BATMAN BEYOND

CATCH ME IF YOU CAN

Terry presses the bat mobile activation button upon his belt, calling it to his destination, and glances at Melanie Walker.

"Follow me if you want to get out of this situation." He states to her as the bats flying around begin to diminish in number since he had turned off his bat-calling gadget.

Her voice trembling as she fights a stutter, and manages to ask her question.

"Are… are you the real… are you the Batman from history books?"

Knowing that time is of the essence right now, he walks to the end of the alleyway as the bat mobile pulls up and the hatch opens for him.

"Come with me now or stay for the police. Your call."

Without hesitation, she runs to the car and hops in.

"You might want to buckle up. Things are about to get a little nuts."

The hatch closes, he puts the car on full throttle, and the jet engine fires on all cylinders.

As the thousands of bats begin to dissipate, the Gotham City police at the scene hear the mighty roar of the bat mobile behind them, and they observe it quickly pick up speed driving away down the city street.

"Everybody get in your hover cruisers now. After that black… car."

The few airships that the police already have in the air begin to give chase after the pitch-black bat mobile only to discover that they can't keep up with an old-school vehicle that as far as anyone knows throughout history, the vehicle seemingly has no limits.

At first, the police try to track it with radar, only to be shocked that the bat mobile has anti-tracking systems. It continuously keeps on giving the police static interference and disrupts several tracking systems.

The main reason was already told to Terry, that as the city got newer tech, he had to upgrade the bat mobile to counteract the police and government from trying to stop him on several occasions.

But now, the Batman in the legendary Batmobile presses the accelerator full-on. The once silent engine that had sat in the cave for years now roars at full powerful blast, as the police look in shock once it passes several of them.

The police who peruse the vehicle try to communicate only to discover that the communications are knocked out and all they hear is a continual hiss of static.

"Hold on" Terry, or rather, the Batman tells Melanie as he slams on the brake peddle and turns the vehicle to a ramp towards the highway, leaving the city streets.

"What are you doing?" she asks in a slight panic. To her, he looks like a mountain of muscle ferociously controlling an all-powerful machine.

"I'm preparing to lose the police and drop you off someplace safe." He tells her in the same tone. And almost the same voice as the original Batman.

And right when he reaches the highway, he presses a few select buttons on the middle divider releasing smoke and he turns off his car while leaving it in neutral, allowing it to roll at full speed.

"What the heck? Are you crazy? You're turning off the car! They are going to arrest us!" her voice high and in a panic. However, Batman smiles ever so slightly and simply states to her. "Just relax."

He opens up a latch on the dash and presses a bright red button that's glowing and suddenly the Batmobile releases a powerful vibration and an audible boom-like sound. And right after that moment, Batman turns the Batmobile back on and presses the car to its maximum speed.

All the while everything else within a mile radius just got knocked out with an electromagnetic pulse. Courtesy of the dark knight himself.

Elsewhere back at Terry's house, his mother, and his little brother are both watching the news, or have been watching the news, to have seen the actual Batmobile in action. Only to have the camera go dead and then they experience static on the television.

Not knowing what had just happened, his mother spoke out.

"Oh darn, something must have happened to the signal. Check if we got something on one of the other news stations."

As Bruce Wayne monitors Terry on his computer, he simply smiles ever so slightly and nods in approval to the methods the young new Batman chose that night.

Terry takes his hand grips the steering wheel presses the boosters and drives at full speed on the highway until he spots the escape path which will enter one of the multiple secret hideouts spread throughout Gotham City.

He pulls off the freeway and onto one of the main roads pulls up to a closed museum, and opens the hatch on the Batmobile.

"This is your stop. Time to get out and head on home." His voice was stern and calm.

She looks at him slightly shaken and yet manages to speak out a few words of thanks.

"Uh… thank… thank you, Batman. For not turning me in to the authorities."

He simply waits for her to get out and tells her, "Don't let me catch you again. Next time, I'll toss you in with the rest of the criminals. Don't ruin your life."

And with that, he closes the hatch punches the jet power to full, and heads off to one of his chosen pathways towards the Batcave. He was ending the night.
