Chapter I

Lost

Kata Uzumaki, the third child of Hinata and Naruto Uzumaki, was playing outside when she suddenly found herself in a forest. She didn't remember how she got there, but all she knew was now she was alone and she was scared. "PAPA! MAMA!" Upon hearing nothing, she fell to her knees and started to cry.

It happened to be that a sixteen year-old Naruto Uzumaki was nearby and heard her cry. Something like a father's instinct drove him to run and find the source of the crying. He soon found Kata. Kata was a blonde-haired girl with little splotches of indigo. She had the iconic four whisker marks on her cheeks. But the most surprising thing about her was her Byakugan. It was an exact copy of Hinata's Byakugan. That and her hair style was same as Hinata's too. "Hey are you alright?" Kata's head shot up, surprised to hear a voice. Her eyes locked on Naruto's face and went wide. "P-PAPA!" She lunged at Naruto. Naruto was caught in the ensnaring hug that Kata had around his neck as she started to pour out tears. What the hell is going on? Naruto thought as he carried the crying girl back to camp.

There were two teams on the particular mission he was on. Team Seven and Team Eight. "What do you have there Naruto?" Sakura asked as she had her back to him. "Some girl I found in the woods, she was alone, but she called me papa." Sakura turned around and saw Kata Uzumaki for the first time. "SHE'S SO CUTE!" Sakura exclaimed while she ran over to pet the top of Kata's head. The ten year-old girl turned her head and looked at Sakura. Sakura jumped back a foot in surprise. "Hinata come over here!" Hinata stepped out of the tent to see Sakura pointing at Naruto who held a girl in his arms. Her hair color was a blonde, with splotches of indigo, her face had four whisker marks on it, but the thing that caught Hinata's attention was Kata's Byakugan and the fact that her hairstyle was exactly how Hinata had her hair styled at the moment.

Kata saw Hinata and instantly realized she was in the past. But that didn't stop her from jumping out of Naruto's arms and throwing herself onto Hinata. Poor Hinata was knocked down by the force of Kata's tackle. And it didn't help the fact that Kata whispered "Mama!" into her ear. Hinata did something that she could only do in the moment, she blushed and fainted. "Ok who are you kid? You just knocked Hinata down and she fainted." Naruto asked growing suspicious of her. "My name is Kata, I'm sorry about earlier. I thought you were my father." "How could he be your father when he's sixteen?" Sakura asked, then it hit her. "Naruto please tell me you didn't hookup with a Hyūga at the age of five." Naruto looked surprised at the statement. "What? No! Sakura if I did that, I would be dead by now. What made you think that?" Sakura shrugged her shoulders and didn't say. At least Naruto's an honest person. "Ok Kata, so I assume that you tackling Hinata just now was because you thought she was your mom?" Kata turned slightly. There was something in her eyes that made Naruto stare at her in disbelief. In her eyes, Kata had determination, mischievousness, and a small tint of blue. It was so small that he didn't notice it at first. "She is my mother!" Kata said evenly. She was offended that her father didn't make any effort to be smart. Then it hit her, she had just exposed her relation to Hinata and probably Naruto. "Umm sorry, my mother looks like her." She gave a nervous laugh and scratched the back of her head.

Kiba and Shino, who were out training by themselves came back to find their teammate on the ground unconscious and Naruto and Sakura talking to a strange little girl. "Hey Naruto who is this?" "This is Kata, she was lost so I'm bringing her along back to Konoha until we can find her parents or something." Kata looked like she was about to attack Naruto out of frustration. Her cheeks puffed out and her lips pursed. Her eyes hardened and she let a growl come loose. "She seems...upset about your comment." Shino said as he watched Kata ball a fist. Damn Hinata looking very sexy right now, I bet I can finally hit on her tonight and she forget about Naruto Kiba thought as a smile crept across his face. Naruto instantly recognized that smile and instantly knew what Kiba was thinking about. Shino also knew and he turned to face his teammate. "Kiba, don't take advantage of Hinata. She doesn't like you that way." "I'll make her love me though." Kiba said as he prepared to grab the unconscious Hyūga. Sakura saw something in Naruto's eyes darken. The next thing anybody knew, Naruto had Hinata in his arms holding her in a protective manner. "Touch her and I will not hesitate to end your life. You have no right to do what you were planning." Naruto said with a hint of growl. His eyes turned red with the rage he was experiencing. Then he felt something tug him. He looked down to see Hinata grab a hold of his jacket and bury her face into his chest as much as she could. She had little tears in her closed eyes and she looked like she was worried. Kiba growled before lunging to grab her from his arms. Sakura didn't hesitate to punch Kiba with a chakra enhanced fist. Kiba flew backwards and hit a tree, knocking him out instantly. Kata looked towards the big dog Akamaru who simply put his head down. "Naruto, do you mind watching Hinata tonight? I have a feeling Kiba is going to try that more often than I hope." Shino said as he went to bind Kiba up. "Sure, I'll watch the other girl too." Naruto said flashing his bright smile. Kata hadn't seen his smile much in her life. But when she did, she felt her heart stop for a second. She loved her father's smile. It was like the sun coming out after a bad rainstorm. Naruto looked up at the sky. "It's getting dark out, I'm going to let her sleep in my tent. Kata come on." Naruto said as he moved Hinata's things out of the tent she was in to his own.

Kata followed her parents like a little lost puppy and clung to her father's jacket like her unconscious mother was doing. Naruto laid Hinata in her sleeping bag and closed it up so she wouldn't get cold in the night. Naruto also closed the tent up too. Kata didn't have a sleeping bag so Naruto let her use his own. The only thing that Naruto had to sleep on was his jacket that he used for a pillow. The three of them slept like that though. And Kata couldn't help but feel like they already knew she was their youngest daughter. That was because Hinata moved her sleeping bag closer to her as did Naruto. Kata found herself in a sandwich style hug that was full of love, care, and warmth. Kata smiled in contempt and slept like a baby.
