"A-Another please..." Jaune hiccuped out, Junior only staring at him with a sorrow-filled gaze sliding him another jack and coke. Jaune nodded in thanks downing the mixed drink taking care not to let any of it spill on his perfectly white dress uniform, dixie cup sitting next to him wiping his eyes of any forming tears
'I should've listened to you pa...I should've fucking listened...you warned me...warned me she was no good, that she'd hurt me and I didn't want to hear it. Fuck even Uncle Tucker told me she wasn't good enough for me, goes to show how fucking blind I was.' He shook his head, forehead falling to the cold marble of the bar letting out a tired sigh.
"Here Jaune, on the house." Junior pushed a glass of sprite and water to him, the sailor bringing his head up waving a hand.
"I appreciate Junior but I'd like another hit of the jack and coke if you could." He slid the empty glass forward and Junior shook his head taking the glass away and throwing it into the nearest sink.
"Can't do that, you're dad would kill me if I gave you another drop of alcohol. Drink that water so your head isn't dying tomorrow alright?" Jaune glared at the older man rolling his eyes and started sipping from the glass of water.
"Now I got other customers to serve so stay here and...I'm sorry Jaune...I...I never would have thought my own niece would do that to you..." Jaune snorted out a hollow laugh taking another swig of water.
"Yeah...I didn't think so either...what can you do?" He shrugged resting his head against the bar again.
"If..If it makes you feel any better, Melanie beat the shit out of Miltia for doing what she did, for hurting you." Jaune only wafted a hand and Junior walked away. He felt his phone vibrate and pulled it out, messages filled his home screen groaning, seeing that Ruby, Yang, Ren, Blake, Nora hell even Weiss had sent texts saying they were worried about him. What made him want to raise an eyebrow in surprise was the lack of text from one person, the one who sent him letters all during boot camp, had driven all the way to his training base to see him and even was there for his graduation, Pyrrha.
'Weird not seeing Pyrrha send one...wonder if she's mad at me to something? Ha, that's a stupid thought Jaune. She's your best friend and is probably even angrier than you were finding out Miltia cheated. I...I don't deserve to see her anyway...I...I wasted so much time with Miltia when I had the right woman next to me this entire time. I'm sorry Pyrrha, I should've noticed sooner.' He thought in realization, bringing his head back up reaching for the water.
"Jaune?" He froze mid-sip, turning to see the owner of the voice. Pyrrha stood behind him looking just as beautiful as the last time he'd seen her which was nearly five months ago when she drove to see him for Thanksgiving. He swallowed dryly trying to step off the stool only to nearly fall on his face, Pyrrha being the only one to stop him from busting his head open.
'Hey...Hey Pyr...Don't...Don't need to worry bout me. I'm all...I'm all good." He gave her a fake smile, she shook her head tears starting to form and hit him on the head putting him back on the stool.
"Don't...Don't you DARE! Act like you're okay..." She seethed in rage but the anger wasn't directed at him. Her arms shook against his shoulder and she leaned against him holding Jaune in a tight embrace.
"You never deserved to be cheated on Jaune...You're the best man I've ever known. You tried...you tried so hard to make it work, you gave her everything and it was never enough." He couldn't keep it in and let out a choked sob hugging her back.
"I-I did everything right Pyrrha? I told Miltia I loved her, that I cared about her but...but I guess I wasn't enough huh? Just another guy huh?" Pyrrha pulled away resting her hands on his cheeks staring directly into Jaune's eyes.
"Don't EVER say you were never enough Jaune Arc. You're...you're the sweetest, most reliable and kind man I've ever met and...and it's been KILLING me not saying this to you ever since senior year of high school but...I love you Jaune, and I've been in love with you for the past four years." Jaune couldn't get out a word, he was completely speechless mouth moving but unable to form a single word. She leaned forward pressing her lips against his, for the first time ever she was kissing him. Pyrrha had been waiting on the sidelines, hoping for the right time to confess but it never came. All hope seemed lost when Jaune and Miltia got together, dated for two years and still stayed together during Jaune's time in boot camp. He never knew she was cheating on him until today, arriving home a month earlier than expected walking into her apartment as a surprise only to see Miltia sleeping with another man. This was her chance, selfish? Absolutely but if she kept in her feelings any longer it would drive her insane.
'Thank you for telling me where he was Mr. Arc...' She pulled away biting her lip. Jaune didn't say anything for a few seconds then finally spoke.
"H-How long?" Jaune swallowed as Pyrha let out a small giggle.
"Too long...far too long Jaune. Since senior year of high school." He let out a breath shaking his head.
"I'm...I'm an idiot...I'm sorry Pyrrha I'm so sorry." She pushed her index finger to his lips.
"No, don't apologize Jaune. I should've told you about them long ago. Do you..would you like to...give us a shot?" Jaune kissed her quickly and sloppily still being inebriated but smiled.
"I'd...I'd love you." Pyrrha smiled hugging him again, she just got her dream come true.
I've been down lately and needed to get my thoughts out. I made this quick oneshot and...it's heavily based off my own life. To put things short, I was in a serious relationship going into my navy Bootcamp and we agreed to take a break until I was finally back then get together again. Stupid decision at the time but I wanted to make sure she'd still be happy while I was gone. I wrote her letters and she wrote back telling me she didn't want to get back together already finding a new guy even worse though? It was with a good friend of mine with college and she hid that from me until I finally graduated from boot camp. Today two years ago was the day we broke up and I haven't been with anyone since. The difference between this oneshot and my own life is that I haven't found my Pyrrha yet, I'll just have to keep looking.
