A van is shown in the middle of a desert. 'Puente Antiguo, New Mexico' Appears on screen.
"Wait, if this is about Thor, why does it start in New Mexico?" Peter asked.
Three people are in the van. Jane Foster, Erik Selvig and Darcy.
Thor smiled at the sight of his friends. He missed them and he regretted not being able visit them since the bifrost was destroyed.
The van's headlights turn off, Jane and Selvig stand up through the top of it, Jane has a device in her hands. They look up Jane tells them to wait for something.
"Wait for what?" Drax asked.
Darcy peaks her head up from behind the seat and asks if she can turn the radio on.
The teenagers laughed at that, because 'same.'
Erik turns to Jane and tells her that she can't continue doing what she's doing.
Jane says that the last 17 occurrences were predicted to the second.
"Now I'm even more confused." Peter said.
"Just watch." MJ scolded.
Erik tells her that she's an astrophysicist and she isn't a storm chaser.
Jane says that there's a connection between her research and the atmospheric disturbances. She tells Erik she wouldn't've asked him to come if she wasn't sure.
Darcy notices something in the mirror of the van and tells them that they should come see it. Jane looks out the window, part of the sky is glowing blue.
"What is happening?" Scott asked.
"I believe this is when I was banished. If I am correct, that would be me." Thor said, though it raised a lot more questions than it answered.
The sky starts opening. Erik says he thought Jane says it was supposed to be a subtle aurora.
Darcy starts driving, Jane tells her to get closer.
"Is she joking? Tell me she's joking." Strange said.
They continue driving toward it, Jane is looking at the heat signatures, something blasts into the ground. Darcy turns the car, Jane asks her what she's doing.
"Trying to not die." Almost everyone said.
Darcy says she isn't dying for 6 college credits.
"I would." Tony said.
"Then what would be the point? If you die, your college credits won't matter." Ned said.
The van starts spinning. A silhouette of a man appears in the window, the car hits him and he falls. The three of them exit the car and says the legally it was all Jane's fault.
"But Jane wasn't the one who was driving." Ned said.
Jane tells Darcy to get the first aid kit and hopes that the man isn't dead then asks were he came from.
"I was right. My banishment." Thor said, dejectedly.
"Why were you banished?" Clint asked.
"You will probably see later on." Thor said.
A mountain range. 'Tonsberg, Norway 965 AD' appears on the screen.
Odin's voice is narrating he says that mankind once accepted that they weren't alone in the universe.
"Too bad people don't think like that now." Fury said.
"It's kind of arrogant of humanity to believe that we're the only intelligent life out there, don't you think?" Bruce asked.
People are walking in a village. Odin says that man believed some worlds were home to their gods and that they knew they should fear some other worlds. Lightning cracks the sky, the camera pans to show an army of frost giants, one of them holds the casket of ancient wonders.
"Who are those guys?" Scott asked.
"The frost giants... Jotunns." Thor explained.
Odin introduces the aliens as the frost giants and says that they came from a cold and dark realm. The frost giant holding the casket uses it to freeze a ship of people, other people start running from it, they freeze.
"Woah!"
Odin says that the frost giants were threatening to start a new ice age. He then says that the humans wouldn't face the threat of them alone. The bifrost opens and the Asgardians stepped out with Odin.
"Is this a war?" Steve asked.
"Yes." The three Asgardians answered. (Thor, Loki and Valkyrie)
The armies charge toward each other and start fighting. A blue planet is shown. Odin says that the Asgardians pushed the frost giants back to their home world, then says that the frost giant king fell.
Odin, missing an eye, points his spear at the frost giant king, an Asgardian takes the casket.
"You guys took that from them?" Maria asked.
"Our father believed that it wasn't safe in the hands of the Jotunns after the war." Thor said.
Odin says that the source of their power was taken and then the asgardians retreated back to asgard. The Camera pans over a mountain and then shows mountains and lastly a very beautiful city.
"You live there!?" Quill asked.
"Its so beautiful." Natasha said.
"It almost reminds me of Wakanda, don't you think so?" Shuri asked T'Challa.
"I almost forgot what it looked like, it does look way better when its not being destroyed by that murderous hag." Valkyrie said.
Thor looked at her, shock and fear evident on his face. "Destroyed!?" He asked.
"Oh, sorry, that is a story for another time." She said.
"You can't just say things like that." Loki whispered.
Thor was still panicking. His home was destroyed? He has to stop that from happening. "H-how did it get destroyed?" He finally asked.
Odin says that the Asgardians remain as a beacon of hope and that they brought peace to the universe.
Valkyrie and Loki looked at each other with similar disbelieving expressions on their faces. Odin was full of shit.
Odin is walking with a young Thor and Loki at his sides.
"You were cute as kids." Gamora said. Thor smiled in thanks, Loki shook his head.
The casket is sitting on a pedestal he says that soon one of them will need to defend the peace.
Loki warily asks if the frost giants are still alive.
"Oh the irony that statement holds." Loki said, dramatically. Thor looked at him and sighed. Everyone else just looked confused, why was that ironic?
Thor says that when he's king he's going to hunt the frost giants and slay them, and calls them monsters.
Thor cringed, Loki put his head in his hands. "A bit of an ambitious child weren't you?" Tony asked.
Thor sighed again. "Do you still think like that?" Fury asked.
"No, being on Earth taught me a lot. It helped me grow into a better man." Thor said.
Odin says that a wise king would never seek war but he must always be prepared for it.
"He seems like a wise king." Fury said.
"True. But one can't help but wonder what lessons he learned to become one." T'Challa said.
Odin starts walking away. Thor and Loki look at each other before running to their father. Mjolnir is shown leaning against a pillar. Thor says he's ready be king.
Loki says that he is too.
Odin says that only one of them can have the throne but they were both born to be kings.
Loki rolled his eyes. Odin loved his secrets, lies and half truths. It was true, he was likely born to be a king as the son of Laufey, just not the king of Asgard.
A large stadium full of people cheering is shown. An older Thor is shown, raising his hammer. He walks down the stairs. He flips the hammer in the air and points toward someone.
"Lot's of showmanship." Tony commented.
Sif rolls her eyes.
"Who's the girl?" Clint asked.
"She is lady Sif." Thor said.
Frigga rolls her eyes with a fond smile on her face.
"And the other girl?" Clint asked.
"She is Queen Frigga, our mother." Thor said with a smile, with a quick glance at Loki. Loki looked at the screen with a small, sad smile on his face, remembering his mother.
Thor was still walking over to Odin, his hammer still raised in the air. He finally reaches the stairs in front of Odin and kneels, he sets the hammer down and takes his helmet off.
"Bit heavy with the showmanship aren't we point break?" Tony asked. Thor didn't say anything, cringing a bit at his old arrogant self.
Thor smiles and winks at his mother. Odin stands up. Thor sends a smile to the warriors three.
"And they are?" Scott asked. "The warriors three. Hogan, Fandrall and Volstagg."
Odin pounds his spear on the floor, silencing all the people and introduces Thor and says the he was his firstborn.
Loki scoffed.
"Firstborn my ass." Valkyrie shouted.
Thor once again looked at her in shock and panic. "What do you mean? I am Odin's first child." He said, feeling very confused. They had a sibling...? Maybe?
"We should work on what you can and cannot say." Loki whispered. Valkyrie smacked him, but she agreed, though she would never tell him that. Thor was from the past and he doesn't know about Ragnorak and Hela just yet.
Odin talks about Mjolnir and says that it is a fit companion for a king. He says that he's defended Asgard and innocents across the 9 realms since the great beginning.
Loki resisted the urge to scoff at that.
The weapons vault is shown. Two guards are walking inside. One of the pillars freezes.
"What's happening?" Bruce asked.
"The frost giants." Thor sighed.
"Yes okay but why?" He pressed.
Back in the throne room, Odin is still speaking he asks if Thor swears to guard the realms, to preserve the peace and if he swears to cast aside his ambition and pledge himself to the good of the realms.
Thor says he does and raises his hammer. Odin goes to proclaim him king but cuts himself off.
Thor sighed as he remembered his reaction to the frost giants getting into the vault. If only he'd reacted with a little more maturity.
The floor the weapons vault is freeing one of the guards looks at it and two red eyes peer at him from underneath it reaches through and kills the guard.
Odin realizes that there are frost giants near. The frost giants in the vault start running toward the casket, one of them lifts it.
"Oh no." Peter said.
Odin slams the spear down again. The Destroyer emerges from behind a wall. it shoots the frost giants down.
"What the hell is that thing?" Rocket asked.
"That is They Destroyer, it protects the weapons vault." Thor said.
"Now will you explain what the frost giants were doing there in the first place?" Rhodey asked.
"I let them in." Loki said, he received a lot of glares.
"Of course you did." Clint said.
"Why did you let them in?" Natasha asked.
"You'll see." Thor sighed, remembering his reaction to the Jotunns that broke into the vault.
Odin enters the weapons vault, Thor and Loki following. They look around at all the damage and says that the Jotunns need to pay for what they did.
"They're already dead Thor, how much more can they pay with?" Natasha asked.
Odin says that they paid with their lives and says that the destroyer did it's job and the casket is safe.
Thor says that they broke into the weapons vault and tries to talk about what would happen if they stole one of the relics.
"But they didn't." Scott said.
Odin says that they didn't.
Thor says he wants to know what the Jotunns were there. Loki is watching their conversation.
"You look like you should have a cup of tea in your hand." Peter said to Loki.
"Yes sip the tea sis." Shuri laughed.
"I don't know what that means." Loki said, bluntly.
Odin says that he has a truce with Laufey.
Thor says that Laufey broke the truce and he knows Odin is vulnerable.
Odin asks what Thor would do in his position
Thor says that he would go to Jotunheim and teach the frost giants a lesson so they'll learn not to cross the borders again.
"That's why I did it." Loki said.
"You tried to get Thor to start a war with the Jotuns... for what?" Bruce asked. There had to be a reason, Loki wouldn't attempt to start a war for kicks... although Bruce wouldn't really put it past him.
Odin says he's only thinking as a warrior.
Thor says that breaking into the vault was an act of war.
Odin says that they were doomed to fail.
"He's right." Rhodey said. With the Destroyer guarding the vault, it didn't seem like those Jotunns had any hope in actually stealing the relic back.
Thor tells him to look at how far the Jotunns got.
Odin says that they'll seal the breach in the defenses.
Thor tries to go on a tangent about what he would do as king.
Odin tells him that he isn't king yet.
"And father realized what I wanted him to see all along." Loki said.
"So you let the Jotuns into Asgard to show your father that Thor was not ready to be king?" Rocket summarized. "Just so you could prove that you're better?"
"Yes." Loki sighed.
"Sounds dumb but okay." Rocket replied, he's done worse for less.
Thor walks over to a large table full of food and flips it over.
"I think you could use some pointers from Bruce on how to control that anger. I mean come on did you really have to waste all of that food." Tony joked.
He walks over to a set of stairs and sits down. Loki walks out from behind a large pillar and over to him. Thor tells him that it isn't wise of Loki to be there and that this was supposed to be his day of triumph.
Loki tells him it will come in time.
Thor sighed. Maybe one good thing came out of Loki letting the Jotunns in. He wasn't ready to be king and, even though it should've been brought to light in a different way, Loki was able to make them realize that. Everything else he did though... nothing good came from that.
Sif, Fandrall, Hogan and Volstagg enter the room. Volstagg asks what happened.
Loki leans toward Thor and says that he thinks Thor's right about the Jotuns and that they're bound to break through Asgards defenses again but with an army and Thor can't do anything about it without defying Odin's wishes.
"You're manipulating him." Natasha realized.
"He is, but at that point I probably would have used anything as an excuse to... do what I did." Thor said.
"Loki still shouldn't have manipulated you into doing...what exactly was it that you did?" She asked.
"Something that could have been prevented if that guard had warned Odin faster." Loki interrupted.
"Or if you hadn't pushed him into doing it but whatever." Clint muttered.
Thor stands up. Loki recognizes the look in his eyes.
"What is 'that look'?" Quill asked.
"The look he gets where he is about to do something stupid." Loki answered.
"You put it there, though." MJ said.
"Hey Tony has that look too!" Rhodey shouted.
"So does Steve." Bucky said.
Thor says that its the only way to ensure the safety of the borders.
Loki says that its madness.
"It is madness." Steve reluctantly agreed.
Thor tells them that they're going to Jotunheim.
"Ok so... did nothing in your head tell you that this is a bad idea and you shouldn't do it or...?" Maria asked.
Volstagg questions Thor.
Fandrall says that Jotunheim isn't like a visit to Earth where he would summon some lightening and the humans would worship him as a god.
"You do that?" Howard asked, growing more amazed by the second, he didn't even know any of this existed let alone did he ever think he would get to see it. Thor nodded.
Thor says that Odin fought his way into Jotunheim and defeated their armies and took the casket. Thor says that they would only be going for answers.
"If you wanted those why didn't you ask the psychopath you call your little brother?" Clint asked.
"I didn't know it was him who let them in." Thor said, like it was obvious, which it was.
"You say that like you honestly didn't know it was him behind all of it." Natasha said. Which... maybe he didn't, maybe Loki wasn't always so... Loki.
Sif says that its forbidden.
"You should listen to them." Fury said. "And not Loki."
"I agree I should have, but right then I was far to angry to care about what they said." Thor said.
Thor asks if they've forgotten what they've all done together and asks Hogun who led him into the most glorious battles.
Hogun says that Thor did.
He asks Volstagg who gave him the most succulent delicacies that when he ate it he thought he was in Valhalla.
Volstagg says that Thor did.
"Valhalla?" A few people asked.
"Oh its where we go when we die in glorious battle." Thor answered.
"So like Heaven?" May asked.
"What is Heaven?" Thor asked.
"Christians, one of Earth's many religions, believe that if your good, when you die you go to a place called heaven." Natasha explained.
Thor asks Sif who proved everyone who scoffed at the idea of a woman being a fierce warrior wrong.
Valkyrie looked confused, when did Asgard become reluctant to let women fight for them?
Sif says that she did.
"She's right you know, she's the only one who can prove that. You should've picked a different point to make." Gamora said.
Thor agrees and says that he supported her. Then he says that they're going to Jotunheim.
Everyone sighed.
Thor, Loki, Sif, Volstagg, Hogan and Fandrall are all riding on horses to where Heimdall is. When they reach him they get off their horses. Loki walks ahead of them.
"Here we go." Loki said quietly.
Loki greets Heimdall.
Heimdall says that they're not dressed warm enough.
"How did he know where you were going?" Hope asked.
"Heimdall sees all." Thor responded.
Loki feigns confusion.
Heimdall asks if Loki thinks he can deceive him.
Loki tells Heimdall that he's mistaken.
Thor walks in front of Loki and asks Heimdall if they can pass.
Heimdall says an enemy has never slipped past his watch before that day and he wants to know how it happened.
"But you just said he was all-seeing." Bruce asked, confused. If Heimdall was all-seeing how did the Jotuns get past him.
Thor tells Heimdall not to let anyone know where they've gone and he walks past Heimdall. Everyone else but Loki walks after him.
Volstagg asks Loki if his silver tongue turned to lead.
"Silver tongue?" Scott asked.
"Yes, one of Loki's nicknames. It means someone who has a certain way with words." Thor said.
"It means he can shit talk his way through anything." Valkyrie corrected.
The five of them walk into the room. Heimdall warns them that of their return home would threaten Asgard's safety he will need to keep the bifrost closed and they will die on Jotunheim.
Volstagg asks if he could leave it open.
Heimdall says that leaving it open would unleash its full power and it would destroy Jotunheim.
Thor says the he has no plans to die.
Heimdall says no one has plans to die and uses the bifrost to transport them to Jotunheim.
"Yeah."
They land on Jotunheim and look around.
"Really, nothing. I would've expected a little aggression." Nebula said.
"Just wait." Loki sighed.
Hogan says that they shouldn't be there.
"He's right you shouldn't." Clint said.
Thor tells them to move and starts walking, the rest of them follow.
Sif asks where the Jotuns are.
Thor says that they're hiding and calls them cowards.
"Thor." The avengers sighed.
Laufey says that they've come a long way to die.
"Where they hell did he come from?" Quill asked.
Thor introduces himself.
Laufey says they know who Thor is.
Thor asks him how the Jotuns got into Asgard.
Laufey said that the house of Odin is full of traitors.
Thor says not to dishonor Odin's name by spreading lies.
Laufey calls Odin a murderer and a thief.
"Don't forget liar and secret keeper." Loki said bitterly.
Thor glared at him. "He said he did it to protect you."
"Oh, that is just one of the secrets father kept from us." Thor looked confused now, was there really more family secrets or was Loki making this up? Loraine did say he was from 5 years in the future, Thor just didn't know if he could trust him or not.
"What's this about 'we should talk about what we can and cannot say'?" Valkyrie asked.
Laufey asks if Thor came there to make peace and says that he longs for battle and calls him a boy trying to prove that he's a man.
"Hate to say it but Papa smurf is right." Tony said.
A large group of frost giants start to surround them. Thor says that he's tired of his mocking.
Loki walks up behind him and tells him to stop and think because they're outnumbered.
"Listen to him!" Gamora yelled.
Thor tells him to know his place.
All of the people with siblings in the room glared at him. (Gamora, T'Challa, Shuri, Nebula and Wanda). Thor looked Loki apologetically.
Laufey says that Thor doesn't know what he's doing and tells them to leave while he still allows it.
"Yes, please do." Peter said.
Loki says that they'll accept the offer and tells Thor to come with him then he starts walking away. Thor turns around.
Laufey tells them to run home and calls The a princess.
"Well shit." Valkyrie said.
Loki swears.
"Fragile masculinity at its finest." Natasha jokes, referring to Thor.
Thor wacks Laufey with his hammer and hits another frost giant. A large group starts attacking. Thor hits them with his hammer. Hogan uses a mace type weapon. Sif uses a sword as does Fandrall. Loki throws knives. Volstagg starts punching them. Thor says to make it a challenge.
"No no! Don't do that." Ned shouted.
One of the frost giants jumps off a ledge and slams into the ground creating a ripple effect. It roars and Thor mocks it. The frost giant head butts him and kicks him away.
"Oh for Heavens sake." Pepper said.
He throws the hammer at the frost giant. Sif hits one of them with her sword it kicks her over. Hogan throws something at it. One of the starts running toward Loki, he backs up and is gets trapped on the edge of a cliff. The frost giant runs through him and falls off the cliff.
"Wait what!?" Tony asked.
"Hold the phone, what was that?" Rhodey asked.
"Surely, you'd know by now, Stark, that I am capable of making illusions of myself." Loki said.
Loki appears from behind a pillar and points at the illusion, making it disappear. Sif stabs a frost giant in the chest. One of them grabs Volstagg's arm, giving him frost bite, he head butts it. Volstagg says no to let the frost giants touch them.
Loki goes to stab one of them with a knife but it grabs his arm, he doesn't have the same reaction as Volstagg, his arm turns blue. Loki looks shocked then stabs the frost giant, he holds his arm out watching as the blue fades.
"Wait, so you're a frost giant?" Bruce asked. Loki nodded and sighed.
"Wait if you're a frost giant then why are you white?" Ned asked.
"Oh my God Ned, you can't just ask people why they're white." Peter said.
Fandrall starts fighting one, his sword gets stuck in the ground. He ducks under the giants legs, grabs it and stabs him. He turns around and gets stabbed with icicles. Loki sees and throws a knife at the frost giant.
Volstagg and Hogan pull Fandrall off of the ice. Loki says that they have to go.
Thor tells them to go.
"Oh, my God." Everyone sighed.
He throws the hammer and hits a large group of giants. One of them awakens a giant animal. Sif and Loki look up in shock, Thor continues fighting. The animal breaks the ice surrounding it.
"What the hell is that thing?" Quill asked.
Thor ignores them and continues fighting. The animal roars and starts running after him. Thor spins his hammer and it kicks up ice, hitting the frost giants. The animal claws at Sif. A large group of giants surround Thor. He summons some lightning and brings it down causing a ripple effect, the animal falls into the hole and starts running on the underside of the ground.
"How the hell-gravity doesn't work like that." Tony said.
The animals foot appears in front of them, it brings itself up Thor flies through its mouth and out the other side. He lands and a group of Jotuns stares back at him. They move toward him, but the bifrost opens and stops them. Odin appears on an eight legged horse.
"Does that horse have eight legs?" Hope asked. "God aliens are weird."
Thor says he and Odin can finish them together.
"No you won't." Tony said.
Odin silences him.
Laufey appears in front of Odin and tells him that he looks wary.
Odin tells Laufey to end this.
Laufey says Thor sought it out.
Odin says that they were the actions of a boy and Thor should be treated like one. He says that they can end it before any more blood is shed.
Laufey says that they are beyond diplomacy and that Thor will get what he came there for. Laufey tries to stab Odin but Odin raises his spear and Laufey is thrown to the side.
"So... you started a war." Bucky said.
"No. But I almost did." Thor said.
Odin, Thor, Loki, Sif, Volstagg, Hogun and Fandrall are all taken back to Asgard. Thor asks Odin why he took them back.
Odin asks if Thor realizes what he started.
"I didn't then, I do now." Thor said, sadly.
Thor says he was protecting his home.
Odin says he can't even protect his friends and asks him how he plans to protect the kingdom. He takes the sword out and throws it to Heimdall.
He tells the others to get Fandrall to the healing room.
Thor says that there won't be a kingdom if they're afraid to act and that the Jotuns need to fear them.
"Maybe... maybe they don't need to fear you." Maria said.
Odin says that Thor is only talking with pride and vanity and asks if he forgot everything he taught him about patience.
Thor says that the nine realms are laughing at them and that Odin is giving speeches as Asgard falls.
Odin calls Thor vain, greedy and cruel.
Thor calls Odin an old man and a fool.
"Oh shit's about to get real." Shuri said.
Odin agrees that he was a fool to think Thor was ready.
Loki protests. Odin growls at him, Loki backs away in fear.
"What the hell was that noise?" Tony asked.
Odin says that Thor has betrayed his king and that because of his arrogance and stupidity he opened the realms up to war. Then says that he is unworthy of the realms and slams the spear into the ground.
"Here we go."
He starts taking apart Thor's armor and says he is unworthy of his title and the loved ones he betrayed. He takes Mjolnir and says that he's taking away Thor's power and casts Thor out of Asgard. He points the hammer at Thor and he disappears through the bifrost, Loki looks distraught.
He says that whoever holds the hammer, if they're worthy, will possess the power of Thor. Then throws Mjolnir away.
"Does anyone else think banishment goes a little too far or is that just me?" Quill asked.
"I mean let's be real this is their equivalent *He points at the Asgardians* to being kicked out of the house." Scott said.
"If anything I'm happy father banished me. If he hadn't I wouldn't have learned my lesson, and wouldn't have met any of you or Jane or Darcy or Selvig." Thor said.
