Final reply time for this story. Thank you to all who have supported it up to here!

lordgemini- The overall elimination order for this story was planned relatively randomly, it fell to me to make plots have that happen, so while the final five was a really solid bunch, this rewrite helped me a lot on getting them into real characters. Hope you like the finale, it'll be very different than last time.

Okay, time to finish this.

Episode 21: Destiny's Depiction

Chris and Chef were working on something in the control room as the episode opened. The cook was busy turning up a meter to its highest amount, watching as orange liquid poured through some nearby tubes. Smoke could be seen on the ends of it. "Last time, on Total Drama Kara Island," Chris opened for the final episode, "our three semi-finalists were put to the test by reliving the inverse of some of their previous challenges." Clips played of the final three looking at the challenge board and Kara picking her first choice. "Some picked their favorites, while others picked what they thought would get them a win." Clips played of Paul picking the mountain challenge and Ethan picking the fear challenge. "All three of theme excelled, but it ended up being Kara who managed to squeeze through the boys and take immunity from both of them."

Chris continued his narration as clips from Kara winning the fear trial and subsequently immunity played. "Stuck against a tough alliance to crack, Paul spent his entire day working Kara to attempt to convince her to switch to being with him." Clips played of Paul's numerous attempts at persuading the curious girl. "But, thanks to the trust Ethan had worked to build up, Kara stuck to the original plan and brought Ethan with her to the finale." Clips played of Paul's elimination. "Now we get to shatter that alliance and turn those two against each other. Let's see how each of their journeys went."

"Ethan started off a cold-hearted winning machine," Chris opened as clips played of Ethan orchestrating some early votes and his sabotage of Chad. "He wanted to win at any cost, and because of that, he took out threats and non-threats alike. But, through Madison, he realized he needed to be kind too. While he tried to dial it back, Jonathan had other plans for him!" Clips played of his early interactions with Madison and Jonathan blackmailing him. "Forced to do the weirdo's bidding, Ethan orchestrated much of the pre-merge, until his master turned on him and pinned half the camp against him! Enduring poison and the grueling hunt for the sole-vote idol, Ethan clawed his way out from the bottom and made his way into the finale with an alliance offer that was hard to refuse." Finally, clips played of Ethan using the sole-vote idol on Kayla and him starting his alliance with Kara. "But, that one true ally is now his one true enemy."

"Kara started off this season with a bang- literally!" The opening clips for Kara were of the curious girl blowing herself up in the first challenge and her initial curiosity of the Disaster Dome. "She secretly allied with her sister before the season started, allowing them to vote similarly despite barely interacting ever! This got Kara a safe trip right to the merge, which is good. She needed it after constantly shirking off challenges to go do her own thing, like investigate my personal Disaster Dome that was offline until today." Clips played of Kara's disappearance in the picture challenge, the eating challenge, and her in the mines officially shutting off the Disaster Dome. "Eventually choosing not to side with Kayla anymore, her choice caught the interest of Ethan, who proposed a hard-to-turn-down kind of offer- a free trip to the finale in exchange for loyalty. She accepted that deal, and now here she is!" The final clips were of her not siding with Kayla and her accepting the alliance offer with Ethan. "Now she can throw all that trust away, but will it be enough for her to win it? Find out who takes it all right now, on the finale of Total! Drama! Karon Island!"

Opening Sequence

[Various cameras and other director equipment come popping out of various points on the island. Firstly, it appears out of a large tree, then out of a hole at the entrance to the mines, and finally, shooting all the way from the top of The Chasm.]

Dear Mom and Dad, I'm doing fine,

[The camera zooms all the way up at the top of Mount Karon. Kara is at the top, observing something as Kayla jumps off of the cliff and starts flying downward, opening up a parachute at the very last second.]

You guys are on my mind,

[The camera moves to the beach, where Gretchen falls off of the rocky cliff and lands face first into the water, still splashing around happily anyway. Nearby, Juan is relaxing in the water as Hannah pops up next to him, evidently annoying him.]

You asked me what I wanted to be, and I think the answer is plain to see,

[Near the beach, the fourth boat is still wrecked and crashed into a rock. Helio lifts the boat out of the water to move it, all while Daniel is still on it, shocked at the boy's strength. Meanwhile, Madison emerges from the boat wreckage as well, and Jonathan offers his hand to help, which she takes begrudgingly.]

I wanna be famous!

[Further into the woods, Paul is narrowly racing against Sarah in a race. The pessimist trips over Sheldon and crashes to the ground, upset over his loss because of it. Flora rushes over to check on the safety of both the boys.]

I wanna live close to the sun,

[At the base of Mount Karon, Randall is decked out in climbing gear, excited to start moving up the mountain. Next to him, Alexa, looks significantly disinterested, sleeping on a log instead of watching.]

Go pack your bags cause I've already won,

[In the forest, Chad is screaming and jumping around to different trees, while Angie stands in the middle of all of it, covering her ears and getting increasingly more agitated.]

Everything to prove, nothing in my way, I'll get there one day,

[As Chad makes more noises, Ethan and Norm watch from a tree in the distance, before both of them exchange an understanding nod. Next to them lies an empty poison bottle.]

Cause I wanna be famous!

[In the dining tent, Chef and Luna are conversing rather calmly, before a strike of lightning crashes down on the tent. Chef runs out, but Luna appears unfazed by it, instead calmly glancing upward.]

Na na, na na na na, na na na na, na na na na na na!

[The camera moves to the dock, where Luna appears out of nowhere, spooking Paul and Kayla. The two glare at her, the former giving up on caring much faster than the latter.]

I wanna be, I wanna be, I wanna be famous! I wanna be, I wanna be, I wanna be famous!

[The camera drops down to the mines, where Kara is lurking, and she presses a button that launches out a ball of fire. The fire reveals some sort of odd structure inside the mine, bursting into a big glow that transitions to the fire.]

I wanna be famous *whistling*

[Everyone is circled up at the fire. In the middle of all of it, Jonathan leans in toward Madison, who jumps backward, accidentally landing in Ethan's lap, where she is even more freaked out. Above them is the sign that reads 'Total Drama Karon Island'.]

Out at the campsite, Ethan and Kara had just returned from watching Paul get launched into the sky. Things had been quiet on their walk back, each of them likely very concerned about what might be coming up for them. Eventually. it was Ethan who broke the silence. "Well, we made it," he said, stating the obvious. "Despite everyone against us, we got here, and without any unnecessary scheming."

Kara nodded. "Yeah, I guess we had a lot of hate coming our way after our team-up, you especially," she added, pointing to the anti-villain. "Don't get me wrong, you cleaned up your act, but if you were the same person you were at the start, there was no shot you were getting this far." She noticed the odd way Ethan had reacted to that statement. "No offense," she added carefully.

Ethan sighed. "No, no, you're right." He stared out at the sky, unsure of what the future was going to look like. "I...I had a rough start. I've always been so obsessed with winning. At the start, I had to win, no matter what, and that meant running this game until I dropped dead, but obviously that backfired." He smirked. "You're not so clean yourself either. During the slander challenge, I found one of your confessionals that said you were so busy with the Disaster Dome you forgot about the money."

The curious girl chuckled nervously at the call-out. "I suppose that I might have said something like that," she agreed. "How could you not be interested in that though? It's a giant dome around an island. Do you know how much money that probably cost? That's probably why all our challenges were on the low-key side, because of all that prep time. They probably have an underground chamber of scientists too! No way Chris or Chef did that coding, neither of them have that background!"

"You're right, but I'm sure you would have found something like that too," Ethan reminded her. He stood up with a yawn. "Well, now that you're all riled up about the secret scientist chamber, I'm going to get some sleep before I have to beat you in the finale tomorrow." Kara looked offended that he had phrased it like that, but let that slide. "Not to make my chances lower, but I suggest you sleep too."

"Yeah, yeah, I'm going to," the curious girl shot back. "Just know that I picked you because I thought you were the least threatening between you and Paul. I intend to show you why tomorrow." With that, she walked over to her cabin too, and tried to sleep any amount before the big day tomorrow, but things were so tough with the million just around the corner.

Ethan: "The finale is here..." he said with a smile. "I have a lot of people to be thankful for. Madison saved me from going down a spiral of villainy this season, even if she doesn't know she was the reason. Norm stayed by my side and worked with me when Jonathan came after me. Even Paul and Kara were great helps to me when I needed them to be, but now I have to do this last part on my own." He shrugged. "I know I'm done scheming for votes now, but I still want to pull off one last surprise."

Kara: "Despite the conflicts and chaos on my team and in the merge, I find myself here at the finale," she pointed out. "Flora was an excellent leader, Kayla was a great support system at the start, and even Paul managed to be useful once or twice for me. Luna helped for a bit, then she sort of lost it..." She sighed. "If I want to win, I need to figure out a crafty way to take Ethan down. Or maybe I don't...since that's exactly what he was expecting."

In the morning, the two of them were greeted to a surprising sight as they walked out of the cabins. Both of them found themselves face-to-face with Karon Island's very own chaos harbinger. Quaoar stood in front of each of them, the sword demon still wearing the black cloak despite the fact both of them had seen him without it. "Morning, finalists," he said to the two of them. "After today I'm out of a job...for now. So, my last order is to bring you two to the top of Karon Island."

Quaoar began to walk slowly up the path to the top of Mount Karon, with the other two in tow. They both still seemed so surprised to see Quaoar casually walking up with them. Well, casually to a point, he still had his cloak on which covered most of his appearance. "So...what did you mean when you said, 'for now'?" Kara questioned the sword demon.

Quaoar rolled his eyes as he continued to walk in front of them. "You don't get to ask me questions, girl, we went over that," he reminded her. "And you," he said to Ethan without looking back at him. "You probably don't care that much either if we're being honest." Ethan shrugged nonchalantly, indicating that Quaoar was right on the money with that assumption, which surprised Kara. "Bottom line that both of you need to know, is you haven't seen the last of me."

"Well, today we're seeing the last of this island," Ethan reminded him. "Today's the finale, so after that we're going to be going home." He processed what Quaoar had said before a bit more. "So...is there another season? Is that what you mean?" Quaoar did not respond that time. Ethan seemed to get it. "Well, everyone will know who you are if you try and pull anything in the future, so maybe you'll lose the dumb cloak." Again, Quaoar rolled his eyes.

Quaoar: "Those kids ask too many or not enough questions," the sword demon complained as he put a hand to his face. "Doesn't matter, I've done my job. Once I drop the kiddos off I'm off to hang in the cave for the rest of the day. This show is exhausting, and there's no one worth my time anymore."

Once the finalists arrived at the top of Mount Karon, they saw Chris and Chef waiting for them on the top. A set of bleachers was behind them, large enough to hold just under twenty people. "Welcome, finalists!" Chris announced excitedly as the final two nervously approached him. "We have quite the challenge for you today, but first, a word of congratulations. It takes a lot of effort to make it here, and it has been quite some time since a season this large. In fact, you two have bested more people than any other finalist other than the very first season." When he put it that way, Kara and Ethan looked impressed with themselves.

Chef then pressed a button on a giant mobile control panel he had wired to the top of the mountain. Kara looked interested in that too. The bleachers started to whir, and out of the top appeared all the eliminated contestants sitting there. "Presenting from the Happy Hens!" Chris announced, "Gretchen, Chad, Hannah, Madison, Sarah, Juan, Norm, and Jonathan!" Chris cleared his throat. "Due to still being involved in a...situation, Angie is not with us for today."

Gretchen looked super excited to be in the episode again, while Chad sat passively. Hannah was constantly reaching over Madison and Sarah to try and reach Juan, but only Sarah was helping him block the social media freak, while Madison stayed curled up in her sweatshirt to avoid the chaos. Norm tiredly looked at the group, unsurprised by the results, while Jonathan had an angry scowl on his face. "That should be me up there," he complained.

"Whatever helps you sleep at night," Chris told the brutal lover. "Bunnies played out a little better, all of them are actually here!" He gestured to the Bouncing Bunnies area. "Welcome back to Sheldon, Daniel, Alexa, Randall, Flora, Helio, Kayla, Luna, and Paul!" Over at that section, Sheldon and Kayla simply looked angry at the results of the finale, Randall, Helio, and Daniel were watching excitedly while Alexa passively stared at Randall. Flora worked on trying to comfort Luna some more as Paul looked at the finalists with a hint of spite.

Kayla yawned at the finalists. "Someone who betrayed me and someone who, with all due respect, I saved her from being targeted by being a worse human being. I carried them both here on my back!" She she noticed Sheldon rolling his eyes at her comment. "Got something to say Pencil?" The brat tried to initiate a fight, but Flora blocked the attempt.

Chris rang the air horn to get the Bunnies back in line. "Enough!" He called out to them. "This is not your show, it's mine!" Chris turned back to the finalists as he put the monitor in front of them on. "In this final challenge, you have one very simple goal. There is a singular paintball gun remaining on the entire island. Your goal is to find it and take out your opponent with it."

The monitor lit up with a bunch of locations around the island. "Last night, we installed some new places around the island to check out, and unlocked a few others." He started to point to a bunch of the locations. "These points of interest may or may not have the gun you're looking for, but they might also come with things to help you out, or certain advantages, such as gaining an additional helper, or giving the other team Gretchen as a helper." The klutz laughed a the joke with a few other people, but it was very clear she did not get it.

Chris pointed then to the audience they had with them. "Each of you will start with two helpers. Since Kara won the previous two challenges, we're not giving her much more of an advantage already." He looked at Ethan. "Ethan, choice is yours to pick the first helper, then Kara gets her next two, and you'll pick again after her." Ethan nodded at the instructions he was given.

The anti-villain surveyed the cast of contestants. "I need people to compliment my strengths and pull something off," he said analytically. "I pick...Norm." Norm seemed unsurprised by his selection and walked down to join his friend. "I know you hate running and physical challenges, but I need your smarts that I was planning on losing to initially."

It then switched to Kara's turn to pick both of her helpers. "Okay..." she said nervously as she looked around. "I could probably get some synergy going on my end, so I want Kayla." The brat had a smug grin as she got up and walked down to join her sister, glaring at Ethan the whole walk over. "Then...someone else who might be useful...she glanced at Luna, who was clearly losing it already. Kara shook her head. "Not her, and Norm's gone...I need some more brainpower too." She sighed. "I want Sheldon."

Ethan let out a huff, sounding like he was going to pick him too. "It's only natural that my superior intellect is being chosen to take down those others," the obnoxious nerd claimed with a smug smirk that put Kayla's to shame. The smaller boy glanced over at Kayla. "I only hope that this impudent child does not interfere with your acquisition of the million dollars."

Kayla tried to swat at Sheldon, but Kara fended her off, already looking to regret her helper choice. Chris laughed. "Oh, that's cute," he said as he watched them. "Kara, I don't normally ask this, but are you sure you want Sheldon?" Kara watched as the two helpers of hers engaged in a small slap fight, which Kayla won easily, putting the nerd on the ground. Kara sighed and nodded. "Your funeral. Ethan, you're up. Pick your second."

"I could have sworn she'd pick someone more opposed to me. I wanted Sheldon..." Ethan said with a grunt. He looked at who was left. "Well, if Sheldon's out, maybe I should follow suit and make a pick of someone who's opposed to a majority of your team...I pick...Luna." Norm gasped as the psychic smirked and strutted forward to join Ethan's group. "Sorry, Norm, promise me you two will work together." The genius sighed and nodded.

Chris laughed. "What a set of pairs! They're going to be busy fighting each other instead of helping you! Which trouble in paradise pairing will be funnier?" He then faced the finalists and threw something at them. "Here! Mini maps of the island with your locations! Remember, you need to hit the other with one paintball to win everything, so don't mess up, you can't afford it!"

Chris then turned his face very sinister. "Oh, I almost forgot!" the host said in a maniacal laugh. He pointed to Chef, who rolled his eyes and pressed a button on the mobile control panel. At that moment, the island began to shake. "Today's disaster is a volcanic eruption!" Chris said gleefully. "Lava is going to keep rising here until this challenge is over, so you better get moving quickly!" He rang the air horn. "Go!" And just like that, the final challenge was off.

Luna: "Sound logic," she said tensely. "It is true I am opposed to most of my team, and since Ethan saw my fear trial, he knows why I hurt. Maybe he'll help me out if I help him. That's the only thing I can hope for now."

Norm: "Working with Ethan was going to be easy," he boasted. "But...now that Luna's here...I hope we can all find a solution that works itself out. I would like to end up on the winning team, even without the money."

Kayla: "I thought for sure Kara would have picked Jonathan since he hated Ethan so much, but I guess I do too. I might not be in this finale, but I sure am going to make sure my family still wins!"

Sheldon: He chuckled haughtily. "Naturally I was sought out by the two finalists," he boasted. "I am the smartest and most capable player, despite my poor rating. Kara will come to find solace in her choice. I can't say the same for her other, less desirable helper decision."

Both finalists and their teams ran off in different directions, all six of the participants panicked at the idea of lava reaching them at some point. "Are they seriously gonna drown this place in lava?" Kayla asked with a groan. "Chris must be stupid. It doesn't matter though, because even despite you picking Pencil, I'm ready to help you out as much as I need to."

Sheldon sighed. "And yet, despite you only being wanted by one candidate, I am somehow the inferior pick. Please settle your facts." He took a look at the mini map that Kara had with her. "Allow me to inspect our nearby locations." The obnoxious nerd studied over the map for a second before looking up at his finalist. "The nearest thing to us is the fire temple that was recently installed. It is halfway through a descent down the mountain. What say you in attempting that?"

Kara hesitated. "That sounds very dangerous...but also exactly where Chris would put the singular paintball gun left. He wouldn't make it easy." She turned to Sheldon. "Lead the way, but tell me about the other locations." The nerd grinned with excitement as Kayla sighed heavily and put a hand on her face, not excited for the ramblings that were about to happen.

Sheldon cleared his throat. "The control room was opened up, which is the next nearest location. I would assume there might be computer access or something else of that nature there. There appears to be a contraption installed in the mines as well, but due to the distance from the start, I propose that going there is a trick and we would be submersed in lava within minutes. Finally, deep in the woods is some sort of junk pile. I suppose it could house the weapon, but all my predictions lie with the temple."

The three continued to walk to the temple as Kayla rolled her eyes. "So all of this hinges on you then, Pencil," she reminded him. "If this gun isn't in the fire temple that showed up in the middle of the night, then you are officially the worst-" she caught sight of Kara glaring at her. The brat sighed and waved her arms around facetiously. "Ugh, fine. Go team," she added dully.

Kara: "I'll be relying a lot on both the helpers today," she explained. "But Sheldon's the one who can create a good plan. I agree that the most dangerous place houses the weapon we need, which means that I'll probably need Kayla for that portion. I just hope Ethan isn't being just as careful."

Ethan's team arrived at the bottom of the mountain before deciding to come up with a plan. "The lava is rising relatively intensely," Luna pointed out as she glanced out in the distance, trying to keep her cool at the same time. "My thought is that we go anywhere we need to go down low first and make sure a contingency plan is ready should we run out of time."

Ethan nodded with a grin. "That's exactly what I was thinking. Norm, do you agree?" Norm rolled his eyes, but nodded, clearly unhappy with how he had the same idea as his ex. "We need a contingency plan. I want to try these two locations." He pulled out his map and pointed to the junk pile and the control room. "We are very close to the junk pile now. I doubt it has the gun, but it will have a backup plan, in case we fail." He sighed. "At least...it should. We need to go there quickly."

The three of them arrived at the junk pile, which had a ton of trash and other various scrap pieces lying around. Norm inspected the area. "Looks like we're the first ones here." He gathered up some metal and a bunch of tires. "A lot of this looks like a red herring, but we could create some sort of counter force with this stuff...not here though. Not in the middle of nowhere."

"Metal and rubber..." Ethan said slowly as he looked it over. "Norm, do you think you could melt that down somewhere else?" The genius nodded with a cocky smirk. "Great, I think we'd find the technology we need in the control room, which we need to hurry to. That lava will get there any second." He gestured to the two of them. "Come on, I think this is going to work!"

The two trailed behind Ethan, nether as fast as the anti-villain himself. "What's wrong?" Norm asked the psychic sternly. "Having trouble keeping up? This should be easy for someone as physically gifted as you." Luna grunted angrily at him. Norm tossed the two large tires to her. "Stop pulling yourself back. And carry those, you're better at that than I am." Ethan sighed as he heard the two start arguing again.

Ethan: "Luna is a very strong player, and I'm grateful to have her on my side," he said firmly. "Likewise, Norm is a really great friend of mine, and I'm happy he's here too. But, I need them to focus on winning for a bit longer, just until the countermeasure is ready and we go find that gun." He then gasped. "Although, if I have the countermeasure ready...maybe that big surprise can still happen."

Team Kara arrived in front of the new fire temple, which was spewing out fire from the entrance, which was shaped like a giant mouth. "Well, that's not creepy at all," Kayla mentioned. She tried to see further in, but it was pitch black in there. "Why's it so dark in there? I figured the temple of fire would have, like...fire." Sheldon rolled his eyes at her. "You were so thinking the same thing, Pencil!"

Kara stepped right to the point the fire was spewing. "There's a platform on the other side," she called out. "I'm...I'm jumping through." With a deep breath, the curious girl leapt through the fire fountains, and landed on the platform unharmed. "Wow, I made it." As she landed, torches began lighting up the room, which she then saw was much more perilous than she had anticipated.

The paintball gun she needed was in fact there, but it was guarded by a series of traps. Swinging axes, various arrow traps, and all of the platforms inside the room had the appearance that they were floating. On top of all of that, the floor opened up to reveal its own small pool of lava underneath that was rising. "Well, our hunch was dead on," Kara admitted, "but we might be dead after we're done in here." She looked back at her helpers. "Are you coming?"

"I would advise that the two of us keep watch," Sheldon offered. "Should this event not result in a rather large showdown somewhere, we should prepare to hold off an ambush from Ethan and his allies." He turned to Kayla. "That is why you are here. You are the muscle of this operation, so prove to me you are capable of your job just as I have proven capable in-"

"Give it a rest, Pencil!" Kayla yelled. She groaned. "Fine, Pencil and I will hold the temple down. You grab that thing so we can win before we're all cooked in that lava." Kara nodded, moving through the arrows as fast as she could. Once she got the rhythm of how the traps launched their weapons, she was able to traverse it pretty easily. She then saw all the platforms she needed to jump across to get further.

The curious girl leapt to the first platform, and landed on it safely. "Okay...just to do that a few more times." As she looked out, Kara noticed that the platforms got smaller in size as they went through. "Carefully now..." The curious girl made a jump to the third platform, where she was barely able to stand with two feet on there. "I have to run for it!" Kara used one foot on the final platforms, and landed at the end of it with a dive. She let out some deep breaths as she mentally recovered from that incident.

Right in front of Kara was now the paintball gun. "This is a huge advantage we get now," Kara said with a smile. "I'll have to be disarmed and hit to even have a shot at losing now." She swiped the gun, and as soon as she did, her way in dropped right into the lava. "I guess it's the other path then," the curious girl said with a sigh. She glanced at her new exit path, a straight sprint with axes swinging all over the place sporadically.

Kara approached the dash with a gulp. "This won't be the same rhythm thing as the arrows." She then noticed that the lava was rising faster. "I guess I'll have to go for it!" Kara bolted as fast as she could through the dash, only pausing when she thought she was going to be sliced in half. She pushed through as much as she could, the final axe clipping some of her hair as she dove out. "Phew!" she said with a smile as she held the paintball gun outside the temple. "I think that's enough risk taking for a day."

Seconds after, the entire fire temple collapsed into rubble. Kayla helped her sister up. "Two good things," the brat told her. "One, you only lost like, an inch off of your hair, so you still look like me, aka good." She winked. "Number two, no sign of Ethan and his lackeys, so they went to the wrong spot." She looked around. "But, that means we don't know where they are." She pointed to the top of Mount Karon. "Let's go up there where it's safe, and we can let them come to us." Kara nodded, and the three members of Kara's team ran up to the top of Mount Karon, awaiting her opponent.

At the control room, Ethan, Norm, and Luna entered without much issue. But, there was nothing new of note in there. "This seems to have backfired," Norm admitted as he looked around the space. "Other than this lava that is funneling down to create the rising levels, we can't really do anything with what we collected." Then, his eyes lit up. "Or, we can almost ruin ourselves trying."

"That is an option worth considering," Luna chastised. "You would take such a risk too if it was your million dollars." She pointed to the lava tube. "I can shatter that with your help, Ethan. From there, we can melt down what we have and create something to reflect back whatever gets thrown our way. We just need to hope that fire temple has the paintball gun, and that Kara has not already gotten it."

"Knowing her, it'd be the first place she checked," Ethan said. "That means everything hinges on this." Ethan and Luna beat upon the glass until eventually, it opened, spilling the lava into a small pool outside it. "Okay, we have limited time, melt the metal and make it circular...but leave some for me." He then grabbed the tires. "I'm throwing these in too, hold your breath as best you can."

As the rubber began to melt the fumes were already coming up. "I got metal," Norm called out. He went to a circular pipe and began shaping the hot metal around it with some stone he found earlier. With the same rocks, he began creating a rounded piece of metal and a small stick attached to one end. "Luna, hurry up with your end of it! We're running out of time in here!" The lava was filling up more of the room and forcing the contestants to back away.

Luna growled at the genius. "Mine needed to be melted, not just hot!" Eventually, the rubber was hot enough, and Luna took Norm's metal piece and morphed the inside of the circle with the rubber. She then used some small sticks to separate it out some. "Ethan, how are you doing?" Ethan gave them a thumbs-up. "Okay, we're done, we need to get higher up before the actual lava gets to us as well!" The three ran out of the room with much less than they started with.

Ethan looked at what the two had made. "It should do the trick," Norm told him. "With the tension amount I calculated earlier, this should reflect a paintball if we need to. But, if Luna messed up her execution of it, then we're all toast." Luna shot him a dirty look. "And you have...a secret third thing?" Ethan nodded. "Okay, so now we hunt down Kara."

Ethan shook his head. "That's what she's doing already. We have to assume we have to defend and that she has the paintball gun already. That's why I spent so long on this. I know that this is our best bet. We need to be ready for when she shows up, not us." He pointed up to Mount Karon. "We go there, and we wait for her." He turned to them both. "Go to the bleachers. Say that the control room's punishment was that it took both of you away from me." The two nodded and went ahead of him, upset that they now had to walk back by themselves together.

Luna: "I let hope blind me," she finally admitted. "I thought I would get more from him, but I suppose I was wrong. Maybe trying to calm down today was a good move. At least I'll be away from Norm now. If he was on my team like that again, I don't know what I'd do."

At the top of Mount Karon, Kara was patiently waiting as she held the paintball gun tightly in her hands. She looked around for any signs of Ethan, but the only notion was that he was in the control room, and that his helpers had returned. "So...now what?" Alexa asked in boredom from the bleachers. "She has the gun, it's not like it'll be easy to beat her."

Madison heard that and shook her head. She glanced out in the distance. "I know he has to have something planned..." she said hopefully as she continued to search for him. Then, she caught sight of Ethan on his way. "It's him!" she said excitedly. Her small volume increase caught the attention of others, forcing her to squeak and hide back in her hoodie.

Kara then saw Ethan approaching with something in his hand. "Did...he make a sword?" the curious girl asked herself as she aimed the paintball gun at him. "You know this is already over, right?" Ethan held up the sword, and as Kara took a shot, Ethan blocked it with the sword, a big smirk on his face. "You can block all you want, but eventually, you'll miss." She took another shot, but Ethan blocked it again.

"I knew you'd have it!" he said with a smile. "And behold! I made my own weapon instead! If I get you with this, then I'll win! I'll finally win after all I had to do to get here!" Kara took two more shots, but Ethan dodged the first and blocked the second, his metal sword starting to turn orange from the paintballs that have been constantly hitting it.

Chris clapped as he saw the two. "Wow, what a finale this is!" he said excitedly. "He couldn't get the weapon, so he made his own!" He turned to Ethan. "I love this, but you know that it can't just be your weapon covered in paint. You have to use the paintball itself, not the remnants. It's gotta explode on her for it to work." Kara watched as the joy drained from Ethan's face.

Ethan sighed as he looked at the sword, which was halfway covered in paint. "Well, I guess there goes my master plan," he admitted with a defeated look on his face. He looked at Kara. "I was going to keep blocking and then hit you with this and get the paint on you, but I guess that wasn't going to work anyway." He lowered his weapon and looked at her sorrowfully. "Take the shot."

The curious girl watched Ethan's plan unravel in front of him with a surprised look. "Put the sword down," Kara told him. "I know you enough to know that you always have backups, because I was one myself. So, throw the sword away." Ethan again, sighed in defeat, and tossed the sword further away than he could reach. "Sorry it had to end like this, it feels kind of anticlimactic."

Kara took one final shot, and gasped as soon as she squeezed the trigger and saw Ethan reach behind his back. He pulled out the makeshift racket that Luna and Norm had made, and swung at the paintball, aiming right at Kara. "Got it!" he shouted as the racket fought the momentum of the paintball. Eventually, something happened and caused the end of the game...

...the paintball shot right back and hit Kara square in the chest. It was dead silent for a minute before Chris finally broke the silence. "Game over!" he shouted excitedly. "In a twist, Ethan reflects the paintball and hits Kara, which means he wins Total Drama Karon Island, and the million dollars!" The bleachers began unloading to congratulate either finalist on the hard effort they put in.

Madison ran up to Ethan and kissed him on the lips excitedly. "You did it! I knew you had a plan, I was rooting for you even when it looked like you were giving up!" She smiled. "I'm so glad you never gave up, and you did it! You won!"

Norm walked up to him to congratulate him too. Ethan glanced back to see Luna staying by herself in the bleachers, Flora with her as well to help. "Well, looks like Luna isn't completely useless," he said with a laugh. "I honestly didn't think you'd do it. How does it feel, finally winning after all of that?"

Ethan paused for a second. "I feel...regular. It's funny, I chased this whole season trying to win because I thought I needed to, and now here I am, finally with it, and it feels like any other day." He sighed. "I guess true joy comes from having a ton of supporters, no matter what I wanted. Maybe winning isn't as cracked up as I thought, but I just wish I didn't cause such destruction on the way there."

As they were celebrating, Kayla walked over to help Kara get the paint off of her shirt. "Well, I guess we should have planned that they were going to forge a tennis racket," she said with a laugh. "A double weapon where the sword was a red herring the whole time. I guess it wasn't meant to be. He took both of us out."

Kara nodded. "I still think I did way better than I expected." She smiled at her sister. "Plus, I guess if I can't win, then you have to just work twice as hard if we get another chance so that we can win something finally." Kayla laughed, but there was a newfound determination on her face as she heard her sister say that to her.

Ethan: "To say that the hero won would be wrong," he said. "I certainly didn't play like one, and while I wasn't exactly punished in the game for it, I was certainly punished throughout it. I'm glad Kara got the chance to make the finale too. At least I kept that promise."

Kara: "So close too," she said with a sigh. "I should have known he was using that sword as a fake-out. He never gave up that easily when we worked together." She shrugged. "Well, if Quaoar was right, I'll have another shot. Maybe I can win then."

Chris, Chef, and the nineteen present campers, along with Quaoar, all boarded a large boat as the lava began to finally sink back down. "Well, we finally did it, the end is here, and I am sick of this heat! We should probably go underwater!" He laughed. "But, we have our winner, and that means that we are done! Where will we go next? Who will win next? Find out soon, on Total! Drama! Karon Island!"

Hi! If you have read the original Karon Island, you know that this is the canon ending of the finale! More notes later, but please enjoy the alternate ending before we talk, because there's a lot to say. Here it is:

...the paintball's momentum shattered the tension on the net, and exploded all over Ethan instead. It was silent for a bit, and some looked to see where the paintball landed. Eventually, Chris broke the silence. "Game over!" he shouted excitedly. "In a twist, Ethan's reflection plan failed, which means Kara wins Total Drama Karon Island, and the million dollars!" The bleachers began unloading to congratulate either finalist on the hard effort they put in.

Kayla was the first one to see Kara. "You did it!" she said excitedly as she hugged her sister. "I guess I'll have to one-up you by winning an even larger season. You beat, what, nineteen people? That's pretty impressive, especially considering one of them was me."

Kara looked super excited to win. "I...I thought I was done for! I guess their plan didn't work!" She smiled as she looked around and noticed the lava falling back down. "And, on the plus side, no one died and I know all about the secrets this island has too."

Ethan looked slightly defeated for a second as Madison went up to hug the anti-villain. "I'm...I'm sorry you didn't win," she said solemnly. "I know you really wanted that. Are you...doing okay?"

Ethan nodded. "I'm...okay." He laughed. "It's funny, I was so dead-set on winning, and now that I lost, I don't feel any different. Maybe through all this, I didn't actually need to win. I guess that's something good I learned. I just wish I didn't cause such destruction on the way there."

Kara: "A million bucks and a bunch of island secrets! This has truly been one of the greatest experiences I've had. And, if Quaoar was right, we'll have a whole new season with a whole new batch of secrets."

Ethan: "I guess karma finally got me for Chad, Daniel, and everyone else I caused to get eliminated through Jonathan," he said with a shrug. "But, that just means next time I can work harder to win my way- without letting anyone else suffer by my hand."

Wow, and after all of that, I have finished a story that was already finished from the start. Let's talk about the main finalists, and what I did differently with them:

- Kara this season became more of a main character, workings her alliance more with Luna (or trying and failing), turning on Kayla in the merge, and being a more active member overall. I needed to elevate her more to finalist status than she was before, which was nowhere near it.

- Ethan got toned down. He was too strong, so a lot of his failings were added in, and a lot of his feats got pawned off to Norm. I made him more in character throughout too, and made him have a proper arc that actually made it through the finale.

Chapter changes, because there's some big changes:

- I swapped helpers around. Sheldon, a fan favorite, had to stay in, but I needed a new plan with Ethan, so he went to Kara, and Ethan got Luna, which created, in my opinion, a far more comedic set of helpers.

- Both finalists are OOC for the entire finale in the original. I re-wrote nearly every interaction in this finale, because by god were they bad before. I can't even explain it, you gotta read it.

- Ethan's strategy, while the same conceptually, got redone. This one is way more realistic and doesn't seem...I don't know...stupid? I would use the word stupid for what the other one was.

Overall, this was the hardest chapter to redo. It was severely rushed before, and taking my time on it actually made things work out. I'm pretty happy with how this season ended and how things improved. I think the best improvements came from Bunny characters like Flora, Paul, and Kayla. The characters who did not change still had big touch-ups to make them better too. Let me know what you thought of this season in the reviews!

If you are a first-time reader, congrats, there is a sequel, and it's already done, and so are the next three after that! You'll want to check out (in this order) Submerged, Fiery Passion, Cultivated Will, and Power Peak. But, since I changed some big plots here, enjoy this spoiler guide below to help you out!

Anyway, that is all I have! Please leave a review, and I will see you once Ancient Abodes is underway!

Karon Re-write Spoiler Guide! (Spoilers...duh)

- Ethan and Quaoar are believed to be the same person by everyone, because until the end of the Karon trilogy, that is how I wrote them. Seasons 4 and 5 eventually change this, but until then, they will be doing a lot of things...under contract by Chris.

- Quaoar mentions a secret he knows about Luna. This will eventually be revealed, but until then, it will not be mentioned again, because it was not planned to be that way for quite some time. Luna was a very different character back in the day.

- Season 2 is an SYOC. The creators are only credited at the end, which I feel bad about, since things were kinda different back then. Iris and Quaoar are mine, and all new faces are from someone else, and their names are also outdated for some, since some people changed their usernames since then.

Finally, there is a special at the end of Season 1 that I did not rewrite. Here are the big points from that:

- Basically it's a banquet and Jonathan, Topher, and Blaineley team up and shred a bunch of contracts. This forces Chef to save the day, but since human Ezekiel is the only canon to not lose their contract, he gets to come back for another round. Alexa and Randall sign on as aftermath hosts.

- Luna says she knows something about Norm. Norm meets Dawn at the special and admits he is attracted to her.

- At the reunion special, Angie makes her first post-elimination appearance. She reveals that she was told she has a sister somewhere. The woman on the helicopter is her mother, which is not mentioned at all, but is eventually clarified.

- Juan reveals at the end that he is going to be much more dangerous the next season, and that the gloves are coming off.

That is all! There is some time until this goes live, so I will update everything as I need to. Thank you all for giving this series a shot, I don't think it'll disappoint.
