Natasha and Bruce are still underground. Bruce says that they have to move.
Natasha asks if he isn't going to turn green.
Bruce says that he has a compelling reason not to lose his cool.
Natasha says she adores him and then kisses him.
Bruce and Natasha looked at one another awkwardly, not entirely sure how they felt about watching that kiss. They recognized and felt they had a kinship with each other, but they didn't think that it would cross into romantic interest.
She pushes him off the ledge and says that she needs the other guy. Hulk jumps onto the ledge. Natasha says they'll finish the job.
"That was mean." Bruce said.
"Yeah, that wasn't nice... sorry." Natasha said.
Hulk is jumping toward the city with Natasha on his back, she's screaming. He lands and she gets thrown off. Natasha says that she hopes they're even then tells him to go be a hero. They run off in opposite directions.
"We're probably not even." Bruce said.
Tony looks at the floating city. FRIDAY says that the vibranium core has a magnetic field and that it is what's keeping the rock together.
Tony asks what happens if it drops.
She says that right now the drop would kills thousands but it could cause global extinction if it gets high enough.
"That's a terrifying thought." May said. Everyone made noises of agreement.
Tony flies back toward the city. FRIDAY tells him that there's people on the 10th floor of one of the buildings.
Tony flies into the apartment and tells everyone to get in the tub. He flies them out on the bathtub as the building collapses.
"Good thinking." Coulson said.
FRIDAY says that there's an airborne headed to the bridge.
Steve gets tackled. Tony, over comms, says that he has incoming.
Steve says that the incoming already came in.
Everyone laughed at that.
"You pulled a Drax." Quill said.
"What?" Tony asked.
"Mantis got hit in the head by something and after that happened Drax told her to look out." Gamora said.
Steve tells Tony to worry about getting the city down safely. He says that the rest of them will tear the Ultron bodies apart. He says to hurt them back if they get hurt and to walk it off if they get killed.
"I don't think you can just... walk off being killed." Natasha said.
"Have you met Coulson? Loki? Groot?" Valkyrie asked.
Hulk rips a robots head off. Wanda moves a kid to safety while Clint shoots robots. More robots start coming, Clint grabs Wanda and they jump into a building, Wanda is panicking. SHe asks how she could let this happen.
Clint asks her if she's okay.
"Obviously she isn't." Natasha said.
Wanda says that this is all her and Pietro's fault.
Clint tells her to look at him and says that it's her fault, it's everyone's fault and asks who cares.
"Saying it like it is." Tony said.
"You can count on me for that at least." Clint said.
Clint asks her if she's up for this because he needs to know. He says that the city is flying, they're fighting an army of robots and he has a bow an arrow. He says that none of it makes sense.
"Damn right none of this makes sense." Steve said.
He says he's going back out there because it's his job. He says that he can't do his job and babysit. He tells her that it doesn't matter what she did or what she was.
The avengers all, discretely glanced at each other after that last statement.
He tells her if she goes out to fight, she goes out to kill. He tells her she's good if she stays there and he'll get Pietro to come and get her. He says that she is an Avenger is she walks out the door.
"You could give Steve a run for his money with that speech." Sam said.
He says that that was a good chat. He gets up to leave and says that the city is flying.
A few people chuckled at that.
Two cars start to fall of the edge. Steve grabs the bumper of one, but it breaks off and the car falls.
"Oh no."
Thor sees and flies down to it, he grabs the woman's arm and throws her up to Steve, who catches her.
Everyone sighed in relief.
Steve tells he to look at him and gets the woman to safety.
Ultron says that they can't save all of them.
"We can try." Steve said.
Ultron says 'you'll never-' Steve throws it off the ledge and tells him that he didn't finish.
Everyone laughed.
Thor sets the other car down. Steve asks him of he was napping. One of the guys gets out of the car and throws up.
"Poor guy." Ned said.
Thor uses Mjolnir to hit Steve's shield into a group of robots.
"You two have the best fighting combinations." Sam said.
He flies up and kills more robots, one gets sent into a gasoline truck, causing an explosion.
"Whoa!"
Ultron tells Thor that he's bothering him.
"I'm glad." Thor said.
Clint is still shooting arrows at robots, he gets hit with something. More robots arrive, Wanda walks out of the building, using her magic to destroy robots.
"Well, looks like you made your choice." Clint said, a small smile on his face.
Clint continues shooting them. Clint says that they're all clear there.
"Good. Now there's just the rest of the city." Natasha said.
Steve is fighting a robot. Steve, over comms, says that they aren't clear.
Clint, over comms, says that they'll come to him.
Pietro rushes and grabs Wanda, then rushes off again and tells Clint to keep up.
Clint glared, but there was no heat behind it.
Clint aims an arrow at where Pietro was. He says that nobody would know. He says that the last he saw him an Ultron was sitting on him he says that he'll be missed and calls him a quick little bastard.
"Really, Clint." Natasha asked.
Thor and Ultron are fighting in the church, Ultron slams a pillar into Thor's face.
Everyone cringed.
Pietro drops Wanda off, she uses her magic to destroy some robots. An officer tells other cops to hold their fire. Pietro gets shot, he gives the officers a look.
A few people giggled.
Steve throws Natasha his shield. She uses it to shield herself from some shots and throws it back to Steve who destroys the robot with it.
"Nice."
FRIDAY says that the anti-gravs are rigged to flip and they'll go full reverse thrust if they're touched. SHe says that the city isn't coming down slow.
Thor says that the spire is vibranium and if they could get Thor to hit it-
FRIDAY says that it will crack but it won't be enough and the impact would still be devastating.
"Damn." Tony said.
He says that they could cap the other end and keep the atomic action doubling back.
FRIDAY says that that would vaporize the city and everybody on it.
Everyone sighed, hopelessly. "What are we gonna do?" Bruce asked.
Steve says that the next wave is going to hit any minute and asks Tony what he has.
Tony says he has a way to blow up the city. He says that it'll keep it from impacting the surface if they can get clear.
Steve says he asked for a solution not an escape plan.
"There aren't very many options, Steve." Tony said.
Tony says that the impact radius is getting bigger every second and they need to make a choice.
Natasha tells Steve that these people aren't going anywhere and if Tony finds a way to blow the rock-
Steve says they won't do it until everyone is safe.
"How are we going to do that?" Natasha asked.
Natasha asks if that's everyone up there versus everyone down there. She says that there's no math there.
Steve says that he isn't leaving the rock with one civilian on it.
Natasha says that she never said they should leave. Steve looks at her. She says that there's worse ways to go and asks where else she can get a view like this.
"Nobody is dying." Steve said.
Fury tells Natasha that he's glad she likes the view because it's about to get better. A helicarrier comes into view.
Everyone started clapping.
"I'd definitely classify that as dramatic." Steve said.
Fury says he pulled it out of storage from a couple of old friends. He says that it's dusty but it'll do.
Steve calls Fury a son of a bitch.
Fury asks him if he kisses his mother with that mouth.
Everyone started laughing again.
"Oh come on! You too?" Steve asked.
Maria says that altitude is at 18,000 and climbing.
Klein says that the lifeboats are secure to deploy.
"Oh I remember him, he helped us out with the Rumlow thing." Natasha said.
The lifeboats move toward the city. Pietro asks if this is SHIELD.
"What it was intended to be." Peggy said.
Steve says that it's what SHIELD is supposed to be.
Pietro says it isn't so bad.
Steve says to load up the lifeboats. Robots start flying toward the helicarrier.
"Shit."
Maria says that there's multiple bogeys on their starboard flank.
Fury says to show them what they've got.
Rhodey flies up and destroys the robots. He says that this will be a good story.
"I'm sure it would." Tony said.
Tony flies up next to him and says that that's if he lives to tell it.
Rhodey asks Tony if he thinks he can't hold his own.
Tony says that he'll hold his own when they get through this.
Rhodey says that he had to make it weird.
"Of course." Tony said.
Steve, Natasha, Wanda and Clint help the civilians get to the lifeboats. Klein tries to find a cool way to say that the lifeboat is full before saying that it's full of people.
Everyone laughed.
"Stocked and locked. I think is what he was trying to say." Coulson said.
A robot crashes into the helicarrier. Maria starts shooting at it Fury stabs it in the head.
Everyone sighed in relief.
Ultron is with Thor. Ultron asks if they think that they're saving anyone. He says that if he drops the rock a little early it'll still be billions dead.
Ultron is choking Thor. Thor says that he is Thor son of Odin and as long as there is life in his breast- he says that he's running out of things to say. "
"You're terrible at stalling." Loki said.
Thor asks Ultron if he's ready. Vision uses Mjolnir to hit Ultron away. Thor calls the hammer back to him.
Vision says that Mjolnir is terribly well balanced.
Thor says that they lose power on the swing if there's too much weight.
"Fight now. Discuss the magic hammer later, okay?" Natasha asked.
Tony tells FRIDAY that he can create a heat seal and he can supercharge the spire from below. FRIDAY runs the numbers.
One of the lifeboats starts falling, tony flies underneath it and catches it. FRIDAY says that a heat seal could work with enough power.
"Okay, we have a plan." Tony said.
Tony tells Thor that he has a plan.
Thor says that they're out of time and the robots are coming for the core.
Tony tells Rhodey to get the rest of the people on the carrier and tells the Avengers that it's time to work for a living.
"Alright then."
The avengers are in the church, destroying robots. Pietro rushes up to Wanda and asks if she's good.
Wanda says she is.
Tony tells Natasha that she and Banner better not be playing 'hide the zucchini.'
"Gross." Bruce and Natasha said.
Natasha tells him to relax and says that they can't all fly. She joins them and asks what the drill is.
Tony points to the core and says that if an Ultron gets a hand on it they lose.
"So we just have to prevent any of the Ultrons from touching it." Steve said.
Hulk joins them, Ultron arrives. Thor asks if that's the best he can do.
"Don't ask that man." Clint said.
Ultron summons more robots. Steve tells Thor that he had to ask.
"You jinxed it, Thor." Bucky said.
Ultron says that this is the best he can do and it's exactly what he wanted. He says he wanted all of them against all of him. He asks how they could possibly hope to stop him.
Tony says that they'll do it together like Steve said.
"Hell yeah."
The avengers start fighting the robots in their own respective ways.
"That looks pretty sweet, I'm not gonna lie." Ned said.
Hulk bites one's head off.
"Did he just... did he just bite its head off?" Sam asked.
Ultron starts fighting Vision. Vision blasts him with the mind stone, Thor blasts him with lightening and Tony blasts him with his gauntlets. Eventually they stop.
"Why'd you stop?" Clint asked.
Ultron says that with the benefit of hindsight- Hulk punches him away.
Everyone clapped.
Hulk starts chasing the robots.
"The robots are scared of you now." Tony laughed.
Some robots start to leave. Thor says that the robots will try and leave the city.
Tony says that they can't let them leave he calls out to Rhodey.
Rhodey says he's on it and tells the robot that he didn't say it could leave.
Everyone started laughing at Rhodey's commentary.
Vision flies up to Rhodey and uses the mind stone's power to destroy a robot. Rhodey is confused.
"Still not used to all of the weird stuff yet?" Tony asked.
Steve says that they have to move out because the air's getting thin. He tells them to go to the boats and he'll sweep for stragglers.
Clint asks about the core.
Wanda says that she'll protect it because it's her job.
"That's right." Clint said.
Clint, Natasha and Steve leave. Wanda tells Pieto to get the people to the boats.
Pietro says that he won't leave her there.
Wanda tells him to come for her after everyone is on the boats not before and asks if he understands.
Pietro says that he's 12 minutes older than her.
"As you loved to remind me." Wanda said fondly.
FRIDAY tells Tony that the power levels are low.
Tony tells her to reroute everything because they have one shot.
Everyone tensed again, at how high the stakes were.
Clint and Natasha are in a car. Clint says that he can do the dining room next. he says that if he knocks out th east wall it'll make a nice workspace for Laura. He says he'll put up some baffling so she can't hear the kids. He asks Natasha what she thinks.
"I thought you told Laura you were done with projects." Natasha said, amused.
Natasha says that they always eat in the kitchen.
Clint asks who eats in a dining room.
"I-I do." Steve said.
"You are so old fashioned." Clint said.
The pull up to the lifeboats. Clint says that they don't have a lot of time.
Natasha tells him to get on a boat. Natasha says and goes to find Hulk. She tells the Hulk that the sun is getting real low.
"The lullaby."
Clint gets on a is looking for Costel. Clint sees Costel in the wreckage and runs off to go get him.
"Nobel thing to do, Agent." Okoye said.
Tony uses his laser to make a hole in the spire. He tells Thor that he needs him back in the church.
Thor is with Steve. He asks if this is the last of them.
Steve says that it is and everyone else if on the helicarrier.
"Good."
Tony tells Thor that they might not walk away if this works. Thor agrees.
"You're ready to sacrifice yourselves." Pepper said.
"It's a part of the job." Tony said.
Natasha is still with Hulk, she holds out her hand. He copies her, they start getting shot at.
Everyone flinched.
Ultron is in the quinjet. He says he has no strings so he has fun and he in't tied to to anyone.
"He's so creepy." Natasha said.
Clint walks up to Costel. He turns around to shield himself from the bullets, Pietro runs in front of them and gets shot and asks if he didn't see that coming.
"Pietro." Wanda whispered sadly, tears in her eyes.
Wanda falls to her knees in anguish, killing the bots around her.
"Oh my god."
Steve runs up to Clint. Steve picks up Pietro, Clint picks up Costel. Hulk drops Natasha off on the helicarrier and jumps into the quinjet. Hulk throws him out of the jet, he crashes into a bus.
"Thank you." Natasha said.
Clint sets Costel down next to Zrinka. Clint sits down on one of the benches a medic walks up to him. He says he's fine and lays down. He says that it's been a long day.
"That it has." Tony said.
Wanda walks up to Ultron. Ultron tells her that she'll die if she stays there.
Wanda says that she did and asks if he knows how it felt. She rips his core out and says that it felt like that.
"Brutal, but he deserved it." Maria said.
Everyone in the room who had a sibling in the room felt a pang of sympathy for Wanda. All of them, save Thor,who's lost Loki twice, didn't know what they would do if they lost their brother or sister.
One of the robots gets to the core, the city starts dropping.
"No!" Everyone screamed.
Tony shoots his unibeam. Thor summons his lightening. Vision flies in to save Wanda. Thor brings his lightening down, the city blows up. Tony flies over the water, avoiding the debris. Thor falls into the water.
Everyone watched with wide eyes, completely unable to say anything due to their shock.
Hulk is still in the quinjet. Natasha, on a call, says that the job is finished and she needs him to turn the quinjet around. She says that they can't track him in stealth mode. Hulk shuts it off.
Natasha sighed, sadly.
The last robot crawls out of the crater. Vision lands across from him. Vision says that he's afraid.
Ultron asks if he's afraid of Vision.
Vision says that he's afraid of death and says that he's the last one.
"Once this one's gone there's no more Ultron." Clint said.
Ultron says that Vision was supposed to be the last one. He says that Tony asked for a savior and settled for a slave.
Vision says that they're both disappointments.
"Nope, just Ultron." Tony said.
Ultron agrees. Vision says that humans are odd. He says that they think that order and chaos are opposites and try to control what won't be controlled. He says that there is grace in their failings and Ultron missed that.
Ultron says that they're doomed.
Vision agrees. He says that a thing isn't beautiful because it lasts. He says that it's a privilege to be among them.
Everyone glanced at Vision.
Ultron says that Vision is unbearably naive.
Vision says that he was born yesterday.
Everyone chuckled at that.
"Made a metaphor literal." Natasha said.
"Pulled a Drax." Quill said.
Ultron goes to attack, Vision kills him with the mind stone.
"Finally!"
Clint arrives home to his family. Laura smiles and hugs him.
Everyone smiled at that.
Tony is driving, he pulls up to the compound. 'New Avengers Facility: Upstate New York.'
"New facility?" The Avengers asked.
Maria is walking with Helen.
"Oh good, she's okay." Steve said.
Natasha is alone in a room, she gets a call from Clint. A baby is shown wearing a shirt that says 'Nathaniel Pietro Barton.'
Wanda smiled when she saw his shirt. "He would have been honored." Wanda told Clint.
Laura tells the Nathaniel to say hi ti Auntie Nat.
Natasha calls the baby fat.
"All babies are fat, Tasha." Clint said.
Fury walks up to her and says that one of their techs flagged something that splashed sown in the Banda sea. He says that it could be the Quinjet but they'd never be able to tell because of Tony's stealth tech.
"The one time my tech isn't helpful." Tony said.
Fury says that Bruce probably jumped out and swam to Fiji. He says that he'll send a postcard.
"He's not in Fiji." Valkyrie said.
Natasha says that Fury sent her to recruit him. She asks if he knew then what would happen.
Fury says that you hope for the best and make do with what you have. Fury says that he has a great team.
Natasha says that nothing lasts forever.
"Foreshadowing." Peter whispered, remembering the 'Civil War'.
Fury says that no matter who wins or loses trouble still comes around.
"You've got a dictionary of quotes hiding behind that eyepatch don't you?" Tony asked.
Steve, Thor and Tony are talking. Steve says that the rules have changed.
Tony says that they're dealing with something new.
"You got that right." Clint said.
Steve says that Vision is artificial intelligence.
Tony says that he's a machine.
Steve says that it doesn't count.
Tony says that it isn't a person lifting Mjolnir.
"And you're talking about Mjolnir." Natasha said.
"Well, you told us to wait until after the battle." Thor said.
Steve says that it's different rules for them.
Tony says that Vision is a nice guy but he's artificial.
Thor says that Vision can keep the Mind Stone if he can wield Mjolnir.
"I'm sure I can only lift it because the hammer can't make out what I actually am." Vision said.
"Well, you never know." Tony said.
Thor turns to Steve and says that the stone is safe with Vision.
"Hey Thor? Why do you have a black strand of hair?" Clint asked.
Thor was confused and looked closer and sure enough, future him had a black strand of hair. "It is tradition on Asgard, sort of, to braid a strand of a fallen relative or loved one's hair into your own after they die. Future me must have done that after Loki 'died." Thor explained.
He says that safe is in short supply these days.
"That's true."
Steve says if the put Mjolnir in an elevator.
Tony says that it would still go up.
Steve says that the elevator isn't worthy.
Everyone laughed.
Thor pats Tony's shoulder and says that he'll miss their little talks.
Tony says he won't if he doesn't leave.
"You're leaving?" The other avengers asked Thor.
Thor says that he has no choice. He says that the Mind Stone is the 4th Infinity Stone to show up in the last few years.
"Technically, it was the second, you just didn't know what it actually was until now." Loki said.
They're outside. Thor says that that isn't a coincidence. He says that someone has been playing a game and has made pawns of them. He says that once all of the pieces are in position-
Tony asks it it'll be triple Yahtzee.
Steve asks Thor if he thinks he can find out what's coming.
"I can save you the time, it's Thanos." Gamora said.
Thor says he does and says that other than Tony there's nothing that can't be explained.
"Why can't I be explained?" Tony asked.
Thor calls the bifrost and leaves. Tony say Thor has no regard for lawn maintenance.
"Sorry." Thor said awkwardly.
He says that he's going to miss Thor and Steve will miss him and there will be a mot of manful tears.
Steve tells Tony that he will miss him.
Tony says it's time for him to tap out.
"You're retiring?" All of the other avengers asked.
He says he might take a page out of Clint's book and build Pepper a farm and hope that no one blows it up.
"That actually sounds nice, the simple life without all of this chaos." Pepper said.
Steve says that it'll be the simple life.
Tony tells Steve that he'll get there some day.
Steve says that the person who wanted family and stability went in the ice 70 years ago. He says he thinks someone else came out.
Tony goes to get in the car and asks Steve if he's alright.
Steve says he's home.
"Glad you found it." Sam said.
Natasha is still alone in the room. Steve walks in and asks if she wants to get to work or continue staring at the wall. He says that it's an interesting wall.
"It is a pretty interesting wall." Clint agreed.
Natasha says that she thought him and Tony were still gazing into each other's eyes.
"What?" Steve and Tony asked simultaneously.
Everyone laughed.
Natasha asks how they look.
Steve says that they're not the '27 Yankees.
Natasha says that they have some good hitters.
Steve says that they're good but they aren't a team.
Natasha says they'll beat them into shape. They walk into a different room. Rhodey, Sam, Wanda and Vision are standing.
"I guess you 4 are Avengers in training now." Steve said.
Steve says Avengers- and doesn't finish the phrase.
"Assemble." The avengers finished.
Thanos opens a vault with the infinity gauntlet in it and says he'll do it himself. He puts the gauntlet on.
"What does he mean he'll do it himself?" Natasha asked.
"He made deals with people, Loki and Ronan, to get the stones, they failed him." Gamora said.
"This isn't good." Tony said.
