Hello !
Firstly, I apologize in advance for any linguistic imperfections as English isn't my native language. Additionally, I lack a beta reader, and this marks my debut in crafting this particular type of content. I sincerely hope that despite these limitations, this story resonates with readers, offering some form of enjoyment or intrigue. Thank you to those who choose to embark on this journey with me and take the time to share their thoughts. Wishing you all a pleasant and engaging reading experience. I'd like to express my gratitude to Stephanie Meyer for creating the characters that have inspired this narrative journey.
This is my story, set in the early days of an unprecedented epidemic. I toiled away in a mundane research laboratory, armed with a doctorate in biology specialized in epidemiology, dedicated to yet another banal pursuit of a common cold vaccine. My interactions with colleagues were limited, and my connection with people in general was scarce. I lived a reclusive and unsociable life, oblivious to the interests that captivated others; I never truly comprehended them.
Engulfed in my work, I sought solace in the tranquility and discretion it offered. Years of downplaying my abilities and intellect brought me to this point. The type of intelligence I possessed was highly sought after by entities most remain blissfully ignorant of. A select few individuals wielded power over the world, safeguarding their vested interests. From a tender age, I detected hidden tests within the schoolwork assigned to me—subtle assessments concealed in television clips or children's games, designed to identify those with extraordinary gifts. I concealed my intelligence beneath an appearance of studious diligence, evading the radars of these enigmatic collectors who held dominion over our world.
Creating a secure environment to pursue my genuine researches required immense effort, drawing copious amounts of energy. To achieve this, I had to cautiously place my trust in a few other solitary souls who resonated with my cause. Slowly, I began to weave a network of kindred spirits, carefully instilling in them the imperative necessity of guarding their knowledge and talents to ensure our continuous freedom. Overcoming this obstacle proved to be one of the most significant challenges. Maintaining anonymity and deciphering the intricacies of our society demanded a vast reserve of patience, securing our autonomy in the process. Hastiness could have cost us our independence, potentially forcing us to constrain our research and discoveries to fit the demands of a possessed world, governed by authorities unwilling to embrace change and the prospect of power shift—despite the greater good, even for the well-being of our planet. Consequently, our strategy led us far beyond the confines of academic norms and the safety of lawful activities. We had to liberate ourselves not only from societal constraints but also from the clutches of the law.
Fortunately, I never had to fear causing harm to my family, for I was an orphan.
As the tides of fate began to turn, little did I know that the epidemic sweeping the land would soon shatter the veils of ignorance and plunge us into a world where the true essence of humanity would be put to the test. My secluded existence was about to collide with the relentless chaos that lay ahead. Unbeknownst to me, the epicenter of the outbreak was lurking ominously in the shadows, eagerly awaiting its moment to seize the world in a relentless grip of darkness.
This is the tale of my journey—a journey that would unearth not only the secrets of the epidemic but also the dormant powers within myself, forging an unlikely path that could change the fate of humankind forever.
