Disclaimer: I do not own Hyperdimension Neptunia. I only own my OCs Matt and Ridley and some more OCs that will be stated in the future.

Matt felt extremely heavy. His body weighed like a suit of armor. Why and how, he didn't know. It just happened. What he did know though was that he felt some kind of relief. Not totally relief. Just some. Despite the soreness and aching, he felt a bit lighter inside, like a bit of the invisible burden was removed from his heart.

He didn't know how long he was on his knees. He could feel the pain in his knees, but he didn't care. He was just too focused on one thing: the sun. Although it had begun to set in the sky, it still waited to see him.

It was a friend. A friend that came to welcome him, even in his sorry state.

Matt reaches his hand toward the sun. It was there. The sun. It waited for him over the horizon.

It's light was just...beautiful.

000

Matt groans as he rub his eyes.

A gust of wind smacks itself on his face, causing him to turn toward the open window. The curtains swish violently as the wind forced them to dance. What relieved him was the fact that there was sunlight.

Matt sighs. It was a nice change from the lamp's light. It felt really intimidating last night. To find yourself suddenly inside a hospital bed all of a sudden can really scare a person silly. Unfortunately, the feelings from yesterday didn't dissipate from his heart.

Speaking of sunlight

He frowns. The dream he had last night was probably one of the most strangest dreams he ever had. While it was true he always thought the sunlight was beautiful, he didn't think he would think of such a thing in a dream. Then again, no one can really control their dreams. It felt surreal and hard to believe.

...Like the fact that he actually came into the world of Hyperdimension Neptunia before without any knowledge of how it happened...

Matt sits up. That's right. Compa said something about him having amnesia. That somehow, he actually came here before in the world of Hyperdimension Neptunia.

Yet, it didn't make any sense though. Matt knew who he was. He a college student. He was trying to figure out what he wanted to do for a career. He never came to Hyperdimension Neptunia before. Such a thing wouldn't be easy to forget.

...That's the point of amnesia though, wasn't it? He wouldn't be able to remember anything even if it did happen.

No. No. He wouldn't entertain this thought. The Neptunia characters probably mistaken him for another person. That had to be it. How things would go if he told them this, he didn't know.

What Matt did know was that he needed to find a way to get out of here. As much as it seemed like a nice thing to indulge in this little fantasy, Matt knew this wasn't were he belonged. After all, he didn't meet any of the Hyperdimension Neptunia characters before and he didn't want to remain stuck in a world he didn't know. Plus, it wasn't exactly feeling comfortable staying in this hospital room. The sooner he got home, the better.

Matt slowly turns his body to the edge of the bed. As soon as he tries to inch forward, he grits his teeth as a sharp pain jumps to his gut from the movement. Looks like he still wasn't well enough to get out of bed yet. He would have to ask Compa about how long he would be stuck in the hospital.

Seeing that he wouldn't be able to get out yet, Matt went back and place his back on the pillow. Great. He was stuck in a hospital bed in a place he didn't know about. Now what was he going to do?

"Hey Matt. How are you?"

Matt looks to see a guy walk through the door. He wore a dark, red jacket with blue jeans. A huge sword hangs by his waist, dragging itself on the floor as he walks by. They guy was taking a sip of some grape juice from the juice box.

The thing that stood out the most from this guy was that his hair was a dark purple color. Matt was pretty sure, he probably dyed it. No one would be born with purple hair...unless they were either Neptune or some other character.

Matt was also pretty sure this guy wasn't some kind of Hyperdimension Neptunia character. At least, not that he knew of. It seemed clear, however, the other guy knew something about Matt.

"How do you know me?" Matt asks.

"Well, we've met before," The guy said before he took a sip from his box, "I mean, not a lot. We didn't really know each other that long but, we kind of knew each other."

Strange. He didn't seem familiar at all. Then again, this was probably because everyone assumed he had amnesia. Not that Matt had amnesia.

"Ah," Matt said. "Who are you?"

"Ridley. My name's Ridley."

"Nice to meet you Ridley," Matt said. He watches as Ridley took a seat on the side of his bed, "So, what are you doing here?"

"Well, I came to stop by to see how you were doing," Ridley said as he was play with the juice box in his hands. "Neptune wanted to come and visit you today but, she had something important to take care of. You know, important business meetings."

Neptune wanted to see him?

Come to think of it, Compa said that Neptune would tell him more about what happened to him. Why he was stuck in a hospital bed in the first place. Hopefully, he would see Neptune soon and find out what exactly happened to him.

Ridley glances at Matt, "You probably have a lot of questions floating in your head right now, don't you?"

The latter nods. To say he had a lots of questions would be an understatement. He had millions of questions that he wanted to ask.

"Well, I can try and answer them to the best of my ability. So, give me all that you got." Ridley said.

"This is the world of Hyperdimension Neptunia, right?"

"No. This is actually my basement. All I've done was secretly use an advanced projection using advanced technology to make it look like we are in Hyperdimension Neptunia. In reality, this is all just part of your imagination," Ridley said. He breaks into a grin after seeing the look on Matt's face, "I'm kidding. I'm kidding. Yes, this is the world of Hyperdimension Neptunia."

'Wise guy.' Matt thought before he quickly dismisses it. As much as it was true, Matt knew he couldn't afford to make any enemies now. So, it was important that he was on good terms.

"So, uh, were you always in the world of Hyperdimension Neptunia?" Matt asks.

"Nah, it's not like I was born here. I came here a while ago, much like you. A lot more earlier than you." Ridley said.

"So, you are from another world like me?"

"Yup." Ridley said, "There's probably a chance we're from the same world."

"How did you get here?"

"Uh...Let's save that question for another time when you're much better." Ridley said.

"Uh. Okay," Matt said, a bit unsure about his response, "Where are we specifically in the world of Hyperdimension Neptunia?"

"Planeptune."

"Planeptune?"

"Yeah. It's the nation that my girlfriend rules."

Planeptune. The nation that Neptune ruled. It made sense when Matt thought about it. After all, Compa normally worked in the Planetptune area. So, it made sense that he would be here.

Wait...Did he just say girlfriend?

"Girlfriend?" Matt asks.

"Neptune. You know, CPU of Planeptune? Goddess Purple Heart? Ring a bell?" Ridley waves his hand.

Matt stares.

Ridley was Neptune's boyfriend? Was that even possible? Ridley begins to chuckle at Matt's face.

"What's the matter?" Ridley grins, "I didn't steal your waifu, did I?"

"Uh no. I'm just a little surprised." Matt ask.

As much as he was curious how the relationship even happened, Matt didn't want to ask the question. He didn't want to be nosy into someone's personal life. Maybe at a later time, if Ridley would be willing to tell him anyway.

...Besides, Matt didn't love Neptune, he loved someone else...Matt mentally pushes the thought away.

"So, uh," Matt began as he recollects himself, "Have you been to others plaices in Hyperdimension Neptunia like-"

"Dude. Just say Gamindustri," Ridley rolls his eyes. "It's a lot less of a mouthful, you know?"

"Uh. Right. Have you been to the other CPU nations?"

"Yeah. I've paid a visit here and there. I actually have several friends living in each of those nations. I'll introduce them to you soon." Ridley said.

"Okay. One more question: Can I go back home?"

"Hm? Home? Oh, that's right," Ridley took another sip of his grape juice," I think you had an apartment somewhere in Planeptune. I'm not really sure where though. Bet you miss the place, huh?"

Matt stares. An apartment? He had an apartment? How though? When did he ever get an apartment in the first place? Plus, wouldn't he need a job in order to pay for the rent? This just kept getting stranger and stranger.

"No," Matt said, "I mean, go back to my world?"

Ridley spat out the grape juice he was drinking. He did it so fast that he began to choke. He looks to Matt with wide eyes, as though he just asked him to set himself on fire and jump off a roof.

"What?! Why would you want to go back to your world?" Ridley asks.

"I just want to go back to my home," Matt said, "I never met anyone here. I just want to go back to my own home. To my world."

Ridley became silent and stares at his grape juice.

"Dude. I totally understand where you are getting with this. I know this is hard for you to believe but you had so many memories here and a lot of friends," Ridley said, "Besides, think about it. You're in Hyperdimension Neptunia. This is an opportunity that many dream of having. Don't you want to remember? Get back your memories of your adventures here?"

Adventures? Yeah right. That was hard to believe.

Matt doubt that he could do any adventures. He wasn't brave or strong. Even a forgettable NPC had a higher chance of getting in an adventure than him.

"Okay, I know the amnesia thing seems hard to swallow, but it's true," Ridley said. He pauses, "If you are still not sure about the amnesia thing, then at least you get to meet the characters in person, right?"

Ridley glances and a took note of Matt's unsure look, "I'll tell you what: As soon as you get better, we'll visit different places to help regain your memories. Who knows? Maybe you'll want to stay here," Ridley quickly raises his hand before Matt could say anything, "If you want. If you don't want to, then we will find a way to send you back home, first thing. Deal?"

Matt looks at Ridley. It sounded fair and reasonable. True, a huge part of him wanted to go home. Yet, a small part of him was curious in how characters such as Compa knew about him.

It couldn't hurt, right?

"Okay." Matt agrees.

Ridley holds out his pinkie to Matt, "Nep-promise."

"What?"

"Nep-promise," Ridley said as he wiggles his pinkie, "Basically, a promise, but specialized in Planeptune."

"How?"

"My girlfriend murders me if I break it." Ridley deadpans.

'Neptune would murder him? How...How would she even know?' Matt thought.

Ridley took a note of Matt's expression and shook his head, "Don't question it. She has powers beyond what we can possibly comprehend. She WILL find out if I ever break a Nep-promise."

Matt shrugs. It still seemed very unlikely though. It wasn't like Neptune was eavesdropping on them. There was no way she would ever know...Then again...Neptune did have some crazy "main protagonist" powers...

He glances at Ridley's pinkie.

"Uh. Let's not do a promise," Matt said.

"Why?" Ridley asks.

"Well...I want you to keep your head."

Ridley chuckles,"Well, I appreciate the thought. I want to keep my own head too."

Yeah. That would be extremely important, especially since there is a possibility Ridley could help him get home. Plus, it wasn't like Neptune would actually murder Ridley...right?

"Hey Ridley? When do you think I can speak to Neptune?" Matt asks

"I'll go and ask her. Hopefully, it would be soon," Ridley shrugs. "Again, goddess priorities. I don't know when she'll be done with this."

Matt nods. Fair enough. Hopefully Neptune would be done soon and could help answer the questions he had. Plus, there was something he was a bit curious about as well...

"Um. When I recover and I can leave the hospital, could you show me to my apartment?" Matt asks.

Even though Matt was still unsure about the whole amnesia thing, the least he could do was find a place to stay to decide his next course of action. Chances were he was going to need the help from the CPUs in order to get back home. In the meanwhile, he can stay at his..."apartment" until he found a way back to his world.

"Yeah. No problem. I just need to find out where it is first and we can pay a visit," Ridley said as he casually gets up from the bed, "I'll come visit you again real soon. Hang tight, alright?"

Matt nods and watches as Ridley left the door. He might not have known who Ridley was, but he seemed like a nice enough guy. Hopefully, he might be able to help him get out of the predicament he was stuck in.

...Speaking of of being stuck...

He really needed to ask Compa how long he was going to be stuck in here. Hopefully it wouldn't be too long.

Hopefully.
