Chapter 382
Find Out More
The scouting teams in New Mexico reported back to the Command Center. Al's team was soon able to make contact with Dan's team, everything was OK.
John was increasingly worried as the time went by without any word. He was pleased with the new information.
"It's good news." John said.
John Henry tried to find out what went wrong and what happened. He checked further as he conversed with John.
"Indeed…." John Henry said.
John could see John Henry looked at numerous images. It looked like a lot of things were reviewed. He hoped there was a break in the information which would lead them to additional targets. If there was a threat, they needed to deal with it.
"Did they find out much?" John asked.
John Henry didn't like what they found. The enemy may have tracked Cameron's moves somehow. They might be looking for her. It brought the trouble home. It raised the threat level where they were at.
"They found nothing additional about Skynet, but maybe a lead on the hostile Terminators. It comes right back here to our area." John Henry said. "It's a wild goose chase."
John wondered where John Henry picked the term up at. It was clear the threat level just went up in their area.
"Do we know how many there are, or even where to look?" John asked.
The information available so far was limited. John Henry did note one interesting discovery.
"There are possibly two Terminators. One may be female." John Henry said. "They found female garments at one location."
John swallowed hard. He was worried about the nature of the clothes. He was more worried about the reason why someone wasn't wearing them.
"Are they Cameron's?" John asked.
John was worried because Cameron fell into the hands of 'sex traffickers' at some point. He was afraid she may have been abused when she was incapacitated, she said she hadn't been. He doubted she would tell him the truth anyway. It made him wonder about Cameron's past, the future. He doubted he would ever know the truth about all of it. He didn't understand how deep Cameron's 'fears' were about the same things. They troubled her incessantly.
John Henry noted John's apprehension. He wanted to put him at ease.
"It's doubtful." John Henry said. "Dan reported they're not Cameron's style. They were very basic. There was no clothing which would be considered Tight."
It didn't ease John much to know there was another female Terminator out there Cameron would try to apprehend. He didn't like all the games she played with the other female Terminators. She made her plans clear several times to him. They were forefront in his mind right now. He wanted some preemptive action for a change. He would rather set the narrative than Cameron. He wanted to act, rather than react.
"I want the female Terminator this time. I don't want Cameron to get a hold of her." John said. "She will try to replace herself with her. I can tell. I know it is coming, again. I can sense it."
John could feel Cameron was ready to bolt again. She seemed ready to run from him and everyone else. It was all so hard for him to understand. Everyone loved Cameron.
John Henry decided now wasn't a good time to tell John of his recent discussion with Cameron. He decided Cameron most likely already must have done it. The only way he could tell Cameron from the clones was to scan her right breast. It was the breast which was severely damaged several times. It was slightly smaller now after the second time it was blown to shreds. It was mostly obliterated at one point. He was aware the nipple never regenerated until she re-infused her DNA processor with a fresh sample from Allison. The clones were still the same as Allison. The difference would be undetectable to a non Terminator.
He saw no need to mention it to John. It was bound to cause John to worry about something which was completely non-functional in regards to a human female. It was something Cameron wasn't. There were times when he believed John treated her as one. He didn't think it was fair to Cameron. She was still a cyborg at the end of the day, no matter how advanced she became with her programming and emotional response.
He also noted Cam and Cammy often approached him at an angle where he couldn't do a thermal scan for their actual dimensions. It was something Cameron did as well. He refocused on the operation. He thought it was best if they did a thorough check on everything before they pulled out of the area.
"I'll have them spend a day or two more to check things out before I have them return home." John Henry said. "I'll get a team out looking at possible locations here."
John wanted to keep the information under wraps about the new female Terminator. He wondered if it was even possible anymore. He didn't want to be too explicit in what he really wanted to indicate.
"Is there any way to keep Cameron from learning of this?" John asked.
John Henry was sure CamNet was in his system. Cameron would know everything he knew, and more, from CamNet.
"No." John Henry said. "She knows everything and is everywhere."
John compressed his lips slightly and shook his head.
"Beautiful…." John said. "Absolutely beautiful…."
John Henry knew CamNet most likely monitored everything which happened at the Resistance base. It most likely included his discussions with John. Sometimes he wondered how much information was too much information to know on certain things. He was sure CamNet tracked the movements of the girls from room to room at night.
It was something he often did too. He would usually take it a step further when there was activity in Jesse's room. The door was normally not closed tight. He knew it was a sign for anyone who wanted to join them, to come in. He couldn't help but smile at his last thought. He would usually find something he needed to do and pass by the room and take a look inside. Over the years he amassed quite a few files about the activity which occurred inside along with those involved. He knew he wasn't the only one to make clandestine overtures into the girls' rooms. John, Savannah, and Sarah often made brief visits to look. The first two didn't surprise him, the last one did. Sometimes he was sure Sarah would enter one of the rooms with an open door. It never appeared John, or Savannah, would.
Things were different now for Savannah. He believed she was just getting started. She often told him she was going to do everything Vanna did by choice. He knew it covered quite a lot of things. He just hoped she never needed to do any of the things Vanna did which weren't her choice. There were quite a few of them.
CamNet monitored the information and notified Cameron about the enemy Terminators. She sent Ally and Summer out as one team, and Ron and Ronny as the other team. She made sure Ally personally delivered Savannah back to Cammy. Summer was to remain outside.
Sheila was needed to operate the TDE at her base. She was about to try a 'scheduled' contact with River and Duplicate Cameron. It was set up when she visited before. It was to prevent anyone from becoming alarmed by the appearance of an energy bubble. Everything was supposed to happen on the TDE pad at Cameron's base.
Cameron previously took a sample of Claire's DNA. She wanted the other female Terminator to be Resequence as 'Claire'. They would use the 'Neural Interface' to make the Resequenced Terminator as much like Claire as possible. It would be the same method as the way Ally, Hanna, and Sheila were interfaced with the girls. 'Metal Claire' could take over the 'wifely duties' from Claire with her husband. Maybe she would set the age regression of 'Metal Claire' as a teenager. It should appeal to everyone. She knew it would keep Paul around and happy. It would also keep him protected. Few of the 'working girls' she encountered were still disease free. They were usually contaminated within the first thirty men with a disease for which there was no cure. Some of the diseases were fatal, most of the others were not.
Cameron called Hanna to inform her of the change in plans.
"Hanna, cancel your infiltration mission on Paul Young." Cameron said.
Hanna didn't want to stop. She already made plans on what she intended to do. It was now a compulsion to her. She already prepared herself for her upcoming mission. She reviewed numerous videos online as well as read encounters of other females with male partners. From what she gathered, the majority of females were somewhat dissatisfied with their involvement with males. Some of them never achieved a finish. For others, they were lucky if it was once in five or six times. Very few of them were satisfied all of the time. It seemed those who were, were usually the most promiscuous. The ones who were unable to achieve a finish were the least active. Somehow it all seemed understandable. She really wasn't sure why there was such a variation in a female's response compared to a male's. They were totally different from each other in many ways. She didn't want to give up her goal easily. She was well prepared for everything which would follow.
"I don't want to stop." Hanna said. "I'm ready to experiment. I'm ready to initiate contact. He will be mine after our first coupling."
Cameron didn't need a new problem. Hanna was to remain pure for John again. Maybe a threat would daunt Hanna's desires. It was a real threat too. She would make her position as clear as possible.
"There will be no coupling. Do you want to be reprogrammed?" Cameron asked. "You are for Claire only at this time. Do you wish to be replaced? Sheila or Ally will gladly take your place. You can be replaced and reprogrammed in an instant. You can be terminated as well."
Hanna knew Cameron wasn't bluffing. She was aware of the other female Terminators Cameron deactivated. Being with Claire wasn't an 'assignment' to her any longer. The emotional bonding was as complete as her programming allowed. She didn't want to lose what she currently possessed. She didn't want Sheila or Ally to get a foothold either.
"I love Claire." Hanna said. "I won't jeopardize what we share. I'll comply with your demands."
Cameron expected nothing less. Even with her upcoming plans, she wanted to remind everyone who was the one in charge, especially when it came to the other Terminators.
"Good." Cameron said curtly. "I don't need any more problems than I already have."
Hanna wanted to know what the alternate situation would be now. Something still needed to be done. The issue needed to be addressed. Claire didn't wish to be with a male any longer.
"What about Paul?" Hanna asked. "What happens next and how?"
Cameron figured she could always recruit some females who arrived fresh into town at the bus station. It was what the traffickers did too. She would scan them and 'turn' them herself. She would use drugs to make them compliant and willing to do anything. She wondered if she could become Skynet as easily as she just thought of becoming a sex trafficker. She knew the enemy so well, it was easy to become the enemy in the blink of an eye. She'd just witnessed the proof of it.
It could also be done through monetary means. Some of those arriving in town were looking for their 'big break'. She could provide them one, with plenty of cash. Somehow it seems like a better choice than using drugs. She would rather let the person be motivated by their own greed, instead of the need for narcotics. It didn't really matter how she did it. She would be able to do it.
"I'll make sure he has females available if it's necessary." Cameron said. "I don't think it will be, it hasn't been so far. He's a good man, even if he's a poor husband. He still loves his family."
Vanna was aware of Paul's wandering eyes. It was very obvious to her where his gaze often ended up at. She didn't want to mention everyone by name, other than the two most obvious choices.
"I don't like the way he looks at Vanna." Hanna said. "At least he doesn't look at Allison the same way anymore. He used to…."
Cameron knew how Paul looked at her too. It was an uncomfortable feeling. She needed to give Hanna some more slack to protect Vanna. She didn't want her accosted or pressured in a negative way related to males. Enough of it already occurred. There wasn't going to be any more.
"You're to keep Vanna safe. She must remain available for John. I want you to inform Cam and Holly." Cameron said. "If it becomes necessary or unavoidable, you will take Vanna's place…."
Hanna was surprised to see Cameron backtrack some. It was unlike her. Cameron was more willing to make trades rather than issue absolutes. It was what she would have done anyway if the situation ever arose.
"Everything is understood." Hanna said. "I've got it. I'll enact the revised infiltration mission and stay within the original parameters."
Cameron could see there were evolving possibilities. She questioned whether they made the Young residence large enough. It was something which could always be done going forward.
"Yes. It's the mission at this time, for now anyway." Cameron said. "Maybe we should have added more rooms to the house, or a second story above ground."
Hanna thought about the earlier confrontation with Allison and Vanna. Cam and Holly seemed just as displeased once they were told everything by Vanna and Allison.
"Holly doesn't like any of this." Hanna said. "Allison likes it even less. She was very adamant about what was not going to happen while she was there."
Cameron thought she could pacify Holly. There were ways to work around some of the issues. It was one of the reasons why she allowed clones of her to exist. She didn't always have to do the 'dirty work', someone else could.
"I'll speak with Cam and see if she can 'help' with Holly." Cameron said.
Hanna understood the statement for what it was.
"Does it mean Cam gets to stay your clone?" Hanna asked.
Cameron felt helpless at times. Things which should happen or work out, didn't always go as planned. It was all so overwhelming at times. A glitch impulse shot through her left hand. It was something she could do without right now.
"I need to make all this work." Cameron said. "I need you all to help me. I can't do EVERYTHING on my own. I need help. I need to go."
Hanna smiled as she hung up. It just gave all of them a lot of leeway. The underground bunkers would be good for Terminator hookups…. If Cam was 'available', Holly would have to wait her turn. Hanna was ready to cut to the front of the line.
If Cameron wanted all of them to help her, they could help themselves along the way. None of them felt the same 'hang ups' as Cameron did. It really made her wonder what Cameron's problems were really all about.
She planned to keep her eye on Allison, especially when Holly was involved with Cam. It wouldn't surprise her at all, if she was busy with Allison and Vanna was there as well, she would probably hook up with Claire. It was clear Claire and Vanna exchanged a lot of glances with each other when they thought no one was looking. It seemed the only thing holding Vanna back was the fact Claire was Allison's mother. She didn't believe Claire suffered from the same inhibition as Vanna did. Either way, if one of them made their move, things would rapidly escalate.
Savannah returned to Cammy. She told Cammy what she could but asked her not to ask about some things. It caused her a certain amount of emotional stress. She learned to lie to protect a mission. She didn't want to lie to the ones she loved.
"Cameron has asked for my help on some things." Savannah said. "I don't want to lie to you ever, Cammy. If I can't talk about something right now, I ask you to leave it at that. Please."
Cammy tilted her head slightly. She wondered what the difference actually was. It seemed to be a 'lie of omission' to her. It didn't seem like a good idea to pursue the issue. She was sure she would find out soon enough.
"I understand." Cammy said.
Cammy didn't understand. She could see Savannah was worried about something.
Savannah didn't want to seem indifferent to Cammy. She wanted to phrase her statement carefully. She didn't want things to become 'lies of omission'.
"I know Cameron hasn't always been forthcoming with all the facts." Savannah said. "I ask you to be honest with me, ALWAYS. If you can't be, you need to tell me. I'll understand. I don't want lies. I want our relationship pure and honest. I want the REAL you. I want what you gave River."
Cammy knew as 'Cameron' she lied all the time. Cameron seldom lied to Savannah and never to River, she couldn't. It was what fascinated Cameron about River, one of things anyway. It was the fact she needed to be who she really was. River could tell when she wasn't. She also wanted to remind Savannah which 'Cameron' it actually was, even if she possessed the same files herself.
"It was Duplicate Cameron, not me. I'm still only a copy and clone of Cameron, Savannah." Cammy said. "I can never be Cameron Prime. I'm Cammy, period. You must never forget it."
Savannah believed differently. From her perspective there was no difference. When Cammy gave her those 'special moments' when they were alone, she always thought of Cameron.
"It's the same program." Savannah said. "You're both identical to me."
Cammy moved over and held Savannah, they embraced tightly.
"Thank You, Savannah." Cammy said. "I KNEW you would understand."
The look of love was in Savannah's eyes.
"I've always loved you, 'Cameron'." Savannah said.
Cammy felt a little overwhelmed. Savannah was everything to her. She was still a clone and not the 'real' thing. She actually didn't want to be the 'real' thing. It would mean Cameron was terminated and she needed to take her place. It would remove her from Savannah's arms, and place her in John's arms instead as 'Cameron'.
"Cammy." Cammy said. "It has to be Cammy."
Savannah felt very emotional right now. 'Cammy' was her pet name for Cameron since she was a young girl.
"It's the beauty of it. You always were 'Cammy' to me." Savannah said. "I've called Cameron 'Cammy' for years."
Cammy smiled and hugged Savannah again. She knew it was true too. It reminded her Savannah was the only one who never gave up on Cameron. It was more than love which drove the belief.
"You're like no other." Cammy said. "I hope you know how much it means to Cameron and me."
Savannah wiped a tear away. There was still some 'business' which needed to be addressed. She was sure it was going to cause more than one person a lot of distress, if not be an outright problem. Her face took on a very serious look.
"Cammy, I need you to promise me something." Savannah said.
Cammy noted the change in Savannah's demeanor. She wasn't sure what was about to happen. She wasn't sure it was going to be a good thing either. It didn't seem like it based on the previous conversation.
"I'll do whatever I can for you." Cammy said. "You know I will."
Savannah paused for a moment. She wanted to make herself clear or her reasoning clear anyway. Not everything that was 'wrong', was wrong to the person who did it based on the reason why.
"There may be a time in the future when it looks like I'm making a big mistake." Savannah said. "I need you to understand it's something I need to do. It's not a mistake to me. It's all that should matter. It's my choice. It's my decision. It isn't a spur of the moment event either. It's something I thought about and decided upon. It's something very important to me."
Cammy looked worried. What was Savannah referring to? It sounded strangely serious, even if it wasn't intended to. Savannah's safety was her primary concern. It seemed to her there were certain boundaries which couldn't be crossed without her intervention.
"I must protect you." Cammy said. "I can't allow harm to happen to you."
Savannah understood Cammy's instincts to protect her. She needed Cammy to override those instincts when the moment she feared she would need to act would occur. It was something very personal to her. She looked Cammy in the eyes. She placed Cammy's hand on her neck. She wanted Cammy to know she meant what she said and asked for.
"I'm asking you not to stop me." Savannah said. "I need you to know, I know what I'll be doing. It's something I MUST do to help someone."
Cammy understood the seriousness of Savannah's request to its fullest extent right now. It could be terminal. It seemed Savannah told her about two different things without being specific on either one.
"Will you be terminated?" Cammy asked very worried.
Savannah still looked Cammy in the eyes. She wanted her resolve and commitment to be clear. Her actions were not to be taken lightly. They were thought out and calculated.
"More than likely I will be." Savannah said. "I still must do it. It's my choice."
Cammy hand was firmly on Savannah's neck. She was more worried than ever now. Savannah just indicated she was willing to sacrifice herself for what she believed in. It went against every protocol in her program.
"I don't know if I can allow it." Cammy said.
Savannah hoped Cammy's love for her would overpower her programming at the time. It was the only way it would go forward.
"When it happens, you will understand." Savannah said. "It's for BOTH of us."
Cammy still scanned Savannah. Whatever she was talking about, she wasn't lying. It was clear Savannah believed it, or believed in it. She knew it would make Savannah even more determined to do whatever she thought she needed to do. She also understood love was about sacrifice. Savannah asked her to sacrifice, as she sacrificed herself for her love.
"I'll try." Cammy said.
Savannah wanted more than for Cammy to 'try'. She needed commitment.
"I need more than 'try'." Savannah said. "I need you to promise me you will let me do what I'll need to do."
Cammy didn't want to, but she established overrides for her safety protocols for Savannah. She thought it was a mistake, but she loved Savannah. She didn't want to fail her personally, even if to fail Savannah was what would happen in reality. A glitch impulse shot through her left hand.
"I promise, Savannah." Cammy said. "Let's just be alone for now, together."
Cammy couldn't lose Savannah. She knew Savannah was very determined and focused. She decided to try to find out more. She would try to prevent whatever Savannah referred to, before it could ever get to the point of a 'one way ticket'.
Savannah and Cammy faced each other. Their love was strong and beautiful.
Savannah took Cammy's left hand and led her to the bed. Words were unnecessary right now. Right now it was just them. Each other is what both of them wanted.
'Good Rockin' Tonight' by 'The Head Cat', played in the background as Cammy and Savannah loved each other….
Closing monologue by Cameron:
Find Out More
Where does a search begin
Where does the search end
Will the results be something to defend
Will they be something to contend
It may be the root problem
If one does not know what they seek
It could be something unique
Perhaps even twisted and oblique
When an empty heart knocks
Who can hear its lonely rasp
Even when it is right in front of them
It remains just out of grasp
When believing is not seeing
Then seeing is not believing
Is it all about perceiving
Or thieving through deceiving
Be mindful of the one to adore
There may not be an encore
Everything one must first explore
It is needed to find out more
Nobody
