Chapter 143: Actions speak louder than words

Note: Readers please listen to Hitman 2 Fast Ambience while reading this:

"Hello there, nice to see you guys after what happened here. It's been such a tough fight here, being the only survivor here and all, though I have managed to wipe out all the Britannians here, including the trio of Lastation, Lord Black Lead, Lady Black Heart and Lady Black Sister." I report to the enemy soldiers who have just arrived in a friendly tone in their language, concealing my nerves as to whether this and my disguise can fool them.

"That's good; it means we can deal with the statues now. Saying this though, considering how this will be easy to do with our courage, honour and numbers, why are you not already there? Surely you must have other orders to carry out after vanquishing the Britannians here." One of the soldiers snaps at me, with much suspicion and aggression.

I figured this would happen, them having doubts of my story especially since how often is it for a soldier to greet another group of soldiers like this, but then again why would it not just be me there on my own after an intense fire fight? I have prepared for a response to them, and can only hope that this will be enough to convince them.

"I was given orders to stay and guard this building, and was about to head to the top of the stairs to guard the junction in case the Britannians attack it again." I respond as calmly as I could and as confident as I could, despite increasingly becoming concerned about whether these enemy soldiers will buy what I'm saying.

"Yet why do you look Britainnian, you may dress like a Gear' soldier and sound like one of us but your face says Britainnian." The same soldier speaks to me with more suspicion and aggression.

I also figured this would happen, having to explain away my skin colour and facial appearance, but still, I am confident that this can be explained away.

"This is because I was a Britainnian, but I've joined the Gear's cause earlier. I have seen the light, and I wish to repent and join the side of honour and righteousness, and to bring much good to this place, and justice to all those who have done severe wrong." I say to them with as much enthusiasm and passion as I could, but unsure if they'll buy it as I try to gauge the enemy soldier's body language.

"Hmmmm. You sound keen to fight for us and if what you say is true, then you've done very well in defeating them. But I insist that you step aside, and let us see for ourselves the carnage that has occurred." The soldier says still maintaining his tone of suspicion though reducing his aggression towards me.

This does not bode well, for when they enter they won't see dead Britannians but living ones armed, and it'll be a blood bath. While my troops can attempt to play dead they could potentially make too much noise and where are the bullet holes to prove their deaths? I need to think of something but what. Interestingly enough, one of the other Gear's soldiers then says something.

"Sir, while I too share my suspicions, we are needed at those statues as the Britannians know that they need to protect them at all costs. Why don't I and several others check the bodies in there, while the rest of you go on ahead?" The other soldier proposes in a tone that suggests he means well.

This is most interesting, he said what I was just about to say, and while I may not have convinced them to leave, it ends up being that most of them will leave anyway. Well that's lucky and I don't really like the fact that luck has saved me rather than my skills, but then what difference does that make, since I am trying to work out how to eliminate the enemy troops without alerting the rest of them? Hopefully by doing a stealth kill but how to let my allies know to do one, I can only hope that with a few subtle signals from myself that are not detectable by the enemy, that my highly trained allies will know what to do.

I only hope that even if the stealth assassinations were pulled off, that the enemy that are heading for the statues don't hear this happen, or eventually suspect foul play, but we can only do our best in this regard, given the lack of choices that we have.

I therefore happily tell them by my body language to come in, and a small number of enemies come in while I see the rest of them, in which there's loads of them head off to attack the Britainnian statues.

I take a quick look back to see the Britainnian soldiers playing dead and the lack of bullet wounds aside, doing a convincing job in this regard. I don't look at those to the side of the door as that could arouse suspicion, though I am confident that they have in their hands knives ready to kill the unsuspected enemy soldiers as quietly and quickly as possible.

I head inside leading the enemy troops, my body language trying to assure the enemy that I'm telling the truth. I then look to see if they're satisfied only to see that the enemy soldiers have had their mouths covered quickly, while a knife is stabbed into their throat, killing them quietly and without effort.

I am confident that the enemy didn't hear this considering how noiseless the killings were, nevertheless we need to wait before they've left this area, before we can do our next move, as we share facial expressions of relief and joy to have got out of this one.

Considering what has happened though, I am unsure if I can convince the enemy troops upstairs to leave their post, so that we can reduce their numbers, and eventually take the area overlooking the junction. Annoyingly even if the upper area can be taken, our troops are limited, and at best perhaps we can take out the enemy snipers outside the parliament building, but no doubt they'll send troops out to reclaim it which won't be hard for them.

Yet again I find myself having to retreat from the area, it is like a battle where every attempt to capture a position has been thwarted by the enemy. I hope that this is the last time, as I do have a plan in mind to counter this.

If we are to ultimately secure the entrance so that we can attack the enemy inside parliament, we need to take the upper area of this building overlooking the junction, so that we have the advantage of height over the enemies, and we also need to defend it from the enemy. The thing is we need the manpower to do this, and while we have loads of troops nearby, they are all needed to protect the statues, and so if we can secure one section of statues, then we can get a significant number of allied troops to take the vital position upstairs. With this we can secure the entrance for good, and finally put an end to this long stalemate, in which their tricks and their troops appears limitless.

With any luck, we can take the Gears troops pursuing our allies by their flank in which it won't be covered, and we can bleed them there, easing the pressure of our allies, and finally be able to take out the rest of them, and ultimately be able to secure the statues. While we'll be vastly outnumbered, just distracting them, can hopefully be enough against them.

I then inform via radio to our allies of more enemies coming for the statues, and our intention to retreat and assist in this endeavour, and that all but one of us will retreat back and attack the enemy in their rear, while the remaining Britainnian will keep look out and inform us of the situation of the building, hoping that they won't reinforce it, and make capturing our desired vantage point such a costly and challenging pursuit.

As we head out, my mind races frantically as to how much time there is remaining before Neptune wins, how are our troops faring against the enemy, and how best to bleed the enemy troops, and along with this what further challenges will there be considering what we've already seen?

Well we've done well so far, and all we can do is to just keep going and face each situation as it comes to the best of our ability.

With us running as quickly as we can despite being exhausted and suffering with some aches and pains, we see the enemy attacking our Britainnian allies by a large amount of statues. Worse still they appear to have pushed our Britainnian allies back, and the statues are effectively in their hands, and there's dozens of them there, along with a significant portion of them being heavily armoured elite troops.

There appears to be too many of them, and they can just use their superior numbers to track us down and kill us, and while we have to provide a distraction, we cannot afford to be killed by them either.

There has got to be a way of taking the heat off, but how? Think Black think. I look at the surrounding areas for any ideas, and it is then that we're still in a street with buildings on either side and that while in the buildings close to parliament they were full of Gear troops, it doesn't appear to be so here. Perhaps we can garrison in the buildings and via the upper floors take out the enemy there, but that is if we can enter the building undetected.

Yet how can this be done though? Considering we have no lock picks, and there's no one we know who can allow us access to these buildings, the only way would be to smash the glass but we would be heard if we are to break it. Unless…

I soon get a brainwave, and the first thing to do is to take some cover behind cars and hope that we don't get spotted. Next is to get the Britannians to shoot at the glass, but in a way to make it look like by accident and that their aim has been reduced to compensate from firing from cover due to the amount of enemies there. Of course to reduce suspicion it would be ideal for them to do it for a short period of time. Next would be that we enter the building, get to the upper floor and from the windows rain fire against them, and this should confuse the enemy and even if they were to survive, we can still attack them from above and hopefully kill them before they can get upstairs.

Yes, I have confidence that we can get through this now, and I am optimistic that while there'll be plenty of enemy troops still in parliament, there's no way they can stop us anymore from eventually closing in and defeating Neptune for good. I quickly realise though that we need to focus and cannot afford to slip up, and so I quietly with my radio request the Britannians to casually via shooting from cover, to destroy the glass in the building so that we can enter it quietly.

The Britannians are more than happy to oblige and they are successful in this request, but then I worry that since this will be the first time they have done something like this, will the Gear soldiers get suspicious, and with this all hinging on them not knowing, I begin to grow concerned that we could end up alerting them of our presence.

At least they don't appear to suspect anything just yet, but can I be sure that they won't until it's too late, as the Britannians do this for a while to hopefully reduce suspicion.

Now I feel, is the next stage of my plan, the most crucial, to sneak into the building, without them smelling a rat. Under immense cover fire from our allied soldiers from the other side, we make a break for it as quietly as we can to the building in which the glass windows have been destroyed from the noisy gunfire.

Despite the sound of Britainnian guns, but no Gear guns, and the sight of my squad being in one piece reassuring me, I am still concerned about our enemy attacking us. No doubt this is because of the luck that I have experienced, and the dread of it repeating itself. Strangely enough though, we make it to the building.

Note: Readers please listen to Call of Duty (2003) OST Dark while reading this:

The interior is like that of the other building where we have fought in for many chapters, distinct signs of it being Britainnian and grand, but that has been removed bare. The Gears soldiers have been here to trash this place that's for sure, at least there isn't any in this room we have entered which is very large, but who's to say there isn't any nearby or upstairs?

Nuts, I should have figured that it's not going to be easy, but then again it's for the best because they could have easily have not trashed this place to make it look like they've never been here, when in reality they have, and can pounce on unsuspecting people such as us.

While ideally I need to scan this whole building, room by room to ensure it's free of enemy soldiers, this will take time especially if we have to clear them out, time that we are running out of. Then there's the concern that this place has got just as many enemy troops if not more in here, compared to the other building.

With this said why would there be, considering the fact that surely they would have ambushed the Britannians as they made closer to parliament, and surely all the enemy troops would be either guarding parliament or be part of the offensive and securing the statues. Why would they be here in massive numbers? How can they possibly know that we'd be here? I don't know but what I do know is that since being in this nightmare and fighting off these enemy troops, I've always had the experience of fighting these enemies, and it being hard, and for a moment when I thought it would go my way, bam suddenly it isn't.

Suddenly however, I have an idea, and that being that rather than finding them and being ambushed by them, why not get them to come to us and we ambush them? I speak their language and can perhaps call them and communicate with them, after all its only my appearance that the last group had issue with, not my accent.

But then what if they suspect a trap, especially since who in a middle of a conflict would yell looking for their allies, they may have a specific thing that's needed to be said to determine whether they're friend or foe.

Then again, what choice do I have? I could get ambushed anyway, and there is a battle going on outside so for them it could be legitimate.

"Hello, we need help. Is there anybody here? The Britainnians are pushing us back hard and we need reinforcements." I call out sounding deeply concerned hoping that someone will hear me.

There is no reply, but that doesn't mean that there is no one here, they could be either waiting for us or debating among themselves about what to do. Nevertheless, I keep my weapon close by along with my allies as we peek around looking for any enemies, finding that the layout is very much like the other building.

I quickly get on the radio to inform the Britannians of potential ambushes coming from the building we're in, along with enemy soldiers trying to enter where we are before we continue our hunt for any enemies here, in hopes that this will help. After this we head for the nearest stairs and it is then that I see a lone ninja who was no doubt attempting to creep up on us and take us out one by one, we mow him down before he can do any damage towards us.

Hmmm… a lone ninja? I would have expected more than that, could it really be that there just isn't that many enemies here, no, why it would be considering all I have faced earlier, or perhaps maybe they've already fought the Britannians and died or are somewhere else. In any case this is further away from parliament and considering their objective why would there be that many troops here?

Nevertheless, I cannot let my guard down, and while we must be thorough in our search for any enemy soldiers, we need to do this as quickly as we can so that we can secure the vantage point and assist our fellow Britannians. My gut tells me that they merely sent a lone ninja to determine whether it's a trap or not, and perhaps from hearing our gun fire, they know approximately where we are. They must be near the stairs since it's a good place to ambush considering how stairs act as choke points.

We approach the bottom of the stairs, and we decide to have a few go up it, while the rest of us stay down here and wait for any enemy soldiers to attempt to ambush us, be it from the stairs or from outside. Well I say this, but given our number and position, we are quite vulnerable from the enemy outside, if we can just deal with these enemies and take a vantage point overlooking the street, then we can at last have many Britannians directly fighting with us again, and not have to be distracted by the enemy.

As if on cue, and just as I predicted, those Britannians on the stairs got halfway when suddenly, an ambush occurred, consisting of a handful of archers overlooking the stairs, and what must be a ninja, a couple of samurai and a handful of spearmen on the top of the stairs.

The Britannians on the stairs then quickly run down the stairs, while some of us down at the bottom go for the archers, and the remaining one go for the ninja managing in the process to shoot his throwing star, before being able to throw it and kill one of our allies. After they're dispatched, we then with ease take out the remaining enemies on the stairs before reloading our guns and then doing the same as before, having a few of us go up the stairs while we wait for ambushes.

Other than that ambush there was nothing, which I find baffling, and the enemy from outside have not reached us yet. Maybe there's more upstairs, but then as we walk along the corridor upstairs and clear each room, apart from those overlooking the street in which there's just a few and we've cleared out with minimum difficulty, there's absolutely nothing. In contrast to what's happened before, this is all too easy. Maybe it's the calm before the storm, and we could be in for the fight of our lives again pretty soon.

We quickly take position overlooking the street, and have an excellent view of the enemy soldiers who are in battle with the Britannians right now. We waste no time in mowing as many of them down as possible, and it pleases me that we manage to get a significant number of them down, perhaps the momentum is finally on our side after all, and it's nothing but easy wins for us from here on out. In fact, while the enemy tries to return fire, we just manage to fire from cover, and from where we are, they are completely exposed to us.

Their numbers are dwindling significantly, and I would have expected them to retreat at this point or just do a desperate rush at the Britannians and try to take out as many as possible, but then I get told that there are several troops who have entered the building we are currently in, and what's more is that there are troops who appear to be bullet proof, and the Britannians outside are forced to retreat or else face dwindling numbers themselves. Not only this, but there are a significant number of them standing outside, so jumping out the window and pursuing the batch that are after the Britannians is not an option.

This must be the storm, to have troops that while few in number are very difficult to kill, and yet very easy to be killed by. They remind me of juggernauts from the call of duty series. The annoying thing about them is that at best they will delay us a lot to the point where Neptune could end up succeeding, and at worst, they could kill our allies meaning we'll have to go further into finding allies, rescue them and be able to secure the statues.

They need to be taken out, and taken out quickly, but how, when they're heavily armoured and we don't outnumber them that much? One advantage that we do have though, and that is speed and if we can ambush them, and focus fire on one at a time, we should be able to kill one and retreat and be able to do this, and eventually take them all down.

In fact we can coordinate our attacks via radio, and set up our forces at the stairs in which they're the only means of accessing upstairs, and we can attack them from behind and before they're able to turn around, we'll have taken out one of them or at least have done massive damage against them.

I give the troops a pep talk about being careful with these enemies, and to only attack when there's the window of opportunity and then to retreat. While I realise that there's only so many places we can retreat to, and that there is the concern of being caught in a pincer, where it's certain death, I cannot let that get to me, and we have to be optimistic that we can finish them off before that happens. Plus which, there is also the fact that when we arrived in this building we are closer to one set of stairs than another, and this means a delay between each group attempting to go up the stairs, so perhaps we can eliminate one group before dealing with the other. At least I hope it's the case.

As we wait for the enemy to come, I can't help but feel that my allies in my group as do I, are concerned and frustrated with how long it's taking for them to come up so that we can ambush them. It's a shame that there's no way of knowing how much longer it will be for them to come up without going down there, and risking them killing me or my allies.

I sigh as they know that this is to eat up our time in stopping Neptune, perhaps they know that we know that this is one of their last cards to play and after this, it's a case of defending the parliament building, to the last soldier with whatever they have left. If only I knew how much time there is left, but then again maybe it's for the best that we didn't know, and just keep doing our best regardless especially since it's got us this far.

It is then that I hear the distinctive thuds, the sound of them coming up the stairs, and so we quietly aim our weapons and wait for them to be within shot of our guns. As soon as they do, we open fire on them firing all our bullets in the clip, though before we knew it, we were out of bullets, and had to quickly retreat and reload before they returned fire.

I think one more blasting like that, and it should kill one of the two, but my concern is that when will we get such an opportunity, considering that we'll have to hide in rooms and ambush them if we can, though my concern is that they'll methodically check each room and won't give us a chance to attack from behind, or at least not many chances and no doubt they won't be enough to be able to kill them. I have to think fast since there'll be more and more of them coming, attempting to defeat us.

Somehow though, my gut is telling that we may in fact be able to defeat these 2, and be able to assist our allies on the other side and deal with their armoured enemies. I say this because I can get one before they have to turn, and as they enter the first room, from the second room we can attack, and then finish them off as they try and find us, and then we can deal with the other group.

So far so good, as just as I was after, I see one of the enemies reaching the top of the stairs, in which I fire as many bullets as I can at them, and this in fact takes the soldier out. One down, one to go, and while we have to wait it's only for a bit, as then when the next one of those enemies come, I fire my magazine at the enemy before retreating and reloading, and find some place to hide in the room, hoping that my allies can take out the enemy samurai guard in time.

While I was at first confident, it is getting tense as I know that the enemy soldier will be after me after what I've done to them, and I just hope that my allies can get to me in time and kill him before he kills me, since if it was just me on my own, I wouldn't stand a chance against him, as I hear the distinctive footsteps of him coming nearer and nearer to me. At least it's not long afterwards before I then hear the sound of gunfire from Britainnian weapons, but then I wonder if with him being relatively bullet proof, will he still carry on in his pursuit of me, as while we have plenty of bullets and a good number of people attacking him at once, it will take some time.

In fact despite the risks I end up spraying and praying from cover in hopes I can contribute to the enemy samurai's demise. The thing is, the sound of bullets being fired from Britainnian guns can no longer be heard, but then I hear the reassuring sound of a loud thud, and my eyes confirm the samurai's demise.

I find myself breathing heavy, breathing with much relief due to the possibility of him getting me, despite this being my plan to lure him to me so that my allies can finish him off. I have no time for doing this though, as our allies to the other side of this building will need all the help they can get, especially since they'll be facing more of them than what we've just faced.

Due to the power of their weapons, two of us, myself included, then pick up these weapons of theirs in which they're Type 99s, before heading out to where our allies are in hopes that our plans not just work but work better, since time is of the very essence.

I see our allies up ahead, but I also hear them engaging the enemy, and so we are forced to hide in nearby rooms and wait for them to reach the top of the stairs, so we can strike before they turn and are able to fight back. What an annoying tragic shame that we couldn't reach our allies in time, especially since we could have done significant damage, but we cannot fret about that now. All we can do is to just engage the enemy when appropriate, and hope that this will be enough to take out the 3 enemies who intend our doom.

It's not long before instead of hearing the sound of Britainnian gunfire, I then hear the sound of the Britainnian soldiers rushing back to the rooms we're at, as my adrenaline pumps knowing that we'll need to make every bullet count and that we need to be quick about this, especially since no doubt there'll be more of them coming.

Somehow, I sense that my allies including Noire and Uni who's in the same room as me, feels the same way that I do, concerned about them and yet determined not to give in and to do our best to take them down.

One of our allies fire, and so we then all do the same, and it isn't long before we hear a distinctive thud and with that, we stop firing our weapons and reload before firing again at the next samurai to come, but then we run out of bullets and we have to reload again, and what's more is that the enemy resorts to shooting at the walls forcing us to retreat away or else being killed as a result of bullet penetration.

Hmmm I hope no one died from that, especially since we're rather limited in number, while the enemy who I fear are consisting of more of these samurai warriors coming in are more numerous. Well at least I may get the answer to that concern soon enough, and at any rate, they've stopped firing and have fired a significant amount of bullets, which surely must have been their entire magazine. I then order to fire back while they're reloading but to do so from cover, in hopes that we can take one of them down and wound another. That way, after reloading we can take out the enemy from behind, and not have to deal with two at once who'll have got each other's backs. While this does appear to resort in taking out one of them, I have no idea of the health of the surviving enemy, and this can make a difference since with significant numbers of us being in the rooms closest to the stairs and their methods, a portion of our limited forces are sure to die.

We can hear the footsteps getting closer to us and we just need to work out where they're going, so we can react to it. The thing is, these footsteps are actually getting closer to the three of us, to the point where the enemy is trying to barge through the door.

This is quite concerning, that we could all die and therefore completely fail the mission, after making it so far. We look at each other and while there is determination, there is also concern of that prospect of dying and failing, before we turn to the door, with guns in our hands aiming at it. We can only hope that they can react in time, as he then busts through the doors and we open fire at him, for as long as we can from our hiding place before having to reload.

Looks like we'll have to accept our demise, since we are no longer in a position to fight back, as by the time we've reloaded he'll have turned in our direction and be opening fire against us.

Suddenly… allies of ours fire bullets at the enemy, but is this enough? As while he appears able to take them, he is flinching a fair amount as the bullets are relentless, as he tries to turn and face our direction. It is hard to watch as we just focus on reloading our weapons as quickly as we can, even if it feels like eternal. Oddly enough, we manage to reload our weapons and we then look and aim only to find the enemy dead, which brings such relief to us, and in fact I get the feeling he's already been dead some time before and that we were too engrossed to notice.

This relief though is to be short lived, as we are informed by our allies outside the room that there are enemy samurai coming up the stairs nearest to us, and with this information, I get the feeling that the same is happening on the other flight of stairs. They're attempting to catch us in a pincer movement, and escaping through the window is not an option due to there being a group of them waiting for us down there.

It looks like we'll have to take out the barrier before they all come and surround us. We'll have to ambush the enemies on the stairs and hope that with our numbers, and half of us now carrying their light machine guns, we can punch through and then find out exactly where the enemies are, and plan accordingly. With any luck we can finally deal with the pursuers, and at last head back to the vantage point close to parliament and finally take it, and put pressure on the area at last, and hopefully, hopefully we are not too late. There has got to be light at the end of this tunnel, surely, surely.

We rush out to the landing and we see two enemy samurai guards going up the first section of the staircase and so we ambush them, and amazingly thanks to the sheer fire power that we now have, we manage to take them both down albeit barely, as as soon as they are dead we run out of bullets and have to reload. Still with how quick that was, we have much more time before we get pincered.

Note: Readers please listen to Medal of Honor Rising Sun Taiko Brigade OST while reading this:

Considering how there is a group of them heading upstairs, and finding a decent place to get them without being shot at in return will be difficult, I decide with unanimous agreement that we should take our chances down stairs, especially since the enemy shouldn't be that numerous and are spread out, meaning that perhaps we can take them out one by one, or if possible perhaps avoid them and instead go after the enemy samurai guards pursuing our allies, who would have been forced to retreat.

With this in mind, we go down the stairs as quickly but as cautiously as we can, checking to see if there are any enemies that are hiding and are eager to ambush us. There aren't any though, none what so ever, perhaps they must be outside waiting for us in case we took the windows upstairs.

The thing is, I find myself wondering how best to take them out considering that I'm unsure with regards to the number of them, where they are and where they're looking. We'll have to ambush them, and hopefully we can sneak through to the good spots undetected. I lead the group being as quiet and stealthy as possible, and look and check to see if it is the same lay out as in the other building, in which it is, though there aren't any boards between the doors, but hopefully if we go prone then they won't see us.

My plan is to split ourselves in two and for one of the groups to go to the other side, and at the same time, we ambush the enemy, retreat and then take out the remaining enemies as best as possible, all the while being weary of the remaining enemies upstairs.

I inform my allies quietly of the plan, and though the other group moves as quick as they can, it concerns me that time is running out not just for the enemies upstairs looking for us, or for our allies, but the time left in stopping Neptune and her dastardly plans, but there is no other choice. I need to think that this is their strategy to use whatever resources they can, to delay us for as long as possible, but they won't succeed because there's only so much that they can do, and we are overcoming it, their forces are getting weaker and weaker and their desperation increases more and more.

As my troops continue to crawl I begin to wonder whether the enemy from upstairs will come down, or whether the enemy from outside will enter inside, or even both. That does concern me deeply, because I have no idea of how far the enemy upstairs are in their search for us, and whether the enemy outside will decide to go inside. Yet so far, nothing.

There's something knawing at me, that something is up I feel like even after what we've just been through that it's been too easy. None of my squad has died in this chapter at least so far, the enemy are slowly but surely dying, and we have not been ambushed despite being in a relatively perilous position. I've seen the trend that we end up being lulled into a false sense of security, and then wham, we're in for a hell of a fight for our lives and for the fate of this nightmare.

Of course like with anything we can only deal with the situation when we come to it, and usually we can because the situation tells us the problem, and with a problem, a solution can be found.

After what felt like a long time, too long in fact, our allies are in position and on my go we open fire against two of the heavily armoured enemies killing them in the process. Then, knowing that the enemy will retaliate from such an ambush, we pull back to the big room opposite and moving away from the walls nearest the corridor, and going prone as they open fire relentless, before stopping to reload and then firing again before stopping this time for longer. In fact, there isn't any more firing from them.

I do however, hear their footsteps coming towards us, and with our guns reloaded, we fire from cover until we need to reload, and we feel ever so satisfied to hear two distinctive thuds from the enemy. Excellent, we are bleeding them significantly and there should only be one of them left, and then we can pursue the remaining group of them at last. Who knows maybe they've ran out of tricks after all.

While reloading we hear the thudding of enemy footsteps only they're quicker clearly showing desperation, we then daringly rush through the left and right door into the corridor and shoot the enemy in the side, and with the amount of us getting him at once, he's a goner, dying before he can even turn to face us due to how heavy and bulky his suit is.

We all share smiles and high fives of immense relief for being able to take out enemies of such quality and quantity without losing any more of us, and now we are free to deal with the samurai who are in pursuit of our allies and with their numbers being small and us having the element of surprise, we cannot fail.

Now it's only a matter of finding them and then killing them, and then with some of the many Britannians being with us, we can finally, ultimately apply pressure to the junction outside parliament at last. Finally, after all those battles and chapters, this conflict can be brought to an end soon and victory can ultimately be ours.

I rush to the corner of the room nearest to the street and to where the Britannians were forced to retreat, and peek out the window to find something quite peculiar: A formation of the remaining samurai guards crouched behind a line of cars with their guns pointed outwards guarding the statues.

Hmmmm, this is not as ideal since there's too many of them, and yet they've got the side they're facing really well covered. In fact after informing the Britannians who had to retreat via radio of our position and circumstances, they tell us that they're fairly far away from them, and don't feel able to attack due to risk of taking too many losses but with minimal gain.

I don't blame them at all, for unlike the Gear soldiers we value our lives, and there's so few soldiers available right now, for the rest are all fighting to secure the statues. Luring them will definitely be a challenge especially as I wonder if there are enough bullets to kill them all, after having spent a lot taking out these enemies who require at least 1 clip of rounds each from all of us. Then there is the risk of stray bullets penetrating the walls and killing us, but that is the least of our worries as right now, the enemies from upstairs are coming down stairs from both sides, in an attempt to surround us and kill us, and I need to think fast of places for us to hide to take them down, without losing any of our troops and do it quickly because time I fear is running out.
