Kara went to the planet Zuun to do some recruiting. The world had suffered a number of wars greatly reducing its population. The planet was noticeably backward, equivalent to the late 1800s on Earth. The Zuunian were humanoid, nearly identical to humans. Kara was able to blend in quite easily when she rented the top box for a theater production. There, she noticed the star-actor of the play, Brin Londo. He was well-built, with short brown hair, and a pale complexion. He appeared to be in his mid-twenties.
After the play was over, Brin was positively exhausted and totally wasted. His room was filled with other actors and so-called "fans." Kara walked into his dressing room unimpressed. "This is a private party," the director told Kara off.
"Do you have any idea...who the fuck I am?" Kara glared. "I'm here for Brin. It's about his brother."
"Is he here?" Brin asked curiously.
"No one knows," Kara said coyly. "Bitches, leave," she ordered.
"Fine," Brin nodded and then gestured for everyone to leave. Kara waited patiently for the squad of prostitutes to leave the room. "How do you know my brother? Did my father send you?"
"No, I'm here on my own. Your brother has been missing for a month and on that same night, two villagers were killed. Coincidence? I think not," Kara said grimly.
"I'm under contract for the next thirty performances," Brin objected.
"I'm rich as fuck. I can buy out your contract. I can buy out the whole theater chain," Kara said seriously.
"We leave tonight. I simply can't help," Brin declined.
"He's your brother, asshole. You think yourself so high and mighty fighting imaginary demons. The demons I fight are fucking real," Kara said disapointedly.
"Goodnight," Brin dismissed her.
The next morning, Brin reconsidered. He took the train, then a carriage, and then walked a good distance to his father's mansion. Upon entering, he found the place in a state of disrepair. There were animal heads of various exotic predators on the walls. Mars Lando, his father, then made an appearance. He was an elderly man with white hair and a beard. He wore an animal skin coat of some alien cat.
"Brin?" Mars asked as he came down the lobby stairs.
"Father," Brin addressed.
"I hope you're not expecting anything. We don't get many visitors. Also, I think I hate you," Mars said bluntly.
"You seem well," Brin said dryly.
"You, here about your brother?" Mars assumed.
"A rich blond woman informed me that Ben was missing. I'm here to find him," Brin said.
"It's too late, I'm afraid. Your brother's body was found in a ditch by the prairie road, yesterday morning," Mars said without emotion.
"Well...shit," Brin muttered. "Where is Ben's body?"
Brin went into town and then to the morgue which was also the meat room. Brin noticed a fundamental contradiction of the preservation of meat to be eaten and a dead body in the same room. "What the fuck?" he said softly.
"I wouldn't go near the body. It's kind of fucked up," the butcher said to him.
"Yeah, well, I kind of owe him," Brin said and walked over to the body. Brin pulled the sheet away revealing a fucked-up body. The face was in a stare of horror with wide eyes and mouth gaping open. The right side of his chest and neck was shredded and torn as if attacked by an animal revealing bone underneath. There were other slash marks on the face and chest.
Brin was positively spooked but quickly recovered.
After getting drunk as fuck at the bar, Brin went back to the mansion where he joined his father and Kara for dinner. "Enchanting as ever," Mars complimented Kara as she walked about the dining room. "The Queen of Earth, what a pleasant surprise. My chef has outdone himself," Mars said and then slid a plate in her direction.
Kara gave the plate, a raw eel a WTF look. "Something plainer like chicken strips or a burger," Kara said to the chef.
"I was just telling Kara how we just got the telegram here," Mars said.
"What a change, don't you think?" Kara mocked Brin.
"Blackmoore seems the same as I left it," Brin agreed. "The villagers are still ignorant as fuck with superstitious ideas."
"An enlightened man such as yourself sees as savages at the end of the world," Mars remarked.
"Well, yeah," Brin nodded.
"Please, keep the shit-talking going," Kara encouraged.
"All I'm saying is that you dismiss the natural world at your peril," Mars said.
"How ominous," Brin said suspiciously. "I find your insecurities quite queer, father."
"It is not queerness but self-awareness," Mars countered. "How comfortable are you in your skin, may I ask?"
"I could get used to many things," Brin said confidently.
"Like turning into a wolf and eating people," Kara brought up.
"The fuck?" Brin thought he misheard.
"I thought that's what you Zuunians do, wolf out," Kara smiled.
"Only in our legends," Mars downplayed.
"On Earth, there are myths of men who transform into wolves and kill people. They can only be stopped by a silver bullet," Kara said conversationally.
"Why silver?" Mars asked curiously.
"Silver was used for religious medals. It was believed that such medals provided spiritual protection. One man melted his medal down into a bullet and killed the werewolf with it," Kara explained.
"I saw Ben's body. Maybe a werewolf killed him," Brin suggested half-heartedly.
"There might be something to that. I've seen animal attacks by bears and tigers, but I have never seen anything like this," Mars considered.
"The wounds do seem to indicate that whoever killed Ben, fucking hated him. I mean, the body was gnarly," Kara agreed.
"What of the circus? Did Ben have dealings with the circus people? Don't they have bears in a circus?" Brin asked.
"Yes, Ben was the town's negotiator and the circus does have a bear," Mars said.
"So, I think that settles that," Kara concluded.
There was an awkward silence at the dinner table. "Wait...what the fuck are we talking about here?" Brin asked confused.
"Brin, I'm glad you're home. Surely, you will solve this mystery," Mars toasted.
That night, Brin knocked on Kara's guest room. She came to the door in a nightgown. "How can I help you?" she asked condescendingly.
"My behavior at the theater was unacceptable. Even though I was drunk as fuck and exhausted from the evening performance, I should have given more of a shit. I know that you have powers beyond reason. If you help me solve this mystery of my brother's murder, I am your servant. If there is anything you need, I am yours," Brin said humbly.
"Alright, sleep with me," Kara ordered.
"Well, okay then," Brin said as he entered the room.
The next morning, Mars, Brin, and Kara went to the funeral dressed in black. After Ben was buried, Kara and Brin hung out together at the stream. "You know, bringing up your mother's suicide by razor during sex was a massive turn-off," Kara said disappointed.
"This place was our refuge," Brin said of the stream.
"Cuz your father beat you and your brother like dogs?" Kara figured.
"Well, yeah, but later he sent me to an asylum," Brin admitted.
"Look, Brin, some would say I'm not entirely mentally stable. My first love went to an asylum because his father was an asshole that wanted to humiliate and discard him. It's time people like us started running the galaxy," Kara said resolved.
"People like us?" Brin wondered.
"And then all the so-called sane people will be the ones in the asylums," Kara vowed.
"So, who or what killed my brother?" Brin asked.
"If you ask me, your father did it," Kara said bluntly.
"Wait...what?" Brin asked confused.
"When I was a teen, I watched murder mystery non-stop. The killer knew the victim intimately. The wounds he suffered were a crime of passion. Your father already has a history of being an asshole. At the dinner table, he was all about warning you of the natural world. He fucking did it," Kara said obviously.
"If you're so sure, why would you be so casual with him?" Brin asked skeptically.
"I wine and dine with killers more often than not," Kara replied.
"Well...shit. What do we do?" Brin asked.
"We interview those who might have seen something," Kara said.
"My father wants me to stay indoors in case I might be the creature's next victim," Brin objected.
"Because he fucking did it," Kara said certainly. "Just stick with me and you'll be fine."
That night, Kara and Brin interviewed the circus people's camp in the woods. As they did, a local militia arrived to do their own investigation. All fingers pointed to a hapless bear. The bear suddenly started to freak out as he smelled something odd. This only antagonized the militia even more. Kara eyed the bear and then held onto it as she smelled him. Brin watched awkwardly as Kara reassured the bear, placed her fingers in the bear's fur, and smelled his scent. Finally, she snapped out of it and got back to her feet.
"I smelled the bear's breath and fur. There's no scent of blood," Kara determined.
Suddenly, various people were getting fucked up left and right by some kind of creature. One man had his back ripped open before collapsing. Another ran around with his arm bitten off. Another lay on the ground with his leg bitten off. In the confusion, a man fired his projectile weapon on another man. The creature took hold of the shooter and killed him instantly. In the panic, people were dropping like flies. A police officer entered a trailer and found a dead body. He, himself was quickly killed when the creature bit his hand off and then sliced him through the neck into his head.
Kara scanned the area with her X-ray vision. The creature was using the trailers and wagons to conceal his position. Just as the creature was about to attack a little girl, Kara sped over to her and moved her out of the way. The creature then quickly retreated into the woods. Kara eyed the creature with her X-ray vision and then fired heat vision beams. The beams hit the creature with a glancing blow. The creature continued to gallop on all fours toward some old stone-henge-looking monument nearby.
"Come with me," Kara said to Brin.
The two walked over to the monument and looked around back-to-back. Suddenly, the creature leaped off one of the stone pillars and bit Brin on the neck severely wounding him. Kara fired heat vision on the creature getting a hit. The creature retreated into the darkness. Kara ignored the creature and turned to Brin who was bleeding out. She took out a medical scanning out and immediately healed him of his injuries. Kara then went back to the camp where she attempted to heal the wounded as best she could. In all, there were several dead.
The next morning, Kara waited for Brin to wake up in his bed. "Rise and shine," Kara said impatiently. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah, probably, maybe," he said as he touched his sore neck and shoulder.
"Extend your arm out," Kara ordered. Brin did as he was told. "Perfectly healed," she determined.
"How?" Brin asked confused.
"It's sci-fi bullshit. Look, your planet is eleven hundred years behind the times," Kara said.
Mars then entered the room and noticed Brin had healed from his injuries. "Remarkable. I had thought he would never be able to use that arm again," he said pleased. "Kara, I want to thank you for prolonging your stay here during these trying times."
"The thing that killed Ben is still out there. I'm going to kill its ass," Kara told him.
"Nonetheless, I thank you," Mars said politely.
Soon thereafter, Brainiac 5 arrived on the scene to question Brin on what he had seen. This was made to look as though Brin was under investigation for the killings to lure Mars into a false sense of security and reveal himself. "It was a wild animal," Brin said confidently.
"You're quite sure?" Brainiac 5 doubted.
"What else could it have been?" Brin asked
"A shape-shifter is not uncommon among alien species in the galaxy. According to Zuunian legends, it's possible among your kind," Brainiac 5 pointed out.
"The same legends that speak of demons and devils," Brin said dismissively.
"I understand your injury was quite savage," Brainiac 5 brought up.
"Yes, Kara said my dick was small. I found that unnecessary," Brin said resentfully.
"Would it be possible for me to examine you? I am a specialist," Brainiac 5 requested. "There's much that can be discovered by scientific means these days and, at your convenience, of course."
"Of course," Brin said befuddled.
Brainiac 5 placed a thick folder on the table. "It appears you have two lives, Mr. Londo. In one life, you're an accomplished actor for a respectable theater company. In the other life, you're a mentally disturbed savage, having spent a year in an asylum. One of these lives has a future, the other does not."
"I get the distinct impression you want me to be your new weapon...and I resent it," Brin said honestly. "I know your reputation just as you're aware of mine."
"You're a direct man so I'll be...equally...direct with you. I recruit the strongest warriors in the galaxy for the Vindicator Corps. In your head are the feelings and memories of the people you play. We're wondering what else could be in your head of yours," Brainiac 5 said.
"Good day, Mr. Dox," Brin refused.
"I'll schedule your examination, at your convenience, of course," Brainiac 5 said and then walked out.
On the lake, Kara found Brin staring off into space. "Having a PTSD flashback?" Kara asked knowingly.
"Yes," Brin confirmed.
"What did Dox say to you?" Kara asked concernedly.
"He said my dick was small," Brin said peeved.
"I know, I feel so responsible for telling him that," Kara admitted. "I only meant to say that it's small compared to what it could be."
"You think I can turn into a rage monster, too?" Brin asked surprised.
"It could be in your genes," Kara said simply. "Just as my Kryptonian genes allow me to do this," she said as she skipped a rock across the lake a few dozen times.
"I can't do that," Brin said impressed.
"Well, you have to whip it out," Kara said as she got behind him and placed her hands in his. With Kara's guidance, Brin was able to skip a rock a few times on the lake.
"Do you hear that?" Brin asked, suddenly stopping himself.
"I hear everything," Kara rolled her eyes.
"Horses," Brin detected, his hearing greatly enhanced from before.
"It's starting," Kara said pleased.
Brin went back to the mansion where he was confronted by a militia platoon pissed off by what happened the night before. Three men took hold of Brin to arrest him. He struggled against them equally requiring more men to get involved. As they were about to haul Brin off, a shot rang out scattering them. Mars and Kara came out to address the militia. "You're trespassing on my land. My guest here can kill eight of you with her eyes before you even realize what had happened. If you trespass on my land again, I won't be so civil," Mars told them off.
The militia then took off humiliated. Mars, Kara, and Brin went inside the mansion. "Why do they think Brin is a threat when there are the two of us?" Kara smirked.
"Well, he's an outsider and you're a beautiful unassuming woman," Mars complimented.
"Appearances can be deceiving," Kara said knowingly.
"Don't I know it," Mars said as he went up the stairs to his bedroom.
In the dining room, Kara and Brin had a chat. "Did those men shake you up, make you nervous?" she asked.
"I held all three of them back. I feel stronger," Brin noticed.
"Can you hear my heartbeat, the sound of my breath? Does it bring out the raw animal sexuality in you?" Kara asked hopefully.
"Excuse me. I think a 'what the fuck?' is in order," Brin said as he left the room.
That night, Brin knocked on Kara's door looking distressed. "You must leave. It's not safe here," he said anxiously. "If anything happened to you, I would never be able to forgive myself."
"Please, I'm practically invincible," Kara rolled her eyes.
"What if I become the bad guy?" Brin asked concernedly.
"Then, you can be the bad guy with me," Kara assured him. "Now, come to bed so I can tame you."
Brin gave her an odd look but found himself unable to refuse her.
The next morning, Brainiac 5 spoke to the concerned Zuunians about their predicament. "Do not fear the man that can destroy the body but the one that can destroy the soul, whether it be beast or man. A man reveals himself to be a beast by his words and actions, not by appearances. Will God defend his faithful? Rarely does this happen in miracles. Rather, God works through good men to smite foul creatures. I say to you that the enemy's ploy is a devious one. Twisted accursed into beasts, he seeks to bring us low. Make us into animals, teach us self-loathing so we forget that we are made in the image of God," Brainiac 5 preached.
"So, why does God tolerate this mockery?" he asked rhetorically. "Pride goeth before the fall. Those who have died did not die because of their sins. Nor is this village suffering because of the sins of the people. Rather, God comes for all of us like a thief in the night. Death is not tied to sin. It is damnation that is tied to sin. So do not lose your faith or else you will be in the same pit as this beast."
After the service, Kara found Brainiac 5 hanging out in a bar watching people. "Why are you here of all places?" Kara asked.
"As opposed to actively searching for the creature?" Brainiac 5 asked.
"Yeah," Kara confirmed.
"The majority of the residents of this town are within fifty meters of this tavern. It's best to be as close to the potential victims as possible and wait for the creature to strike again," Brainiac 5 said simply.
"It has to be Mars Londo," Kara said.
"What makes you say that?" Brainiac 5 asked.
"Who else could it be, literally?" Kara said exasperated.
"Terminate him then," Brainiac 5 shrugged.
"It's not that simple. I must empower my new apprentice to take him down for me. Also, he's been very hospital to me," Kara said.
That night, Kara and Brin went to the cemetery and visited the mausoleum of his mother. The sarcophagus had the image of the deceased woman carved in the stone. The window was oriented so that moonlight came in to give them sufficient light. "Tell me, in your faith, are those who killed themselves damned?" Brin asked Kara.
"She didn't kill herself. She was murdered," Kara deflected.
"How can you know that?" Brin asked skeptically.
"Let us find out together," Kara suggested.
The two went down the stairs to a lower level, lit by candles. Inside a cavern was a creepy chair with restraints where the head and wrists would be placed. "I understand how you feel. We've both lost our mothers. Her death must have wounded you greatly," Kara said sympathetically.
"What is all this?" Brin wondered.
"The chair, used to restrain your father from when he became a beast. The locking mechanism to keep him inside should the restraints fail," Kara pointed out. Kara then took out a scanner which indicated traces of his father's DNA on the chair. "It's pretty conclusive now."
"They're probably going to blame me for everything," Brin figured.
"Yeah," Kara agreed.
"Well...shit," Brin muttered.
At the same time, the beast attacked a militia group holding a deer as bait. Upon approaching, the beast fell into a trap as the ground gave way. One of the militiamen foolishly got too close and fell into the pit as well. The beast sliced deep into the man's face and punched through his chest, killing him instantly. The beast then grabbed another man too close to the pit, brought him down with him, and sliced off his arm. The militiamen above began shooting at the beast with little effect. The beast leaped up and engaged the militiamen in close quarters. Fearing for their lives, the militiamen scattered off. The beast chased after one of them on all fours and then back on two feet. The militia leader fell into the swamp and got stuck. The beast took his head off in one swipe.
Brainiac 5 arrived on the scene and scanned the dead bodies around him. The beast continued to kill off the militiamen one by one in the dark forest for the remainder of the night.
The next morning, the surviving militiamen came upon the mansion with Brainiac 5 leading them. They arrested Brin on the spot in Kara's presence. "I'm not the beast. I didn't do these terrible things," Brin said to her. "You were with me the entire time."
"It's for your own protection, Brin," Kara assured him.
Brainiac 5 came up to Mars who looked perfectly composed. "It is as you've said," Brainiac 5 lied.
"I'm sorry it has come to this," Mars said with false sincerity.
Brin was taken to a facility now under Kara and Brainiac 5's control, the old asylum. Brin was strapped to a chair so he couldn't move. "We have ways to encourage the unleashing of one's potential powers," Brainiac 5 said to him.
"Where is my father?" Brin demanded.
Brainiac 5 then dunked Brin's chair into freezing cold water. Brin cried out in pain and discomfort as he was brought back up. After a few sessions of this, Brainiac 5 injected him with a steroid. Then, he gave him some appropriate shock therapy. "If you do not stop my father, he will kill again and again," Brin said just before he got shocked.
During this radical painful treatment, Brin recalled some horrific memories he had suppressed. He struggled like mad, having intense PTSD moments. It was then that Brin saw the memory of his father, as a beast, killing his mother. He had repressed the memory up to this point. "You sure this is going to work?" Kara asked skeptically.
"It couldn't hurt," Brainiac 5 said dismissively.
After many treatments, Brin was brought into a room filled with Brainiac 5 drones in a circular lecture hall. Brin was in a chair and restrained. "Your fears about your powers are irrational. We will remain together in this room until you come to realize that the beast has no sway over you. It is here that you will take one small step toward being a superhero, a Vindicator," Brainiac 5 began.
"Now, I am aware that you have suffered traumatic experiences. However, with my treatment, you have rediscovered the repressed memory that your mother was murdered by your father and that your father is a monster. But you will not become a monster, Brin," Brainiac 5 assured him.
"I will kill everyone in this room unless you do something about it," Brin said apprehensively.
Kara then came before Brin. "This is going to hurt but it's the only way," she said apologetically. First, she hit Brin with intense wind from her mouth that tore into his skin. Brin struggled in his restraints as he felt the wind tear into him. Kara then blasted him with frost breath. Brin cried out in agony but remained restrained. Kara then hit him with low-intensity heat vision. She kept it up until most of his body suffered first and second-degree burns.
Finally, Brin began to change with his muscles bulking up. His clothes began to tear and his shoes became shredded. His fingers and toes became sharp claws as they morphed, his teeth became sharpened, and his jaw extended. Brin growled as black hair began to cover his body. Kara watched in fascination as Brin appeared as a wolf-like humanoid covered in black hair. His face was now barely recognizable in this form. Finally, Brin was strong enough to tear off his restraints. He threw the broken chair at Kara in a rage. The chair broke apart upon impacting her. Brin's clothes ripped off of him giving him a completely animal appearance. He sprouted a furry wolf-tail in the back.
In his blood rage, Brin began attacking Brainiac 5 drones. He bit and swiped at them, tearing them apart. He would throw them out the window. Kara watched passively as Brin tore through several Brainiac 5 drones. Nothing the drones could do could stop him. Brin then leaped out the window to escape. Kara quickly followed after him. Brin leaped across several apartment complexes and then howled. Kara was there on the spot completely enthralled and aroused by what she was seeing. Brin leaped some more building rooftops with Kara in quick pursuit. Brin finally leaped down into the city square where he was surrounded by Brainiac 5 drones. He attempted to engage them but was shot up in response.
Kara landed and engaged him personally. Brin immediately rushed her, taking hold of her shoulders. Kara swatted him to both sides of his face and punched him down to the ground. Brin got up and tried to grab her. Kara took them both into the air and slammed them into a trolly vehicle. She slammed him to the ground and gave him a good kick to the snout. Kara then took the air to keep a good distance from him. Brin leaped up and grabbed her boot. The two struggled in the air with Kara repeatedly slamming Brin into nearby buildings. The two landed on the ground with a thud. Kara touched her face as she felt her own blood. Her slash wound instantly healed itself.
"Not bad. You could become a brother-in-arms after all," Kara considered.
Brin grabbed Kara by the throat but then suddenly lost power as he became humanoid again. He backed away from Kara regaining his senses and realizing the danger he was in. "Don't be afraid, Brin. I'm not going to hurt you too badly," Kara assured him.
Brin flexed and powered back up to his wolf form. He rushed Kara and bit her hard on the neck. "Oh, that's the spot," Kara said aroused, and then punched him off her. Her neck wound immediately healed. Brin quickly rushed her, swiping deep into her chest. The nano-machines that made up her uniform continually repaired her suit with every swipe. Kara suddenly grabbed his wrists and headbutted him to the ground knocking him out.
Brainiac 5 then came by her side. "Well?" he asked.
"Reminds me of Mon when I first met him. He has potential," Kara judged.
Kara waited for Brin to wake up in an antique store. She had stored him there for the night after knocking him out. "You know, putting you in an antique store is probably the worst place to put someone like you...but I like to live dangerously," Kara smirked.
"What have you done to me?" Brin asked dismayed.
"I'm unleashing the power of your race," Kara said obviously.
"I've become a monster like my father. He killed my brother and my mother," Brin said bitterly.
"I can help you control yourself during the change. I can find a way to keep your mind intact," Kara offered.
"I must go back to the house and end this," Brin said resolved.
"You must complete your training. Let me help you," Kara beseeched him.
"All of my father's victims...I can't keep them out of my head," Brin told her off.
"You must not go!" Kara insisted, putting her foot down.
"More people will die if I don't," Brin said confidently.
"You don't know that," Kara scoffed.
"I can help people. I feel the power within me now," Brin argued.
"But you can't control it," Kara pointed out. "Look, this is a dangerous time for you where you will be tempted by your father to be an evil monster. Remember last night?"
"I will finish what I've begun. You have my word," Brin promised.
"It is you and your abilities your father wants. That is why your people suffer," Kara said obviously.
"That's why I have to go," Brin said stubbornly.
"I don't want to see you shredded up and half-eaten like your bother," Kara said morbidly.
"I understand," Brin said somberly.
Kara gave Brin a surprised look. "If you face your father, you'll do it alone until the last possible moment when I bail you out," she warned.
"You won't need to," Brin said and then took off.
Kara sighed as he left. Brainiac 5 emerged from the shadows having watched the entire exchange. "That boy was our...fourth...fifth last chance?"
"No, there is another as well," Brainiac 5 corrected.
Brin came to the house at nightfall and got himself a gun. He went around the house clearing each spooky room. Finally, he heard his father playing on a piano-like instrument on the ground floor. Brin cautiously approached his father and found a dead man casually hanging out on a chair next to the fireplace.
"Well...shit," Brin sighed.
He turned his gun on his father still playing on the piano. "How did you like that jump scare?" Mars asked.
"I've seen better," Brin admitted.
Mars got up and shrugged dismissively. "Is that gun loaded? It makes me happy to see you this way. My son has returned a killer, a beast. It's glorious, isn't it?"
Brin pulled the trigger but nothing happened. "Shit," he realized and tried to pull the trigger a few more times. Mars quickly disarmed him of the weapon and swatt him to the floor.
"I removed the powder from those shells long ago," Mars revealed "It pleases me to see you this way. You have grown in courage and strength. Your destiny lies with me, son. Kara knew it to be true."
Brin became filled with debt wondering if he was being played. "No," he denied.
Mars proceeded to beat the shit out of Brin across the living room busting up artifacts, furniture, and curtains. Mars then began to transform into his Timber Wolf form and tossed Brin across the room. Instinctively, Brin did the same. To distinguish the two beasts from each other for the big dumb audience, Mars ripped his shirt off completely. The two wrestled about on the floor with Brin scratching Mars's back severely. Mars roared in rage and pounded on Brin a few times before throwing him up against the wall. The two continued to wrestle about with Mars biting deep into Brin's flesh. Mars got the better of the fight with severe bite wounds on Brin's side, back, and shoulder.
Mars went in for the kill with a leap. Brin kicked his father across the room into the fireplace where he began to burn furiously. Mars got out of the fireplace and tried to swipe at Brin even as he was on fire. Brin kept his distance but gave Mars a good swipe to the gut. As Mars continued to burn, Brin finally sliced his father's head off. The head bounced about the room, returned to humanoid form, and expired. The rest of the body burned on the floor. Brin cried out in grief and victory like a wolf.
Kara then arrived on the scene and blew the fire out. Out of his mind, Brin tried to attack her. All of his swipes missed her as she easily avoided him. He leaped around the room, off the walls, and tried to even get underneath her. Kara avoided every one of his attacks. Brin pumped up his muscles and exaggerated his wolf-like appearance to the max.
"Not bad, Brin, but give up. You can't beat me," Kara taunted.
Again, Kara avoided all of Brin's attacks. He thrashed various things around the room as he tried to get to her. "You'll have to do better than that," Kara chided. With Brin's next attack, Kara punched him hard to the gut and then punched him across the room. Kara suddenly rushed Brin and punched him several times to the torso, stunning him. Brin skidded across the room devastated.
"Are you finished, beast? Get up or I'll put you down permanently," Kara told him.
Brin attacked her again, even leaping into the air. Kara avoided his swipes and then held his arm behind his back. Kara punched and kicked him around in the air a bit until slamming him through the floor.
Brin roared in rage and frustration. "All you've done is pump up your little muscles. I can do that, too, if I wanted to," Kara mocked and then suddenly expanded her muscles to quadruple their size, causing her suit to expand to compensate. Kara looked seriously roided out as muscles nearly overwhelmed her neck and head. As she did the floor cracked around her.
Kara then went back to her normal slender feminine form. "You, see?" she asked condescendingly.
Brin merely snarled and howled at her. "You listening to a damn thing I'm telling you?" Kara asked annoyed. She went over to him completely unphased by his appearance. "It's not your muscles I want, it's your fur," Kara said aroused as she got close to him.
Kara ignored Brin as he tried to swipe and bite at her. She tore off his shirt and sliced his pants off even as she was hit multiple times. Every so often, Brin would swipe at her uniform creating slice marks that quickly repaired. Kara took Brin down to the floor with broken debris and fire all around them. She pushed on her crest deactivating her nano-machine suit. With them both naked, Kara caressed and pulled on Brin's fur. Brin continued to resist her, even biting her hair.
"Yes, pull my hair," Kara said excitedly. She put her hands around Brin's fury neck as she worked to ride him. Brin's thrashing and clawing did nothing to Kara as if trying to cut into steel or stone. Kara held Brin close as she enjoyed his warm furry body. This was so much better than when she was a cat. Brin, the wolf, was an upgrade. If only Mon could be a hairy ape for her.
Brin suddenly finished and stopped thrashing about. He returned to his humanoid form and passed out.
The next morning, Kara met up with Brainiac 5 outside the ruined mansion. "So, it's a sin to kill a man but not a beast. But it's a sin to have sex with a beast but not a man? Is that how it is?" Kara asked Brainiac 5. "Or is it the other way around?"
"Everything is a sin," Brainiac 5 replied.
"Glad we cleared that up," Kara rolled her eyes.
"It was morally dubious to allow a few dozen people to necessarily die when we knew the murderer simply to unleash Brin's power," Brainiac 5 noted.
"We'll make it up to them by liberating them from this backward society," Kara said ambitiously.
Brin then walked out of the house naked and confused. "What happened last night?"
"You became a Vindicator," Kara answered vaguely.
"I get the distinct impression you like me more as a wolf," Brin said resentfully.
"No shit. We're going to be training all day and all night," Kara told him.
"Can I wear clothes?" Brin asked sheepishly.
"You want clothes? Start growing fur," Kara ordered.
