On his first official day on the job, President Peralez sat down in the Oval Office with a cup of coffee in hand. He started looking over some of the files that were already on his desk.
"What's our current situation?" He asked his advisors.
"First thing we have going on is Yorinobu Arasaka is requesting that we honor our agreement with him and send him aid in his Civil War." His Secretary of State said.
"Send in a team of Special Forces disguised as Mercenaries. Keep USA involvement at a minimum and end it quickly. If they get caught we will not be sending help as I want to distance the USA from this as much as possible."
"Got it."
"What else?"
"We brought this up to President Richardson but at the time he didn't think we were in any position to take care of the issue. However on the moon there are some Millitech hold outs who refuse to recognize authority. Dealing with the issue would give us an official foothold on the moon from which we can push to bring the moon back into the Union." General Bradly said.
"If you come up with a decent plan and timeline to deal with the Militech Remnants then I will approve it. However, annexation of the entire moon will take a bit more effort than what my 4-8 years will allow."
"Understood, I will start drawing up the plans immediately." General Bradley then leaves the room.
What's next?"
"Congress just passed a bill that's supposed to sharpen farming regulations to prevent mono-cropping and other practices that damage the soil." The Secretary of Agriculture says as he places a data pad on the President's desk.
"I guess reading this will be the next thing I do for a bit."
"Another issue we have to deal with is our infrastructure. The only thing the NUSA worked on was a high speed rail system starting in Chicago with the end goal of finishing in California. However it was never completed for obvious reasons." The Secretary of Transportation said. "However I have a massive plan to not just rebuild, but overall our entire Freeway system."
"What is this Plan?" The President asked intrigued.
"The original plan for the American Freeway system was inspired by the German Autobahn, however, it fell short of that. I say we don't just meet that original goal, we surpass it."
"In order to achieve something like this, we will have to get all of the States on board."
"I already been talking with the Governors of Texas, Florida, New York, Michigan, Night, Alaska, NorCal and SoCal. If I can get them on board it wouldn't take long to get the other States on board."
"Good. Plus we could use this to help bring back the much needed industrial might to the country."
"I was just about to bring that up." The Secretary of State said. "If we are going to compete economically with Europe and Asia we must be able to out produce them. Plus if we are ever going to maintain any kind of dominance in space we need the ability to mass produce spacecraft."
"Agreed, and I think we should work on developing reusable ground to space vehicles."
"You are absolutely right. What we have access to right now is too limited. If we are ever going to be competitive in space our entire air force should be space capable." The General of the Air Force says.
"The Navy could also use some love as the NUSA neglected us in favor of the Army." Says the Fleet Admiral.
"The Navy is definitely going to receive the same overhaul that the other branches are going to get."
