Chapter 25: Enemies at the Gate
Everyone got their stuff ready to go as they cleared out the bunker as they heard the radio from Peter. "Hello, my friends. Time to give Gwen some payback. I got the tank, meet me at this location," Peter sends them the coordinates to the location.
They grab their weapons and supplies to head outside to go through the snowy trails to head for the meeting point. "Time to give that woman a lot of pain for giving us trouble," Rachel said as they arrived at the meeting place to see Peter with a Stingray 2 Light Tank parked behind him.
"You like my new ride?" Peter asked as the tank was still running pretty well.
"Wow, you maintained to steal of them?" Rachel asked.
"Yes Miss Busty, I killed a few Undertaker Engineers and drove it away. It's loaded hot and ready to go. Come inside," Peter climbs on top of the vehicle to open the hatch to head inside. The trio gets inside to see the interior which is a tight squeeze.
"Okay, I will get in the driver's seat. Jack is in the commander's seat which has access to the tank's sensor suite. Rachel get in that seat which controls the M2 machine gun turret on top via remote control through that terminal and Elza you get in the gunner position to load up the shells," Peter said.
"We need to work together to get to the gates," Rachel said as she was trying out the terminal to see the screen to see the camera on the machine gun turret.
"Yeah, hope we can not get blown up," Elza said.
"Don't be so negative E, we can do this," Rachel said.
"So positive thinking, I see why you are dating her," Peter said.
"I am pretty lucky, come on. Let's get moving," Jack said as the Light Tank was going pretty fast to head for the gate to the city.
"So far, so good," Rachel said as Jack could detect enemies up ahead to see Undertakers in guarded positions trying to stop them.
"Here they come," Elza said as she loaded a shell with Rachel opening fire with the turret to tear through the rows of Undertakers turning them into piles of gore. They fire a tank shell to blow up a building killing off everyone inside.
"Target has been destroyed," Peter said as they were driving through the checkpoints and guard posts to wipe them out with ease. The 105m long main gun of the Stingray 2 is blowing up the buildings while Rachel is manning the turret with the 50 BMG rounds slicing anything in their wake.
"We are slicing through these guys like wet butter," Rachel said as she kept the pressure to tear through the defenses to see the gate in the distance.
'There it is, our way into the city of Redford and our way out of here," Peter said as Jack could see armored vehicles coming at them.
"Oh crap, LAV-25s and Humvees coming at us," Jack said as he detects 4 LAV-25 and several Humvees to fire at them. Peter uses the Light Tank's speed to avoid getting hit by Rachel using the remote-controlled turret to destroy the Humvees nearby.
"Use the 50 Cal to destroy those LAV-25s. They are not rated to protect against those rounds. Save the tank rounds for buildings or other tanks," Peter said.
"Right," Rachel said as she turned her armor-piercing 50 BMG which turned the armored vehicles into Swiss cheese killing everyone inside. Peter is driving around the area to head closer to the gate.
"Watch it, Undertakers got launchers trying to take us out," Jack said as Grenadiers wielding SMAW launchers tried to shoot at them but Peter managed to avoid the rockets with the tank's speed. Rachel spots the Undertakers to use the turret to rip them to pieces.
"Got them," she said as they kept going to detect incoming Light Tanks coming their way.
"Oh shit, we got trouble," Elza said as 5 Stingray 2 Light Tanks show up to prepare to kill the rouge tank. Peter is going behind a building to dodge a tank shell as they turn the tank turret. They pop out of cover to launch the round at the first tank to make it explode.
"Target destroyed," Jack said.
"Oh yeah, four more to go," Rachel said as there was a tank battle with Peter moving the Stingray 2 to gain an advantage over the enemy tanks. One by one the tanks were destroyed with two remaining as one of the tanks fired a shot at the group's tank to shake them off.
"Okay, no penetration," Jack said as the shell bounced off the side of the light tank.
"Just our luck," Peter said as they fired at the fourth tank to destroy it completely.
"Got it, one more left," Elza said as she reloaded the main gun with them trying to get a good angle to strike at the last light tank. The enemy tank hits a building to reduce it to rubble as they line up the main gun. They fire the tank shell to smash into the last light tank to free up the way.
"One-way trip to the gate guys," Peter said as they went at full speed to head to the gate.
"So far so good. Oh no, I detect a helicopter. A Hind assault chopper coming our way," Jack said.
"I will not let you through that gate," Gwen said through the Hind's speakers to unlock tons of explosive rounds to kick up around the light tank to strike the sides disabled it.
"Time to get out of this crazy ride," Jack said as they got out of the tank to scatter around. The hind launches rockets to destroy the light tank turning it into flaming ruins.
"There goes my ride," Peter said as they went into a nearby building with the garrison by the gate had already been destroyed.
"You bastards, you murdered all my soldiers here. Well, I am going to enjoy wiping you all out," Gwen said as is flying through the area trying to kill them with the Hind's chain gun.
"Gee, we need to knock out that Hind and unlock the terminal that controls that gate," Peter said as a group of Valkyries were overlooking the battle.
"We need to get our big sister and take her to the lab within the city," the Valkyrie said as the three women headed off to seek out Rachel who had been separated from the group. Rachel is trying to find something that will help take out the Hind flying around trying to seek her out.
"This is going to be a problem," Rachel said as she found a P90 sub gun on a desk to make sure there was ammo inside the magazine.
"Hello big sister, nice to finally meet you," a female voice said. Rachel is surprised to hear her voice somewhere else.
"What the hell?" she wondered as three women came into the building with different colored combat suits like her own while covering their faces with helmets.
"Big sister, you will come with us and you feel the power we have now," the Valkyrie said. Rachel is quite creeped out to see these women have the same voice and have similar body shapes to her but taller and bigger in certain areas.
"I don't want to be like you," Rachel said as she fired her P90 at full auto to hit the head Valkyrie at the armored vest. She unloaded all 50 rounds at the chest and the armored vest blocked all of them leaving Rachel dumbfounded. None of the bullets pierced the armored vest of the combat suit and the Valkyries shook their heads.
"Oh, big sister. Don't resist," the head Valkyrie speeds towards her as Rachel draws her pistol trying to shoot her but the Valkyrie easily evades her shots to punch her in the stomach to launch her across the room.
She slides onto the floor as the head Valkyrie comes over to use a taser to hit her in the neck to shock her and knock her out.
"We got her madam, we are heading for the lab to give her the Valkyrie serum," the head Valkyrie said.
"Excellent my dears. You keep impressing me, get out of there. I want to play with my prize," Linda said as the Valkyries moved away taking Rachel in a secret hatch that took them back into the city.
"Rachel, where are you?" Jack asked on the radio.
"Sorry sir, big sister can't talk with you right now," a creepy voice sounding like Rachel is talking through the radio.
"Who the hell are you, where is Rachel?" Jack demanded.
"She is with us. We are taking her to the labs to become one of us. She will see the power we have been gifted due to our genetics. We will deal with you later," the Valkyrie said to cut off the radio.
"Damn it the Valkyries got Rachel," Jack said as he finds a Stinger launcher within a crate.
"What, you got to be kidding me," Elza said.
"Those super-powered clones of hers, that is not good. I think the lead researcher would want to use her as a weapon against their enemies including us," Peter said.
"I can't let that happen," Jack said.
"Come on, have a little faith in your birdy. She seems very capable," Peter said as Jack calmed down.
"You are right, we need to focus on taking Gwen out and getting through that gate," Jack said as he got onto the roof of a building to fire the missile to heat lock onto the Hind to strike doing some damage but still flying in the air.
"We need another one," Elza said as she went into the building trying to find another Stinger to use. The Hind unloaded its payload destroying buildings and failing to kill the trio. She grabs the Stinger out of the box to head upstairs to be on the roof to fire the missile at the Hind to knock it out of the sky.
"Damn it," Gwen said as her aircraft crashes onto the ground with her getting out of the cockpit to be badly wounded. "Damn it, you smashed through my army and got to the gates but your little girlfriend isn't here is she?" Gwen questioned.
"You know about this?" Jack asked.
"Yes, but Linda and the Overseer seemed interested in your lady friend. There is a reason why her blood was needed to make the Valkyries a reality," Gwen said as Jack aimed his Glock 40 and put a bullet through her head to kill her off.
Jack searches her body to find the 8th key which will unlock the terminal connected to the gate. "Finally, we get out of this tundra and head to the city," Jack said as they went to a building that has the terminal to put in all 8 keys to unlock the gate allowing them to head towards Redford.
"Gee I hope Rachel is okay," Elza said.
"Knowing Linda, she is going to brainwash her and add her to the Overseer's new army," Peter said as Jack is deeply worried about that.
"Sunshine, stay strong. We will go into the city and seek you out," Jack said as their mission is successful managing to get through the gate and heading for the city but Rachel is deep behind enemy lines to be used by the Connections for experiments with the Valkyrie Serum going to make her into a Valkyrie super soldier.
Elsewhere Linda is talking with the Overseer and the mayor of Redford Ren Wells, about the current status of the island. "Seems like Gwen failed to stop the invaders," Ren said.
"She underestimated their resources. They managed to smash through her whole defensive line with that stolen tank and good tactics. They are not slow-witted fools," Linda said.
"It matters not, we managed to collect the prime subject of the Valkyrie project. She will become a Valkyrie and lead them. They already see her as their big sister," the Overseer said.
"Once we are done with the tests. We will use a drug to alter her mind and put her under our order. Then we can have her go after the agents and wipe them out along with that traitor Peter," Linda said.
"Make sure not to mess up my city," Ren said to cut off the line.
"Don't get why he bothers. The city has been in decay for a while now. Very few people are in the city, just bioweapons left," Linda said.
"It doesn't matter to me. He is keeping the city in total blackout, cutting it off from the rest of the world. We will keep it that way," Overseer said as they presume their plan with Rachel heading for the testing lab within the city.
