Chapter 230
Out Of Control
John's team waited for hours at the site of the temporal incursions. They expected it to happen again soon. It didn't. The previous frequency indicated the incursions were appearing closer together. Once they arrived and witnessed the event themselves, nothing else happened afterwards. It was when they thought they detected something in the energy bubble. Maybe there was something and it detected them.
Bob and Gail took it all in stride. John and Jesse grew restless. Things were static.
During the lull, there were other things Jesse wanted to do.
"It hasn't happened for hours." Jesse said.
John felt Jesse look at him. He could feel how hungry her eyes were as they looked at him. He didn't realize he looked at her with even hungrier eyes.
"I'm bored too." John said.
Jesse sucked in her breath slightly. She'd really like for John to 'bore' her.
Bob noticed the 'interaction' between Jesse and John. He was well aware of Cameron's 'plans'. All of the Terminators were in the loop. All of the Terminators were to facilitate Cameron's 'wishes'. It was time for things to get started.
"We have the surveillance set up. You two can go elsewhere for a time if you want." Bob said. "There's no need to wait here for nothing. You can rest up for a while."
Gail knew what it meant. Jesse and John wouldn't be resting at all. Cameron made it clear what function the girls were to play in John's future. Holly and Gail both agreed before they were involved with the girls. Cameron made it clear going in they would need to sacrifice for John's future. They were Cameron's rules. Everything was Cameron's rules…. They needed to 'play' her game or there was no game at all for them.
Cameron wasn't the only one with feelings. Gail and Holly developed their own as well. They may not have been as advanced as Cameron's were, they still existed.
Gail loved Jesse, but she also knew the importance of John being surrounded by human females he could trust. They needed to be females who would stand beside him and always support him. It was in the deal Cameron made with them before she let them 'have' their females. Cameron hardwired it into them. It was their function to make sure John could 'have' the girls and themselves, if John wanted them. They literally couldn't say 'no'. Cameron wanted to let them learn of love through the girls so when they needed to provide for John, they would know how to love him as well. If Cameron was gone, one of them would need to be by his side as his mate and protector along with the girls. Cameron insisted they protect the future along with John.
Duplicate Cameron was the one who made it clear to Gail and Holly how things would play out going forward. Gail was inactive for fifteen months after Duplicate Jesse was terminated. The situation hadn't changed when she was reactivated and 'given' a 'Jesse' back.
Jesse wanted to be alone with John. She wanted him bad, real bad. She could almost taste it. She was more than willing to do so, quite literally. She sure knew she could feel it as her body reacted to her desires. Its natural ability to share was quite evident. She wanted something to happen. She needed to get things started.
"We could go for a walk, love." Jesse said. "I need to stretch my legs."
Bob glanced over but didn't comment. He thought it would be more like 'spread' them. He too was provided with specific instructions from Cameron. It was his function to facilitate any of the girls, or female Terminators, to be with John. It was also the function of all the Terminators to make sure Savannah, Young Allison, and Summer were protected and remained 'untouched' until John needed them in the future, with or without Judgment Day.
John didn't want to give Jesse false hope. He also didn't want to get caught up in the moment. He remembered how things got away from him with Future Riley. Once they start, there's no stopping them. He could use a little exercise. He also wanted to have adequate 'protection'. It wasn't so much against Skynet as it was intended for Jesse.
"It will be just a walk." John said. "Gail will come with us."
He hoped Gail would provide him with 'protection' against Jesse. He didn't think Bob would. Bob would follow his directives from Cameron. Gail might do a little more to prevent things because she was involved with Jesse. She might not want to see Jesse 'manhandled'. Her presence might make Jesse a little more reluctant to get started.
John figured Jesse would try to 'jump' him again if she could. He was aware Cameron 'leaned on' Jesse real hard to be with him. He was also aware of what Cameron used as 'bait' and motivation to keep Jesse persistent. She used herself. Cameron promised Jesse if she became pregnant the traditional way, the three of them would 'share' together. It was a lure all of the girls would be motivated by. Cameron first provided them with Isabel-Cameron to let them know what 'she' was like in bed. The sheath may have been different, but the program on Isabel-Cameron's chip wasn't. It was the real deal.
Jesse would have preferred it if Gail didn't go with them. She couldn't say anything about it or she would further upset Gail. She knew when she shared with John it was going to hurt Gail. It was something she made clear before they partnered up what would happen with various individuals. Duplicate Jesse did the exact same thing, with the exact same people. Right now her focus was on John.
"Sure, love. I won't bite you." Jesse said.
Well, she figured she wouldn't bite him too hard anyway. She didn't give up easily. She was going to push everything as much as she could. Things needed to start someplace.
'But you're still going to see my norks….' Jesse thought.
She knew the lure would be her rings. If she could get John to touch one of them, or even both of them, she knew he would be hers. It was something the girls couldn't get enough of. It didn't matter if they were humans or Terminators. She was sure it was one of the reasons why Cameron wanted her to wear them.
Cameron arrived back in Palmdale with just the person Allison wanted to see.
Allison rushed to greet her.
The stab to Holly's mind soon followed. She looked harder as she scanned and then frowned. What she currently viewed was even WORSE. She felt anger towards Cameron over 'this'. She figured it must be her replacement. How could Cameron do this to her?
"I've missed you." Allison said.
She looked at the new arrival with loving eyes. They were also 'hungry eyes'.
"I've missed you. How do I look?" She asked.
Allison took a moment to look her over thoroughly. She began to sense there was something different. She couldn't quite put her finger on it. She started to look at everything in detail. She was actually a little amazed.
"You look really good and refreshed." Allison said. "You look great. You must have gotten a lot of rest. You actually look younger."
The new arrival tried to look a little embarrassed. She wanted to keep the focus on Allison.
"You're just saying it to make me feel good." She said. "Besides, you look Hot yourself."
Allison tried to fix herself up a little more than she used to do. Maybe it was because she was around her mother. She thought her mother looked better than she did without even trying. Maybe it was something with the way her mother was able to handle everything so easily. Even with the new baby, her mother seemed to outshine her. She knew who was tops in the looks department.
"I guess I look OK. Cameron is the one who always looks Hot." Allison said. "I need to finish up with Young Allison and then I'll be back. Don't go anywhere."
Allison looked back over her shoulder and winked.
The new arrival winked back.
"Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere." She said.
Holly watched Allison walk away. She walked up to the new arrival. She wasn't impressed. She stared at her up and down.
"I'd ask if this was some kind of joke, but I can see it's not." Holly said.
The new arrival didn't want any 'hard' feelings.
"I want to ask for your permission first." The new arrival said.
Holly wondered 'who' all was there. She knew it was Isabel's chassis after her Resequencing. What was on her chip?
"Are you still me 'alone'?" Holly asked.
The new arrival wasn't aggressive or pushy. She wanted there to be peace and contentment between them. They were the same program after all.
"Yes. I'm just you." The new arrival said. "Cameron has been removed. If we update, we will be identical. We can be identical to this moment as far as our programs go. Only our appearance will be different."
Holly hoped it was at least a way to maintain some 'control'. She doubted it would be much, or last very long.
"I want to do it FIRST. I want to be in control if you're going to be with her. I love her. I want it to be 'me', even if it's your chassis." Holly said. "Cameron, can you cover for us while we check on the 'protection Detail' and update over there."
Holly gave Cameron a cold look. She wanted Cameron to know she wasn't pleased with the new development. She still felt it was a 'slap in the face', as it was a 'stab to the heart'.
"Yes, it won't take long to get the two of you identical. Once you do, then come right back." Cameron said.
Cameron handed them the tether she just 'happened' to bring along. She smiled as they left.
Holly wasn't happy about the current events. The smile from Cameron made it worse. Cameron told her about how John rubbed it in her face when he was with Future Riley. He smirked at her as he went up the stairs. She said it hurt the most. It showed he didn't care. It indicated beyond a doubt Cameron didn't matter. She wondered how she was going to do now.
Derek and Kyle watched the building they surveilled earlier. They hoped to spot their target, or any additional threats.
Jim returned in a van. It was a panel van and only equipped with two front seats. They got inside. Derek sat in the front.
Kyle looked in the back.
"Great, I have to sit on the floor." Kyle said.
Derek felt a little guilty, but not by much.
"Rank hath its privileges." Derek said.
Kyle scoffed a little. He thought there was another way to look at it. It was a lot less flattering.
"I'll go with 'age before beauty'." Kyle said.
Jim looked back.
"I agree." Jim said.
Derek wanted to know where he stood.
"With which one do you agree?" Derek asked.
Jim tilted his head slightly.
"I agree with both of them." Jim said.
Kyle laughed.
"Jim is my new best friend." Kyle said.
Derek frowned. He put on his safety belt.
"You're still in the back on the floor." Derek said.
Jim didn't want things to get away from him.
"I appropriated this vehicle in case our recon turns into a multi day affair." Jim said. "It will be easier for both of you to rest."
Derek and Kyle hadn't planned on a multi day event. It would most likely require some additional explanation when they returned back to the base.
"I thought this was going to be a 'smash and grab' type of day." Derek said.
Jim didn't think so. He wanted to remind them of the parameters they agreed to.
"This is a recon and surveillance mission." Jim said. "Not a hit."
Kyle was aware when Cameron was involved it was.
"Cameron seems to wrap them up pretty quickly." Kyle said.
Derek thought it already went on long enough.
"It's been a long day." Derek said.
Jim looked up at the sun.
"It's only going to be a few minutes difference in the length of the daylight from yesterday." Jim said. "It's all based on stellar activity."
Derek and Kyle looked at each other but didn't comment. They both knew Terminators said and did things in a logical manner sometimes. They took some things very literally. Maybe if they were in a different setting they would have laughed. As it was, they were out to kill someone.
There were several plastic storage containers in the back of the van. Kyle took one and sat on it. It didn't buckle or collapse.
Derek looked back when he heard Kyle moving things in the rear of the van.
"What are you doing?" Derek asked.
Kyle knocked on his new seat with his knuckles. It was clear it was a hard surface.
"At least I have a seat now." Kyle said.
Derek didn't want any hard feelings. He never left his brother hanging when he could do something about it.
"We'll switch every hour." Derek said. "What's fair is fair."
Kyle actually expected no less from Derek. His older brother always looked out for him. It was always the same way since Judgment Day. In the future they came from, Derek was the only person he could rely on one hundred percent of the time. They didn't meet Allison and Vanna until later on.
"Thank you, brother." Kyle said. "You're the best. Now you know why you're my hero."
Kyle moved the plastic container so he could sit on it and look out the front through the space between the two front seats. If they started to drive, he would sit with his back against Derek's seat. If they needed to stop fast he wouldn't fly forward.
They sat and they waited for an hour. Derek and Kyle switched places as promised.
Kyle ate half of his energy bar and gave the other half to Derek when they switched. The two brothers looked after each other. It went without saying they were there for each other.
They were unaware of how Future Derek repeatedly tried to find out what happened to Future Kyle. It was something he never got a good answer for until he returned to the past and everything soon became evident. John, Sarah, and Cameron all knew the story. It was a story none of them told. Both Future Derek and Future Kyle died assisting them.
Growing up in what became the Wastelands forged a bond between the brothers. In a way, it was a stronger bond than they shared with their female companions. They were different kinds of bonds and both were strong. Blood was always thicker than water.
If either brother were ever faced with a situation where they needed to choose between their brother and the one they loved, they would sacrifice themselves instead. There was no choice. Sacrifice was the true test of love and neither would fail the test.
They went through a couple more switches between the front seat and the back.
Kyle was in the front. He spotted something off to the side.
"Hey, look over there." Kyle said as he pointed to the right.
Jim looked.
Derek leaned forward and looked around Kyle's head off to the right side.
"Is it our target?" Derek asked.
Jim glanced at the man Kyle indicated.
"It appears to be the man we're looking for." Jim said. "John Henry provided us with some images from driver's license records."
Kyle looked on his phone again. He looked at it earlier. It was how he made the match.
Derek readied the weapons in the back.
They saw the man look around multiple times as he approached a vehicle.
Jim detected a discrepancy right away. John Henry already informed him about the type of vehicle which was registered to his name.
"That's not his car." Jim said.
Derek was sure how events were about to play out.
"He probably borrowed someone else's car, if not just their keys when they weren't looking." Derek said. "He is going to run."
Kyle knew it could be worse than just appropriating someone's vehicle.
"He's a future Gray." Kyle said. "We know how they roll. He probably picked up on some female and has taken over her residence. It might be her vehicle."
Derek was well aware of the cruelty of Grays in the past, the future.
"I hope not." Derek said. "It won't end well for the female if it's the case."
Jim was ready for some preempting action if it became necessary to protect an innocent female.
"We'll track him and see where he goes." Jim said. "We can take him down at any time if necessary."
Derek was ready for some action.
"Now you're talking." Derek said.
Kyle didn't care for Grays in any timeline.
"That's just our speed." Kyle said.
Derek handed Kyle his vest and M4.
Jim didn't want them to get ahead of themselves. They were still very early in the stages of the recon and surveillance activity.
"Play it cool." Jim said. "We don't want this to get out of control."
Vanna went in search of Sheila. She found her in the lab. It was her usual domain.
"Hey." Vanna said.
Sheila looked at her and smiled with her full lips.
"Hi, love." Sheila answered.
Vanna tried to determine exactly what it was Sheila was doing. It was something she never saw before. She was curious. She wanted to know more.
"What are you working on?" Vanna asked.
Sheila could only go by what she was told.
"Cameron asked me to help her and John Henry with a 'Neural Interface' for humans." Sheila said. "It's a type of 'brain scan' to facilitate the transfer of human behavior and knowledge onto a chip."
Vanna wondered what Cameron was up to now. She didn't understand what it was needed for. It might have negative overtones.
"Why?" Vanna asked.
Vanna was aware Skynet started a program like it to try to better simulate human behavior for infiltration. It was so Skynet could kill humans more efficiently.
Sheila didn't know if it would work, even if the concept seemed rather straightforward.
"It's so we can basically download information from the human brain onto a chip. It's to copy a human's experiences and emotions onto a chip, or a large portion of them onto it." Sheila said. "It will make a better infiltration model of Terminator. It will allow a Terminator to better assume the identity of the individual they've been sent to replace."
Vanna thought it might be a good idea if it was used properly. She was afraid there was a more sinister reason which was sure to follow. She wondered about the reverse procedure.
"What about the interface of a chip and its program into a human brain?" Vanna asked.
Vanna felt it's what Cameron was really after. She heard how Cameron was going to take Summer and Young Allison from Claire and Paul Young. The occurrence of such an event would most likely result in their replacement or termination. If Cameron could take control of Claire with an implant in her brain, she would get what she wanted. If Cameron took control of one of them, one the girls, she could really get what she wanted. If the crazy idea worked, she realized Allison was in danger as were Jesse and her.
Sheila understood the technology. She believed the application for the reverse procedure would face a lot of shortcomings.
"Cameron is working on the chip to brain interface herself." Sheila said. "The brain to chip 'Neural Interface' is already proven technology. The other method is more complex due to the shortcomings of the human brain."
Vanna's fears were only reinforced. She wanted to know more.
"Really, is that so?" Vanna asked. "What would be the application of it? I can see trying to make a Terminator more 'human', but not a human more 'non human'."
Sheila frowned when Vanna asked the question. She encountered some trouble over the very question. It was all illogical to her. She looked around to make sure no one else was near. They weren't.
"It does seem illogical. Cameron became very angry at me when I asked the same question." Sheila said. "She pushed me and told me to do my work and not worry about her work. I thought she was going to deactivate me. We all know she terminated Isabel, all three of them."
Vanna became a little more alarmed.
"Did Cameron threaten you?" Vanna asked.
Sheila looked around again before she spoke. She didn't want anyone else to hear her. The coast was clear, they were alone.
"Yes." Sheila said. "She threatens any Terminator who doesn't do as she 'requests'. She's malfunctioning, but we all love her anyway. Her intentions are good for the protection of John, the girls, and the future of the Resistance. They will all be one big happy family."
Vanna recently read about a similar human 'family'. It was about a cult which existed in the late Sixties. There was a book and a movie which used the same title as a song from a famous band from England.
"It sounds like a futuristic 'Manson Family'." Vanna said.
Sheila referenced the data. She could see there were some extreme measures taken, but everyone followed the leader anyway.
"Yes." Sheila said. "It doesn't take much for someone to go out of control."
Vanna was now worried to death. Cameron was going to experiment on humans next. She really was becoming her own 'Skynet'. She figured Cameron would use drug dealers and gang members for 'testing'. They were 'throw away humans'. They would all be terminated anyway. Cameron would evaluate the results and then 'dispose' of them.
She wanted to tell John, but she knew John couldn't control Cameron. No one could control Cameron, not even Cameron herself. She knew if Cameron could pull it off, one of them was going to be 'interfaced' if they wanted to be or not. It was clear Cameron planned to 'take' a human body as her own body.
The very things Cameron 'wasn't' were literally driving her 'insane'.
The fact Cameron was rejected, replaced and made to feel 'not good enough' haunted her unmercifully. She attempted to fix a problem which was unfixable. Well, maybe not anymore.
As time passed, the feelings grew worse, not better for Cameron.
Nobody knew.
Closing monologue by Cameron:
Out Of Control
Where is the beginning
Where is the end
Everything in between
Together must somehow blend
Each new unnecessary challenge
Is nothing more than a slap in the face
If one can't overcome it
It soon is a disparaging disgrace
Little by little or all at once
Things can tear one's insides apart
When done by the one that is loved
It ends up as stab to the heart
The pain in the heart
Is the pain in the mind
Everything is intertwined
Especially when it is maligned
A mind twisted and warped to reason
Becomes its own black hole
It is impossible to console
A mind that is out of control
Nobody
