be full of wires, crossbeams, apparatus and other important pieces, especially at the face. There's no way he'd be able to stay alive in there. Worse the only part of him that would be seen again would be his teeth and eyes. Really? What kind of company would force their employees to work in an environment, where they have to watch animatronics that could potentially kill them? And how do you expect to defend themselves from those monsters? Oh sure you have electromagnetic doors but how come there isn't enough power to keep them on for the entire shift? That's another thing they don't have much power and even less as each day passes in the week, the hell? Why do you not get some expert to come in and reprogram them or something like that. Do you not think that the deaths that have occurred from the animatronics attacking and biting people, are enough to cause concern and for you to do something about it?
It's no wonder you don't have any workers working here not least because of how little you pay them, and you was lucky to have Black appear in your nightmare of yours as well as relying on Nepgear to do everything around here. Especially waking you up and feeding you breakfast. I don't blame her at all for not turning up for weeks.
I'd actually consider this dump of yours to be the worst place to work in ever. You do nothing as the owner of this hell hole, and all you do is sit on your arse and just eat puddings all day. You're not even gaining any money, you're losing money as well as customers who used to come here. I actually have full authority to close you down as well as to place you in jail, as you are guilty of gross negligence and cruelty at your workplace. As well as for not abiding by the health and safety regulations." Noire speaks with passion during her speech of explaining what was wrong.
While all of what Noire did say confirmed what I thought of this place, it still horrified me to hear it. But at least it pleases me to see the look on Neptune's face as she looks in horror, not least it going over her head. I must admit it is amusing to see her squirm as Noire does her job professionally. As she proves to Neptune, just how terrible she is at running the place. After Noire has finished Neptune looks terrified as she struggles to speak.
"Bu…but…but please I couldn't aff..afford to pay to fix all the problems." The purple haired joke pleads as she begs for mercy.
"Really? Now why do you I think I don't believe that? Hmmm? Is it because of how I've found in your account a substantial amount of money, that's supplied by your friend Gust who provides it you by means of stolen money, which she money launders that very cash first? I've also found that you used the money to purchase torture equipment for Plutia, as well as a lifetime supply of puddings for yourself. You know what you're coming with us right now, and make that another offence that you've committed." Noire speaks firmly.
We then approach her, only to then grab her while she's kicking and screaming. I find this amusing to see Neptune in this state as now she'll be arrested, and she'll be punished for all of her sins. I find it ironic that is happening in one of my nightmares.
But that's all I see before I wake up along with the rest of our troops. I look to see the sun starting to rise, brightening up the area we're in. It's time for the next phase of our plan: the actual liberation of Pallet Town itself. I decide to rally the troops before our attack can begin.
"OK everyone, this is it. Our first attack in Lowee which should hopefully lead to the liberation of Pallet Town, the closest town to Lastation that's in Lowee.
Paula will attempt to bluff her way through the gates, where she'll keep them open for us. When the gates are open we charge in. It'll be close quarters fighting so expect heavy resistance, as they have plenty of troops in the area. They'll also be trying to call in reinforcements from Viridian City. Apart from the guards in the towers we are on our own for now. We need to make this count, good luck everyone. I just need to see if we have our surveillance online before we can attack." I speak with passion in an attempt to keep their spirits up.
It is then I attempt to speak to Uni by mind talk, to see if she's awake and watching us via satellite.
"Uni, this is Black we're about to commence Operation Flash: our liberation of Pallet Town." I speak to her.
"Excellent Black, OK I'll keep you informed of any enemy movement as well as possible attacks from the sea to the south, and from Route 1 to the north. But be advised as I'd say you're heavily outnumbered by at least 3 to 1 from those in Pallet Town alone. Good luck guys." Uni informs us.
It's good to know that she has woken up early for this just like we have. The 3 to 1 does concern quite a bit as although we have perk a colas on our side, we could be overwhelmed by enemy reinforcements. I can just predict that we'll face massive numbers and maybe we'll be forced to fight on two fronts, which isn't ideal. None the less we have to do this.
"OK we're given the green light. Let's do this!" I order them.
With this said White then heads for the gate not too far away from here, she walks casually towards it hoping she can get their attention. Fortunately the gate opens and White enters to talk to some of the Team Rocket grunts there. With the gates open we quickly charge towards it, and with the person at the tower spotting us, he opens fire on the enemy troops that guard the gate. I see White trying to take cover in a nearby guard hut that's next to the gate. It's quite chaotic as I see a group of them trying to engage our sniper but they're not in a good position to hit him.
Amazingly they don't spot us so we're able to take out a group of them, including one of them who tried to climb the tower on a ladder.
"Be advised about a hundred of them are approaching the gate and there are a dozen trucks that are en route from Viridian City as reinforcements. Unfortunately 3 of our guards in the towers are now dead, except for the one closest to your position." Uni informs me via mind talk.
I thank via mind talk before ordering my troops to hold position. By now we're pretty close to the outside of the gate, so we just crouch outside and wait for them to come to us.
My tactic worked well as they didn't come all at once and they basically rush into our line of fire, we kill them before they could properly fire back, although unfortunately they fire a few shots wounding our troops. With this said we manage to kill the ones approaching the gate, but while we were able to pull off a successful ambush, something tells me that our next fire fight won't be so easy.
"Be advised the trucks from Route 1 have now arrived, and with them dozens of troops have reinforced their position. They've taken positions that overlook the gate by the buildings. There's at least 100 of them and a few of their positions are inside the buildings. There's also another 100 hidden behind the buildings ready to ambush you guys." Uni informs me via mind talk.
"OK Thanks Uni." I reply via mind talk.
This concerns me as they're waiting for us to come to them and due to the numbers, I can just predict losing a good portion of our men to their attack. It's just unfortunate that our disguises mean we don't have the armour to protect our troops from enemy fire. At least I can be thankful that I can revive the dead afterwards, and wait for supplies to give them the advantages but, it's best not to use them again here.
"OK guys they've surrounded the main gate and are at the buildings waiting for us. There are dozens of them as well as more that hide behind them. We will charge in, then kill any of them that we can see. Let's do this." I whisper to them.
We rush out of the gate along with White and as soon as we see the enemy troops, we shoot them as soon as we can see them. Thing is they do the same to us and just as I feared I notice a good number of our troops getting shot.
It doesn't stop us as we shoot grunt after grunt, that exposes themselves in an attempt to shoot us. It doesn't help that they have us surrounded, but at least we have ourselves back to back covering each other's rear.
I find the firefight to have become rather old fashioned, where musket men take it in turns to shoot each other as they stand in a line, it's not ideal but what choice do we have? We need to neutralise the enemy first before we can obtain a better position.
As the fire fight goes on and as I manage to kill enemies quickly, like targets that pop up one after another, I notice more and more casualties on my side. Eventually after what feels like forever I find that the enemy lines that have formed by the buildings have been broken, and now it seems that it is just the remainder of them that use the buildings for cover. It does please me to find that any of them that do pop out get shot, before they have the chance to reload as they don't shoot from behind cover.
Upon realising there's only a few of them outside the buildings, I decide to perform an ambush of my own.
"OK guys their lines have now been broken, I want 10 of you to come with me. The rest of you continue to engage the enemy." I order my troops.
Upon looking at my troops I realise that just under half of our original forces are alive right now, and over half of those alive are injured with no means to heal them unfortunately. But at least the majority of them are in the buildings now, it's just a matter of capturing the buildings before Pallet Town is finally under our control.
"Be advised there are about a hundred troops boarding some trucks that are preparing to attack from Viridian City. I have also spotted a few hundred more troops from the forests to the north west of Pallet Town. Fortunately they're moving slowly by foot." Uni informs me via mind talk sounding rather concerned.
"Are you able to provide any reinforcements?" I ask her.
"Unfortunately while I can provide plenty of supplies for you, I can only provide 20 troops." Uni speaks sounding quite glum with her answer.
"Don't worry, it's not your fault. I mean it's better than nothing. OK have them dropped in the forest on the outskirts of Pallet Town to the West, then instruct them to ambush the enemy troops that are advancing from the north. They'll probably lose but hopefully they can stall them, maybe even bleed them." I command.
"Very good idea Black, good luck. Pallet Town should be ours soon." Uni responds.
While I'm sure it will happen, I have concerns that we're going to be dealing with attacks from the north and now the west as well as perhaps the south. It really dawns upon me that there are too many of their troops incoming. But luckily I have a strategy.
"Paula I want you and about 2 dozen troops to go to Route 1, and ambush the enemy trucks as best you can." I order.
White gives me a salute before heading off to Route 1. I hope they'll be alright but I just realise that they'll be outnumbered by 5 to 1, so I guess all they can do is to hold them off for a short while.
After which I then command my 10 troops to follow me as we go around the back of a building. This particular building happens to be some red house with two stories, that are made of bricks and consists of two windows on each side, and on each side of the floor. When we reach the back of the red house, we ambush the remaining enemy troops that were there, as well as the ones at the back of another building further down from where we are.
OK now it's just the simple matter of capturing the red house. I spread what few troops I have in my group around the windows to one side of the house. I look through the window to see just one room.
In the room is a table surrounded by a few chairs, as well as what appears to be an open plan kitchen that surrounds it, only it's basic as it consists of a cooker, a few cupboards, a washing machine, an old TV and a sink. Though all of it is in red it doesn't appear to be of high quality, and it appears to be pretty old.
I can only assume this house to be Red's house from Pokémon, and I remember how it only had two floors and one room on each floor. At least this place has a kitchen, but none the less it still doesn't look like much. Though I guess it's humble beginnings and it makes me wonder if anyone famous did once live in this house, considering this universe isn't the Pokémon one despite Pokémon existing here. In any case I wouldn't be surprised if it's down to the Team Rocket take over, and I can only hope that the original residents are safe, though somehow I doubt it.
What I also notice in the room is the amount of people in this room, there's about a couple of dozen of them. Though they're all armed with pistols and they're taking cover beneath the windows facing outwards.
None of them spot me so I order my squad to ambush them. As soon as we fire, the other squad on the other side engages too.
Although a few members of our squad get shot in the process, and one of them even dying by them we manage to wipe them out because of how we have them trapped in a pincer movement, as well as how their health is so low that just one shot from our pistols is enough to kill them.
"OK the ground floor of the red house is clear. Be advised you've got a couple more dozen of them upstairs and there's one waiting behind the door ready to ambush you." Uni informs me.
I thank Uni for the information and with this said I order both squads into the ground floor. We smash through the glass before climbing in through the windows entering the ground floor. Next to the open plan kitchen I find a door and switch my magnetic vision on, only to find one of their troops behind it carrying an Arisaka with a bayonet, confirming what Uni said.
To counter this I switch to my double barrel shot gun and fire at the door. The blast was powerful enough to blow a large hole in the door, as well as knocking the man behind it over causing him to splat all over the wall before falling over.
After which I suddenly hear the sound of someone charging down the steps pretty quickly, my vision confirms two guys armed with the same weapons rushing down the stairs at quite the speed. Before I do anything else I quickly open the door only to fire at the charging grunts. One shot was all it took to knock them over on their back, only for their bodies to slide down the stairs. I quickly reload my gun before any more of them come out, but it's not soon after I reloaded that 2 more of them with the same weaponry come out, though instead of charging down the stairs they stand at the top, trying to shoot me but luckily my shot gun had enough range to take them down.
I reload my gun again before switching to my pistol, though this time I find that no more of them come down. I come to the realisation that they probably intend to ambush us. I wouldn't be surprised if they may have a few aces up their sleeves. This concerns me as we're outnumbered and I wouldn't be surprised if White's squad is all but wiped out from engaging the enemy reinforcements. At this rate I'm unsure if we can capture Red house let alone all of Pallet Town, this concerns me deeply. But nonetheless as you readers know me, I always refuse to give in.
I lead my troops up the stairs only to find that they lead to a closed door on the left hand side. Using my magnetic vision I notice through the door are 3 troops standing guard in the room. The middle one has what I believe to be a Type 99 Light machine gun that appears to be mounted on a fairly tall pole, while the left one and right one have Arisaka's, all 3 of them are aiming their weapons at the door.
Past them I see at least a dozen more of them hugging the walls of this room, ready to ambush us should we enter.
I would like to have shot the door with my shotgun like with downstairs, but they're too far away. I guess there's nothing for it but to breach the door, even if it means that I may end up losing a couple of troops in this part of the fire fight.
With this in mind I order a few of my troops to stand behind the door, as well as to pick a target while I breach the door and provide cover.
On the count of 3 I then kick the door open before hiding next to it. What follows is various gun shots being fired by my troops and the threesome in there. After a few shots were fired I then find that all 3 of my own troops have died, but I then look with magnetic vision to find that so have the threesome. I find that rather baffling to find how all of them died, I didn't think they could all die like that. But I have no time to think about that as I order a couple more of my troops by the door, to ensure that machine gun doesn't get operated again.
I then look to see about a dozen of them come charging in by where the threesome once stood, and it is then another fire fight ensues. Although I do my best providing my two troops with cover fire from the door, and though they do their best in killing the enemy they eventually die from multiple gun shots, the surviving members then come charging through the door, but all they can manage is to wound one of our troops before being shot down by us.
After that fire fight I look to see that I only have 4 soldiers left from the 100 we had at the beginning to capture Pallet Town, and we've yet to capture a single building here. It makes me wonder how White is faring. Never the less I use my magnetic vision to look through, to see at one corner that overlooks the entrance to this room is a squad of them. Something tells me they're not the average grunts. One of them who I can only assume to be the leader carries 2 double barrel shot guns, one in each hand.
With the little choices I have, I order my group to charge inside the room while keeping our eye out for the enemy squad. We walk slowly before we're able to fire. It's not long before we're able to engage the enemy but I find this really stressing, as my soldiers die along with theirs. Eventually there's only the shotgun person left, and I can assume this man to be a boss who's personally in charge of Red House.
By this point he drops his sawn offs as he knows that it will take too long to reload them both, but now he has in his hands a Nambu Pistol with an extended clip.
I decide to switch to my own sawn off and it is then we both shoot at each other constantly. Due to the fact that I have taken more bullets than my allies whom he has killed, he must know I'm someone special but this does not deter him as we just shoot at each other, then reload and then shoot some more. I remember how I have massive health as well as quicker reloading than him, so it's probably more likely that I'll win in this duel of ours.
Eventually after 5 reloads from my sawn off as well as 9 shots fired from it in total, the boss is now dead and Red House is now taken. But at such a magnificent cost as it's just me alive here as far as I know. I wonder how White is. I'm starting to worry that our plans to liberate Lowee could have ended before it has even begun. It makes me wonder if I can take the rest of Pallet Town at this rate. This concerns me greatly. Despite having plenty of health I'm worried that they could potentially become suspicious, over my skills as a soldier and the health I have. Although I'm disguised as a boss they're going to wonder about a boss going rogue. I'm just worried that they might smell an attack from Lastation, which is something me and White are keen to avoid. But I really do feel pressure as right now it just seems to be me, against a still fairly large enemy garrison that commandeers another house of this size, and an even larger building.
