With Rick bloody and raving in the middle of the street, everyone is relieved when Daryl intervenes. But no one is more surprised than Rick when the quiet compassion and loyalty the archer had always been known for very abruptly bleeds away into something aggressive and commanding. Maybe this is exactly what Rick needs. Maybe he has no idea what the hell he's gotten himself into.

Life was always trying to take every moment of their time. When Daryl and Beth strike up a friendship it's like they're managing to enjoy stolen moments. They soon get closer together and realize maybe they're more than friends.

I wanted to write an alternative to what happens in the comic and what will probably happen by the end of season 6. Rick realizes what's been missing in his hope for a new world and yet she's been by his side since the moment they met.

Three years have passed since that fateful day at Grady Memorial Hospital and he still sees her. Blond hair and blue eyes haunt him every night while he sleeps and he knows he will never recover from the loss of her.
