Summary: Kagome left the Galaxy Garrison following Shiro's disappearance. Not even she could predict what might come a year later when he crashlands back on Earth. By strange means, it seems she's bound to Voltron by its very roots. Surrounded by friends, family, and strangers alike, she will take up any mantle she must in order to recover the Shikon no Tama and defend her allies.
Pairing: Keith/Kagome
Disclaimer: I do not own either series. Each belongs to their rightful owners.

Prologue
The shrine before him didn't seem all that different, despite the three years that'd gone by since he was last able to visit. He made it to the top of the steps and he breathed a sigh. The trip up never got any easier, it seemed.
"Oh, Takashi!" A familiar voice called out across the otherwise quiet location, and he turned towards the source. A woman several years older than him came rushing over and a smile lifted on his face. He held his arms open, and she didn't wait to close in for a hug. "You're taking care of yourself, right?" she asked as she backed up to peer at him closely.
He laughed softly and nodded. "Yes, Mom," he said to assure her. "I'm taking care of myself, I promise."
She looked a bit more appeased at the claim, and she nodded. "Good," she said with a sigh.
"How's Kagome?" he asked, and she shook her head with a soft smile appearing on her face.
"She's Kagome," she responded. As cryptic as the answer was, he knew exactly what she meant by it. A similar smile appeared on his face at the thought of the girl. He hadn't seen her in person since her twelfth birthday, and he really couldn't envision her much different than how she'd been three years ago.
It was then he realized his mother had turned to glance elsewhere, and he followed her gaze. His eyes landed on the back of a girl with long, raven hair. She was seated beneath the large tree located in the center of the shrine grounds.
They made their way over to her, but before they could get close enough for her to hear them, she stopped whatever it was she was doing and rose to her feet. A second later, she stretched, threading her fingers together over her head. Not even a full second later, she let her arms drop back to her side, and she turned to face them.
Shiro paused the second he let his gaze land on the girl in question. He didn't miss the way his mother gave him a soft smile, reaching up to pat his arm. It was his sister, but she was different. The air around them was heavy, but the cause for it was entirely lost on him. A second passed, and she opened her eyes. Ice-blue irises landed on him as she climbed up onto her feet from her meditative position. He wanted to question her, but, before the words could form, the icy light in her eyes faded and was replaced by her usual warmth as she smiled.
It was almost like a mask, but he couldn't be sure. He glanced at his sister, but he couldn't tell if she'd noticed the same way he had.
"Sorry to interrupt you," Kun-Loon eventually spoke, and Kagome shook her head, her smile gleaming as she came over. Her attire was far different than he could ever recall her wearing. A white haori and a pair of red hakama, along with a pair of sandals. A pink stone around her neck caught the sunlight and gleamed with an almost ethereal radiance.
"It's okay!" Kagome beamed brightly. "I was done with my meditation, anyway," she reassured as she cupped her hands over her stomach.
"You're all packed, aren't you?" Kun-Loon asked. Kagome paused for a moment, an unreadable expression flashing across her face before it vanished swiftly. She nodded a second later.
"Yup!" she exclaimed. "I'm all packed and ready to go, Mama."
Shiro smiled and nodded. "All right," he said. At once, she looked up to meet his eyes with her own radiant ones. "We'll leave tomorrow at noon," he suggested. "Sound good to you?"
She nodded. "Okay!"
The thought of going away from the shrine, away from the smothering aura of the well, away from the place her life turned upside down, was too good to pass up. There was a nagging feeling in the pit of her stomach, but she attempted to not pay too much attention to it
The stars shining overhead held her attention. He'd come to a halt behind her, and he knew she was aware of his presence, despite the way she refused to tear brilliant blue irises away from the sky overhead them. Indigo eyes remained glued to her, even as a soft pink glow seemed to source from something on her person. He knew what it was- she'd shared what it was and its origin with him months ago when their relationship shifted. He closed the distance to her, pausing beside her. Like this, he was able to get a clear view of her face, and his chest constricted. The pink glimmers around her highlighted her icy-blue eyes, and he found it hard to breathe.
One minute, he felt like he knew her well, but the next it was like he was looking at a stranger. Either way, it never changed the overwhelming urge in his chest to protect her. She looked strong like steel right now, but he also knew the softer side just as well.
This one was a mask.
"Are you okay?" he eventually asked. His voice was a quiet whisper in the night. He looked to the sky, trying to see what it was she saw, to no avail. He glanced back at her just in time to catch her gaze. Her hand went up to grip the pink stone around her neck. A second later, the light had faded and they were left standing under the moonlight.
"... There's something coming," she whispered, voice just as soft. The aura she'd felt initially was unfamiliar- entirely new even with everything she'd experienced, but the longer she focused, she was able to find familiar traces sprinkled throughout it.
The face of her older brother was imprinted in her mind. It'd been a year since she last felt anything like it. There was no way she'd be able to mistake it for something else, surely.
"What is it?" Keith asked, hands tightening at his sides. Before she could answer, a stronger surge of it caused her to whirl around. A fiery trail shooting through the sky burned bright, and she pointed towards it with her eyes lighting up.
No, she was positive!
She could feel Shiro's aura along with it!
"That!" she stated as he turned to look at what she pointed.
"What is it?" he asked, and Kagome shook her head.
"No idea," she responded, "but I can feel Takashi's aura from it." He looked at her for her comment, and he couldn't predict her movements fast enough to grip her arm in time. She had taken off running towards it. He didn't hesitate before falling into pace with her, catching up easily.
He caught her arm this time and tugged her to a stop. She nearly toppled over when she got tugged into him, and she glanced up at him, confused as to why he even stopped her in the first place. Almost as if he knew what she was about to ask, he beat her to speaking.
"You don't know what could be in that thing," he reminded. "You could get hurt!"
Kagome narrowed her eyes with a scoff. "So?" she retorted. "We need to go!"
Hearing her say disregard it so causally made him narrow his eyes. "You're staying here," he told her, and she glared at him in response. "I'll go, but you're gonna stay here," he repeated. His tone was final, and he held back a groan when he realized she was going to argue it. Of course, she would. She always did.
"Isn't it better if we both go?" she argued. "That way if anything-!"
"Not gonna happen," he cut her off, much to her ire. She puffed her cheeks out in a pout, tugging her arm free with a glare directed at him.
She could be stubborn, but arguing with Keith was like arguing with a brick wall. It wouldn't get her anywhere. Once he made his mind up, it was almost impossible to get him to budge- especially when it came to her. She'd call him protective, but it seemed to always drift more into territorial.
She folded her arms over her chest with a sigh. "... fine," she muttered. "But if you're not back in two hours then I'm coming either way," she stated.
Keith met her eyes and nodded, relenting to accept the negotiation. "Deal," he said.
As she returned to the small building that'd become their home after leaving the Garrison and he left to go to the crashlanding object, she found it hard to settle down. With a frown, she leaned against the closed door and sighed.
The jewel began to glow again, and she curled her fingers around it. Once more, it was silenced and she shook her head.
Meditation would help calm her, surely, and, if not, then at least it'd help to pass the time.
Auroua-chan: I still really love V:LD. This has been in my drafts for a while so I decided to get it ready to publish.
The pairing is already decided. Some very protective Keith inbound for this story. Shiro will definitely be surprised to learn about them, too haha. I can't really picture him being upset though, since it is Keith.
Anyway, that's it for now! Thank you all for reading, and I hope you all enjoyed. Hopefully I caught all the errors before posting, but if not sorry.
Please remember to Review&Favorite&Follow, thank you!
Bye for now~
