A few weeks after Artoria went on a journey with Kay and Merlin by her side, Ector ,who was sitting in his office, frowned as he heard reports from one of the militiamen.
"You must be joking, aren't you?"
"No, sir. According to our investigations, the young lord has managed to make quite a name for himself. He, along with Sir Kay and her Ladyship Merlin, managed to put down all the Saxons and the Gaels who tried to approach South Gaels, but not only that, they apparently did the same in North Wales. Even this morning, I've heard from traveling merchants that they saved a village in the north from the legendary Afanc, killing it not long ago."
Hearing this, Ector placed his hand over his forehead, feeling a headache.
"Another monster from folklore... Why do those three always end up fighting these beings? Are they cursed or something..." He couldn't help but to mutter, a tired expression on his face which contrasted the militiaman who seemed moved by Artoria and the others' feats.
"But it wasn't the only thing they did. Apparently, Sir Kay helped the villages they visited during their journey and healed their lands with the help of his fae companion. Because of that, rumors that the fae accompanying him is an avatar of the Goddess Arianrhod and that your son is her lover began to spread around."
"What a load of bullshit..." Ector said, which shocked the militiaman as he never expected to hear the veteran knight swear openly like he just did.
"We all know that Kay's fae companion isn't the goddess since he told us so, but despite everything, it's rather fitting. From oral tales I've heard from passing bards, Arianrhod was said to be the goddess of fertility and the stars. And with their act of healing the lands, making them regain their vitality and how Sir Kay's weapons all shone like bright stars, it's no wonder people would link both of them to said goddess."
"I just hope that they won't cause any trouble... Even if they are strong enough to shrug an entire army by themselves, it doesn't mean that our militia can do the same. We aren't to fight a war yet, so the last thing we want right now is to gain some unwanted attention."
"Excuse me, sir, but if I were to be honest, I believe that Artorius… I mean, Arthur and his group's reputation already exceeds both King Cradelmas and King Belinant's, so it wouldn't be surprising if we already got their attention."
"Oh lord..."
With a mumble, Ector slapped his forehead, already feeling exhausted just from hearing the name of the reigning king over North Wales and South Wales respectively.
He had already heard that because of the rumors about Arthur making South Wales his territory, Belinant didn't look at Arthur with kind eyes, so he was now certain that the king wouldn't take it kindly over his subjects leaving his realm for Arthur's. And since both kings were brothers, Cradelmas assisting him is a possibility, meaning that they may be oppressed by two kings and their armies at the same time.
"I'm sorry but can you leave? I need to be alone for a moment."
"Yes, sir!"
After bowing to Ector, the militiaman left the office, leaving the old man alone in the room as he soon collapsed on his desk, completely exhausted, before he winced as he felt a pain in his stomach.
"I really wish those three would stop stressing me out like that. I wonder what they are doing right now..."
Ector thought as he looked at the blue sky through his window, his mind full of worries.
At the same time, somewhere in South Wales, Kay and the girls were exploring a forest in search of a beast.
"Alright, Cavall, it's time to show us how good your nose is." Artoria said as she looked down on the puppy that was standing before her, his tail wagging vigorously.
"So, can you tell me more about the beast we're chasing?" Kay asked Merlin who was floating in the air near him, sitting on her staff.
"He's named Twrch Trwyth and he's a giant demonic boar. For some years, he stole, devoured and killed as he pleased as he roamed across Britain alongside seven piglets, seeming chaos in his trails, and recently, he came to Wales with his most recent victims seemingly being those people and their village." She said as she looked at a group of people following them, some holding forks and axes in their hands.
The trio had met the villagers when their village was attacked by a group of demonic boars, destroying and killing everything in their path. And now, they were all trying to search for the beasts who ran away, using Cavall's sense of smell to track them down.
"Still, I understand devouring and killing, but I can't believe that a demonic boar would steal from people."
"It's because Twrch Trwyth was originally a Welsh prince who loved to do such things before he got cursed and turned into a boar as a result, but it didn't stop him from continuing his evil deeds."
"I see." Kay said as he nodded to himself before he turned to the villagers. "I know it's a bit late but are you sure you guys want to come with us? It's going to be dangerous."
"We're aware of it, but we want to see these monsters brought down, no matter what. Because of them, we lost our home and many people got injured, and some died..." One of them, a young man, said with a downcast expression on his face which was shared by the other villagers.
"I'm really sorry for your loss. If only we were a little faster..." Artoria started to apologize to them but the young man shook his head, a bitter smile on his face.
"No, you have nothing to apologize for. If it weren't for you three and the help you gave us, I'm sure that there would be more casualties and death than we currently have, so please don't apologize to us."
"I understand... Then I offer you my condolences and swear that we'll put an end to Twrch Trwyth, that's the least we can do for you all."
And after a long walk, the group left the forest as they were led by Cavall to a ruined castle.
"Seems like we found their hideout." Kay said, his iris changing to a blue color as he used his Clairvoyance to look inside the castle.
"Merlin, do you know anything about this place?"
"What you see before you, Arthur, is the castle of Caerleon. It's an old Roman fortress but it was abandoned by the time the Romans left Britain decades ago. It seems like the locals tried to use it as a shelter from the war, but as you can see, it was destroyed."
"... In any case, let's go inside. It's time for us to put that beast down. We don't know what dangers lie inside, so let's stay grouped and vigilant." Artoria said to the group who all nodded to her words with Cavall barking at their side.
And as they entered the castle and went deeper into it, the atmosphere around the ground seemed to become darker and the surrounding air heavier.
The villagers suddenly found it harder for them to breathe in, their senses became more keen because of fear, hearing their footsteps more vividly as if they resonated across the ruined walls like an echo. And despite the fact that it was in the middle of summer, the air hitting them was an eerily cold and damp one, making them shiver as sweat dripped down their backs.
Unlike Artoria, Kay, Merlin and Cavall who managed to keep their cool under such conditions with ease, the villagers couldn't help themselves but to look at their surroundings in fear, their bodies and weapons shaking.
Seeing they were about to run like a headless chicken, Artoria tried to reassure them, giving them a kind smile.
"Don't worry, there is nothing to fear. We are here to protect you people, so let's calm down, okay?"
"Ye...yes, thank you."
"We'll try to not get on your way..."
Despite their shivering bodies, the villagers replied to Artoria who nodded with a bright smile, seemingly happy with their courage.
And as they resumed their exploration, they quickly found themselves in front of a huge door from which a vile aura emanated from behind.
"Brother..."
"Yeah, given the lack of interception, it looks like they were waiting for us there... It may be a trap, so stay on your guard and don't panic, especially you guys." Kay said, addressing the last part to the villagers who nodded at his words.
Then, after enhancing his leg with Magical Energy, Kay kicked the door open, sending it flying away in the room before it crashed through the opposite wall, creating a hole. And when they entered the room, the group were surprised to see a giant boar, sitting on a throne with a gigantic amount of treasure behind him.
"Not only do you dare to encroach on my kingdom, but you also have the nerve to break down my door like that... I won't grant you any forgiveness so prepare yourselves, you worms!"
"The boar talked?!"
"Wait, why is sitting on a throne?!" Two villagers retorted in shock as they stared at the boar who frowned, hearing their words.
"How dare you call me a boar! I am Twrch Trwyth, the king of Welsh, and I order you to call me by that title!"
"The king of pigs?" Artoria asked as she tilted her head in confusion, making Kay and Merlin sneer by her side, which only increased Twrch's ire further as he let out a loud squeal.
"I will not let this insult pass! Come and join my side, my subjects! Join me as we slay these intruders in our kingdom!"
And with a shout, seven piglets appeared from behind the pile of treasures, all looking fierce as they glared at the group with the villagers, flinching from the bloodlust emanating from the beasts.
"Now, kill them! Let us feast on their flesh and blood!" Twrch Trwyth roared as his minions immediately charged at the group but they were quickly slashed apart by Artoria, Kay and Cavall who was holding a sword with his mouth, the trio moving so fast that nobody aside from Merlin managed to follow their movements.
"Oink?" "Eh?" "What?"
"Now that we took care of your subordinates, the only one remaining is you, lord pig." Artoria said as she pointed Caliburn at Twrch Trwyth who was shivering in his seat, seemingly sweating.
"Do–do you really think that you can win against me… Oink?!" Twrch Trwyth started to say before he let out a squeal out of fear when he suddenly felt an oppressive aura coming from Artoria.
And without wasting any time, he immediately tried to run away from the girl, heading for the hole in the wall made by the door that Kay had kicked. But unfortunately, he was quickly caught by Artoria as she approached him in one bound and effortlessly beheaded the boar with her holy sword.
Seeing the headless demonic boar fall on the ground, the villagers all started to rejoice at the sight before them.
"He did it!"
"Hurray for Arthur!"
And as they all ran to Artoria's side, congratulating her for her exploit in killing the monsters and helping them avenge their lost ones, Kay, who was watching them from the sidelines, noticed that Merlin seemed to be lost in her thoughts.
"Hey, is there something wrong?"
"Not really. It's just that in the future I predicted, Twrch Trwyth was supposed to escape from this place, injured but not killed. It was supposed to be an arduous quest for Arthur, but it ended as quickly as it started. I suppose Arthur grew stronger than I envisioned, all because of a certain someone."
"I'll take that as a compliment. That aside, I wanted to ask you something earlier. You said that Twr... that boar got cursed decades ago, do you know who cursed him?"
"Oh, it's me." Merlin casually replied to Kay's question, making him blink as he stared at the succubus for a few moments before he glanced at Artoria who was surrounded by the smiling villagers, all praising the young girl.
"Somehow, it feels like we're committing a fraud... getting thanked for something you caused..." Kay said as he grabbed Merlin's face, lifting her off the ground, the succubus struggling helplessly against his hand.
"Hey, it's not like I knew that he was going to continue terrorizing the country even after getting cursed... Argh, don't squeeze my head!"
And this was how another chronicle of Arthur's adventure was born, a moment of peace being born in Wales as the monsters that terrorized the region were taken down by the young king and his companion.
However, who knew that this peace would only last a few days before everything exploded because of a single person.
