You guys have known this from the last chapter and it's obvious that what happens next is something Lincoln and the others need to know, to check on the girl who was once known as the sister to the former louds, and the last time they saw her was on December. Helluva Loud Adventures.
(Grand Haven, Ottawa.)
Located in this place is where the inmate who escaped the bus crash has been placed and that person is the former jokester of the Louds, Luan.
Luan is too busy mopping the floors of the place, but why is she mopping when she could be getting medical attention? We'll get to that later.
She has had it hard when she was at the first mental hospital before she was transferred and she thought her life would be harder, but then she got the chance to freedom and that was when the bus transferring her crashed and so she went to the one place where she could be safe, home.
But that was her biggest mistake and going home was not such a good idea.
She went face-to-face with her former siblings who didn't let her talk to them and only let her get taken away by the cops and she's sent off to where she was supposed to go and it's this place.
The Otterson Mental Hospital, which was opened in the late 90's and has been in good service since, but the thing about this place is that when the patients are cleared of medical problems, then they can be given another test and that test is to test them for a month or two if they're mental issues won't come back.
To do that, they need to test them on doing voluntary work around the place and then taking in a few small tests and trivial things. This place isn't so bad, it's like a less than violent mental hospital and yes, Luan is not classified as insane.
Luan recalls when she went to the last asylum, she lost it! she literally lost it and she nearly went into full deranged joker mode when they restrained her, but then she met someone who helped her and his name was Dr. Heinrich Z.D Himmler, the 2nd and a very good physician too, along with the role of therapist and psychiatrist.
This man helped Luan recover from her mental state and he asked her why she acted like this, and as it turns out, she was bullied back then. Bullied by some girls back in High School when she was a freshman, she never told her family otherwise it could get worse.
She explained why she always put pranking to her family, because it's all her mental mind thought of trying to ease her pain and she targeted the closest ones and that was her family. She thought it would ease her and also make her feel better, but she had no clue they were suffering because of her.
It took her five days with her psychiatrist to figure it out and now, she's handled her mental state and is looking forward to whatever chance she has to find redemption and speak to her family, mostly towards Lincoln for her actions in the whole Bad Luck thing. That is if she can get to him and not get murdered.
Luan is trying to find some way to calm her nerves with some other things and she found out she's good at writing, even though her handwriting is terrible and she seems to be the only one who can read it.
Luan at this moment has been trying to fix her hand writing and see if she could have a future with it. But at this time, she's volunteered to mop the eastern hallways because the janitor is on vacation.
Luan continues to do this and she whistles the tune from a song she heard on TV. She's also been trying to keep track of what the old family has been up to, especially with Lincoln.
Luan then sees one of the doctors. "Luan, some folks are here to see you."
Luan is confused by this. "Umm, okay. Let me put this away and tell them I'll be right there." The doctor nods and walks away, while Luan puts the mop and other things away. She then thinks.
'Who in the name of all things would wanna see me? Could it be Pop-pop? It better not be Aunt Ruth, or Aunt Shirley.'
Luan puts the cleaning things away and she walks down the halls to get to where the meetings of patients and outsiders takes place.
On her way there, she waves and greets to some of the patients and staff folks she knows. She's changed so much, and is still trying to change for the better.
Luan makes it to the room with all the chairs, tables and the TV, with some shelves and drawers with books and board games.
Luan looks around and something makes her stop in place and go wide eyed. 'No.'
Right there sitting at a chair by the window, is Lincoln Silva Hound and with him is his big sister Luna, and they're mom Loona who is going through her phone. Luan tries to back up, but the hellhound spots her. "Luan?"
Lincoln and Luna take notice of this and they look towards Luan, they see the fear and concern in her eyes. Lincoln gets up. "Luan, stop. We wanna talk."
Luan doesn't listen and she tries to run, but she trips on her own slippers and hits the floor head first.
They all go towards her, but it's Loona who helps her back up. Luan notices this and sees the face of the same hellhound who took in her former siblings. "You okay, kid?"
Luan then gets up and looks around her. "W-why are you all here?" They're about to say something, but then Luan thinks of what they're here for. "Oh god! Someone wants me dead?! Who is it? Please, I didn't mean to hurt that person, I just…. That was the old me!"
Luna tries to talk to her. "Luan, stop…."
"I did so many wrong before and I hurt so many folks and all because I couldn't tell everyone what I went through in High School!" Luan begins to cry and fall to her knees.
Loona tries to calm her down. "Luan, we're not here to…"
Luan covers her eyes and she continues to cry. "I swear on my life, that I never knew what I was doing, but I've changed. I'm not that same Luan anymore! You have to believe me!"
"LUAN!"
The teen stops and she looks up to see Lincoln with a concerned look, and he goes down to one knee. "Luan, we just came here to talk. Please."
Luan looks into the eyes of her former brother and she can see, that these are not the same angered eyes from the court, or the same murderous eyes when she came back to town. These were the eyes of someone who wants to talk and does not wanna hurt her, and someone she can trust, sorta.
Luan nods and Lincoln helps her back to her feet.
They all go over to the nearby table and talk.
They remain silent and so Loona speaks first. "Luan, I was notified about what you've been doing lately and what you did after that whole thing at the court house. You're changing and that's a good thing."
Luan sighs. "Yeah, not wrong. I thought I would remain as one demented and lost soul with the only purpose to be as insanely delusional with pranks and all of that stuff, but it took the great skills of one man to help me and now… I'm doing fine."
Luna then explains. "That's because the psychiatrist who came to help you was a hire from an associate from one of Stolas's pals. It's obvious, also Auntie Octavia kinda knew and didn't tell anyone, yet."
Luan is surprised to hear this. Her psychiatrist was hired by a demon, she didn't think it would turn out that the same demons from the court would wanna help her.
Luan sighs. "Well, at least I'm changed and getting my head straightened out. Honestly, I don't know what I would have become if I had stayed in that asylum with no one to help me at all. So, thanks."
Then she asks them. "Why are you guys here to see me? I know you wanna see me change at…."
"I'm sorry." Luan looks towards Lincoln. The snow haired boy looks to her with some guilt and concern. "Luan, when you came back to Royal Woods. It kinda got me super pissed off at you coming back, and at that point I didn't care about what you wanted to say, because I was….. Well….."
"Angry? Mad? Upset? Not in the mood for me to be back?" asked Luan. Lincoln nods, and Luan kinda knew. "Yeah, I get it and I also made that mistake on my own and thought I'd find you guys and talk to you about what I've done. But, I should've thought about it and seen the way things were."
"It makes sense why you were so mad at me when I showed up. I mean, it's a memory that isn't so easy to get over and I had a lot to play in my part for your torment and didn't do….. Shit to help you, or see what has happened. Luna seemed to notice that, and she wasn't able to do anything, but she noticed."
"To be honest, when I saw you guys, I thought you were gonna come and kill me for someone who wants me back in hell. Because that's what you guys do, some of that stuff has been rumoring all around social media."
This confuses them, but then they figured out who may have spread the rumor. 'Blitzo.'
Loona decides to tell her. "Luan, you got a shit load of folks who want you dead. From everything you have done to them and how dark and painful they had to go through in life until they died. One of them died from his own allergies of peanuts."
Luan recalls that one, her devastating peanut flood prank at the supermarket and yet she paid for it with one heavy duty grounding and paying for the damages.
"So, you guys aren't gonna kill me?" asked Luan.
"No dude. We just wanted to see you and know how you've been doing" replied Luna. She felt really nervous about talking to her former roommate and sister. "And you have been doing well with yourself, and that makes us proud to know you're trying to change."
Luan smirks. "Well, gotta figure out what to do with my life somehow and janitorial duty sure isn't one of them."
They all chuckle hearing that.
Lincoln then speaks up. "Luan, I don't know what's gonna happen next, or when we might come back to see you. But, should the day come for you to come back to town, then you're gonna need to find some way to redeem yourself and regain the forgiveness and trust from those who saw you for who you are."
"Because for the past 14 years, you have been staining Royal Woods with a shit load of pranks and damage that seems hard to undo and nearly difficult to patch up, and the same goes to us as well. We don't know if we can trust you or even forgive you, but change is a good start and… I'm proud of what you're trying to do."
"Sorry I thought you were demented and dubbed crazy."
Luan smiles. "No, it's okay. I kinda thought of that to myself a well. Always have Linc. Also, I hope I can regain the trust and forgiveness from the folks I wronged, the place I called home and to those who I saw as my family. I'll do what I can and….. Maybe we can see where the future leads for all of us."
Lincoln and Luna smiled hearing that, Luan is changing for the better and she wants to show everyone that she's not the same as she was, and they hope everyone else in Royal Woods can see that. Lucy and the others, especially Leni and Lori are not gonna believe this shit.
Loona is also proud at this girl and what she's trying to do, then she recalls the Luan from the other world, the one who is 3 years old and died. Loona looks to Luan who is now talking to Lincoln and Luna about the incident with Rita.
Loona was feeling something wrong. 'I got a bad feeling about her, something might happen, but what?'
(Royal Woods Elementary School.)
It is Sunday and no one should be here at the moment, but someone is and she's checking out the classroom she has been given and she takes a seat on her chair.
She places down the mirror she'll use and she looks to the math book she has and that she's assigned as the mathematics and science teacher to the 6th grade students, which means Mrs. Johnson will remain as the history teacher and also teacher to other subjects.
She then places her name plaque down and she smiles at the name. ""Mrs. Mayberry." Even though this is the last name she hates, for some reason she's okay with it and she'll stick with it.
Mara Mayberry looks out the window and she can see the side of the school and the peaceful clear blue skies. 'I think I'm gonna like working here.'
