Chapter 139
Devil With A Blue Dress
Cameron was very pleased with the way the evening shaped up. She hadn't planned on the altercation at the mall. It was a surprise to her. It was something she might need to look further into.
As far as Jesse and Riley hitting it off with Gail and Holly, it remained to be seen. She was sure Gail and Jesse would at least try a few things. There was no way to know how far they would go.
She wasn't so sure about Holly and Riley. Holly was more reserved than Gail. She needed to think about Holly's response to the man who offended Gail. Holly was going to terminate him before he could look down the front of her dress. It indicated she wasn't going to be very receptive to much.
She took a moment to look around where she was at. Now she didn't have a ride home since both of the SUVs were gone. She wondered if she could spark a little action. Action seemed to have a way to find her. The night was still young.
She paused at the door before she went out. She stood there and looked around. She wanted to make sure it was obvious she was 'alone'. She noticed a lot of faces turned her way. She felt she made her point. If there were any future Scavengers, they should show themselves shortly. It would be their actions which determined their fate, not her. She would simply administer the sentence they gave themselves. The nature of the infraction would determine the punishment.
Cameron smiled and walked into the night. Her high heels created a rhythmic sound as she walked. They sounded her presence as she moved through the night. They were a clear indication to anyone, exactly where she was at.
Her shapely blue dress adorned figure was stunning in the moonlight.
Cameron was in a few of these situations before. They all ended the same way. She wondered how long it would be until she picked up some 'company'. It wasn't very long at all. She hadn't even gone a block yet. She wondered if there would be more than one group in competition to follow her. It happened before on several occasions. She allowed them to fight it out among themselves first. She then dealt with the 'winners'. They became 'losers' very quickly.
Soon there were the sounds of other footsteps behind her.
Cameron quickened her pace. It would be a clear indication as to what their motive was. She wanted to make sure the bait was taken.
It was.
She heard the other footsteps speed up to match her pace. A smile appeared on her face. The stage was set.
Cameron knew it was going to be a good night. More potential Scavengers would be dealt with. She planned to make the future a little safer. It wouldn't be much, but everything helped.
She reviewed her files of the street locations around the area she was headed. She continued her quick pace toward a secluded location.
It would be best if there were no witnesses to whatever she would need to do. It was usually as spectacular as it was terminal.
The smile on Cameron's face grew.
The hunters didn't realize they were the hunted.
John wanted to attack the location where they were. The recon showed the operation was more developed than they thought. He called the teams together and devised a new plan. It would involve switching some personnel in the teams. He believed it was the best choice for the new mission.
"Derek, Bob, and I will go in. Jim, Kyle, and Vanna will hold as the reserve force, and the blocking force." John said. "They will make sure we have a way out."
Vanna was more than a little upset about being switched to the other team. She didn't like being sidelined. She was sure John did it because she was a female. She felt she needed to say something. She doubted the same thing would have happened to Allison. Well, before she was pregnant anyway.
"John, I'm in your element. I should go with you, not Derek." Vanna said. "I can do everything as well. It's how teams are supposed to operate."
Vanna didn't want to be babied. She could pull her own weight. She could fight as good as the others. She may be a little out of practice, but she did it for years. Not only did she do it, she did it and survived. She inflicted plenty of damage upon the enemy.
Derek and Kyle looked at each other. It was obvious John wanted to keep Vanna and Kyle out of harm's way, they both knew it.
Kyle was sure it was more than just him being John's 'father'. He was sure it was about John's sibling on the way. He was aware John wouldn't want to answer to Sarah if anything happened to him.
John didn't want to get into a 'discussion' about his decision. He was the one in charge. He wanted to be as diplomatic, but firm as possible.
"Next time we can try it the other way. The decision has been made." John said. "We'll go with my plan. I need to assign the troops as I see fit. There's no way to know what else can occur."
John gave Vanna a long silent look.
Vanna knew John cared about her, at least as much as he could. It made being sidelined a little less painful. She really planned to push things next month when she would be able to conceive. She would hold what happened today over him as leverage. It might not be completely ethical, but it was what she wanted. She wanted to get past her past more than anything. It needed to happen on her terms.
John could see the way Vanna looked at him. He was sure the discussion wasn't over yet. He was sure he was going to hear more about it later on.
"Let's roll." John said.
He started toward the building with Bob and Derek.
The second element of the team waited and watched.
"Watch our flanks and six." Jim told Kyle and Vanna. "I'll monitor the building as well as their progress. John Henry will keep me posted. Keep in mind, we may run into action before they do."
Kyle didn't want them to get 'jammed up'. They were about to deal with a superior force. They did have the element of surprise on their side. He understood Jim's warning. He was still concerned about the team which actually went in.
"If they run into any trouble, I want to go down and back them up." Kyle said. "The sooner and harder we hit, the more likely it will be the enemy will fold."
Jim didn't want to see anyone get trapped inside of the building. They would make sure there was a way out if it was necessary.
"Affirmative…." Jim replied.
Vanna wanted to make her position and purpose clear. She didn't want to get sidelined a second time.
"We'll all go down and back them up together." Vanna said. "It's how teams work."
Jim and Kyle nodded. They were a team. Vanna was part of it.
Cameron set the trap. She took a few turns to make sure the 'mark' stuck with her. It was clear there was more than one. They made all the same turns she did. It was they who sealed their own fates by pursuing her.
She counted three people following her. One was talking on a phone. It was probably to set up an interception in front of her. It appeared it would turn into an exciting evening for her as well. She headed down a dark side street. It was best if there were no wandering eyes.
Once Cameron was around the corner, she slipped her high heels off. She ran rapidly down the street and turned into an alley. She moved down the alley and left her shoes sideways in front of a blind alley off to the side. It would look as if she slipped them off to run down the other alley. She went back across the main alley. She concealed herself behind a dumpster and waited. She figured the high heel shoes would sucker them into the 'dead end'.
She didn't have long to wait. A car pulled off of the main street in front of her and into the alley. It came from the direction she was headed. They attempted to block her path forward, or her escape. Since there was a car, they would probably try to take her with them. It would most likely work in any other instance, other than with a Terminator. It would only add to their punishment as it showed their intent.
The three men approached on foot from the way she came. The car cruised slowly forward towards her. She was hidden behind a dumpster. The driver of the car couldn't see her, nor would the people on foot be able to see her. She wanted them to find the shoes and 'go after her'. The only thing they would actually chase was fate.
The men spoke a Castilian dialect. They most likely were from South America based on inflection. She dealt with similar individuals before. It always ended rather negatively for them.
One of the men indicated he'd found the shoes. The car pulled up and stopped. Two men got out. Cameron figured her vehicle problem was solved. It was a nice car too. She smiled at the thought it would actually have the keys in it for a change.
The driver told the man, who apparently was the 'leader', no one went past him. It clearly left only one avenue of 'escape' for the female to take. It was the blind alley. They were emboldened by the fact she was trapped.
One man was instructed to wait by the car to watch for any interference. The leader assured him he would get a 'turn'. He said it would happen before they all went a second time. The leader also assured him it would be worth the wait once he saw her. He said the girl they were stalking was the best looking one yet. The other four men started down the 'dead end' alley.
Once they were out of sight, Cameron silently moved up and knocked the lookout unconscious. She broke his ankle in the process. He never heard or saw her coming. She was like a shadow at night. She was 'invisible'. She needed to slip behind enemy lines more than once. To sneak up on a street thug wasn't a problem.
She picked up her shoes and placed them on the hood of the car. She made sure the keys were still in the car. They were. She took them out of the ignition and dropped them inside of one of her high heeled shoes. Now it was time to play the part.
Cameron boldly walked down the center of the alley after the four men. They never looked behind them. They had their minds set on what they were going to do to her. Each of them thought of their own fantasy about what they would make her do.
She could hear them call for her to come out and 'play'. They said they weren't going to hurt her 'too bad', as they searched around boxes and trash cans. They said they were going to have some 'fun', then let her go. They said she was going to have a 'good time'….
She was pretty certain her idea of a 'good time' was different from their idea of a 'good time'. They would find out soon enough.
There was a single bare light bulb illuminating the area.
Cameron smoothed her dress to look immaculate and boldly walked under the light.
Cameron's blue dress looked brilliant in the light of the bare bulb. Her figure was perfect. The dress was very, very short and low cut. There was a lot on display. It was time to 'party'.
"Vamos de fiesta." Cameron said.
John and his team moved forward. They weren't sure what they were about to get into. There was a sentry up ahead.
Bob moved forward and took down the guard.
John heard his neck snap. He knew the Gray was no longer a threat. He wanted to keep the other team updated.
"We're in." John said over his com.
Bob led the advance. He was flanked by Derek and John.
It looked like the mission was going to go hot, very soon.
John notified Jim's team to be ready to move.
Vanna, Kyle, and Jim, waited and worried….
They all knew things were outside the original mission parameters. They were all ready to respond accordingly.
Jim told them he would lead if they needed to attack. He didn't need to remind them he was a Terminator.
Cameron smoothed her dress again in front of them to accentuate her perfect shape. She wanted to look alluring and enticing. She wanted to make sure the men were focused on her appearance, rather than on her.
The men turned and looked in disbelief.
Cameron lifted the side of her dress high along her thigh.
"Sin bragas." Cameron said.
It looked like she didn't have any underwear on, even though it was untrue. She did.
Two of the men approached. Things were going to be better than they expected. The Chiquita was HOT.
Cameron grabbed one man and threw him high into the air. She slammed him into the side of a building. Before he even hit the wall, the next man was on his way toward the opposite wall.
The other men couldn't believe what they just witnessed. It seemed impossible, but they just saw it happen. 'Seeing' was supposed to be 'believing'.
Cameron allowed her eyes to glow blue and then red.
It caused both of the next two men who approached her to hesitate. They weren't sure what they just saw. It looked scary and was intimidating. It looked unworldly. Even though they saw it, they couldn't believe it.
Before the remaining two men could move, Cameron moved up and slammed one man into the ground.
The remaining man fumbled around as he tried to pull a knife.
Cameron pulled it out of his hands and snapped it in two like it was a toothpick.
She threw each half into a separate dumpster.
Cameron looked at him as her eyes glowed red.
"Diablo con un vestido azul." The man muttered.
Cameron slammed him into a dumpster. It put a large dent into the metal. He didn't move after the impact.
She looked back at her handiwork with a sly smile, she then laughed out loud.
Cameron was still laughing as she walked away. She could have taken things a little farther. She didn't.
She smoothed her dress and walked back to the car. The other man was still lying on the ground. It didn't appear as if he would get up anytime soon. She removed her shoes from off of the hood. She took the keys for the car out of one of them.
Cameron looked around to see if anyone observed her, there was no one. She climbed into the car and turned the key. It immediately started.
She drove off. She adjusted the radio channel.
Cameron laughed at the song which came on next. She turned the volume up as she left.
'Devil With A Blue Dress On' by 'Mitch Ryder', blasted out of the speakers.
She cranked up the volume all the way. There was something about the song which touched her.
Cameron was ready for some more action. The night was still young. She considered driving through some of the 'bad parts' of town. Since she was in a captured vehicle it might provoke an incident of some sort. There was one place she wanted to check again.
John and his team encountered a second guard. He was fooling around with a pack of cigarettes. He was distracted with his vice. It was easy for Bob to take him down. He snapped his neck in an instant. They moved deeper into the complex.
Derek could see there were various types of machines. They knew they were up to something.
"What are they doing here?" Derek asked.
Bob looked at the machinery. He tried to determine its usage.
"It looks like they are going to set up an assembly line of some type." Bob said.
John figured it was bad news. The last thing they needed would be an assembly line for HK equipment or Terminators.
They decided to get a better look around. They would try and follow up on everything to get an idea of what was completed so far. They needed to know what they were up against.
Cameron thought about the earlier incident at the mall. It still bothered her. Maybe she would drive back there and see if anyone else was trying to get into people's cars. She knew it was a petty crime. It didn't really matter. It was still a crime. Crime led to escalation. The more someone got away with, the bigger crimes they committed.
She turned into the mall parking lot and parked in the parking structure. She would take the stairs to the top floor and work her way down.
She was headed for the stairwell when she spotted some suspicious activity. There was a man who stayed in front of the vehicles as he moved along down the row of parked cars. It looked like he was tracking someone.
Cameron looked down the parking lot aisle and spotted a young woman pushing a baby stroller. It alarmed her to see it was who the man was tracking. She didn't know if he was after the woman, the baby, her car, or the two large bags she carried. It could be he wanted everything. She was aware the female would be forced to be very 'compliant' if the man were to threaten the small child. It wasn't something she would allow to happen.
She could wait until he made his move, or she could go in pursuit of him. She decided on preemptive action. She didn't need to know exactly what his move would be. It was clear he was going to make one. There was no need to risk injury to the female or the child.
The woman stopped in back of a 'high end' sedan. The man may have seen it when she arrived, or he may have seen what her purchases were in the store. He may have just been after the female. He knew she would be distracted. The man would probably kidnap her, steal the car with the goods, and drive to a secluded location so he could abuse her. She was aware some of the predators liked to get a woman with a small child because the female would 'do anything' if the perpetrator said they wouldn't hurt the child. It was the worst kind of scum to her. She wasn't going to wait and find out.
She quickly moved up in back of the man and choked him out. She went through his pockets and found a knife, duct tape, and a pair of handcuffs. It was clear he was up to no good. She thought about terminating him.
Based upon the items he carried, it didn't appear to be his first offense at doing something similar. She waited until the woman drove away and thought of what she wanted to do. There should be some punishment for what the man planned.
There was the sound of movement behind her and a second man lunged at her with a knife. She hadn't spotted him earlier. She'd been focused on the first man.
She reached down and lifted the first man's body up. The second man stabbed him, instead of her. He was still unconscious. She spun around the first man and 'rabbit punched' the second man in the back of the neck. She heard, and felt, his spine snap.
She left both of them between two cars and left. She didn't want to ruin her clothing. She quickly checked her dress for any blood stains or damage. There was none. She decided it was enough 'fun' for the night. She would check in and see how everyone was doing.
Closing monologue by Cameron:
Demon
The Demon is within
It is my own mind
When I look inside
I hate what I find
Rejected by ALL others
Feeling like burnt trash
For you JUST to look at me
Would be worth more than cash
The Demon is within
It is my own mind
When I look inside
I hate what I find
Fear, hate, loathing, anger
That's all the Demon can feel
A pile of gray useless matter
Afraid of what is real
The Demon is within
It is my own mind
When I look inside
I hate what I find
But the Demon must fear
For I hold the key
I can slay the Demon within
Destroy its existence and I am free
The Demon is within
It is my own mind
When I look inside
I hate what I find
Nobody
