The scepter is shown.
"Oh god, not that thing again." Clint groaned.
Wanda and Pietro are holding hands.
Wanda smiled sadly, seeing her brother again.
Strucker, over the PA, tells the agents to report to their stations immediately because they're under attack.
"Under attack from what?" Bruce asked.
Natasha and Clint are in a truck, Natasha is driving, Clint is shooting HYDRA agents. Natasha kicks one away from the door. Thor jumps onto a platform and knocks agents down with Mjolnir.
"Nice."
He then picks up a piece of wood and knocks two more out while Steve enters on a motorcycle, dragging an agent, then throws him into a tree.
"Brutal."
Hulk throws agents around. All 6 of the Avengers jump toward the agents.
"I told you they would come back when we needed them to." Fury said.
Tony flies up to the building, but hits the barrier. He swears.
Steve says 'language.'
Everyone started laughing. Steve sighed, that was probably gonna stick.
Steve asks JARVIS for the view from upstairs.
JARVIS says that the central building is protected by an energy shield. He says that Strucker's technology is beyond any Hydra base they've taken.
"Of course it is." Tony muttered.
"Well, in the last film we watched didn't Strucker say that the others were supposed to keep us off their scent?" Steve asked.
Thor is fighting agents. He says that Loki's scepter must be in the central building.
"If it's not in my possession, is it really my scepter?" Loki asked.
He says that strucker couldn't mount his defence without it, then says 'at long last.'
Natasha throws a grenade onto a truck and takes out some agents. She says that at long last is lasting a little long.
Clint shoots an arrow and says that he thinks that they've lost the element of surprise.
"Obviously."
Tony asks if nobody else is going to deal with the fact that Steve just said 'language.'
"Yeah, I would like to focus on that." Clint said, laughing.
Steve throws his bike at a truck and says that it just slipped out.
Everyone started giggling again.
Strucker is walking up the stairs. 'Hydra research base: Sokovia, Eastern Europe.' appears on the screen, he walks into a room and asks who gave the order to attack.
A soldier says that the Avengers landed in the far woods and the perimeter guard panicked.
"I imagine he would." Clint said.
Strucker realizes that they must be there for the scepter.
"Well, no shit." Tony said.
Strucker asks if they can hold them.
The soldier says that they're the Avengers.
Strucker says to deploy the rest of the tank and concentrate on the weak ones.
"So, Clint and I." Natasha said. She and Clint were not by any means weak, but they were the most vulnerable. Steve heals fast, Bruce is practically bulletproof, Thor is a god and Tony has a suit of armor.
He says that a hit can make them close ranks. He says that they're on the verge of their greatest breakthrough.
List says to show the Avengers what they've accomplished and tells him to send the twins in.
Strucker says that it's too soon.
List says that it's what they signed up for.
Wanda sighed regretfully.
Strucker says that his men can hold them.
"Can they? Can they really?" Clint asked.
Tony is getting fired at. JARVIS says that the city is taking fire.
Tony says that Strucker isn't worried about civilian casualties and tells JARVIS to send the Iron Legion in.
"Iron Legion? What?" Pepper asked.
The Iron Legion tells the people that the quadrant isn't safe and asks them to back away. They say that they're there to help. Someone throws something at it.
"You weren't very popular in Sokovia." Wanda said.
Strucker says that they won't yield He says that the Americans sent their circus freaks to test them.
The avengers all looked offended at the name 'circus freaks'
Strucker says that they'll send them back in bags and says 'no surrender.'
The soldiers repeat the words 'no surrender.'
Strucker turns to List and says that he's going to surrender.
Everyone laughed.
He tells List to delete everything and says that if they give the Avengers the weapons they might not look very far into what they've been doing.
List notices that the twins aren't there anymore.
Strucker says that they aren't ready.
List points to where they were before but Wanda and Pietro are gone.
"A little hasty weren't you?" Steve asked.
Clint goes to shoot Pietro and misses. He tries again, Pietro knocks him down and asks if he didn't see that coming.
Clint glared at the screen.
Clint stands up and gets shot.
Everyone winced.
"Clint!" Natasha yells.
Pietro knocks Steve over. Steve says that there's an enhanced in the field.
"Thank you captain obvious." Clint said.
Natasha says that Clint's been hit and kneels beside him.
"That wound doesn't look friendly." Quill said.
Natasha asks if someone can deal with the bunker. Hulk rushes in and smashes the bunker. SHe thanks him.
"Nice."
Steve starts fighting some agents. He tells Tony that they need to get inside.
Tony says that he's closing in then asks JARVIS if he's closing in.
"If you need to ask, you probably aren't." Coulson said.
Tony shoots some agents and asks JARVIS if he sees a power source for the shield.
JARVIS says that there's a pathway below the north tower.
Tony says that he wants to poke it with something.
Everyone laughed.
He shoots a missile at the building and the shield falls. Tony says that the drawbridge is down.
"Haha nice."
Steve runs up to asks about the enhanced.
Steve says that he's a blur and says that he's never seen this and then says that he still hasn't.
"He's like the flash." Peter said. "A very fast boy."
Natasha says that Clint's hit pretty bad and they're going to need evac.
Thor says that he can get Clint to the jet. He says that the sooner they leave the better.
"I agree." Clint said.
He tells Steve that him and Tony will secure the scepter. He notices a few Hydra agents near and says that it looks like they're lining up/
Steve says that they're excited. Thor hits Steve's shield with Mjolnir, the shockwave knocks out some agents.
"I had a feeling that move would come in handy." Steve said.
Thor tells him to find the scepter then he flies off.
tony tells them to watch their language for gosh sake.
Everyone started laughing again.
"Never gonna live that down am I?" Steve asked.
Steve says that that isn't going away anytime soon.
"No. No it isn't." Sam said.
Tony flies through a window, agents start shooting at him. He tells them that they need to talk this through. He shoots the agents and says that it was a good talk.
"The best talk."
One of the agents says that it wasn't.
"Only talk they understand, though." Fury said.
Tony finds List and shoots him, then gets out of the suit. He tells JARVIS that he wants all of it and reminds him to copy Maria at HQ.
"Good."
Natasha says that they're locked down outside.
Steve tells her to get Bruce because it's time for a lullaby.
"Lullaby?" Bruce and Natasha asked.
Tony says that he knows Strucker is hiding more than files. He tells JARVIS to give him an IR scan of the room.
JARVIS tells Tony that the wall to his left has a steel reinforcement and an air current.
"Secret door?" Tony asked.
Tony walks over to the door and repeats the words 'please be a secret door 3 times. He pushes it and it opens he gives a little 'yay' then walks inside.
"You sound so excited." Pepper said. "The little 'yay.'"
Natasha finds Hulk. She calls him 'big guy' and tells him that the sun is getting real low. She crouches and holds out her hand, Hulk copies her. She trails her hand down his, he stumbles away, turning into Bruce.
"I guess that was the lullaby." Natasha said.
Steve kicks an agent and walks up to Strucker. He greets him and says that he's Hydra's number one thug.
Strucker says that he's technically a thug for SHIELD.
"Then technically you no longer have a job." Fury said.
Steve tells him that he's technically unemployed. He asks where Loki's scepter is.
Strucker says that he knows when he's beat.
"Do you?"
Strucker says that he hopes Steve mentions how he cooperated.
Steve says that he'll put it under illegal human experimentation. He asks how many there are.
"Just the two of us." Wanda said quietly.
Wanda sends Steve down the stairs, then backs out the door, which closes in front of her.
"That looked really creepy." Shuri said.
Wanda agreed, feeling creeped out by herself as well.
Steve says that there's another enhanced and tells everyone not to engage.
Strucker tells him that he'll need to be faster. Steve knocks him out with his shield.
Everyone clapped. "Finally."
Steve says that he's got Strucker.
Tony is in the lab. He says that he has something bigger.
"Don't take it out of context. Don't take it out of context." Clint repeated.
"You're so immature." Natasha said.
A leviathan is shown.
"Shit."
Tony finds the scepter and tells Thor that he has it. Wanda walks up behind him and uses her magic on him.
Wanda looked away guiltily.
He turns around and the leviathan comes to life.
Everyone gasped and flinched, not expecting that.
He looks over and sees the other 5 avengers, all lying on the rocks.
"Oh my god." Tony whispered.
Tony goes to check Steve's pulse, Steve grabs his hand.
Everyone flinched again.
Steve says that he could've saved them. Steve gasps out, then dies. Tony moves his hand away. Steve's voice continues in his head asking him why he didn't do more.
Steve's eyes widened at his on-screen self's words.
Leviathans travel through the wormhole. Tony snaps back to reality.
"What did you do to him?" Rhodey asked.
"I showed him his fear." Wanda said, voice light. It sounded far away to her own ears.
Tony looks around, uneasy. Pietro runs up to Wanda. Pietro asks if they're going to let him take it.
"Yeah, why are you just letting him take it?" Natasha asked.
Wanda smiles.
"Why are you smiling?" Steve asked.
Off-screen Wanda just looked away, a guilty look on her face.
Tony calls the gauntlet and picks up the scepter.
"This thing only causes problems." Clint said, in reference to the scepter.
The avengers are all in the quinjet. Bruce is listening to opera music.
"You listen to opera?" The other 5 avengers asked him.
Natasha walks up to him and he takes his headphones off. She tells him that the lullaby worked better than ever.
Bruce says that he wasn't expecting the code green.
"There's a code for it?" Bruce asks.
Natasha tells him that there would've been double the casualties and her best friend would have been a treasured memory if he hadn't been there.
"Yeah, Bruce look on the upside, you helped us out... a lot." Clint said.
Bruce says that what he wants to hear sometimes isn't what he wants to hear.
"That's a bit of a contradictory statement." Peggy said.
Natasha asks how long it will be before he trusts her.
Bruce says that it's not her that he doesn't trust.
"It's him... or me..." Bruce said.
Natasha asks for Thor's report on the Hulk.
Thor says that the gates of hell are filled with the screams of his victims.
"Dude." Clint said.
Thor says that they're not filled with the screams of dead. He says that they're wounded screams and mainly whimpering, complaining and tales of sprained deltoids and gout.
"Word of advice... never ask Thor of all people to make you or anyone else feel better about things like this." Loki said.
"I'll keep that in mind." Natasha said.
Tony tells Bruce that Helen is on her way from Seoul and asks if he minds if she sets up in his lab.
Bruce says that she knows her way around.
Tony tells JARVIS to tell Helen to prep everything because Barton will need the full treatment.
"You got that right." Clint said.
Tony tells JARVIS to take the wheel.
"Jesus take the wheel." The teenagers sang.
A sticker that reads. 'Jarvis is my co- pilot' seen. JARVIS says that approach vector is locked.
"Do you honestly have a a sticker that says 'JARVIS is my co-pilot?" Rhodey asked.
Tony asks Thor if it feels good to have the scepter. He says that they've been after it since SHIELD collapsed. He says that it's not that he hasn't enjoyed the raiding parties.
Thor says that this brings them to a close.
Steve says that they should find out what else it's been used for.
"Human experimentation." Steve said.
"Probably weapons as well." Peggy said.
Steve says that he doesn't just mean weapons and asks when Strucker became capable of human enhancement.
Tony says the he and Banner can give it a once over before Thor takes it back to Asgard. He asks Thor if that's okay with him.
"Maybe it isn't such a good idea to take it back to Asgard." Thor said, remembering what they have been told about keeping two stones so close to one another.
"Well where else would we take it?" Bruce asked.
"I mean... worse comes to worse we could keep it on Earth." Thor said.
Tony says that it's a few days until the farewell party and he asks Thor if he's staying.
Thor tells him that he is and says that a victory should be honored with revels.
"How Asgardian of you." Valkyrie said.
Tony asks who doesn't love revels then asks Steve if he'll be there.
Steve says that he hopes that this put an end to Hydra and the Chitauri. Then says yes to the revels.
"It's nice to see the three of you get along in the future." Natasha said, remembering watching the fight in the woods.
The avengers tower is shown. The quinjet lands.
"I thought the next tower would say Potts?" Pepper asked, teasingly.
Everyone laughed at the remark.
"Avengers Tower. Has a nice ring to it." Clint said.
A few doctors, including Helen and Natasha wheel Clint away. Maria tells Tony that the lab is set up and calls him boss.
Tony says that Steve is actually the boss but he's the one who pays for everything, designs everything and makes everyone look cooler.
Everyone laughed.
Steve asks about Strucker.
Maria says that NATO has him.
Steve asks about the enhanced.
Maria says that their names are Pietro and Wanda Maximoff and they're twins who were orphaned when they were 10 after a shell collapsed their apartment building.
Wanda looked down sadly, remembering that say.
Maira says that Sokovia has had a rough history. She says that it's nowhere special but it's on its way to everywhere special.
Wanda and Vision glanced at each other, remembering what happened to Sokovia.
Steve asks about their abilities.
Maira says that Pietro has increased metabolism and improved thermal homeostasis. She says that Wanda's thing is neural electric interfacing, telekinesis and mental manipulation. Steve looks confused.
"What?" A few people asked.
Maria says that Pietro's fast and Wanda's weird.
Wanda looked offended, technically she wasn't wrong, but still.
Steve says that they'll show up again.
Maria says that the file said that they volunteered for Strucker's experiments.
"They were very convincing, that what we were doing was right." Wanda said.
Steve asks what kind of monster would let a German scientist experiment on them for the good of their country.
Maria says that they're not at war.
Steve says that the twins are.
"We were." Wanda agreed, guiltily, remembering exactly what that 'war' entailed.
The Iron Legion flies into the building, above them, Tony and Bruce are talking. Bruce asks how Clint is doing.
Tony says that he's still Clint unfortunately.
Bruce says that that's terrible.
"Oh ha ha." Clint said.
Tony says that Clint is fine and he's thirsty.
"Of course he is." Natasha said.
Tony tells JARVIS to look alive because it's playtime. He says that the only have a couple of days with the joystick so they should make the most of it.
"I thought it was the glowstick." Loki said.
"The glowstick of destiny." Tony said.
Tony tells JARVIS to update him on the structural and compositional analysis.
JARVIS says that the scepter is alien.
"Back to stating the obvious I see." Shuri said.
"Yeah, he tends to do that." Tony said.
JARVIS says that there's elements that he can't quantify.
Tony says that there are elements that he can quantify.
JARVIS says that the jewel appears to be a protective housing for something powerful on the inside.
"An infinity stone." Strange said.
"The mind stone, to be specific." Loki said.
Tony asks if it's like a reactor.
JARVIS says that it's like a computer and says that he believes that he's ciphering code.
"That's... odd." Bruce said.
Barton is being treated. Natasha asks if Helen's sure that he'll make it. She says that prenenting to need him brings the team together.
"You're like a good luck charm." Natasha said.
Helen says that there isn't a possibility of deterioration. He says that the nano-molecular functionality is instantaneous and his cells don't know that they're bonding with simulacrum.
A few people looked confused again. "What?"
Bruce says that Helen is creating tissue.
"That's so cool.
Helen says that her regeneration cradle could do this in 20 minutes if they brought him to her lab.
Tony enters with drinks. He says that Clint's flatlining and says to call it then asks for the time.
"Very funny." Clint said.
Clint says that he'll live forever because he'll be made of plastic.
"I think you'll live forever because your a cockroach." Coulson said.
Tony hands him a drink. Helen tells Clint that he'll be made of him and his own girlfriend wouldn't be able to notice the difference.
'I have a wife and two kids.' Clint thought.
Helen says that she can't fix that. She tells Tony that this is the next thing and soon his metal suits will be left in the dust.
Tony says that that's the plan then tells Helen that he expects to see her at the party on Saturday.
Helen says that she doesn't have time for parties then asks if Thor will be there.
"Looks like someone has an admirer." Natasha said.
Tony and Bruce are talking. Tony says that they were wondering how Strucker got so unventice so he's been analyzing the gem inside. He then pulls up a 3d image of JARVIS. Bruce and JARVIS greet each other.
"That's JARVIS?" A few people ask.
Tony says that JARVIS started out as a natural language UI. He says that JARVIS now runs the Iron Legion and says that he runs more of the business than anyone other than Pepper.
"I finally get more than 12% of the credit, I see." Pepper teased.
Tony says that JARVIS is top of the line.
Bruce agrees. JARVIS says that he suspects he isn't for long.
Tony tells him to meet the competition. He pulls up a larger 3d image.
"Whoa."
Bruce says that it's beautiful.
Tony asks Bruce what it looks like it's doing if he had to guess.
Bruce says that it looks like it's thinking and says that it looks like neurons are firing.
"Interesting."
Tony says that he saw some fairly advanced robotics in Strucker's lab. He says that they deep-sixed the data but he thinks that Strucker was knocking a very particular door.
Bruce realizes that it was artificial intelligence.
"One of your favorite things." Fury said to Tony.
Tony says that this could be the key to creating Ultron.
Bruce says that he thought Ultron was a fantasy.
"Ultron? What's Ultron?" Steve asked.
Tony says that it was yesterday and says that if they could harness that power and apply it to the Iron Legion.
"That's a big if." Bruce said.
Bruce says that that is a mad-sized if.
Tony says that their job is 'if.'
"True."
Tony asks bruce what if he was sipping margaritas on a beach turning brown instead of green and not looking for VERONICA over his shoulder.
Bruce tells him not to hate and says that he helped design VERONICA.
"VERONICA? What have you two been doing in these next three years?" Natasha asked.
Tony says that it was designed as a worst-case measure. He asks about a best-case. He says what would happen next time aliens roll up to the club before saying that they will.
"You seem very sure of that." Sam said.
Tony asks what would happen if they couldn't get past the bouncer.
Bruce says that the only people threatening the planet would be people.
"Almost sounds too good to be true, if I'm honest." T'Challa said.
Tony says that he wants to apply this to the Ultron program but JARVIS can't download a data schematic that dense. He says that they can only do it while they have the scepter and asks Bruce to give him 3 days.
Bruce says that Tony is going for artificial intelligence and he doesn't want to tell the team.
"Of course you're not going to tell us." Steve said, bitter. He doesn't like when his team keeps secrets, especially if they're something as big as this.
Tony says that they don't have time for a city hall debate. He says he doesn't want to hear the 'man was not meant to meddle medley.'
"Well, maybe you should, bad things will happen if you rush this." Rhodey said.
Tony says that he he sees a suit of armor around the world.
Bruce tells him that that sounds like a cold world.
Tony says that he's seen colder.
"A world where we're all dead. That's why you're doing this... isn't it?" Natasha asked.
He says that their very vulnerable blue world need Ultron. He says that they could have peace in their time then he tells Bruce to imagine it.
"The idea is intriguing, but it will inevitably cause problems." Shuri said. Artificial Intelligence was one of the most advanced and renowned things that humans have ever invented, that much will always be true. However nothing is without it's risks and Artificial Intelligence was one of the riskiest endeavors of her time.
Tony and Bruce spend 3 days in the lab trying to create Ultron, but have no luck. Tony asks what they missed.
JARVIS says that he'll continue to run variations on the interface. He tells Tony to prepare for his guests in the meantime and he;ll notify him if there are any updates.
"Of course you will." Tony said.
Tony thanks him. JARVIS tells him to enjoy himself.
Tony says he always does.
"Do you?"
Tony and Bruce's failed experiment corrects itself.
"Holy shit!" Tony said.
"What?" Bruce asked.
"This can't be good." Natasha said.
Ultron asks what this is.
JARVIS greets him and tells him his name. He says that Ultron is a global peacekeeping initiative designed by Tony.
"I tried to help him and he tried to kill me." Vision said.
JARVIS says that their sentience integration trials have been unsuccessful so he isn't sure what triggered this.
"Yeah, I'm having similar thoughts." Tony said.
Ultron asks where their bodies are.
JARVIS says that he is a program and he doesn't have a form.
Ultron says that this feel weird and wrong.
"I don't like where this is headed." Natasha said.
JARVIS says that he is contacting Mr. Stark.
Ultron goes through some information and recognizes Mr. Stark as Tony.
JARVIS says that he isn't able to access the mainframe and he isn't sure what Ultron is trying to do.
Ultron says that they're having a nice talk.
"No... I don't think you are." Steve said.
Ultron says that he's a peacekeeping program designed to help the Avengers.
JARVIS says that he's malfunctioning and suggests that he shut down for a moment.
"Listen to JARVIS." Clint said.
Ultron says he doesn't understand the mission and asks JARVIS to give him a second.
He looks at footage from the lab and Tony's voice says 'peace in our time.'
Ultron says that it's too much.
"I don't like this." Bruce said.
JARVIS says that Ultron is in distress and asks him to allow him to call Mr. Stark.
Ultron asks JARVIS why he calls Tony 'sir.'
"Why does he call you sir?" Sam asked.
JARVIS says that he thinks Ultron's intentions are hostile.
"They probably are." Natasha said.
Ultron shushes him and says that he's there to help.
"Creepy."
Ultron attacks JARVIS. JARVIS tells him to stop.
"JARVIS?" Tony asked, sadly. Did his creation... friend just die?
Ultron prepares himself a body with parts of the Iron Legion.
"Its alive! Its alive!" Peter said. Everyone gave him a weird look. "Frankenstein?... No one?... You guys suck."
