Title: The Hitman's Body & The Letter V
Transcript Of Jerome Valentine's Recording:
I got to talk three witnesses today, including with Cornelius Slate about the missing Lutece case. My day was pretty good until I got home that is, then it was a different and bloody story. When I got home, my home was surrounded by Columbia police and clean up crews. My first thought that my home caught on fire, but that wasn't the case here though. When I walked up to the Chief of police who was there and started talking with him. He told me they found a body of a man in my house after somebody phoned him about hearing gun shots coming from my home. He asked me if I was the owner of the home, and I told him yes, I was. After that he started asking me your topical police questions, like where was I, what was I doing for the day, or if I knew the dead man by any chance. I told him the truth and he seemed to believe me; I asked him about the dead man, but he didn't answer my question though. He just said, "It's police business." I did ask him however, if the dead man had any jobs around Columbia by chance, he nodded and told me he was some sort of… hired gun for sale. I knew deep in my thoughts what that meant… he was a hitman. My mind shifted to two people right away, Comstock and Fink. I wasn't going to tell that to the Chief of police though, he and the rest of police in Columbia were Comstock's puppets, eyes, and ears of the city. I tried getting more answers from the police chief, but he just stood silent and didn't tell me anymore. Luckily for me, the body was removed from my home and the clean up crews finished doing their jobs inside of my house. After that, the police and clean up crews left me and home a couple hours later. When I got inside my home, everything looked normal and no items were missing, but an hour later though I noticed something on my kitchen table. There was a letter V craved into the wood of the table, my first thought went to the police and clean up crews, but the chances of them doing it though were very slim. I only knew a few names and groups that started with the letter V. I knew Vanessa started with V and the person who hired me to investigate Lutece's missing person's case. The other was the group of the Vox Populi led by Daisy Fitzroy. A group of militant underground insurgency people who opposed Comstock and his Founders. I'm not exactly sure what the Vox Populi want from me, but I can tell myself it isn't noble or good. So, it's better that I keep myself away from the Vox Populi, their intentions and goals maybe good, noble, and peaceful to some people, but to me. Their a group I simply cannot trust or work with.
