A truck is seen driving through the street. Soldiers are walking around, a dog is barking at them, Bruce is lying in his bed, his dog wines at him. The dog that was previously barking is now lying on a step.
"Is it dead?" Shuri asked. "Because it better not be."
"He's... they killed him." Bruce said, sadly. That dog had been his best and only friend for a long time.
Ross says to get a camera. A small camera slides in from underneath a door, it zooms in on Bruce's bed, his dog runs up to it. Ross says to get rid of the dog.
"You better not." Hope said.
The camera gets retracted. The door blows open. Bruce's dog starts barking. Blonsky shoots at Bruce's bed, then lifts up the covers only to find that he's not there. Blonsky says Bruce is on the move then he shoots the dog.
"Asshole, why would you do that!?" Peter said.
Bruce is climbing out of the window, he sees Martina showering, She screams.
"Oh!" Sam said. "That's awkward."
Ross asks where Bruce is.
Bruce is trying to calm Martina. Blonsky looks out the window and says Bruce is on the ground. Bruce looks back at Martina and thanks her, then he kisses her cheek.
"Well aren't you a charmer." Natasha commented. Bruce smiled, sheepishly.
He puts his hood up and runs across the street. He sees Blonsky and turns the other way, They start chasing him.
Ross is yelling at Blonsky, telling him to 'go!.'
"No, No." Shuri mocked.
Ross says not to lose Bruce. Bruce runs through a court where kids are playing a game, he hits the ball and continues running. The men chasing him continue through the neighborhood. Blonsky goes to shoot, but Bruce turns the corner.
"I thought they weren't supposed to shoot." Clint said.
He runs through the clothing lines and his hat falls off, one of the men steps on it.
"What did his hat ever do to you?" Ned asked.
Bruce lands on the roof of a building and starts running across the rooftops. His watch starts beeping, he stops in corner and looks at his watch '175 bpm'
"Oh no." Peter said. This didn't seem like a good time for a Hulk appearance.
Bruce does his breathing exercise, gets up and continues running. Someone shoots at him and the van pulls up in front of him, Ross steps out of it, Bruce keeps running.
Ross says to get behind Bruce.
A woman says that he is moving past one of their vehicles. Bruce runs into the guy from earlier.
"You just have the worst luck don't you?" Clint asked.
"Yeah." Bruce sighed.
Bruce throws the man over his shoulder. His friends help him up and start chasing Bruce as well.
"Dammit."
Ross asks where Bruce is.
Blonsky says he sees him.
Bruce is running through the locker rooms. He falls against one, his watch reads '187 bpm'
"That's not good." Okoye whispers.
The man from earlier shouts at Bruce, Bruce starts running through the factory he opens a door and the man appears behind it, his friends are behind him, they start shoving him around.
"Maybe- maybe you should stop that. Unless you wanna get hurt." Pepper said, referring to the guys shoving Bruce around. "No offence, Bruce."
Bruce says not to break the computer. They pin him against the wall.
One of them makes a comment about Bruce not being tough anymore and tells him to try the fancy moves on him.
"I mean... I would have." Bruce muttered.
Bruce says that him getting angry is bad. The man mocks him.
"Um, no... I don't think that's true." Tony said.
Bruce watch reads '190 bpm'. Bruce says that they don't understand and that something bad is going to happen. The man punches him in the stomach. Bruce's watch reads '200 bpm'. His eyes turn green and the watch breaks off.
Bruce cringed. How many times is he going to need to watch this happen? If he thought he was uncomfortable while it was happening to him, watching it was worse.
A man asks if everyone is seeing this. The man kicks him, Hulk rips him off the floor and throws him through the factory and roars.
A man says that they have a bogey.
"Not necessarily." Bruce said.
Ross says that the bogey is their target and to use every tranquiliser dart they have. The men start shooting, the tranqs bounce off of Hulk's back.
"Okay then."
Soldiers continue shooting at Hulk, he throws one of them into a wall. They still continue shooting, someone throws a grenade. Hulk growls out something that sounds like 'leave me alone'.
"Is he trying to... talk?" Fury asked.
"It would appear so." Maria answered.
Hulk shoves something toward the men. Blonsky continues shooting. Hulk's face appears on the screen and he growls, then rips something out of the ground and throws it at Blonsky it explodes.
"Whoa!"
Ross and Blonsky are talking in a room. Blonsky says that he knew something was different before he got the shot.
"Did he now?" Tony asked.
He takes put a picture and hands it to Ross, saying that Bruce had it on him and he asks if she's his girlfriend and suggests that she helps him.
Ross says that she is no longer a factor and that door was closed to him long ago.
"Betty is his daughter by the way... in case you were confused." Bruce said, dejectedly.
"Yikes." Quill hissed in sympathy. "That sounds like it sucks, dude."
Ross says Bruce wants to be alone.
"I didn't want to be alone, I needed to be alone there's a difference." Bruce said.
Ross tells Blonsky to see of Bruce has been talking to anyone. Blonsky asks if anyone wants to talk about what just happened because Bruce wasn't alone.
"Yes I was." Bruce said.
He says that something big was there, and tells Ross that the thing threw a forklift like it was a softball and says that it was the most powerful thing he's seen.
"And you took that personally, like it was a challenge or something." Bruce said. "And now look at you."
Ross says that the thing is gone.
Blonsky says that if Bruce knows what it is, he is going to track him down and put his foot on his throat.
"That wont work." Scott muttered.
Ross says that the thing was Bruce. Blonsky says that Ross is going to need to explain what he means by that. Ross says he doesn't have too.
"Um, you kind of do. Especially if you going to keep endangering people's lives." Natasha said. "No offence, Bruce."
"None taken." Bruce said.
Ross says that he did a good job, and that they're getting on a plane to go home.
Bruce is sleeping on a ground by a waterfall.
"Where are you now." Hope asked.
"Uh, Guatemala." Bruce answered.
He gets up. 'days without incident 153' appear on the screen, the number rapidly drops to 1.
"Damn." Bruce sighed.
Bruce walks through the woods, a truck appears on the road, he gets drivers attention. The truck stops, Bruce asks if the driver can help him.
The driver says he doesn't speak Portuguese.
"Oh."
Bruce asks where he is.
The driver says he's in Guatemala and that he's going to the next town.
Bruce asks for help.
The driver gives him a towel and asks where Bruce is going.
Bruce says he's going home.
"Well that was nice of him." Peggy said. "Not too many people are willing to help some person they find alone on the street."
Blonsky and Ross are walking. Blonsky says that he's run into bad stuff on missions before, and that he's seen good men go down because someone didn't let them know what they were running into.
"If he's trying to get Ross to tell him exactly what they're supposed to be doing, he's not gonna have much luck with that because based on what we've seen so far Ross barely knows, himself." Sam said.
Blonsky says he moved on because he's supposed to, and he says that this mission is a new level of weird.
"Well, he's not wrong." Bruce said. "I turn into a giant green monster when I'm stressed... it's pretty weird."
He says that he doesn't feel he needs to step away from it.
"You probably should have." Bruce said.
Blonsky says that if Ross is taking another hit at Bruce he wants in. And tells Ross that he should be looking for a team that is prepared and ready, because if Hulk appears again he's going to have a lot of professional men pissing themselves.
"Well, again, he's not wrong." Tony said.
Bruce is seen walking through the street. 'Chiapas, Mexico' appears on the screen. He sits by a pole, head down, hands cupped in front of him, a kid walks by and gives him some money, Bruce looks up.
"Nice kid." Natasha said.
Bruce is seen buying pants. He asks for stretchy pants. The saleswoman hands him a pair of stretchy pants. He is now sitting against a pole, flashes of Blonsky shooting appear in his mind, he jumps.
"Is that- do you sometimes get flashes of what you see as Hulk?" Bucky asked.
Bruce nodded. "Most of it's blurry, I don't get full pictures. It's terrifying."
Blonsky is sitting across from Ross' desk. Ross says that what he is about to tell Blonsky is sensitive information to both him and the army. He says that they have an infantry weapons development program and tells Blonsky that during world war 2 they started a subprogram for bio tech force enhancement.
"The super- soldier serum." Howard, Bucky, Steve and Peggy whispered.
"The government's been trying to recreate it ever since Captain Rogers here went down under the ice." Coulson.
Blonsky recognizes it as the super soldier program.
"Yeah, Ross is obsessed with super soldiers." Bruce said.
Ross says that he reactivated the program and that they want to use it in Blonsky.
"They're gonna make him a super-soldier just so he could potentially bring you in?" Steve asked.
He says that Bruce's work was early phase and it couldn't be applied to weapons but Bruce thought he was working on radiation resistance and that he never would have told Bruce what he was actually working on.
"They tricked you." Hank said in realization.
"They did." Bruce said. "And they're trying to punish me for it."
Ross says that Bruce was so confident in his work that he tested it on himself and that something went wrong. He then backtracks by saying that something went right.
"I'd say a bit of both." Tony said to himself.
Ross then says that Bruce's whole body is property of the US army.
"But... it's not." Ned said.
Blonsky says Bruce wasn't working on weapons, and that Ross was. Ross says that one serum they had was promising. Blonsky asks why Bruce ran. Ross says that he's a scientist and that he's not one of them.
"Um where would the army be right now without scientists?" Howard asked, rhetorically.
Ross asks Blonsky how old he is.
Blonsky tells him he's 39.
Ross says that the army takes a toll.
Blonsky agrees.
"It does." The army personnel(Fury, Steve, Sam, Rhodey, Bucky) agreed.
Ross tells him to get out of the trenches and that he should be a colonel now.
Blonsky disagrees and says that he's a fighter and he'll remain one for as long as he can.
"I get that." Sam said, sometimes it's a bit difficult to know when you should stop and walk away.
He says that if he took what he knows now and put it into his younger self that it would be someone he wouldn't want to fight.
"Makes sense, more knowledge and better physicality, I wouldn't want to fight that version of myself either." Rhodey said. "He'd whup my ass."
Ross says he could arrange something.
"Oh no. He's gonna give him a serum, isn't he." Steve asked.
"Yeah." Bruce said.
"This won't turn out well." Sam said.
