Title: Field Tested - Sequel to 'Brief Visitor'

Author: badly-knitted

Characters: Jack, Ianto, Tosh, John Hart, Team

Rating: G

Written For: Challenge 315 – Drone at tw100

Spoilers: None really.

Summary: The field test is over, but they still have Hart to deal with.

Disclaimer: I don't own Torchwood, or the characters.

A/N: Two more drabbles for you.

.

I love Janto: Flowers are one of the greatest joys in this world; more flowers can only be a good thing =)

They really didn't need another problem when they already have Hart; they're secretly relieved that what came through was harmless. The drone is doing its job, recording everything. Information on new aliens is always useful.

Yeah, you're not alone in thinking that ;)

Katladygh: Ch. 14 - No Good Choices - This is set during Small Worlds (Season 1) where Jack has to give Jasmine to the faeries for the sake of the rest of the world.

Hope you're enjoying the show!

Ch. 18 - Stranded On Halloween - This is one I'm hoping to do a longer version of, if I can ever find the time. Jack may decide ghosts aren't so much fun after all, lol!

Ch. 20 - Pied Piper - Yeah, I wanted to keep these drabbles reasonably innocent to keep the rating down. I'm useless at writing smut anyway. I'm better with fluff and humour. Sorry to disappoint ;)

Ch. 22 - Unlikely Friendships - Myfanwy is Torchwood's pteranodon (pterodactyl if you prefer), the one Jack and Ianto capture in Fragments. Not sure if the name is actually canon, but it's definitely a fandom thing. You won't know Nosy unless you've read my Nosy-Verse stories (starting with 'Capturing The Beast') because it's my invention, my main OC, a friendly alien that fell through the Rift and has been adopted as Torchwood's pet. It's basically a fluffy, snake-shaped creature, but it's a vegetarian.

Ch. 23 - Worlds Apart - It's the Doctor's hand that got sliced off in the Doctor Who Christmas Special 'The Christmas Invasion'. Jack has it in the Season 1 episode Day One, and takes it with him when he runs off with the Doctor at the end of End of Days. It's kept in some sort of containment jar.

Ch. 28 - Fallen Hero - Jack is always going to blame himself for losing Gray, no matter what anyone tells him. The events of that day have left permanent emotional scars. He was still just a child himself so it's not surprising that it affected him so deeply.

Ch. 29 - The Search - I'm glad to say I've never lost my car in a car park, though soon after I got my first one, I almost walked home without it because I forgot I'd driven into town.

Ch. 40 - A Rabbit's Tale - And Ianto suddenly has an unexpected bunny to deal with, lol!

Ch. 43 - A Rabbit's Tale Part Four - Jack is Jack, even when he's temporarily a rabbit. Or maybe, especially when he's temporarily a rabbit. Rabbits have that reputation for a reason, I should know, I've had several, lol!

Ch. 66 - Elusive Butterfly - Not exactly, but Ianto doesn't appreciate the sniggers. So, decaf is inevitable, but if anyone calls him 'petal' there will be bloodshed!

Ch. 96 - The Domino Effect - Yep! It's amazing the effect one small mis-step can have on the rest of your day...

Ch. 100 - Come Back, Jack Harry Teesdale - That's the major downside of this site, it removes most of the formatting from documents, including all line breaks and it took me months to find a system that actually worked. I probably should go back and re-edit, but that means uploading all the documents again, one at a time, and re-editing them which would be a nightmare of epic proportions so I'm not doing it. I don't have the time, I have writing deadlines to meet.

Thanks for the offer, but I have several betas that I use when needed and for obvious reasons, I see no point having 100 word drabbles betaed. My grammar, spelling and punctation are usually good enough, I edit everything I write to within an inch of its life anyway, though like anyone, the occasional typo slips through and I correct any that people notice and point out to me.

Ch. 105 - A Chaise Longue Too Far - I believe it's a French term for a kind of long chair, a particular type of sofa. Very elegant pieces of furniture, but rather ornate.

This was a fun prompt to work with though, I loved the sheer variety the episode titles allowed. I'm still writing the occasional one using that prompt because there were a lot of other tempting titles I didn't have time to use.

Thank you for all your reviews!

"What a waste of time," Jack grumbled.

"Not a complete waste. At least now we know the drone's effective in the field," Ianto pointed out. "There're some modifications we might want to add…"

"We're still not installing a machine gun," Tosh told him.

"I was thinking more along the lines of some kind of stealth capability so it won't be spotted by the wrong people." Ianto looked straight at Hart.

"I'm hurt." Hart attempted a wounded puppy expression. It was nowhere near as effective as Jack's.

Jack glared at him.

"Shut up. Haven't decided what to do with you yet."

With the Wisp gone and nothing left for the team to do, they made their way back to the SUV, taking Hart along with them. None of them trusted him left to his own devices; it seemed altogether safer for all concerned to have him where they could keep a close eye on him.

Tosh landed the drone, powering it down before loading it in the boot. She was pleased with the field test; it had gone better than she'd hoped and they'd even collected data on a previously unknown alien.

The only fly in the ointment was Captain Hart.
