By day, Astarion is a lawyer who defends the vilest elite of Baldur's Gate but by night, he's the elusive swindler who screws over those waiting in the shadows to pounce on others. Tav is a professional musician who stumbled into a scheme herself. Astarion intervenes in her situation and ends up earning her ire. Somehow, they end up neighbors and fall into an interesting rhythm.

Awakening from a cryptic slumber, a man emerges from a capsule, not knowing who he is or why he is there. All he knows are splinters of his past and that something was implanted in his head that will eventually trigger a nightmarish metamorphosis. This fic takes place after Astarion has ascended and the pirasite is gone. Will We be able to bring back Astarion to how he once was? Or will he always be consumed by darkness?

This is a future in which Tav remained good and broke up with Astarion after realizing ascension changed him. (Tav is with Karlach now because I wanted to romance her, but couldn't resist Astarion.)
