Izuku was smiling. Considering he had just come back from his 18-week checkup, Katsuki just figured it was because the doctor was able to tell him the gender of their baby. Not that Katsuki minded, something about his mate's smile made his heart flutter in his chest, even after all the years they've been together.
Which was usually what would happen, if Izuku also didn't look like he was about to go on a killing spree. "I'm home!"
"Hey," Katsuki greeted, "How did it go?"
"Great, great, hey do we have a big pair of scissors?"
Katsuki frowned. "We have the regular ones in the kitchen. They're not that big, but they're sharp." He wasn't exactly sure why, but he had the sudden urge to take off, and find a place to hide. Ridiculous, but also sounding very safe at the moment.
"Cool, thanks. You do you know I love you so, so much, right? You're the light of my life and I'm soo happy to be your mate? Right, sweetheart?" Izuku ground out between his teeth, still smiling widely, his right eye twitching. "And the kids are still with Uraraka?"
Oh shit. Not good, not good at all. Katsuki mentally went through the past few days to remember if he did anything to piss his mate off, but he was coming up blank. He didn't like this. He didn't like this at all.
"Yeah. Why?" Izuku didn't answer, just made his way to the kitchen with a happy bounce in his step while he hummed to himself. Katsuki stared at his pregnant mate, uneasiness coiling in his stomach. He could hear Izuku in his search for the scissors. Not that he was very quiet about, making sure to slam every drawer shut and purposely knock pots and pans around.
His heart began to pound when everything suddenly went silent. "Izuku?", he called out, a small shake to his voice.
"Just a second!"
"Izuku, how did the appointment go? What happened?"
There was a chuckle. Then a maniac laugh. "Oh, it went swell! Me and the babies are as healthy as can be! So healthy in fact, that I can still give a good chase and pin someone down as they struggled underneath me, begging to be let go. Do you think the pups would find that fun?"
Katsuki could feel his heart stop, and knew he was now in extreme danger. Someone was going to die, and it was definitely going to be him.
No, no, no way. That wasn't possible. Twins didn't run in any of their family lines, so it was highly unlikely something like this could happen. Izuku's last two pregnancies were all one pup, so Katsuki had absolutely no idea how this could have happened.
Izuku finally emerged from the kitchen, and Katsuki could feel the color drain from his face at the sight of his mate towards him, brandishing a pair of scissors almost lovingly.
The omega batted his eyelashes that once would have had Katsuki turned on in any other circumstance. "Yep," he chirped. "A boy and a girl. Twins! Can you believe it?"
"Great," Katsuki licked his dry lips. "Uh, wonderful. What…uh are you doing with the scissors?"
"What do you think?" Izuku asked, sliding his finger along the side of the one of the blades. When Katsuki didn't reply, he continued. "Didn't I say I was going to castrate you if we ended up expecting twins." His voice was oddly sweet as he took a threatening step forward. "Isn't that right, Kacchan?"
"Yeah, but I got a vasectomy, remember? As soon as we found you were pregnant, I scheduled that appointment immediately." He rushed to hide behind the couch as Izuku advanced on him, snipping the scissors threateningly.
For one terrifying moment, Katsuki was pretty sure he would die by the hands of his mate instead of a villain, or worse seriously be castrated, but at the last minute the omega smiled and started laughing.
"Pffft, if only your little alpha and hero friends could see you," he remarked, beaming. "Do you have any idea how pathetic you look?!"
Katsuki, who was now aware that he just seriously and genuinely curled up in a corner underneath Izuku, almost as if their caste roles were switched, scoffed and jumped to his feet.
"Tsk, whatever, can you blame me? You're fucking terrifying wielding those scissors. I really thought you were going to do it for a minute."
"Aw, Kacchan, I would never actually do that to you." Izuku pressed a kiss to Katsuki's lips and patted his cheek a little too harshly before leaning in and whispering into his ear, "At least not when you're expecting it. Sleep with one eye open, darling."
And then he bounced off to the nursery while Katsuki stared after him with wide eyes and did his best to tell his alpha instincts that, no, he was not shaking, they were stupid for making fun of him.
If Katsuki waited on Izuku hand foot for the rest of the week, it was no one's business but their own.
