It Began on a Foggy Morning
Note: This is my version of my favorite ballet, but with a twist.
*Our story begins on a foggy morning. The morning sun rose over a white castle on a hill (look up "Bellerose Castle" by "BriannaBellerose" on "DeviantArt"). In one of the bedrooms (look up "Baroque Boudoirs - Ivory and Gold" by "ImaginaryDawning" on "DeviantArt"), an orange female cat with her long hair in a high ponytail, blue eyes, peach skin wearing a pastel blue nightgown (look up "Rosalina - Astrid (Nightgown)" by "Katlime" on "DeviantArt") was fast asleep in the bed. Just then, the doors opened & a brown female chipmunk with auburn hair, & blue eyes, a white female rabbit with brown eyes, & peach skin & a lavender female cat with gold eyes, & a white muzzle, each wearing a white headdress & white dress (look up "Daisy - Cassandra (Lady in Waiting)" by "Katlime" on "DeviantArt") entered the room. They each went to a window & opened the curtains. The cat winced at the light coming in & pulled the covers over her head*
Lacey: Good morning, Princess Abigail.
*Abigail sat up & gave her a sour look*
Abigail: Lacey, I've told you, Sally, and Blaze multiple times. When it's just you, me, Sally, Blaze, and Rosie to call me Abby.
Lacey: Oh, right. My apologies.
Abigail:*yawn* It's fine.
Blaze: Well, now that you're awake, shall we get ready? You have a busy day ahead of you.
Abigail:*in her mind* Of course I do. I always do.
Sally: Let's get ready, shall we?
*She nodded, got out of bed, & headed towards her folding screen. as Lacey & Blaze started to dress her, she looked out one of the windows. in the distance, she saw a lake, shining from the morning sunlight* I just hope I'll be able to visit "him" today.
*They changed Abigail, into a light blue dress (look up "Peach - Rose #1" by "Katlime" on "DeviantArt") & tied her hair up in a high ponytail. Then the doors opened again & a light brown female woodchuck with white hair, blue eyes, buck teeth, a tan muzzle, & wearing a long blue dress with a white collar & a yellow trim at the bottom of the puffy sleeves & the skirt, a yellow necktie, white gloves with a gold cufflink on each blue cuff, and blue low-heeled shoes with a gray detail & soles entered the room*
Rosie: Good morning, darling.
Abigail: Good morning, Rosie.
*Rosie was Abigail's nanny. She had looked after the Princess ever since her Mother passed away wit rn she was a little girl. She loved the Princess very much. Like her own daughter*
Rosie: I swear, you get more and more beautiful with every passing day.
Abigail: Oh, Rosie. You say that every morning.
Rosie: Well, it's true. Anyway, hurry down to breakfast. Your Father has something very important that he wants to discuss with you afterwards.
Abigail: Yes.
*Rosie nodded & left so Lacey, Sally, & Blaze could finish*
*An hour later, Abigail & Rosie stepped into the dining room (look up "Digital Art Image No. 4152" by "Coolhotcat" on "DeviantArt"). Sitting on the head of the table was a blonde male cat with blue eyes, peach skin, & wearing a gold crown, a red cape over a blue royal uniform with a red sash over it was talking to a brown male owl with brown eyes, with yellow sclera, a yellow beak, & wearing a black jacket over a white shirt with white cravat, & holding a cane, sitting next to him. Once the cat saw Abigail he got up from his chair, went over to her, & hugged her. She hugged him back*
King Robert: Good morning, my darling.
Abigail: Good morning, Father.
*The owl stood up & bowed to her*
Harvey Who: Good morning, Your Highness.
Abigail: Good morning, Harvey.
*The King guided her to the table & pulled out her chair, which was next to his on the right. She sat down & he pushed her chair in. Rosie sat down next to her. Then he sat back down. Harvey also back sat down. The King then rang a gold bell next to him & one of the doors opened. A black & white male skunk with light blue eyes wearing a butler's uniform came in, pushing a cart with three covered dishes on it. Next to him was a black & white female cat with green eyes wearing a maid's uniform (look up "Peach - Tohru" by "Katlime" on "DeviantArt"), pushing a tea cart*
Geoffrey St. John: For breakfast today, we have lightly poached salmon, accompanied by a delicate mint salad, scones, and earl gray tea to drink. Hershey, if you would?
*While he served breakfast, Hershey poured the tea. Then everyone started to eat*
*After breakfast, Abigail, Rosie, the King, & Harvey went to the King's study*
Abigail: So, Father. What did you want to speak to me about?
King Robert: Well, my dear. As you know, next month is your 18th birthday. On that day, you officially become an adult.
Abigail: Yes, I know.
King Robert: Which means, you will be eligible to take the throne. But before you do so, you must find a husband.
Abigail: What!? But I haven't met anyone who interests me.
King Robert: Then you will have a chance to at your Royal Birthday Ball.
Abigail: But do I really have to marry someone?
King Robert: Of course. How can a Queen rule a Kingdom without a King by her side?
Abigail: But -
King Robert: There's nothing for you to worry about, my dear. I have already invited six Princes from neighboring Kingdoms to attend. You will have a month to get to know each of them. Then, you will choose one of them to be your husband at the ball. It'll be up to you which one you want to marry. I know it won't be easy, but I know you'll make the right choice.
Abigail: But, Father, this all seems so sudden.
King Robert, My darling. That's the law. It was the law when your Grandfather was the King and that is how it will always be. *he turned around & looked at the portrait that was hanging over the fireplace. it was a portrait of an orange female cat with green eyes & peach skin, wearing a gold crown & a pink dress (look up "Peach - Elise (Queen)" by "Katlime" on "DeviantArt")**sigh* I only wish your Mother could see the kind of smart and beautiful young woman you've become.
*Abigail looked up at the portrait sadly. Because she was so young when her Mother passed away, she barley remembered anything about her*
Abigail:*in her mind* Me too, Father.
Harvey Who: Ahem! *they all turned to him* Now that this is out of the way, I believe it's time to discuss your schedule today Princess. *he pulled out a long scroll* Your lessons begin in ten minutes. First you have math lessons, then geography lessons, your science lessons, and then . . .
*Abigail sighed. She was in for another long day*
*After lunch, Abigail went to her room to relax a bit until her dancing lesson. Blaze & Lacey were serving her tea while Sally was putting new water in the vases*
Blaze: We heard the news. I believe congratulations are in order.
*Abigail glared at her*
Abigail: Stop it! Just because I'm turning 18, becoming heir to the throne, and getting engaged to someone I don't love all in one day, doesn't mean you have the right to make fun of me! *her face turned sad* I wish there was some way out. How can I marry a stranger? But I can't disobey my Father.
Blaze: Why are you so surprised? You were born a Princess and this is your fate. So you'll have to accept it.
*Abigail went quiet. She knew her childhood friend was right. Seeing her so sad, her other childhood friends came up with an idea*
Lacey: I know. *they both looked at her* Why don't we all go for a ride in the woods after your dance lesson?
Sally: I'm sure your Father won't object to you having a little break.
*Abigail smiled*
Abigail: That's a wonderful idea! I'll go ask him right now! *she immediately ran out of the room**in her mind* I can finally see "him" again after so long!
*Blaze, Sally, & Lacey smiled at each other. They all knew that the Princess preferred horseback riding to dancing*
*Later, Abigail was on her white horse & wearing a teal cape over a light green vest which was over a white shirt, a light green belt, light green leggings, & light green boots (look up "Rosalina - Tamara (Adventure)" by "Katlime" on "DeviantArt"). Lacey, Sally, & Blaze were riding on three brown horses (Lacey was wearing a pink long sleeves shirt, a light pink belt, pink shorts, light pink tights, & pink boots (look up "Peach - Princess Starla (Adventure)" by Katlime on DeviantArt), Sally was wearing a light blue vest over magenta long sleeves shirt, a brown belt, lavender tights, & brown boots (look up "Peach - Zelda (Cartoon)" by "Katlime" on "DeviantArt"), & Blaze was wearing a yellow bow in her hair, a purple short cape over a white long sleeved tunic, pink tights, & purple boots (look up "Daisy - Fallon (Adventure)" by Katlime on DeviantArt). The King has agreed to let the girls go out, as long as they promised to be back before sunset. Soon, they arrived at the lake & stopped to water their horses. Abigail sat on a nearby fallen tree as she looked out at the water. She seemed to waiting for something, or someone. Just then, four swans swam towards her. At the center was a swan slightly different from the others. It had a red streak on each of it's wings & was wearing a black medallion with red ruby in the center (look up "Gothic Ruby Medallion Necklace" by "Om-Society" on "DeviantArt"). It went up to her. She smiled, stood up, & went up to the swan*
Abigail: Hello, Snowy. It's so good to see you and your friends. *she pulled a bread roll out of her pocket* Here. I brought you all a snack. *she threw some crumbs into the water & the swans started eating them* I'm sorry I haven't visited in so long, but since I'm turning 18 soon, I've been busier than ever. Not only that, but my Father is planning a ball to celebrate the occasion and he wants me to choose a husband from six Princes he's invited to it. I wish I could just refuse to go through with this, but I can't disobey my Father. *she looked like she was ready to cry. seeing this, Snowy nuzzled his head against her hand. smiled & petted his head* You always know how to cheer me up. You make me so happy. I still remember the day we met.
(Flashback - 2 Years Ago)
*Abigail had gotten separated from her Father's hunting party & was attacked by a bear. She pushed her horse to run faster and faster. When they got to lake, they stopped. Abigail looked behind her & saw the bear was gone*
Abigail: Whew! Looks like we lost it. *she got off her horse & they both fell to the ground, exhausted. they both went to the water for a drink. just then, Abigail saw something on the water. she looked up & saw . . .* Oh, swans. *her eyes caught the attention of one particular swan. this one was wearing a black ruby medallion & had red streaks on it's wings. she stood up & went to get a closer look* How strange. *the swans noticed her staring & the one with the medallion opened it's wings, as if to greet her. she was mesmerized by it's beauty**in her mind* I feel like I'm being watched by a handsome man. *just then, she noticed that the sun was starting to go down**out loud* Oh no! If I don't find my way home soon, Father & Rosie will be worried! But how will I? *just then, the swan wearing the medallion swam to shore & came up to her. then it pulled on her cape* What is it? Do you want me to follow you? *the swan took to the skies & hovered over a section of the forest near the lake* What is it? Is there a path over there? *she got on her horse & followed the swan down a hidden path through the forest. soon, they were out of the forest & saw the castle in the distance* The castle! Oh, thank you, swan. Thank you. *the swan nodded & flew back to the lake* Goodbye. I hope to see you again.
*She waved the swans goodbye as she rode her horse towards the castle*
(Present Time)
*And ever since that day, she's visited Snowy & his friends whenever she had the time. Just then, a voice snapped her out of her thoughts*
Sally: Abby, we should be getting back soon.
Lacey: The sun's starting to go down.
Blaze: And if we don't get back soon, your Father might send out a search party. You know how he worries.
Abigail:*sigh* You're right. *I stood up & went to her horse* I have to go. Hope to see all again soon.
*As the girls were leaving, a black owl (look up "Owl" by "Drkav" on "DeviantArt") watched them from the branches of a nearby tree*
