This story starts right after Beth is taken from the funeral home. She manages to find the emergency trunk release button to escape her kidnapper and Daryl, of course, comes to her rescue. The two survive and meet with the Claimers before going to Terminus and onwards. Beth survived Grady but she is alone and hurt, walking around the country before finding her way back to Daryl.
