Scott, hank and Hope walk toward a University. Scott says it isn't a good idea to be walking around in the open.
"He is right, you know." Bruce said. "You should at least try and be more careful."
Hank tell him to relax because no one will recognize them.
"Yeah, a cap and sunglasses... best disguise ever." Rhodey said, sarcastically.
Scott asks if it's because of the hats and sunglasses and says it's not a disguise and they look like themselves at a baseball game.
"He's right, it's a terrible disguise." Natasha said.
Bill is giving a lecture. He says particles co-exist in a stable phase relationship in isolated systems and the stability becomes chaos if the system is interfered with. He says a quantum system would revert to separate states of matter when isolated completely.
"He's talking about quantum phasing, right?" Quill asked.
"Yes." Everyone else said.
Bill says each are entangled with a distinct state of it's environment and in other words the object in question would be both in and out of phase with multiple parallel realities.
"Like what's happening to that woman who took the lab and component." Hope noted.
Scott, Hank and Hope enter and Bill notices and says he's noticing an unusually high number of glazed out eyes among the students and dismisses the class early.
"See, recognized immediately." Scott said. "Hats and glasses aren't disguises."
Later, Scott talks with Bill who says it's incredible that he's linked with Janet and says it's quantum entanglement between the quantum states of Posner molecules in their brains.
"What does that even mean?" Scott asked.
Scott says that's exactly what he was thinking.
"Liar." Sam laughed.
Scott asks if they just put the word 'quantum' in front of everything.
"Yes they do." Hope said.
Hope tells Bill that they need to find their lab.
Bill says he'd love to help but he doesn't have anything like the equipment they're describing.
"Damn it." Hank sighed.
Hank says he told them this was a waste of time.
Bill tells Hank not to condescend because he's the one on the run from the FBI because he had to grow to a size that finally fit his ego.
"Does he think that it was you in Germany instead of Scott?" Clint asked.
Hank says it wasn't him in Germany but it was Scott.
Bill turns to Scott and says getting that big must've been exhausting.
Scott says he slept for 3 days straight and Bill has no idea.
"Wait, I did?" Scott asked.
"Sounds, worrying actually." Bruce said.
Bill says he does have an idea.
"Wait, what?" Tony asked.
Bill says he was Hank's partner on project Goliath back in the day and says the only thing more tiring than going that big is putting up with Hank's bullshit.
Hank shook his head and rolled his eyes.
Scott asks how big he got.
Bill says his record is 21ft.
Scott says that's not bad.
"I bet I can beat that." Scott said, with an appropriate amount of arrogance.
Bill asks what his is.
Scott says he got to 65ft.
"Damn!" Clint yelled.
"That's impressive." Gamora said.
Hope asks if they're done comparing sizes and says they need to figure out a way to track down the lab.
"We should have a running tally of how many times you get off track." Natasha said to Scott.
Bill asks if the great Hank Pym hasn't figured that out yet and says he had all the answers back in the day.
"Man, he really seems to hate you." Sam observed.
Bill says that's why he left the project.
Hank says he fired him.
Bill says that was the best decision he ever made because Hank was a terrible partner who was temperamental, stubborn and impatient.
"Here we go." Hope sighed, sensing an argument.
Bill says Hank pushed everyone away.
Hank says it was only the mediocrities.
Bill says Janet was the only one who could endure Hank and chose to stick it out.
Hank tensed at the mention of his wife and glared at Bill Foster.
Bill says Janet paid the price for it.
Hank looked ready to sock Bill on the mouth.
"That was too far." Peggy said.
"Yeah, what an asshole." Rhodey agreed.
Hank goes to attack Bill, Scott and Hope hold him back. Hope says she didn't come to listen to them squabble and says she's trying to save Janet. Scott notices FBI agents outside.
"Oh no." Scott said.
"That's not good." Hope added.
Scott says someone must've seen him.
Hank if this were about Scott, the FBI would be at his house.
"True." Scott begrudgingly agreed.
Hank checks the cameras and sees an ant playing the electric drums and asks Scott if he's 15.
"What, I can't have hobbies?" Scott asked, defensively.
They get ready to leave. Bill says they might be able to improvise the tracker if they modify the diffraction units on one of the regulators.
"Now he's being helpful." Clint said.
Hank says that could work.
Scott says he has no idea what that means. They leave.
"And you finally admit that you have no clue what's going on." Hope said, smirking.
Jimmy talks with Bill. Jimmy says the campus police says they ID'd both Hank and Hope.
Bill says he hasn't talked to Hank in 30 years and he's the last person Hank would visit.
"Given how much he hates you, I'm surprised he didn't give us away." Hope said.
Jimmy asks why that is.
Bill says they hate each other's guts.
"That much was obvious." Scott said.
Hank, Scott and Hope are in the van, Hank drives. Hank says Bill hasn't had a good idea in his unremarkable career.
"Wow." Howard said. "That's harsh."
Hope says Bill's idea about the diffractors could work.
Hank says Bill has had one decent idea.
Everyone in the room snorted at how quickly Hank just contradicted himself.
Hank says he eliminated the diffractors when he upgraded the suits.
"Damn it." Hope sighed.
Scott asks if they could track down the lab if they had an old suit.
Hank says they could but they don't have an old suit.
Scott asks what if they did.
"You didn't destroy it like I said to, did you?" Hank asked with a sigh.
Hope asks what he means.
Scott says life's funny.
Hope realizes Scott never destroyed the suit. Hank is angry.
"So you wanted me to destroy it, then you're mad at me for destroying it, and now you're mad that I never destroyed it?" Scott asked. "Make up your mind."
Scott says the suit was Hank's life's work and he couldn't destroy it. He says when he turned himself in he shrunk the suit down and mailed it to Luis.
"Oh my god." Hank sighed, feeling like he was going to have an aneurysm.
Hank is mad that Scott sent the suit through the mail. Scott says the postal service is very reliable.
"You don't really believe that do you?" Hope asked.
Scott says they do tracking numbers like UPS.
Hank asks where it is.
Scott says it's in a very safe place and tells Hank not to worry.
"Well, now I'm worried." Hank said.
Over the phone, Luis says the trophy isn't there.
Scott asks where it could be.
"Oh, you have got to be kidding me." Hank sighed.
"You put the suit in your 'world's best grandma' trophy?" Strange asked.
Luis says he looked everywhere and it isn't there.
Scott says he put it back after he and Cassie played with it and realizes she took it to show-and-tell.
"Oh my god." Hope sighed. Hank looked like he wanted to scream.
Scott tells Hank in Hope that the good news is he knows where the suit is.
"Things are not going well for you guys." Bucky noted.
Later, Scott and Hope fly into Cassie's school. Scott jokes that things are supposed to look smaller when they go back to school then says this place seems huge.
"Maybe it has something to do with you being the size on an insect." Sam said. "Just a thought."
Scott grows a little in size and falls and asks Hank what's going on with his suit and asks how much of a work in progress it is. Some kids come out of the classrooms.
"Oh no."
Scott goes into a janitor's closet and tries to fix the regulator. He ends up getting too big. Hope laughs at him.
Everyone laughed along with Hope.
Hope grows to normal size and removes the regulator cover. Hank asks what she sees.
Hope says the sizing coils are malfunctioning.
"Sounds about right." Hank said.
Hope tries to fix it, Scott get's shocked.
"Ouch." Scott said.
Hope presses some buttons on the regulator and closes it. Scott shrinks to normal size for a brief moment before he shrinks a little more.
"And now you're the size of the kids that go to this school." Hope joked.
Hope says if only cap could see him now.
"I am seeing it right now." Steve said and chuckled a little. Scott sighed, in embarrassment.
Scott asks what they're going to do. Hope looks at the 'Lost and Found' box.
"No." Scott said.
Scott walks out of the closet wearing a blue hoodie. A teacher notices him and asks where his hall pass is, mistaking him for a student.
"This is hilarious." Hope said.
Scott runs into another hallway and into Cassie's classroom. He sees her cubby at the top of the shelf and tries to jump and get it.
"Would you like some help, Scott?" Hope asked.
After a moment, Hope grows to normal size and grabs Cassie's bag. Scott opens the bag, grabs the trophy, takes the bottom off and removes the suit. The bell rings. Hope puts the bag back, shrinks down and they leave.
"Mission accomplished." Peter said.
Scott runs into the van. Hank asks him how school was and calls him champ.
"Very funny." Scott said, sarcastically.
Scott tells him to get his jokes out now and asks if he can fix the suit.
Hope comments on Scott being cranky.
Hank asks if he wants a juice box and string cheese.
"Jokes on you, that's my favorite snack." Scott said.
"You are a child in a man's body." Natasha said.
Scott asks if he really has that. Hank drives off.
"And now I want a juice box and string cheese." Scott said, disappointed. An apple juice and some string cheese dropped onto the arm of his chair.
Later, with Scott normal sized. Hank works with the old suit to see if Bill was right. The signal from the lab is detected.
Hank, Hope and Scott smiled, relieved. "It worked." Hope said, happily.
The van pulls up outside of Ava's house. Scott says this seems right.
"It's creepy and ominous." Scott said. "Of course the lab would be stashed there." Scott said.
Hope and Scott get into their suits. Scott comments about how they're teaming up twice in one day.
Hope says it makes them think about Germany.
"What?" Scott asked.
Scott asks what she means. Hope says they were working, training and other stuffing together.
Scott and Hope blushed and glanced around the room awkwardly.
Scott asks if she would've come if he asked.
Hope says they'll never know and says if she had come he wouldn't have been caught.
"That's probably true." Scott said.
"Of course it's true." Hope said.
Hope shrinks and flies off. Scott smiles, Hank looks at him and asks if he can stop daydreaming about Hope long enough to get the lab.
"Sorry." Scott said, blushing.
Scott shrinks and flies after hope. Hank looks at the security footage.
Hope asks Scott what took him so long.
Scott says he had to come up with a name for his ant.
"You liar." Hope said, giggling.
"I want to know what he's gonna name the ant." Clint said.
Scott says he's think about Ulysses S. Gr-Ant.
"I am living for these ant puns." Ned said.
"Right, they're top tier." Shuri said.
They fly into the house. Scott asks if she likes the name.
Hope says it's hilarious.
"10/10." Peter said.
Hank says he isn't getting anything on the monitors because there's an electric disturbance and tells them to be careful.
Scott says he's always careful before he sees Ava's mask and nearly falls off his ant.
"Always careful?" Sam asked.
"Sometimes careful." Scott said.
Hope says it's okay because it's just the suit.
Scott asks how she knows.
Hope directs his attention to the quantum chamber where Ava is and wonders what she's doing.
Scott asks if she thinks the suit is how she goes through walls.
"Well after what we saw earlier, no." Hope said.
Hope says they should leave before she wakes up.
"Good idea." Natasha said.
Scott sees the lab and they fly toward it. Scott asks if they're sure this is their shrunken building and not someone else's.
"How many people do you know with shrunken buildings?" Hank asked.
"I would really like to say that number is 0, but I can't." Scott said.
Hope tells him to take it because they need to be fast. They grow to normal size and Scott grabs the building. Hope notices that Ava is no longer in the chamber. Ava appears behind Hope and punches her.
"Shit." Hope swore.
"Stealing things back from the person who stole it from you is never easy, is it?" Scott asked.
Scott, Hope and Hank are tied to chairs. Scott wakes up and tries to wake Hope and Hank. Ava appears and says she doesn't think they can hear him then introduces herself as Ava.
"Well at least we have a name." Scott said.
Scott realizes she doesn't need the suit to phase.
Ava says it helps her control it and supposedly the pain too.
Scott asks if she's going to reach through his chest and crush his heart.
"Like the Evil Queen in Once Upon A Time." Peter said. "And The Queen of Hearts... and Rumpelstiltskin."
Ava says he's funny then bends down in front of him and says she won't hurt him unless she has to
"Comforting." Scott said.
Ava says she needs what's in his head.
"Why does she need what's in my head?" Scott asked.
Ava reaches to his head and her hands flicker then she wakes up Hope and Hank by kicking their chairs. Hope tells Ava not to touch Hank again.
Ava says she thinks she's being gentle with him all things considered.
"What is she talking about? 'All things considered.'?" Hank asked.
Hank asks what the hell she's talking about.
Bill says she's another casualty of Hank Pym's ego.
"They're working together?" Scott asked, shocked.
"Oh, great him again." Hope sighed.
Hank asks what Bill's done.
Ava corrects him and says it's what he's done.
"What?"
Scott says he thought Bill was cool.
Hope asks what's going on.
Ava says she doubts Hank's ever mentioned her father Elihas Starr.
Hank sighed, remembering the name.
Ava says they were collogues at SHIELD doing quantum research until Elihas dared to disagree with Hank and he had him fired and discredited.
"You really have pissed a lot of people off." Tony said.
Ava says Elihas tried to continue his research on his own so he took a lot risks.
"I don't like the sound of that." Natasha said.
In a flashback, Elihas' quantum tunnel overloads. Young Ava and her mother leave. The tunnel collapses, Ava runs back in and the building explodes.
"Oh god." Wanda gasped. Everyone watched in complete shock.
Ava says her parents were dead when she woke up but she wasn't so lucky.
Everyone felt a pang of sympathy for Ava. She was just a child when she lost her parents in such a tragic way.
In a flashback, firefighters find Ava in the wreck, the firefighter tries to touch Ava but his hands go through her.
"So, the collapsed tunnel did it to her." Hope noted, quietly.
Ava says it's called molecular disequilibrium and the name doesn't do justice to what it means. She says every cell in her body is torn apart and stitched back together over and over every day.
"That sounds painful." Rocket said.
"She just wants it to stop." Peggy said, sadly.
Bill says he was working at SHIELD when he got a call about a quantum anomaly in Argentina.
In a flashback, Bill greets Ava and says he was a friend of Elihas'. He hands her a bear, she tries to grab it but can't, she tries a second time and does grab it.
Everyone smiled slightly.
Ava says Bill did his best to keep her safe but others at SHIELD saw an opportunity in her affliction.
"Wasn't Bill working for SHIELD too?" Howard asked.
She says they built her a containment suit so she could control the phasing and they trained her to be a stealth operative. She says they weaponized her and she stole, spied and killed for them. She says in exchange for her soul they would cure her but they lied.
The SHIELD agents all looked uncomfortable hearing this. Others looked more skeptical, like they didn't want to believe it. Fury was an asshole but he wasn't that much of an asshole
Bill says he took Ava in when SHIELD collapsed and he built the chamber to slow her decay but her condition was progressive and he didn't know how to cure it.
"It's killing her?" Hope asked.
Scott's phone chimes. Bill says Ava wanted to kill Hank but he said no and said she could watch him instead and says she discovered that he was building the tunnel.
"Do- can the tunnel or- quantum realm help cure her, is that why she wants it?" Scott asked.
Scott's phone chimes. Bill says Ava told him about Scott and the message from Janet. Scott's phone chimes again and Bill get's frustrated.
"Who's texting you?" Hope wondered.
Bill walks toward his phone. Scott asks if he can tell him who's texting him.
Bill reads a message from Cassie that says '911.'
"Cassie!" Scott gasped, suddenly filled with worry. Did Cassie need help? Is she okay? Where is she? and countless other questions rolled around in his head.
Scott says that's his daughter and he needs to text her back.
Bill says that's not happening.
"She could be in trouble." Scott protested, angrily.
Scott says 911 means it's an emergency.
Bill says Scott is not making demands and he's not appreciating the gravity of the situation.
"I'm appreciating the gravity just fine, let me talk to my daughter, asshole." Scott said.
Scott's phone rings. Scott says Cassie is trying to video chat and tells Bill to let him talk to her because something could be wrong.
Bill answers the call and holds the phone to Scott who asks what the emergency is.
Cassie says she can't find her soccer shoes.
"She had me worried sick over her soccer shoes?" Scott asked with a sigh.
"I think you should talk to her about what constitutes an emergency." Hope said.
Cassie says she has a game tomorrow.
Maggie says she knows the shoes are at his house and asks if he could just walk around with the phone.
"Uh..." Scott said.
Scott says he can't do that because he's sick.
Maggie asks if he could look around for them and call her back.
Maggie, Cassie and Paxton tell Scott to feel better soon.
Bill hangs up. Scott apologizes and says the message said emergency.
"We really do need to go over what 911 means." Scott said.
Hank tells Ava that he wants to help her.
Bill says she doesn't need Hank's help because he knows how to save her.
"Does you, really?" Hank asked, skeptical.
Bill says Janet has been down there for 30 years absorbing quantum energy and says they can extract that energy and use it to repair Ava's molecular structure.
Hank asks if he's insane and says it'll rip Janet apart.
"There has to be a better way to help her. You can't sacrifice one life to save someone else's, especially an innocent one." Gamora said.
Bill says Hank doesn't know that and says he'll fire up his tunnel and when Janet's location pops into Scott's head he'll give it to him or he'll turn him over to the FBI.
"Oh great. I love being blackmailed." Scott said.
Bill says Hank will stay there in case he needs his help. He throws a disk at the chamber and shrinks it.
Hank refuses to help. Ava says he'll do whatever she says.
Hank glared at Ava.
Hank says they'll kill Janet.
Bill says Hank should be more worried about himself.
"Why's that?" Hank asked.
Hank looks to be in pain. Hope says Hank needs his pills because of his heart.
"Hank?" Everyone asked worried, except Hope who said "Dad?"
Hope says the pills are in the tin and begs Bill to help him because he could die.
Scott tells Bill to help Hank.
Hope tells Hank to keep breathing. Bill grabs the altoid tin and 6 giant ants emerge.
"So that's why you didn't let me have them." Scott said.
"I guess you could call it an Ant-oid tin." Ned said. "Get it, because there's ants in it."
Some ants free Scott, Hope and Hank. Scott tosses Hank and earpiece. Hope shoots Ava then grabs the building, Scott grabs the component and they leave.
