Chapter 387
I Love You Too
Summer was disrespectful of Cameron. Savannah didn't like it.
A short time later, Summer became disrespectful of Cammy and then Savannah as well. When she made a provocative move against John, Savannah took Summer down with her Taser.
John was with Bob. He decided it was best if they left the area. It seemed his presence there would only further complicate things. It actually seemed to be what sparked them in the first place. He didn't make any comment about what he witnessed as they left.
Cameron looked at Summer sprawled on the ground. She glanced at Cammy and Ally.
"I'll pull her chip." Cammy said.
Savannah thought about doing it herself. She was still steamed. Summer's disrespect for Cameron still bothered her greatly. She didn't care for the insult to Cammy or her either.
"No." Savannah said. "Let the 'Bitch Whore' reboot."
Savannah took Cammy's Taser. She wanted to 'zap' Summer a few more times.
"I want to say 'Hello' to her again." Savannah said. "I want her to see me put her down one more time. I want her to know it was me."
Cammy and Cameron looked at each other. Savannah was overly agitated right now. It wasn't her normal behavior. It was very disturbing to observe.
Cammy didn't want to make things worse.
"I think this can end now instead." Cammy said.
Savannah switched the Taser to her left hand and pulled out her knife with her right hand.
"I'll pull her chip myself." Savannah said. "I didn't like what she said about Cameron and Cammy, or the way she looked at me. She's a threat to John."
Savannah liked it even less the way Summer made a 'personal move' on John. She was jealous, even if she didn't want to be. She was. The part about 'claiming' John and 'replacing' Cameron was just a little bit too far for things to go.
Ally tried to warn Summer to back off, but she didn't listen. She thought Savannah's reaction was almost as outlandish.
"Is she a threat to you?" Ally asked Savannah.
Savannah advanced on Summer. She only would have so much time before the reboot would happen. She needed to get things taken care of quickly. If she didn't get the chip pulled in time, she would need to use Cammy's Taser. She was more than willing to do so. She wasn't really sure she cared for Ally's question either. It seemed to her the evidence before them should answer any questions.
"What does it look like?" Savannah asked. "She's the one stretched out on the ground."
Ally thought it was a good time to be away from the area. It was very toxic right now. She didn't want any of Summer's actions to come back on her. She believed she gave Summer plenty of warnings about what was going to happen. She actually expected it to happen from Cameron. She headed to where the Grays were being held. She was supposed to free up Ron and Ronny anyway.
Cameron wondered where a reprogrammed copy of her own chip went wrong again. She really thought she 'fixed' Summer to NOT be like her.
Savannah bent down to remove Summer's chip. Cameron touched her shoulder to stop her. She took out her 'shocker'. The 'shocker' would send a pulse of electricity through Summer to prevent a reboot from completing. It would force a restart of the procedure from the beginning each time.
"Enough." Cameron said. "I have this. I don't want her cut up."
Cameron stuck the 'shocker' on Summer's neck to keep her from rebooting. She didn't want Summer's beauty marred.
The atmosphere was very tense.
Cameron handed Cammy her own Taser.
"You wait here." Cameron said.
Cameron retrieved the fired Taser from the ground. Savannah still held the one she took from Cammy. It was pointed at Summer the whole time, just in case.
Cameron saw Savannah upset before at HER. She didn't like the feeling to have Savannah angry at her. This was different. Savannah acted to protect John and her this time. Savannah stepped up on her own to act. It was a genuine reaction and John witnessed it. Savannah wasn't afraid to protect the future and her place in it. It was her goal. She wanted everyone to see it including John.
She wanted Savannah to move to the next part of the operation she planned out. She was still a little uneasy at how upset and angry Savannah was. It was clear everything was very personal to her on several levels.
"Keep Cammy's Taser. Put your knife and it away." Cameron said to Savannah. "Come with me."
Savannah followed Cameron into the building. She didn't even look back at Summer. She resisted the urge to kick Summer in the face as she passed. She needed to check herself. She was still very angry and highly agitated. She knew now wasn't the time to let something personal affect her judgment. They were still in the middle of an operation which hadn't quite concluded yet.
They headed for the location of the two Grays who were held captive.
Ally looked up as they approached.
"Do they have any useful information?" Cameron asked.
Ally looked at one of the Grays. The other one was flat on the floor.
"There's none he cares to share." Ally said. "The other one is terminated."
Cameron wanted two prisoners for Savannah to terminate. She wanted her to terminate the first one, and make sure she could terminate the second one later on. She wanted to 'harden' Savannah. She was irritated her plan wasn't carried out as she intended it to be.
"Why is the other Gray terminated?" Cameron asked.
Ally looked at the dead Gray and shrugged her shoulders. She didn't think she did anything wrong based upon the circumstances. It wasn't anything which wouldn't have happened under similar conditions anywhere else.
"He mouthed off and tried to grab me." Ally said. "I crushed his spine."
Cameron stood before the other man. He let off a long line of threats and insults. It irritated both Savannah and Ally.
Ally was still upset over the earlier incident with Summer and with what happened with the terminated Gray. She wasn't in the mood for more trouble. She wanted the Gray to know exactly where he stood. It was nowhere. She shoved the man against the wall. The impact smashed a big hole in the drywall as he fell to the ground. He moaned and tried to move.
Cameron looked at Savannah. It was time to end things.
"Let's wrap this up." Cameron said. "There's nothing to be gained here."
Cameron waited for Savannah to act. She wanted Savannah to act on her own. She didn't. She decided to prompt Savannah.
"Finish him, Savannah." Cameron said. "We can go."
Savannah hesitated. She looked at Cameron and then an Ally. It was something she expected one of the Terminators to do. She hadn't been on many operations. What Cameron wanted her to do was something she hadn't done before.
"Doesn't one of you want to do it?" Savannah asked.
Cameron tried to prompt Savannah again.
"He's a Gray." Cameron said. "Finish him. He's the enemy. This is part of the job."
Savannah drew her Glock but hesitated. The Gray was injured and unarmed. It troubled her some. She didn't like the earlier insults from Summer either. There was a lot going on inside her mind. Her pistol was still pointed at the Gray's head.
Ally knew what Cameron wanted. She thought of two things which might silently motivate Savannah. One was Summer, the other was the thought of Cameron 'testing' on humans again. Based upon the earlier incident at Cameron's base, she believed she knew which one would prompt Savannah more. She decided to throw it out there and see what would happen.
"Shall I bring the Gray in for the 'Neural Interface'?" Ally asked. "I can bring him back to your base."
Savannah cringed at what she heard. It wasn't going to happen.
A single shot rang out. The struggling Gray slumped over.
Savannah looked at Cameron and Ally. She put her Glock away.
"Let's get the 'Bitch Whore' and go." Savannah said. "We're done here."
Cameron was pleased Savannah acted. She wanted to reassure Savannah about her actions and everything else. Everything Savannah did is exactly what she wanted her to do. She would have preferred if there wasn't as long of a delay with the Gray as there was. It didn't really matter. The end result was the same.
"Everything you've done tonight has been the right choice, Savannah." Cameron said. "I want you to understand it. Every action protected John or the future. They were all the right things to do."
Savannah already questioned her actions. Was she too rash in any of them? There was doubt in her mind. Maybe she should have let someone else take the lead with Summer and the Gray. No. The future was an ugly place and she needed to be ready for it.
"It doesn't feel like it sometimes." Savannah said. "If the 'Bitch Whore' hadn't got me so upset, I may not have killed the Gray. Under the conditions, I was very hesitant to do so."
Ally didn't see what the big deal was. Someone needed to do it. It was how things were done.
"Why not?" Ally asked. "Then I would've needed to do it. He was a Gray. He needed to die. He's dead. It's just how things work."
Cameron anticipated the hesitation Savannah would feel. She thought she took steps to make it 'easier' for Savannah. Maybe she would need to explain it a little better.
"Each 'next one' is easier than the one before it, Savannah. There's a war coming. You need to be ready to fight and protect John and Young Allison." Cameron said. "They will all depend on you. Your children will depend on you…."
Savannah didn't want to hear what she already knew. She did what needed to be done, when it needed to be done.
"OK, I get it." Savannah said. "I know what needs to be done. I may not like it sometimes, but I know what I need to do. I did it. I've killed in self defense and I've killed in cold blood. I did what needed to be done."
Savannah wasn't pleased with the cold-blooded killings. She knew if she didn't do it, one of the Terminators would need to do it instead. It was still going to happen no matter what. It didn't matter now. It was done.
Cameron could see Savannah was conflicted. She wanted to give her some reassurance.
"You acted perfectly." Cameron said. "You've learned to act without hesitation."
Savannah wondered about all her actions. Maybe Summer just wanted to give John a hug. She didn't give her the chance. One of the Terminators could have killed the Gray. They'd killed all the rest of them. What did she 'learn'? She wasn't sure it was anything.
"I don't know what I've learned." Savannah said.
Savannah thought she learned to act like a Terminator. She learned to take the human equation out of it. She thought she tried to teach the Terminators to put some humanity in their actions. She wanted them to be more like her. Cameron wanted her to be more like them. It looked like Cameron won this one. There wasn't much she could do about it at this point.
She believed Cameron wanted her to kill both of the Grays. She wondered how much of the event was orchestrated to make her do so. She pulled her Glock out again. She pointed it at the head of the Gray who Ally killed. She fired one shot. She took a moment to look at Cameron before she started to walk away. She believed she did what Cameron wanted her to do. The second Gray was just to emphasize what she did with the first one, even if he was already dead.
Cameron felt she accomplished her goal. They were done there. She looked at Ally.
"Torch this place." Cameron said.
Savannah wondered if maybe she should burn it down herself. It was all part of the job.
Cameron looked at Savannah and Cammy. She looked at Summer's sprawled form on the ground. She still lay like she fell. She waited for the next pulse to shock Summer and turned the 'shocker' off. She picked Summer up and put her in the back of her SUV. She restarted the 'shocker'. There was still an ongoing operation. Savannah didn't need to go there. She decided to send them back to the base.
"Cammy, you can take Savannah back home in Ally's SUV. Ally will ride with me." Cameron said.
Cameron went to Savannah and gave her a hug. It looked like she needed some reassurance. Maybe she needed a little reassurance herself. She wasn't very pleased about the chain of events she orchestrated. It was bound to come out sooner, rather than later.
"You were perfect, Savannah." Cameron said. "I'm proud of you."
Savannah looked back at the building and at the back of Cameron's SUV. She didn't feel the same way. She wasn't sure what she felt. Whatever it was, it wasn't a good feeling. She tried to tell herself everything she did, needed to be done. If she wouldn't have done it, one of the other members of the team would have.
"Thanks, Cameron." Savannah said. "I don't feel proud of myself."
Cameron wanted Savannah to refocus. She mustn't lose sight of the big picture. There was a lot which happened, but there was a lot more to happen if they didn't stop Skynet.
"You need to remember what these people have taken from Vanna, Allison, and Jesse." Cameron said. "Remember what Skynet has done to them, their bodies, and reproductive tracts. The fact Skynet has killed their children before they can even be born must be remembered. We need to prevent it for everyone. I promise the next Gray you need to kill will be easier. These people have to pay for their actions. They will do them all again if we don't stop them."
Savannah thought about what Cameron just said. Vanna and Jesse were barren. Allison could count on Claire, she was lucky. The chain of thought only reaffirmed her earlier personal decision. She needed to act before she couldn't. It was important she followed through on what she knew needed to be done. She knew where she could obtain what she needed and remain somewhat in the shadows.
"Cameron, when this operation is finished, I want to see Jesse, MY Jesse again." Savannah said. "I want to talk with her in person, and in private."
Cameron wanted to give Savannah a reward. The trip seemed like a pretty good one to her. She could make it happen. She wasn't sure what the 'personal' nature of it was though. If it was 'personal', she didn't think she should ask. Maybe Savannah wanted to further the relationship into something steadier. She hoped the girls would choose to live at the Resistance base, or even her base, instead of Australia. She began to question her own actions now. Maybe she pushed Savannah too far, too fast.
"We're finished here. Cammy can take you to Australia tonight." Cameron said. "It's a long flight. You can rest on the way."
Savannah expected some 'push back' or being 'questioned'. Instead everything she asked for was granted in just a second. She wondered if maybe she hurt Cameron in some way.
"Just like that?" Savannah asked.
Cameron loved Savannah deeply. She wanted to please her in any way she could. She always tried to make sure Savannah received what she desired. Sometimes it took a little longer or an indirect path. It still happened in the end.
"Yes, I'll do anything for you I can." Cameron said. "Haven't I always? No matter what you've 'asked' for?"
Savannah looked at Cammy. She swallowed hard. She went and gave Cameron a long hug. Cameron always delivered, even 'herself'.
Cameron kissed Savannah on the cheek.
Savannah looked at Cameron, then at Cammy, and back to Cameron.
"I love you, Cameron." Savannah said.
The answer was a little surprising, even if it wasn't.
"I love you too, Savannah." Cameron and Cammy said at the same time.
All three of them understood. Everyone played a role. Everyone was happy.
John left the wild scene of the last location behind him. Bob drove him toward the area where Steve's team was at. He tried to go over all of the events. It seemed the more he did, the less he knew.
"How long will it be until we arrive?" John asked.
Bob could see John was still a little shaken.
"It will be a few minute." Bob said. "Nothing has happened yet."
John really wondered what happened where they just were.
"What did you see earlier?" John asked.
Bob wasn't sure. He thought he witnessed something which was orchestrated in some way. It seemed to get out of hand. It seemed best to stay away from it.
"From here, it looked like a nightmare." Bob said. "It's better if we let Cameron deal with it."
John doubted it. He liked the way Summer looked. He didn't think she was going to hurt him. She already offered to allow him to touch her. Maybe it was best not to dwell on it. He did like the way Savannah looked out for him and responded to him. He really hoped Cameron put her in his bed like she did with the other girls. Well, the human ones anyway. He was ready for Summer or Savannah. He really didn't care which one. He actually hoped it would be both. He looked around.
"We're here already?" John asked.
Bob looked at John. They were there for nearly a minute. He was a little concerned about John's mental state. His mind still seems to be at the previous location. He didn't think it was a good thing. There weren't any good answers for what they witnessed.
"Yes." Bob said. "You need to refocus. There will most likely be combat here."
John felt a little embarrassed. He did need to refocus. He wanted to know what transpired since his last update.
"What's happening inside the building?" John asked.
John Henry relayed to John what mattered for now.
"Steve has moved inside to check it out." John Henry said. "What happened at the other location?"
John Henry received some disturbing footage from the body cameras.
John didn't want to go there. He didn't want to be distracted.
"It's nothing I want to talk about until we get back." John said.
Bob could see John was still uneasy. He noticed how John looked at Summer.
"Summer is beautiful, John." Bob said. "Cameron will work on her program."
John was sure of it and what 'changes' would be made. Maybe everything he witnessed was just a test or a trial run. He could only draw one conclusion.
"The next time I see Summer, she'll be 'Cameron'." John said.
Bob wanted to clarify his assumption. Unless Cameron physically switched her chip into Summer's chassis. Summer would only be a 'program clone', and not a real clone since her sheath was different.
"You mean she'll have a copy of Cameron's program." Bob said. "Remember, Cameron is her program to her, to us. Don't disrespect her. It disrespects all of us."
John didn't want to cause any more problems. He also believed Summer's appearance would benefit him, other than just its beautiful appearance. It would be different from Cameron's appearance.
"I get it. She's made it clear." John said. "I would rather her program clone be Summer, so at least I would know it's a clone. If it is, she won't be able to deceive me."
Bob saw how John responded to Summer. He knew Cameron and the other Terminators saw it too. He thought the implications could actually run a little deeper.
"I don't know if Summer will be a clone." Bob said. "Cameron saw, we all saw, how you looked at Summer. I believe Cameron is going to do a chassis switch."
Bob also noticed Savannah was unhappy at how John looked at Summer. It seemed to bother her and Ally more than it did Cameron. He noted the way Ally slugged Summer in the back several times to get her to stop spouting off. It didn't work.
John didn't think it really mattered anymore. He wanted to move his life forward. Cameron seemed like more of an obstacle than anything. Nobody could 'control' Cameron. He knew he was just along for the ride with whatever she wanted to happen.
"I really don't care, Bob." John said. "Cameron does whatever she wants regardless of anyone else. It's her 'M O'."
John Henry listened to the conversation. He wanted them all to refocus. There was more in play now.
"Derek's team is on station." John Henry said. "Kyle's team is three minutes out. I want to reposition your team."
John Henry sent them around to the far side.
Bob took the long way to get to the potential combat site. He didn't want John to be injured.
"We're still a few minutes out." Bob reported.
John wondered about their air power.
"How many drones are here?" John asked. "Four of them should be available."
John Henry tried to be diplomatic. He didn't think it should be a problem for the current availability.
"I have three drones there now." John Henry said. "The fourth went with Cammy and Savannah."
John wanted all four on station. If there was going to be an attack, he wanted to have all of the resources available. Apparently, it wasn't the case.
"I take it those were Cameron's orders?" John asked.
John Henry felt it was out of his hands.
"Who else?" John Henry asked.
John shook his head in disgust.
'Who else?' John thought.
John thought about a lot of things. Cameron seemed to have control over everyone. She even controlled him. As his wife, he could never go against her. He often wondered if it was why she married him so she could control him. He knew Cameron loved him. If she wanted to be 'Summer', he would let her this time. There was something he was going to check for when they were together for the first time. It was something which always bothered him about Cameron. Unless Cameron really did live her life over, she lied to him….
He wondered what other lies she told him. If River ever came back, he was going to ask her if Cameron lied to him about it. Maybe it was time he started to share his bed with the girls. It was time to do what he believed Cameron did. It's what she 'wanted' anyway, no wonder, she must have a guilty conscience, BITCH.
"… John…?" Bob asked.
John was embarrassed he hadn't paid attention. Now he was angry at Cameron on top of it. He wasn't really sure why.
"What?" John asked.
John Henry needed to know how John wanted to proceed.
"Do you want Steve to pull out, or mount a full scale raid?" John Henry asked. "Remember there's at least one Terminator there. We don't know how many. No female Terminator has been spotted anywhere with our recent activity. We're still operating under the assumption there is one."
John hadn't followed all the details since he wasn't in the Command Center. He felt John Henry would be able to make decisions much better than he would be able to do.
"What do you recommend?" John asked.
John Henry would like to find what exactly it was they did in the building. He would also like to know what exactly was in the building. He also knew they needed to use a certain amount of restraint and caution. He believed if the fighting became too intense, there was only one decision to follow.
"Start with the raid. We can pull out if it gets too hot and use the drones." John Henry said. "It should keep damage to our troops to a minimum and destroy the enemy."
John watched Bob slow and make a turn. They were there. He liked John Henry's plan. He also thought it should probably be enacted before Cameron showed up and took over the operation and turned it into a bloodbath.
"It sounds good to me." John said. "We've just pulled up."
Bob wanted to remind John of the heavy human presence.
"Kyle's team and Derek's team are here as well." Bob said.
John Henry checked over his force. He was satisfied we were ready to start.
"Everyone is in place." John Henry said.
Closing monologue by Cameron:
I Love You Too
They can feel it in their heart
They can feel it in their mind
Perhaps the real key to love
Is what's inside the mind to find
There is what one thinks
There is what one thinks they think
Thinking is not actually doing
Sometimes everyone needs to rethink
Love does not really physically exist
As something that can be held or seen
Everyone knows it is there at times
Even if it remains elusive and unseen
Beauty is transitory
Love can be fleeting
None of it really matters
When two hearts as one are beating
Two hearts will meld together
When the hearts both beat true
One heart says, I love you
The other says, I love you too
Nobody
