Before the theme music is played, Octavius Flickerman and special guest, the Head Gamemaker, exchange a swig of scotch from one of the expensive bottles and put on winning smiles for the crowd. Then the familiar music is played and though some of the audience feels as though the speakers are booming loudly into their precious ears, they listen along, standing and clapping loudly with almost plastic smiles on their bony faces, heavily adorned with powders amongst other cosmetic products.

The music continued booming for several minutes yet the audience settled down with a simple wave of the hand, and the show is live, the cameras watching and editing, presuming all the same from afar — the red light flickers, and three, two, one, and they're live.

"Hello, everybody!" Octavius Flickerman said with a reassuring smile, the audience replying with applauding loudly once more. "Today, we have a special guest, welcome back Head Gamemaker Selenium Marco!"

Selenium stops the applause almost immediately, looking much different than Octavius with a grave expression looming on his wrinkled lined face. "Today's broadcast will only be interrupted by me for a short time, but I was sent here by our beloved President —" More clapping ensues. "Who'd like me to read what he had written on this card? Are you ready, everyone?" It's almost ridiculous how many smiles are on their faces, as though they don't have a care in the world; which they perhaps, don't

"Hello once again, citizens from the Capitol and greetings to our viewers from all of the Districts! As you all know, or have heard of, this year will mark the 100th anniversary of the honorable pageant of courage, sacrifice and honor we all know, and will forever be known as the Hunger Games. For this very special occasion, the Capitol has included a twist of sorts to mark this exciting benchmark. This year the arena will be revealed to you, the people of the Capitol. We have worked long and hard to make this the greatest arena that the Games have seen to date. It is easily the one that we all in the gamemaker room are rather excited for." A grin appeared on the mans face as he peered at the crowd of people gathered there that night.

"Might as well give the people what they want. The Arena this year will be a winter tundra. The arena will be surrounded by mountain ranges on all sides. They will vary in height as well as climbing ability. They will not be able to offer shelter in the slightest for the tributes. There will be a pine forest located in the arena as well along with two lakes. Those lakes will be the only source of water throughout the entirety of the Games. That is if they can find out how to get it. We already have several mutts and twist and turns planned out which will be revealed during the Games! We can reveal one twist though here tonight. The one place where they can find refuge is in the one lone building in the arena. It will be a replica of how the Capitol mansion looked during the first years of the games as a nod to where we started and also to show how we have grown as a nation since then. As always, Panem today, Panem tomorrow and Panem forever. Thank you, and happy Hunger Games. May the odds be ever in your favor."

The red light flashed, and the Reading of the Card had been completed.

Happy Hunger Games, indeed.

and let's ignore the fact that ive been AWOL for the last like ten months. Writers block is a bitch lately but ive decided to post this to hold yall over until the next chapter can be posted. im almost done with the first part of D11's reaping and I hope to have it done some point this week. my goal is to have the reapings all done by the end of december and then start the new year with getting into the pre games. also ignore that i originally posted this months ago, but this is an edited version.

this should be the last interlude for a while unless i need something to post if writing a chapter takes longer than id like.

so heres the arena! there might be minor changes to it as i write but this is the one im enjoying the most right now. oh! and i have a website made for this that i'll be posting tribute's faceclaims and what not on. link will be in my bio when i have it up and running
