It had been two days since Cynthia had left Sandgem Town with Gible. She was currently on her way to Orebaugh City to challenge the gym leader for her first gym.

Though if she wanted to challenge the gym, she would need at least two other Pokemon before she went to the gym.

As she was thinking about this, she was also writing this down in her journal that her grandmother had provided her so that she can jot down what she had experienced on her journey.

And currently, she was doing that while sitting next to the small campfire she had made with Gible.

Speaking of Gible, she was currently eating some of the food that Cynthia had set out for her and was happily eating to her heart's content.

When suddenly… some of Gible's food was stolen from her.

It happened so fast that neither Cynthia nor Gible recognized it the first time around, but the second time was definitely noticeable as a green blur rushed in and stole the entire bowl that Gible was eating from.

"What the…" Cynthia said in confusion as she and Gible looked around for the food thief.

Suddenly the loud munching was soon followed as Cynthia and Gible soon saw a Budew eating from Gible's stolen food bowl with obvious glee.

"What is that Pokemon?" Cynthia wondered as she raised her Pokedex to scan the Pokemon.

"Budew, the Bud Pokemon. A Grass and Poison type, The pollen it releases contains poison. If this Pokémon is raised on clean water, the poison's toxicity is increased."

Budew soon snickered as she finished eating Gible's food and finished up with a big belch.

Gible didn't appreciate this and soon went to attack Budew. However, despite her impish nature, Budew was surprisingly agile and dodged Gible's attack with a surprising amount of elegance.

"Damn…" Cynthia said slightly impressed by this Budew.

Gible attacked again and again but no matter what she did she couldn't land a hit thanks to Budew's surprising elegance.

Budew soon went into the bush satisfied with she managed to accomplish to the duo.

Cynthia looked at the Budew retreating. Despite it's impish nature, it was able to dodge all of Gible's attacks like it was nothing. Something that Cynthia had never seen before.

Not to mention, Budew would come in handy at the Orebaugh Gym.

"All right I am going to catch that Budew! Come on Gible!" Cynthia said as she and Gible followed after Budew.

That being said, that might be easier said than done.

Cynthia wasn't too familiar with the surrounding areas of where she was camping and after getting lost after thirty minutes of searching.

Soon she had to sit down to catch her breath, as Gible soon looked at her a bit concerned.

"I am fine Gible, though I guess catching a Pokemon is tougher than it looks." Cynthia said chuckling a bit.

Gible agreed with her before she suddenly heard a rustling in the nearby bushes and soon got curious about it.

Soon a new Pokemon: a Meditite soon jumped out of the bushes and into the clearing to where Cynthia and Gible where.

Cynthia was surprised at seeing a Meditite here and soon scanned the Pokemon with her Pokedex.

"Meditite, the Meditate Pokemon. A Fighting and Psychic type, It meditates to heighten its inner energy and to float in the air. It eats one berry a day."

Cynthia was surprised thinking that Meditite didn't usually live out here but she soon realized it was her best chance to catch a new Pokemon and soon threw a Pokeball at Meditite.

Meditite didn't do anything as the Pokeball harmlessly hit him in the head and soon rolled beside him.

Cynthia was surprised wondering who this Meditite belongs to. When suddenly she heard a loud shriek.

"Thief! What do you think about stealing my Pokemon!"

Soon a girl around Cynthia's age soon appeared. She was wearing a yellow shirt with a black skirt to complement her outfit. On her shirt were several stars that shone brightly like the ones in the sky.

And seeing her eyes, it seems that this girl knew how to have fun.

"You know, if you are going to steal someone else's Pokemon then maybe you shouldn't do it in broad daylight." The girl said pointing a accusatory finger at Cynthia as her Meditite floated next to her.

"Whoa hang on, I wasn't trying to steal your Meditite, I thought it was a wild Pokemon. Apologies." Cynthia said calmly trying to diffuse the situation.

The girl soon looked at Cynthia and Gible before looking away in a huff.

"Fine, I am sorry for calling you two thieves. My name is Dahlia by the way and this is my partner Meditite." Dahlia said her tone suddenly switching from accusatory to excitable making Cynthia a bit jarred at the whiplash of tone.

"Um right, anyways I was wondering if you had seen a Budew anywhere around here." Cynthia said to her.

Dahlia soon thought about it and soon said "I have follow me."

Dahlia soon took Cynthia to the part of the forest that was just north of where she was and soon she saw the same Budew that had stolen Gible's food munching on some berries.

"Alright Gible you ready, let's go!" Cynthia said as her partner took center stage to fight the Grass/Poison type.

Budew soon turned around and soon gave the 'bring it on' look to Gible and Cynthia.

"Alright Gible use Tackle!" Cynthia said.

Gible soon ran across the battlefield and hit Budew with a powerful Tackle that soon sent her reeling.

"Alright follow it up with another Tackle." Cynthia said as Gible did just that as she hit Budew with another Tackle.

Budew soon got up as she let out a orange mist that Dahlia recognized.

"Watch out that is Stun Spore!" Dahlia warned the duo.

"I see, Gible dodge it and then trap Budew with Sand Tomb." Cynthia said.

Budew dodged the Stun Spore before she whipped up some sand and that trapped Budew in it, making her unable to escape from the attack.

"Finish this up with Tackle!" Cynthia said.

Gible soon rammed into Budew with full force as the tackle soon landed Budew on her back.

"Alright her it is goes, go Pokeball!" Cynthia said as she threw a Pokeball at Budew.

Soon the Pokeball hit Budew as it captured the Bud Pokemon and sat for a few minutes. It wobbled for a bit as it seemed to be for a eternity as if it would lock in as a capture.

Suddenly, the ball went still as it signal Cynthia's first capture.

She couldn't believe it, Cynthia had finally caught her first Pokemon.

"We did it! We really did it Gible!" Cynthia said as she and Gible rushed to pick up their newest teammate as Dahlia smiled from afar.

Soon they went back to where Cynthia was camping so that she could treat her new Budew.

"There there, I know that we both had a rocky introduction to each other but now let's be best friends Budew!" Cynthia said to her new Pokemon.

Budew soon looked at Cynthia and nodded before jumping into her arms and nuzzling her.

"Oh by the way Cynthia, I wanted to know. Where you on your way to Orebaugh City to challenge the gym there?" Dahlia asked her.

Cynthia soon let Budew down so she and Gible could play with each other as she said yes to Dahlia.

"Great you see I was on my way their as well so I was thinking that if it was ok with you that we could travel together?" Dahlia asked her.

Cynthia thought about it and realized that it would be fun to travel with someone else.

"Sure! Let's do this Dahlia!" Cynthia said.

Dahlia smiled as the two shook hands with each other. And soon they packed up their stuff and headed out with Cynthia having gained a new Pokemon and a new friend as her journey continued.
