Carol worries for Daryl.

For some reason I couldn't carry on writing my longer story after Sunday episode. I needed to get it out of my chest and here is the result. SPOILERS, S03E15 Sure, Merle was a jerk, but I guess we all loved him in some strange crooked way, and it hurts to know we won't see him again. Merle, kick some ass on the other side!

When Joanna runs into Merle Dixon in Atlanta she finds herself unable to walk away from him and instead offers her help and company. Together the two find their way to Woodbury but when Joanna goes on a supply run she comes across a prison with some unusual survivors inside. (Merle/OC/Daryl)

Jo lost everyone she cared about when the dead started eating the living. Daryl comforted her and has fought to show her he loves her... and she loves him. Will they ever be able to have a "normal" life together? Can Jo forget her past and allow herself to fall in love? Is it true? Is love a basic necessity?

Set directly after s3-e15 Daryl wanders back to The Prison and grieves in Merle's cell while crying into one of his brother's shirts.

I knew that Daryl would survive the disease. He was going to make it however long the world was in peril. As I watched him go, I wondered about my own fate. I didn't know how to hunt or shoot a gun. I had never been in a position where I had to survive with only the clothes on my back and a knife. "Wait." I said, walking after him. He turned. "Just in case I don't see you again."
